I owned the Neo G8 and now I own the AW3225QF. I had to return the Neo G8 due to ugly scan lines and when that happened, the screen was divided in two with ugly-big scan lines. In 3 weeks that I had that monitor, it did happen 3 times. I tried different cables and still the problem was not fixed so I had to return it and I opened up my wallet again to buy the Alienware AW3225QF which is impressive. This is my second OLED monitor and the first one is my Sony A80j TV which it is also impressive and fantastic.
Just got my AW3225QF. Really love it. Color is great. Connected it with my Xbox Series X, checked all boxes including DV gaming at 120hz. Only setback is that the monitor doesn't have a 3.5mm headphone jack, meaning that if I want my XSX to output audio, it has to come from a soundbar via HDMI-ARC (or stick with headphones). 😅
Bought both monitors. Love both displays but did myself a favor and returned the G8. The Alienware AW3225QF just offered more: updated firmware, better HDR, brighter nits, better blacks in black scenes, better color accuracy and calibrated right out of the box, offered 3 year warranty on screen burn in vs 1 year with the Samsung, also runs quieter and cooler. Nothing against Samsung but Dell definitely stepped up their game!

Very good side-by-side comparison test. I have been a big fan of OLED panels since they came out. I had heard that the mini LED panels were also very good and I was curious to see if they were worth looking into them. Your video just answered all of my questions. I finally found my monitor! That Alienware is magnificent! I originally was on the fence about the Odyssey, i took the jump, I didnt like it and then i turned around and gave it my husband instead. My current monitor is a 1080p 240hz, alienware and I absolutely love it. This will definitely be my next upgrade to 4k finally. Thank you. ❤
Awesome comparison. I did a similar comparison to the 27gr95qe vs aw2725df vs lg c1. Posted on the OLED_Gaming subreddit. The WOLEDs continue to shine in overall black levels in various environments, but man, that matte finish on the WOLED monitors is hideous! We need a glossy WOLED monitor! For now, QD-OLED fills the void, but the lack of a polarizer hurts its use in a bright room. To my eye, glossy WOLED > QD-OLED > matte OLED. But the colors are crazy on QD, no lie! Running a 48 C1 & AW2725DF w/ the 4090 PC now. Loving it so far.
I love that you let the results speak for themselves. Great vid! Love them both. They both have their drawbacks and strengths. In the end qd-oled wins out. Now if we were to start bringing micro-led into the mix? 😊

8:49 from now on I'll call it "Geo N8" 😁 great in-depth comparison btw but details in color (8:28) can be much better after calibrating the monitor. For AMD perspective FreeSync Colour Accuracy setting makes details phenomenal after basic calibration in OSD with Neo G7 "43 .
They might not have the inventory, some people might get stuff sent and have to send it back whereas to me, I’ve owned this one on the left since last year.
Does the neo g8 have the contrast enhancer set to “on” out of the box? I use that with mine and it makes the color much better and less washed out. I’ve been thinking if it’s worth upgrading from a neo g8 just on color alone since they’re so similar otherwise and you could argue the neo has its own strengths like the stronger curve (which I personally enjoy). I also own the Alienware widescreen oled with 165 hz and I feel like both monitors look great side by side it’s hard to tell which is better
We need more mini LED monitors coming out. I just got a budget one and its coming tomorrow at a price of £340, only 334 zones I think but all reviews paint it at a very good budget HDR monitor. Of course it wont come close to my AW3423DW or OLEDs in general but for my brother they are better as he plays thousands of hours on the same games and will just burn them in quickly. The monitor in question is the aoc q27g3xmn, think its around $280. 1300nits fullscreen, very good dimming algorithm, 180hz, 27inch, 1440p. Should be good to introduce my brother to HDR without breaking the bank for him ( would have gotten a Neo series but we are moving and having to make an entire desk set up + getting a 7900xtx so decided to grab this instead of waiting ). Great content as always and great showcase of how different each tech is.
Had a neo G8 for my 4090, now have a LG g3 42 inch and it completely blows the Neo G8 out of the park in terms and hdr and colours. 120 fps is also fine as I run all my games in max graphics settings still super smooth and the immersion from the size is amazing
Best comparison i have seen yet tysm man. My boy has the neo G8 and was wondering if he should sell his to buy an Oled, this might convince him to do so.
I went with the Neo G8 which I bought earlier this week, I didn’t want to risk a chance of running into burn in on the OLED monitors, I have an OLED tv but I use that for watching movies/shows only
I ended up going with the samsung. It's amazing. It may not be oled but noone really truly needs oled right now. The graphical requirements aren't up to par with them yet. Graphic cards should always be stronger than the monitor that they get connected to. So you get all benefits of such monitor instead of having wasted potential.
@@ozzynomicon2817 no one needs OLED right now? Stop the nonsense with that statement lol. You went with what was more affordable sound for you and for that we can respect that but make no mistake if these two options were the exact same cost there is no logical way you would pick what you got. I respect when people keep it 100% The comment you make about graphics cards shows some ignorance, OLED offers perfect black, that has nothing to do with what a GPU offers, nothing at all.
I’m actually pretty surprised that the QD OLED is holding its own brightness wise with that G8. That G8 is a bright panel isn’t it? I am going to try the PG32UCDM. I’ll be coming from a PG27UQ. I hope it’s a worthy upgrade.
Just curious…why Asus new 32inch 4k oled monitor PG32ucdm should be better than the aw3225qf? There’s at least 300$/€ difference between the two of them.
I have no clue, I’m sticking with what I have though. For one I prefer the curve screen and this is the only one that offers it. Of both those panels they both receive FW updates and so no concerns there. The Asus might have another level on the heatsink, but this AW doesn’t suffer from any radical ABL.
@@AllAboutTKK I got the Odyssey G8 UW (1440p) and it looks awful. They're all using some sort of QD Samsung panels. So, I'm returning the G8 UW and this new Alienware could be perfect, but I really need better font rendering.
@@evilgeneral yes. Every one of the QD-OLED belongs to Samsung. All the WOLED belong to LG. Agreed on the font, heard it’s not the best on the model you have
@@AllAboutTKK The search for perfection will continue. No pink whites,no blooming, more colour volume. Motion on the neo g8 looks very close to the QD oled motion.
@raymondhines5964 motion has been figured out, it’s all within margin. It would take a QD-OLED with MLA for perfection. Not gonna happen because they are the opposition.
So i just got a samsung neo g8 for 600$ on sale. I was going to get the alienware qdoled but i dont think is worth double the price at 1200$. Your thoughts?
@Juan1985g Neo G8 is half the cost because it’s old as hell now, that’s just how technology works. It’ll be clearance out in a minute. I’m not here for financial Advice but better is better, the Alienware is only $1200, the G8 was $1500 on launch. Just to put things into perspective.
The burn in possibility and low brightness is kinda annoying on OLED, if only one of those wouldn't exist then OLED would be the clear way to go, but since it's not I'm still indecisive
@AllAboutTKK make another video but this time aim for best case scenario what i mean is choose the best setting on the neo g8 , not out of the box experience(as in all reviewers say that neo g8 has one of the worst out of the box experiences out there)
dang i literally just bought the Samsung for $899 at the store and thought it was the best thing ever lol especially 4k offeering at 240hz, and I like bright monitors. I do have HDR turned off becomes it dims it a lot it seems or maybe its jsut me. Is it worth going to the Alienware? I am worried about the panel burning out or not lasting as longg, but for the price I didnt think I could beat it. Do you guys think its worth returning and making the switch? I am new to the whole gaming world so this is my first big monitor purchase after my first pc build as well. thanks!
Dims the overall screen probably because there is no HDR content on at that time. Best set for auto on my findings, let windows activate it when there is content running HDR. Yes I would absolutely suggest going to the Alienware, if you can afford the 3-4 hundred after tax difference that is. Burn in isn’t a serious concern like back 10 years ago when OLED hit the scene.
@@AllAboutTKK if it’s worth the price, I have no problem spending the extra. Usually I can never tell if there’s huge gaps in visuals but my jaw hit the ground just looking at the Destiny menu screen comparison. I know OLED are known for having richer blacks but typically not as bright if that plays a factor here? I will say I love how bright the Samsung is but sucks HDR doesn’t work I guess? I always wanted to try it but had no idea why it darkened everything up. Also, I do use AMD and if it will matter with the Alienware being GSync? I hate it looks like you can only order directly from Dell right now as I would love to go see it somewhere or buy on spot. Just from the 2 days I’ve even had the Samsung it feels like I upgraded my GPU just from how much better it looks from my past monitor 😂
No. $900 you can wait a little time and catch a sale price on the AW. That’s only a $300 difference, there is enough value to wait a paycheck or two to stack the extra $300 for the AW, but that’s my take.
would be interesting to see something with more dimming zones compared like odyssey neo g9 57 or something it has 2304 dimming zones I believe I am waiting this year for one of those dual displays oleds I wanna see what 480hz oled is like and still have the option to run 4k @ 240hz
ya they are w-oled I don't like qd oled cause it has no polarizer so the blacks are raised and not actual black like the w-oleds but the lg panels coming in 2nd half of the year will be 1300 nits peak brightness and have a different subpixel layout rgbw instead of wrgb also the asus models will support bfi up to at least 120hz but I am going for whichever model release first LG 32GS95UE or Asus PG32UCDP 4k 240hz 1080p @ 480hz oled @@AllAboutTKK
I can tell, You think brighter is better. By its self the NEO G7/G8 looks good but next to a OLED it will look washed out due to infinite blacks on a oled "contrast" It starts with contrast. Also the Alienware looks more vivid. But again if the oled wasn't next to it the G8 would look amazing .
@@DETERMINOLOGY nah I experimented for like 5 hours. Sure the oled has better blacks no doubt, but overall picture quality is bad compared to neo G8s. I’ll keep trying tho. I have 2 Neo G8s right now and using the Alienware as my third monitor to try it have a sick 3 32 inch set up. At night though it looks great but so do the G8s. I guess for solely gaming it’s better but if you actually want to watch movies and productivity stuff it’s not as good as the G8s. If only they could max out the brightness. Also when I’m watching some movies it gets too dark and just looks like blobs of darkness and the G8 can actually show the scene.
@@Yawarrior Im worried now. lol... I have G8 Neo Mini LED and I Preordered aw3225qf 2 weeks ago, gonna get it by 18th June. I never side by side compare my G8 with any OLED, last month I went to PC shop have a look at PG32UCDM, actually Im not impressed lol. Out of curiousity, I pull my trigger on AW3225QF. I think I gonna be disappointed, because I only play Dota 2 I think G8 definitely gonna shine in Dota2 lol.
The lower contrast on the G8 almost makes it look like there’s a white film - a haze over the entire screen. On the OLED it’s like clearing off the fog on your windshield. It’s like the image has depth.
Im looking at getting the samsung neo g8 I've been doing research I've head there a scanline issue which I don't really mind. As long the picture is great im just look at my opinions

@joeyh3291 nah brother, a QD-OLED is as pure and vibrant as it gets with colors. G8 is nice though, but depending on cost for $200 more get rid of that blooming.

man i still hesitate - i know OLED this OLED that - but, i like to use my monitor for everything , u know. SO from graphics stuff to gaming on the same day. And burnin is still a thing.
I don’t think there is one realistic, nor review guy but legit real owner like myself on YT claiming they have burn in issues. You’re not talking about watching ESPN, I read hundreds of comments like yours where people are saying “hey I’m doing this and that” that’s all what these monitors are intended, why would “graphics stuff” be an issue bro? Just think about it. HUBS on video games that’s why they have pixel, shift, etc. I mean you can go with the lesser option if you wanna but I don’t see the scare. Buy a warranty if you are, spend them little couple of dollars and have a piece of mind. Scared money don’t make none.
I'd imagine that with some tweaking, you could improve the contrast a bit more on the Neo. A lot of the footage looks washed out, perhaps thats just how it shows up on camera.
You can tweak the Neo yes, as I mentioned in the video but this monitor claims to fam is its peak brightness which is also its downfall also because it achieves that brightness from its Mini LED panel. It’s just not of the same caliber as the Alienware.
Yes but does it makes you more happy? It’s all specs and technology. In my youth we used to play on shitty monochrome CRT monitors and I can tell you that I had more fun in those days playing games than today.
Bought 2 Alienwares for 815€ each + another 100€ cashback, so effective 715€ But I have to say, I ONLY use SDR mode, I play competitively cod switching between pc w/ a 4090 & ps5, so I need a 4k monitor that is BRIGHT (because 4k has the lowest input lag on ps5, if u set 1080/1440p on console it will always upscale to 4k and downscale again, adding 1 more processing which causes more delay) and I need a perfect black equalizer to make dark spots bright but not raising too much of the bright colors, I only sold one of the alienwares for 900 and I got a Neo G8 for 750€, waiting for it to test them both side by side Input lag numbers of rtings: 240hz = Neo g8 2,8ms vs aw3225qf 2,9ms (So basically the same) 120hz = Neo g8 5,1ms vs 6,3ms on the Alienware So imo, if you want to use them in SDR and only want that 4k resolution for clarity and low input lag + bright image, I see no points getting the oled over the va But for HDR hands down QD OLED is the best in the market, especially in dark scenes Before u ask, I’m usually playing on pc and switching to console to turn crossplay off when I notice too many cheaters in the lobbys, boosting people for money, so the monitor NEEDS to be perfect for ps5 gaming AND PC in my usecase
I own this Neo G8, and clearly the oled alienware image looks so much better in this comparison, but the samsung can be tuned to look much better… why not compared fine tuned models? It cant be that complex, its a monitor :)

that lg display is so distict with its jet black blacks yet clear reflective, before the antiglare even turns on it looks flat lol
either lg or qd-oled not sure but i like it
На 19:18 все сразу становится видно) 😂
Best comparison i have seen yet tysm man. My boy has the neo G8 and was wondering if he should sell his to buy an Oled, this might convince him to do so.
Thank you much sir.
I went with the Neo G8 which I bought earlier this week, I didn’t want to risk a chance of running into burn in on the OLED monitors, I have an OLED tv but I use that for watching movies/shows only
That is not a realistic concern.
But you got yourself a great monitor, congrats.
I respect when people keep it 100%
The comment you make about graphics cards shows some ignorance, OLED offers perfect black, that has nothing to do with what a GPU offers, nothing at all.
I’m actually pretty surprised that the QD OLED is holding its own brightness wise with that G8. That G8 is a bright panel isn’t it? I am going to try the PG32UCDM. I’ll be coming from a PG27UQ. I hope it’s a worthy upgrade.
God i wish burn in didnt exist id buy this immediately, it looks so good. Just cant buy another oled after the aw3423dw which got burn in in 8 months.
In 8 months? Thats Crazy. How does it Happen?
Well the problem in Dubai I can get it with almost the half price because they doubled it to almost 2k$ while the g8 is less than 800$
Just curious…why Asus new 32inch 4k oled monitor PG32ucdm should be better than the aw3225qf? There’s at least 300$/€ difference between the two of them.
I have no clue, I’m sticking with what I have though. For one I prefer the curve screen and this is the only one that offers it.
Of both those panels they both receive FW updates and so no concerns there. The Asus might have another level on the heatsink, but this AW doesn’t suffer from any radical ABL.
Does the Alienware AW3225QF in stand-by mode start from every connected source or does it only start from the last one used?
There is a setting for it to focus on one port or any.
How's the small fonts rendering on Alienware AW3225QF? Like these on the comments section here. Any signal of fringing texts or blurred fonts?
Will look into but no clue? Used this so far strictly in the space of gaming so far,
@@AllAboutTKK I got the Odyssey G8 UW (1440p) and it looks awful. They're all using some sort of QD Samsung panels. So, I'm returning the G8 UW and this new Alienware could be perfect, but I really need better font rendering.
@@evilgeneral yes. Every one of the QD-OLED belongs to Samsung.
All the WOLED belong to LG.
Agreed on the font, heard it’s not the best on the model you have
i wonder how this compares to the G8 OLED
If only oled could show white instead of pink.
Choose your poison.
1. Blooming
2. Pink whites.
This is true. MLA offers the whites, but doesn’t offer the color potential. Thats another equation also.
19:40 crazy diff
Facts.
So i just got a samsung neo g8 for 600$ on sale. I was going to get the alienware qdoled but i dont think is worth double the price at 1200$. Your thoughts?
Alienware
@AllAboutTKK so as far as alienware being better I am with you on that. However do you think is double the price better?? Is it worth two neo G8s?
@Juan1985g Neo G8 is half the cost because it’s old as hell now, that’s just how technology works. It’ll be clearance out in a minute.
I’m not here for financial Advice but better is better, the Alienware is only $1200, the G8 was $1500 on launch. Just to put things into perspective.
Where did you get that ryu street fighter wallpaper?
You should be able to find it online.
The burn in possibility and low brightness is kinda annoying on OLED, if only one of those wouldn't exist then OLED would be the clear way to go, but since it's not I'm still indecisive
high on life comparison that game is very colorful
You’ll only get burn in if you leave your monitor on with the same picture for like months in a row
The g8 has dropped to 899 now. Do you think that would justify the purchase over the alien ware?
No. $900 you can wait a little time and catch a sale price on the AW. That’s only a $300 difference, there is enough value to wait a paycheck or two to stack the extra $300 for the AW, but that’s my take.
Thank you for the reply. Great review. Alien ware here i come!
would be interesting to see something with more dimming zones compared like odyssey neo g9 57 or something it has 2304 dimming zones I believe I am waiting this year for one of those dual displays oleds I wanna see what 480hz oled is like and still have the option to run 4k @ 240hz
Do those come 32” QD-OLED? I think those are WOLED.
ya they are w-oled I don't like qd oled cause it has no polarizer so the blacks are raised and not actual black like the w-oleds but the lg panels coming in 2nd half of the year will be 1300 nits peak brightness and have a different subpixel layout rgbw instead of wrgb also the asus models will support bfi up to at least 120hz but I am going for whichever model release first LG 32GS95UE or Asus PG32UCDP 4k 240hz 1080p @ 480hz oled
@@AllAboutTKK
See if you can also test HDR in Forza Horizon/Motorsport (just $5 in PC Game Pass), and Gran Turismo 7 if you have a PS5.
G8 is better a lot brighter and more vivid in my opinion. Just had them side by side and was playing videos. Smoked the Alienware
I can tell, You think brighter is better. By its self the NEO G7/G8 looks good but next to a OLED it will look washed out due to infinite blacks on a oled "contrast"
It starts with contrast.
Neo g8 came out in 2022 that’s when I got mine unless I got an older version
I did, I marked years for ownership for me.
After I used many Samsung monitors I don't recommend it, YES they give you a good picture quality, but their monitors doesn't live long
The lower contrast on the G8 almost makes it look like there’s a white film - a haze over the entire screen. On the OLED it’s like clearing off the fog on your windshield. It’s like the image has depth.
You can adjust your Nvidia control display settings and your black light level on the g8
Is local dimming enabled on G8 out the box?
Mine was.
@@AllAboutTKKawesome, just making sure! 🕺🤩
Regret buying the AW3423DW. THIS is the monitor I've been wanting for! Ordered as selling the 34
Congrats good sir!
The Samsung can currently be purchased for as low as 750 open box at Best Buy
why does the alienware screen appear colored even when it turns off a red tint?
Standard with QD-OLED Gen one panels at least.
Did you use windows 11 hdr calibration app?
No sir no software tweaks, even at the windows level outside of turning games to highest settings possible for fluid game play.
Thats for AutoHDR iirc and the games he is showing have native HDR built in. I would still recommend that app though and set up a HDR profile for it
Copy that Boss thanks for the comparison my man
Im looking at getting the samsung neo g8 I've been doing research I've head there a scanline issue which I don't really mind. As long the picture is great im just look at my opinions
Cool.
I’ve had zero scanline issues with mine
Hey brother. Would you say the colors on the Neo G8 are better more vibrant?
Opposite.
@@AllAboutTKK wow! On my iPhone 13 Pro seen at 4k it’s looks the other way around. The bro G8 looks amazing. Man I’m so on the fence I also have a 4090.
@joeyh3291 nah brother, a QD-OLED is as pure and vibrant as it gets with colors.
G8 is nice though, but depending on cost for $200 more get rid of that blooming.
@@AllAboutTKK man I hope I make the right decision lol. Thanks again for the reply. I was waiting on someone to make this video and you did I’m subscribing!
@joeyh3291 thanks.
Thank u so much for the content means world to me
Anything I can do to help.
@AllAboutTKK just had a rough day watching u talk about monitors and high quality content helped thank u so much. Also from the uk this alienware comes this month I believe and I've watched countless vids I say it unbiased you deserve more views
man i still hesitate - i know OLED this OLED that - but, i like to use my monitor for everything , u know.
Burn in is still a issue and static images u will get burn in
I'd imagine that with some tweaking, you could improve the contrast a bit more on the Neo. A lot of the footage looks washed out, perhaps thats just how it shows up on camera.
It looks washed out because its not self emissive like oled
@@craighopkins4496 no you are wrong , it needs to be calibrated is all. I have teh Samsung odyssey neo g8
Haha. Your days, man those are MY DAYS homie, lol.
Yeah I’m satisfied
All Oled Tests are with No ambient light, I wonder why ? 😅
Bought 2 Alienwares for 815€ each + another 100€ cashback, so effective 715€
But I have to say, I ONLY use SDR mode, I play competitively cod switching between pc w/ a 4090 & ps5, so I need a 4k monitor that is BRIGHT (because 4k has the lowest input lag on ps5, if u set 1080/1440p on console it will always upscale to 4k and downscale again, adding 1 more processing which causes more delay) and I need a perfect black equalizer to make dark spots bright but not raising too much of the bright colors, I only sold one of the alienwares for 900 and I got a Neo G8 for 750€, waiting for it to test them both side by side
Input lag numbers of rtings:
240hz = Neo g8 2,8ms vs aw3225qf 2,9ms
(So basically the same)
120hz = Neo g8 5,1ms vs 6,3ms on the Alienware
So imo, if you want to use them in SDR and only want that 4k resolution for clarity and low input lag + bright image, I see no points getting the oled over the va
But for HDR hands down QD OLED is the best in the market, especially in dark scenes
Before u ask, I’m usually playing on pc and switching to console to turn crossplay off when I notice too many cheaters in the lobbys, boosting people for money, so the monitor NEEDS to be perfect for ps5 gaming AND PC in my usecase
I own this Neo G8, and clearly the oled alienware image looks so much better in this comparison, but the samsung can be tuned to look much better… why not compared fine tuned models? It cant be that complex, its a monitor :)
What do you mean why not compare fine tuned models? Because this video is an out of the box comparison.
@@AllAboutTKK yes you said so in your video and my ask is, can you do a comparison with the neo G8 with tuned settings.
Subscribe and turn on channel notifications. That video was made and uploaded yesterday.
This is a process. How many UA-camr’s are comparing these two monitors?
I’d love to accommodate but I’d also love to have the time to be able to spread the content out. As I said in this video and in my comment, “this video was for out of the box”.

I have the g8, but might wait until 2025 lineup
I think I prefer the one on the right.
The Neo G7 is down to $800. Given that i don't really game much anymore, I might get that.
😂 The G7 was $450 last month, you missed out
@@Velly2g he thinks about full power G7 NEO 4k 165hz VA panel mini LED... this is 800-900 monitor
LoL this is Samsung's fault for how they're choosing to brand this line up of monitors. How many different versions of the G7 do we have now 5 or 6 I believe.

So I just bought a very high end rtx 4090 build with the best i9 and all that. I also bought the Alienware monitor from this video. My question is should I be using the HDMI 2.1 cable or should I be using the display port 1.4? Also which one is better to use??? Thanks so much for whoever answers this! I am clueless and need guidance lol
DisplayPort.
Display port transmits more data. I damn you got a 4090….
Looks like you just have a lot of money to throw around and don't do your research properly. Display port is always superior.
Why not both? I ordered my AW3225QF, and gonna keep my G8 as second monitor. And fyi, the neo G8 released in 2022, not 2023.
I put the year 2023 because that’s when I got the monitor, did two videos on these and offered that as context.
Just got the G8 for $550 out the door. Is the AW worth an additional $400?
AW for $950? Hell yeah.
