      We moved away from entertainment to tutorials.
      Entertainment videos doesn't attract *OUR* target audience.
      We have started creating *Travel Video* Creation tutorials and our watch time is heading south quickly.
      My Question is.... does being in a different region make a difference to which videos are suggested?

    I worried that when we posted our product videos on the same day was scaring away our audience. We do that perhaps once a month. The rest of our content is on a schedule. Exercise on Tuesday, Workouts on Friday, and troubleshoot guides either Wednesday or Thursday. So far it's working well, but I wondered if this policy of product video uploads was detrimental to our viewers. I have been trying to convince the others to load the product videos on schedule like our others.

  • @gibsonedu
    @gibsonedu 6 років тому +19

    Hm, I feel the ‘what does the audience want’ isn’t super helpful for small creators. Most small creators don’t really have an audience; the views come from folks stumbling upon their videos. I imagine making videos that seem to reach a wider audience (more views) is your metric for what’s successful...but then again how many times do you hear UA-camrs talk about how they wanted to try to do something different and their audience wasn’t really about that but the creator just had to be like ‘well...I’m going to create the content I want to create so stick around if you like, and if not, thanks for being here as long as you were.’
    But what do I know. I have 3.5k subs and am luck if I get 50 views in a video.

    One thing I think that would really help smaller creators is something like a discover tab where only channels under a certain subscriber count are promoted!

    • @VideoCreators
      @VideoCreators  6 років тому +2

      UA-cam has tried things like that before, and still does with their Creator Spotlight and On The Rise. I know people who have been featured in those places, though, and it's done very little for their channels. People don't discover and subscribe to you because of the size of your channel or because you're featured by UA-cam. They subscribe and watch only if the videos are valuable to them for some reason.

    • @itsallaboutthecocktail

    Hi Tim, I have one key question.
    If the description is so important, even more important than tags, does this mean we should stop putting various hyperlinks (affiliate marketing, other websites, social media, etc) in our description in order to optimise it?
    Thanks!

    • @MontanaWeatherby
      @MontanaWeatherby 6 років тому +4

      I'm not a expert so my opinion may be invalid, I think it would probably be best to wait to put affiliate links until you have a constant stream of viewers coming to your videos.

    the secret is human psychology and making actually great videos that get a very high view to subscribe ratio because not all watch time is equal! this is my realization this year and im growing to $1 million+ per month because of my new realized indepth knowledge!

  • @ILuvTrading
    @ILuvTrading 5 років тому +7

    This is typical info. I beg to differ about low quality everyday vs high quality once a week. Also giving what ur audience wants. I have 300k+ plus subs and 1 percent of my subs watch my vids. That is my strategy... everybody has a different strategy... and what my audience wants? Sure I’ll make a comparison on 2 diff phones and some want that stuff. The next day I’ll make a review on a trashcan. And the next day a video about fidget spinners. Those subs that watch the phone comparison don’t want to see a trashcan review or fidget spinner video. My strategy is not getting 100k views within one month as soon as I upload. I’m lucky to get 1k views in one month. But w my strategy it’s about a waiting period... my vids get slow traction a year or two even three years later. Of course many of my vids hardly get no views ever. But again I have many vids over 1 mill views. For me... the law of large numbers work for me. I don’t know how nor have the patience to have higher quality vids. Again... there are many diff strategies to be successful on youtube. That’s my two cents. 🤟👍

    Always get value from your channel. Some good points here and the livestream question is an excellent one; however, I don’t understand Tom’s answer at all. He mentioned one low performing video won’t hurt your overall channel’s discoverability, but live streamers tend to do many livestreams...and those type of videos tend to get much lower metrics than regular uploads. Will the multiple livestreams bring down your channels overall rating in the algorithm? If so, will unlisting them afterwards decrease this issue?

    • @SomewhatAwesomeGames
      @SomewhatAwesomeGames 6 років тому

      Livestreaming pretty much destroyed my channel. A couple months of livestreaming and my subs don't see my videos anymore. 125k subs and can't get 100 views on a video. Nobody receives them even with the bell ticked.
