  • Greetings from Kumandra! We’ve just released our resident Action Movie Dad’s latest tutorial, showing you how to recreate the organic look of the Druun from “Raya and the Last Dragon” entirely within Adobe After Effects! (With and without plugins!)
    In this tutorial, Daniel “Hashi” Hashimoto will show how the fractal family of filters can combine with CC Sphere to create volumetric and chaotic smoke and slime - and a unique way to utilize the Essential Graphics panel for visual effects - all with native AE effects!
    Or, if you want to do it WAY FASTER, Hashi shows how to utilize Trapcode Form, Universe, and Supercomp to create and composite a Druun into your scene in record time.

    33:59 - Duplication trick for added complexity
    37:22 - Combining our splash circle with the main ball
    41:06 - Mesh Warp to sit it on ground

Really smacks of the old VC tutorials, and your little homage to that at the beginning put a smile on my face. You have to export to a format that supports an alpha channel. So, something like ProRes 4444. Then, in AE, you also have to specify that you want to render RGB+Alpha. See AE's documentation for rendering out a file with an alpha channel.

      Good question! For the maps that you're making to be put into the sphere shape, they need to be 2:1 aspect ration to map properly to CC Sphere.
      For the sphere itself, there's no need to have it be 16:9 since a sphere is 1:1 and we're planning to place it in another comp, so why have the extra pixels?

    • @theActionMovieKid
      @theActionMovieKid 3 роки тому +1

      There are a handful of “long way around” approaches to creating your own light wrap, or edge blur or edge rays - almost all of them are some form of isolating your element and background, and then using multiple instances of your element’s matte to reveal blurred copies of a background layer being additively clipped on top of the original layer. Supercomp is like a cheat that does all that stuff without having to think much about it - but it’s possible to manually create some of these go-to compositing techniques.
