I found the game the most fun just going off and doing whatever happened naturally. Like I'm 52 and still haven't finished the story, ok I might of taken things a little too slow but ideally I'd say aim to beat the story by 50. That way you have most if not all the world unlocked, a good amount of dungeons, side quests and alters done and you have a good amount of region challenges complete for free xp, gold, skill points and paragon. Then you can just go right from finishing the story at 50 into grinding to 100. 1-50 should be about enjoying the first time playing a new game unless you wanted to be in the top 1000 for hardcore or if you really just don't care for the story in these types of games. Found myself using a non meta build and it felt really nice all the way through. It was considered an A tier build on Wudijo's ranking even still I had no issues and no deaths yet on World Tier 2.
Couple tips. Do the main story. Once you beat it, you'll have your mount, get all the statues of Lilith and do all the strongholds. You'll be renown 3. Now with your mount your can do side quests super easy. If you want to grind out dungeons you can but it's boring without a party. There is/was (depending on when you're reading this) a bug that lets you get credit for a dungeon you aren't in when a party member completes it. Meaning you can all run 4 separate dungeons and grind out regions and renown fast, but blizz is working to fix it so you won't have it for long. If you don't want to grind dungeons just mount up and hit the side quests. You're welcome
@@matthewfischer4532 I just explained how... How did you not read? How did you ask a question without forming a complete sentence... That last one was rhetorical.
Why grind side missions instead of dungeons, lower exp, worse gear progression, and a lot of time wasted moving from one side of the map to the other, dungeons are definately the way to go
@@AchilleasKouKounari side dungeons take way longer to complete and can get boring real fast. Trust me when I say it's not fun. You can grind dungeons if you prefer, which I did say. But it's easier to do it with a party.
@@AchilleasKouKounari I don't think you read my comment now that I'm rereading yours. I already covered everything you said and more lol. If you want to do dungeons, be my guest, but it's extremely slow. At least with side quests you can mount.
Great ending statements, man. Some people online forget this is supposed to be fun, not just a chore. If you're not racing, there's no reason to do things "optimally".
Brother, 100 percent. Taking my time has been way more enjoyable than being caught in a meaningless race to nowhere. Only reason I ended up here was to see how people are setting up their paragon tree. This was not the video for that!
To be clear. I played for 7 hours and got from lvl 54-57 doing lots of cellars and side quests and stuff. Then i did a couple nightmare dungeons and swooshed past 57-60 in like an hour. There is no experience outside of dungeons and nightmare dungeons is the king of exp. Nothing is even remotely comparable.
I finally finished the renown grind on all zones yesterday, had broken it up with thinking doing a nightmare dungeon (of a dungeon i hadn't done before) would also unlock the aspect and the renown, it does unlock the aspect but does not unlock the renown so for any renown farmers don't waste your time in low nightmare dungeons thinking you can get more xp and still work on renown like i did
A heads up for anyone looking to get world tier 3 ASAP: The minimum required level to equip drops from world tier 3 is 45. IE: if you complete an event, get a sacred item, it will require lv 45 at least(even if you are lower than that). My own experience as a lv 40 sorc taught me so.
Oh so you can't like, beat the capstone dungeon on one character and then start a new character in world tier 3? Dang I was hoping for a challenge on a fresh druid
Subscribed. Excellent content bar none. I am glad I found you wudijo. I just crossed level 50 and still in Act 5 so will power through the story rapidly now and take your advice. I still had one confusion on the renown system. I am planning for multiple characters. So if I am on my necro currently at 50, should I complete all regions in nightmare difficult once I enter nightmare so that other characters don't have to bother for renown rewards across the account? Again, phenomenal job. congratulations.
I‘m done with the campaign but chose the wrong char. What is the best way for my twink (adventure mode) to level up to 50? Simply doing strongholds, dungeons for the regions‘ renown? Or anything else?
I'm an explorer, I love to discover new areas and altars and can't help but do quests that I discover. For that reason I recently got to level 50 just after I started act 3. Still having great fun, even though everyone and their grandmothers keep saying that you should be done with the campaign by level 40-50. So my suggestion is to do whatever you like, in what order you like as long as you're having fun. There is no right or wrong way to play D4 as long as you do it your way.
This is good to hear I have been told you can't progress past 50 unless you beat campaign I'm level 30 and still. On act 1 because I tend to do everything
I'm finding it surprising how quickly/easy it is to level an alt character skipping the campaign after you beat it once with another character. I made a rogue yesterday and after barely half a day of on-off play I'm level 26. Just running Tree of Whispers stuff and opening up the map again and finding the waypoints etc, running Tier 1 until I get to around 50 then will jump to Tier 3 once I get the gear.
After you beat the campaign and unlock tier 3, can you play tier 3 on that rogue? Aka I'm waiting to make a druid until I get tier 3 so I can level faster, will that not work?
@@droid5785 I'm lvl 45 now on my Rogue, just grinding Tier 1 a few hours a day and blasting through Whispers stuff with ease, doing the dungeons they highlight each time. Even stuff that's 3 or 4 levels too high for me you just annihalate stuff, but I'm using barrage still maxed out and it's really consistent with the same build here (except using barrage instead of piercing). Once I get to T3 I'll start putting the piercing aspect on and switch to it, because you need those stronger drops but you switch gear less often vs pre lvl 50.
Still on act 5 and I am lvl 51. I found myself way over-leveled relative to the campaign, but that was because I was trying to get lvl 3 level 3 for each region. I wasn't trying to xp grind at all, but was just doing world events if I saw them and the occasional dungeon.
Yeah I started forcing myself to focus solely on the campaign at a certain point because I was getting a lot of levels thru renown grind, events, etc. I'm at lvl 49 now about to start the second questline of the split quests in Act 5. So I'm hoping it lines up pretty close.
@9:05 when you make a new character you get all the important stuff from renown (skill points, potion, obols) right away at level 1 in softcore. The only reason to do renown again would be the top rewards, XP and gold which is not worth it. You want those paragon points so just do waypoints, altars, strongholds. That will set you up to about level 4. Then sides or group up for split dungeons so you get 120 renown about every 10-20 mins.
Just wanted to correct one section. You can find items of higher level if you ge to a higher world tier fast enough. I got to WT 3 by level 43 and was only finding level 47+ items. That being said if you are under leveled you do level up quite quickly due to the xp bonus
@@droid5785 you would have to beat the world tier dungeon. The enemies in world tier 3 start at lvl 50 and then scale with your level after that. Same with world tier 4. When I got to the 4th world tier be enemies were 6 or so levels above mine by default because my hero level was lower than the minimum.
Love your content! You make the game look easy. I've been doing side quests and a few dungeons alongside the campaign,, so I'm around level 43 in Act 3, with no mount. I use waypoints to help move around, but still doing a lot of walking with my turtle druid. I hope opening the paragon board helps w/ finishing the campaign because there are times my Druid feel a bit "squishy" against bosses/elites, and packs. Sometimes I have to run around and wait for cool downs then go back at it. Again, enjoy the content!
Renown bonuses: skill points, pots, etc all carry over to other PCs on the same account. The only thing that doesn't is the gold and the renown score. So starting a new PC will have all pots, skill points and from the original PCs renown. You can redo the renown for the new PC but you will only get gold the second time and beyond.
I think eventually there will be a best start for classes, like Druid's in Scosglen to be near their class quest, Barbs in Dry Stepps for theirs just to get that early power boost.
I'm in no particular rush to reach level 100 or beat the campaign. This said, I have noticed that after reaching level 50 the leveling rate has decreased significantly. I'm playing on Veteran, and it took a LONG time to advance from level 50 to level 53, where I am currently. Previous levels came at a very consistend rate, and I didn't feel there's any significant stretch of time I didn't make any progress, leveling wise. I have played "completionist style", and I'm in Act VI right now, so soon I'll get to see if Nightmare boosts leveling again, because right now, as I said, it slowed down by a lot. As a "pro tip" for people who play like me, and enjoy exploring, doing side quests, etc: I would prioritize reaching the first 2, 3 quests of Act IV once you're close to that point, because that's when you get your mount, which is so so useful to get around.
Leveling definitely slows down after 50, but if you're still on tier 1 or 2, it's going to be really slow since 50+ is meant to have the 100%/200% bonus from nightmare and torment.
You're lvling slow at 50 cause you haven't beat the campaign. Mobs don't scale past 50 till you unlock wt3. It can halt progression a lot if you don't finish the campaign by 50, levelling wise.
I finished the entire campaign by the time i hit lv52 and in world tier 1 xD im still in wt1 taking my time and not rushing through things i still got exploration to do lol
@wudijo Your comment on Renown is incorrect, the POINTS, Potion Slots, OBOLS capacity and Paragon points are REALM WIDE unlocks, you get them for every character. My new toons start out with 10 skill points available and 9 potion slots (Paragon points too but those are locked till you hit lvl 50) Only the XP and GOLD bonus is Individual and those are marked with a single Humanoid icon
5:40 I got to torment at level 59 and the items could definitely drop above your level. In torment's case, it was a lvl60 minimum. Since then, they do drop at my current level, that's true.
@@Dead_Goat list the "multiple times" his information was wrong. Technically, he didn't even talk about ancestral items' level requirement, he just forgot to mention it. Probably because it didn't happen to him. Nothing else in this video was wrong, was it?
I am new to Diablo and the last half of this video seamed to be in a different language to me. Lol I stoped playing COD and came to Diablo OMG I have so much to learn it almost seams hopeless
Separately grinding full renown per region seems to be a mistake. You should start doing sigils right away because that way you get dungeon completions right away too while leveling up your glyphs.
Im at 82 and im feeling super burned out. Are nightmare (sacred/ancestral) dungeons the only way to level at a decent rate at this point? If I run t26 it feels too easy if I run t29 I get stun locked to infinity. Its quite frustrating idk what to do.. Even went back and completed every dungeon just to have them completed but those 30 dungeons or so only equated to a level and some change.
5:05 Sacred items have a minimum level of 45 and ancestral items have a minimum level of 60 actually. So if you get them before you hit those levels you won't be able to equip them.
Hell tide is awesome and doing events that spawn monsters endlessly help get cinders. Haewaster hell tide area has some good events for that The maxroll altar of Lilith markers are wack. One of them is in the wrong place all together and some are in undiscovered areas. It’s bad I was 59 when I did the level 70 capstone. It was a fun fight being lower and being a challenge then being overpowered
same here. I've been lucky and got 3 uniques so far on lvl 53 and it sucks to know that they will just help me to get through a couple of levels and that's it. Already getting better sacred yellows now.
There is no question that Wudi is one of the best players in D4. If you want progress very fast then follow his instructions. For some noob players like me, I like to be slow, reading every words (or listening) every encounter and take time to enjoy the game as noob.
I have been farming pvp areas and collected every cosmetic from it. Since farming I haven’t seen a single other player. The loot and mob density is insane.
I had a lvl 60 druid chase me all around the zone. I was rogue and just dashed and horsed away. His main purpose in life was to kill others lower lvl than him.
You are my go-to Diablo scientist I've reached level 70 I am not an efficient player certainly not racing this game is built for someone with ADHD there's literally distractions around every corner. I followed your guides on Max roll what I'm looking for is an actual image of the rogue Paragon boards, the complete all eight board and the beginning board. I see lots of guides and lists for glyphs I want to visually see the Paragon board all of the glyph sockets etc anyone know where I can find this?
My one major gripe is how they have done the renown I was hoping I could do some content on my main and then switch to an alt and do their specific dungeons for the renown ect. but no they make you start all over again without getting the rewards (which you already got) so it only really makes sense to do it all on one character.
@WhatsTheTakeaway Blasting... the story that is 🤣. I am finding the Side Content to be so engaging. I loved the Under the Fat Goose Inn questline. Scosglen was really engaging with its Pagan beliefs and different conflicts. The Open World is the best open world I have played in a very long time. I just want to keep exploring. So much verticality and fun ways to traverse. I log on with an objective and get lost along the way every night.
is skiping the story ( after you finish the story on your first charakter ofc) the fastest way to level a second character or is doing it still the best option ( solo ) ?
If you skipped Nightmare Dungeons until Torment, what did you do between finishing Renown and hitting level 70/Torment? Helltide isn't always up, and outdoor activities is somewhat vague.
Should i hold off on nightmare dungeons till 70? I got to torment at lvl 59 and i noticed everything is 73+ also ancestral has a minimum lvl requirement of 60 to equip
I got to WT3 last night at level 52 or 53 on my barb. Probably should have done it earlier! It finally feels like things are really starting to open up nicely. I finished the campaign in the upper 40s (a bit overleveled, I had done quite a bit of dungeons, side quests and strongholds on the way). My wife was in the low 40s on her rogue, and wasn't having any issues (blasting WT1, pretty tame).
@Blake Yeah, I thought that too. After leveling two "slow" classes on WT2 (barb twice, druid once)...I don't really care. Just did whatever felt fine to plow through the story. The real challenge starts when you push nightmare dungeons.
So Wudi, I know you’re making just a metric TON of guide videos right now, but I’m curious to know your full thoughts and feelings with the game now that it’s fully out everywhere and there are no embargo’s on information. Do you like it? What do you, as one of the best Diablo 3 and probably 4 players in the world, think Blizzard could do to make the game even better? I would love to see a video on this topic once you’re finished with all your insanely useful guide videos.
I just started the last Act and I'm level 49. After the campaign I'm planning on finishing up all the remaining side quests and renown for all the zones in Tier 3 after I hit level 50. Will I find enough uniques/sacred items to boost my character this way. Or do I have to do the nightmare dungeons right away? I want to try to save those for later if I can.

I'm only 51 atm. Leveling grinded to a hault at lvl 50. 😮
Thanks for the video Wudijo! 😁👍
How
@@matthewfischer4532 I just explained how...
Great vid. I'm level 40 and still in act 1. I think I should do more of the campaign. Lol
I find your explanations quite helpful!
I finally finished the renown grind on all zones yesterday, had broken it up with thinking doing a nightmare dungeon (of a dungeon i hadn't done before) would also unlock the aspect and the renown, it does unlock the aspect but does not unlock the renown so for any renown farmers don't waste your time in low nightmare dungeons thinking you can get more xp and still work on renown like i did
Oh wow, I'm glad I saw this comment. I was thinking exactly like you, but did not realize it didn't give rep. Thank you lol
This doesn't seem to be true (anymore)
Ancestral items have a minimum level requirement of 60. I went into torment at 58 and couldn’t equip them when they dropped.
Glitch
Yeah I went into it at 56, so hitting 60 felt like the most sastiying achievement ievemt so far haha
To add to this: sacred has a minimum of 45.
@@matthijsgroot3429 Yeah I did the first capstone dungeon at lvl 43 and it took me some time to start equipping those, I was so pissed off :D
If I’m one shorting everything at 54 on wt3 should I do the capstone for tier 4?
Today I unlocked torment difficulty at level 59 and my first Ancestral drop required level 60. I did not receive any more until I hit level 60.
*taught
Oh so you can't like, beat the capstone dungeon on one character and then start a new character in world tier 3? Dang I was hoping for a challenge on a fresh druid
@@demrickwable ty!
great video! all the information was very helpful.
Loving the D4 content man, excellent work
I love this game but I truly hate level scaling.. really took all the fun out of the leveling process during the campaign
First time seeing your content. Liked and subscribed...very helpful info that will help time-constrained weekend slayers like me!!
@@jordankibbee3441 I just got to level 54 and is in the last act so its definitively possible.
I’m takin notes !
funny thing is if you get all of the altars you almost max out each tier without even touching the event content
Can you play tier 3 as a level 1 from the beginning? Or are you fighting lvl 50 enemies off the rip
Thanks a lot I was looking for something like this
Love your content!
Nice guide mate. Thanks for the help! :)
I think eventually there will be a best start for classes, like Druid's in Scosglen to be near their class quest, Barbs in Dry Stepps for theirs just to get that early power boost.
Keep up the great content Wudijo!
the first guy to say: Play what you like and have fun. I liked that 😁
Just so you know, ancestral items require you to be level 60 to equip. I got in torment while being level 56
Great guide dude ty
Moin Meister!
Thanks for all the content! Got me hyped ^^
Awesome video dude thankyou
@@Stygiophobic Just beat Act VI and started doing end-game activities on WT3. Holy crap, huge difference.
I finished the entire campaign by the time i hit lv52 and in world tier 1 xD im still in wt1 taking my time and not rushing through things i still got exploration to do lol
you got my sub for life great job
@wudijo Your comment on Renown is incorrect, the POINTS, Potion Slots, OBOLS capacity and Paragon points are REALM WIDE unlocks, you get them for every character. My new toons start out with 10 skill points available and 9 potion slots (Paragon points too but those are locked till you hit lvl 50)
Only the XP and GOLD bonus is Individual and those are marked with a single Humanoid icon
Story and altars got me within ~60 renown from 3rd renown in all zones.
Sacred min drop lvl 45 and ancestoral drop min 60 so you can still get gear you can't equip.
Very good advice
5:40 I got to torment at level 59 and the items could definitely drop above your level. In torment's case, it was a lvl60 minimum. Since then, they do drop at my current level, that's true.
Yes ancestrals drop at lvl 60 Minimum and sacreds drop as 45 iirc. He potentialy pushed so hard that he didn't notice hehe
@@izaruburs9389 Yea his information was wrong multiple times.
@@Dead_Goat list the "multiple times" his information was wrong. Technically, he didn't even talk about ancestral items' level requirement, he just forgot to mention it. Probably because it didn't happen to him.
Nothing else in this video was wrong, was it?
How would one go about leveling a second character solo? Should we skip campaign and focus on open world stuff or just do the campaign again?
Goat
I am new to Diablo and the last half of this video seamed to be in a different language to me. Lol I stoped playing COD and came to Diablo OMG I have so much to learn it almost seams hopeless
Separately grinding full renown per region seems to be a mistake. You should start doing sigils right away because that way you get dungeon completions right away too while leveling up your glyphs.
Great video thank you!
Great video thanks for the tips .
Also would u be able to do a video explaining the best places to farm for the rights rolls after level 50
Lvl 88... been running Helltides all the time, and besides that I'm lvling glyphs in NM dungeons and it seems to be working with me
Great info! Thank you :)
Great breakdown very in depth without be overwhelming
This is very helpful advice for those transitioning into WT3 difficulty
Great Video Thank you :)
5:05 Sacred items have a minimum level of 45 and ancestral items have a minimum level of 60 actually. So if you get them before you hit those levels you won't be able to equip them.
I'm starting nightmare dungeons today, just in time after they got buffed 😎
For solo players leveling alts is it more beneficial to skip campaign or replay it? In my case I maxed out renown if that would factor in.
I got level 50 doing only the campaign quests, plus a few dungeons for aspects. No sides quests
Thanks!
Hell tide is awesome and doing events that spawn monsters endlessly help get cinders. Haewaster hell tide area has some good events for that
The maxroll altar of Lilith markers are wack. One of them is in the wrong place all together and some are in undiscovered areas. It’s bad
I was 59 when I did the level 70 capstone. It was a fun fight being lower and being a challenge then being overpowered
You said you didn’t do any nightmare dungeons in wt3. What did you do to farm xp from say level 60 till you could go up to wt4?
Dude all these streamers/tubers got carried by 3 other people and constantly were told the best cheese spots. Its different for regular players
@@plaguedoctor5657 this
Ancestral items have a min level requirement of 60. I did it at 55 and had a bit of work to actually equip the gear
dafuq you did the capstone for torment at 55?
i wish we can upgrade uniques items to a higher power i got this one at lvl 57 im lvl 74 now would love to have more dmg on it now
Silly me. I have been exploring and loving the combat and quests I randomly found while ignoring the storyline. It's a good thing I love diablo 4.
How many hours do you think it took to gather every cosmetic in the pvp area? Can you still get all the cosmetics with pvp off?
@@tonwisniewski less than 5 hours. You can waypoint between the PvP areas and just kill the big boss and reset. Usually gives 5k seed per run.
@@Salsa2o7 Thanks for the reply and information.
I appreciate this!
Currently level 44, been a great time. Storm Druid :D
Yoooooo Wudijo going viral. Hell ya!
PSA: Tier 1 dungeons are level 54, not 55. Mouse over a monster and look at its level. All of my monsters in a tier 10 dungeon were 63.
Wudi says, "You should finish the campaign between 40-45"
Me at level 43 entering Act 3 ...🐢
Lol me too bro
49, half way through 3 :)
Small correction: Ancestral Items have a required level of 60 (at least that's how it went for me).
This is what i wanted to know. Thanks alot wudj
Nice work 👍
I can't believe he achieved lvl 100 so fast without any help or cheat, even full time playing... it takes too long to level up
If you skipped Nightmare Dungeons until Torment, what did you do between finishing Renown and hitting level 70/Torment? Helltide isn't always up, and outdoor activities is somewhat vague.
There's like over 200 side quests to do in between hell tides!
@@CZProductions But i did most of those getting full renown.
Should i hold off on nightmare dungeons till 70? I got to torment at lvl 59 and i noticed everything is 73+ also ancestral has a minimum lvl requirement of 60 to equip
What is a good level to complete the campaign on? Currently 42 and almost at the end
Ancestral Items have a level requirement of lvl 60. I got boostet to World Tier 4 with my Barb on lvl ~50 and only found lvl 60 Ancestral Items :')
Did the wt4 dungeon on my rogue at lvl 55 while my barb mate is still not able to do it at lvl 60. 😅
He doesn't want any help though.
I would love to see a video on this topic once you’re finished with all your insanely useful guide videos.
me and my friend went to Torment difficulty at level 56 and ancestral items was not equipable until lvl 60
Be about level 50 by the end of the campaign I completed it by level 44 and went straight to world tier 3 and its rough.
Sacred Items starts at lvl 45 and ancestral at 60. Atleast that is what my own testing has shown.
what do you do to get xp fast from lv 50, 60 to 70 for wt4?
I just started the last Act and I'm level 49. After the campaign I'm planning on finishing up all the remaining side quests and renown for all the zones in Tier 3 after I hit level 50. Will I find enough uniques/sacred items to boost my character this way. Or do I have to do the nightmare dungeons right away? I want to try to save those for later if I can.
Are you playing on low graphics? Does it prevent stutters and stuff?
I just got the mount and am lvl 58. I am now on act 5 WT1 attempting to clear it to move to WT2.
