Funny that people complain about this not being enough like the original, yet this one was one of the few in HeartGold/SoulSilver redone by the original composer himself.
I really missed when Pokemon gave us traditional sounding music like this. Something about it just makes things feel more special instead of the constant techno we get with recent titles
I agree, but it Unova had a lot of great music that was slightly techno and started the shift in music. However, Unova had a lot of variation when it came to music.
If I were to live any place in Johto, this is where I'd want to be. Quiet town, rich with culture in the heart of the region. National Park close by, with Goldenrod a hop, skip and jump away from that. And from there you could board a train for a quick trip to Kanto too!
It's Kyoto. Ecruteak is based on Kyoto, Goldenrod on Osaka, and much like in the games, you can go to Osaka rather easily from Kyoto as well as hop on a train to Tokyo (aka Kanto).
If you wanna get more technical, the games are 13 years old since it came out first in Japan in 2009. I agree though, it's hard to believe that the remakes are now older than even the original Gold and Silver were when the remakes released.
@@ledues3336 Just speculation but based on recent release patterns from GF i’m thinking either late 23 or early 24. If not, it will be the gen 5 remakes
Absolutely loved HG and SS as a kid on my Nintendo DSI in my favorite region. Along with Black and White and with the remakes. Times were so simple back then. They were my favorite Pokémon games of all time and I can’t wait until they get remade onto the switch.
People may complain about this version, but they miss the context. This version fits Ecruteak because it’s a historical place, while the Cianwood version, well, fits Cianwood.
They used such a unique sounding string, and it only helps it sound more relaxing. I personally like Cianwood more though, it's melancholy on another level.
no way you're serious. it sounds unique because it's not a banjo.... pokemon is a japanese game made by the japanese. all the music in these games are made by japanese composers. i dont know much about japan, but they clearly used a traditional japanese string instrument. not a banjo... 🤦♀
This gives me the feels all the time. When I think about the older games town and city themes, I think of this. Best city theme in all of pokemon. Change me mind ye filthy landlubbers.
For whatever reason I prefer the original soundtrack to most songs from HGSS, but this one is an absolute masterpiece and totally surpasses the GSC version.
Really hate this rendition. Just get on with it, mate. Ekruteak/Cianwood was my favorite town theme in GSC, and this version just feels needlessly jazz-ified. It ruins the vibes of the original by trying way too hard.

Cianwood City is closer to the original GSC song.
This improven on the original so much, extremely good use of instruments, counterpoint redone, just overall far better.
That's so sweet. Maybe this is how he imagined it to sound like from the beginning.
@@moblinmajorgeneral I agree its far better than the ecruteak one

WTF does "traditional" music even mean?
scarlet and violet's OST sucks so much

Beautiful. This music makes me want to spend the rest of my life just chilling in Ecruteak City next to my Pokemon.

one of the best town themes along with Malie city
Sootopolis, Hearthome, Azalea, Littleroot, Jublife, Drifveil, Opelucid (future), the Bw2 starter town and the last City from SwSh are also 10/10

It's neat the made Ecruteak City and Cianwood City's themes while the same they have unique instrumentals to tell them apart.
Ecruteak city is soooo much better, the japanese sounds and influence is sooo beautiful
Who else tried saving the game right next to the water puddle with the relaxing falling water sound? 💧
This is so badass. What incredible music for the younglings and masters to hear .
Ecruteak will always be my favorite city theme in Johto.
This theme fits so much.
Classic !! Why doesn't this have more views?!
Because people are fake fans
They just don't know how to look it up! (Forgot the town name)
I love the cianwood one more but yeah you are right
Because Pokémon will pull down this video after about a year.

this song makes me want to cry and i wish i was actually in ecruteak i bet it looks so pretty irl
Yes, kyoto does look very nice irl, especially at night
I’d pay any amount of money just to go back and re experience this whole era again tbh

Cianwood, but more oriental.
Why the start of the music remember me the intro of American Dad?
Why does 1:01 sounds like a Uk drill beat
is this meant to sound similar to cianwood town
yeah they use the same song
in the original anyway......
In g/s/c they have the same theme
Yep. This is the same song as cianwood but emphasized with way more traditional Japanese instruments

Check out the Cianwood music, then. In the original Gen 2, Cianwood and Ecruteak used the same music.
