When Blade grabbed his Blade from being stuck in the wall, the sword movements he makes cut up the vampires to pieces. They didn't just fall apart from him bearing them up lol. That was one of the coolest scenes.
Fresh and living children… in fact the original script and storyboarding had it where there were child skulls/skeletons (some infants and toddlers, in particular) around Pearl when Blade and Karen came into his lair. Ppl really forgot that in essence, this was a Horror film, and a action movie, but at its core, a horror story.
The serum that Blade takes it's just to supress the hunger for blood. He's not affected by sun like a regular vampire, since he took the traits of a vampire because his mother was bitten while he was in the womb. That's also why he's called "The Daywalker".
I'm surprised toward the end of the movie that both of them seem to totally forget Whistler's clear exposition to Karen about Blade's hybrid nature between being human and having Vampire traits after his mother was bitten. It's obvious that Blade has inherited certain vampire traits like when they said is ok for Blade to be out in the sun toward the end of the movie. I was like the other vampires have been referring to Blade as "The Daywalker" throughout the entire movie, unless they thought it was his nickname LOL!
36:20 Those movements are capoeira, a Brazilian martial art that originated during slavery; slaves would practice self-defense but it just looked like dancing to their slave owners. At the time, Blade was not marketed as a Marvel movie at all despite the character being owned by them. Also at the time, causal movie goers were not aware of Blade’s origins in the comics and just thought that he was just an original creation. In the early comics, Blade wasn’t even half-vampire. He was more or less a very trained dude in the art of armed and unarmed combat. But later on, they reconned him as the character he is today being born a half-vampire. He possessed all of the abilities of vampires but has none of their standard weaknesses such as sunlight, silver and garlic. Oh the irony of Ryan Reynolds’s Hannibal Pool coming nearly full circle with Blade. It takes a real badass black man to say a line about ice skating and make it awesome (albeit it's still darn silly, haha). P.S. This was just a thing Snipes said in a meeting once - not verbatim, but about someone ice skating uphill - and the writer and/or director loved it so much they put it in the movie.
Hey Daniel and Sam, Blade was one of the first superhero movies to take the comic book material seriously and treated them with adult themes. -------- The success of Blade gave Hollywood a blueprint to have huge profits following the source material, maintain adult themes and incorporating the tortured back stories. -------- Nuff respect to Blade and Wesley Snipes for laying the ground work for darker superhero flicks.
No, it wasn't. They changed everything about the comics in this movie. People only pretend they took it serious because they know nothing of the comics before they changed the comics too.
More Wesley Snipes top picks: "White Men Can't Jump", "Money Train" both with Woody Harrelson, "Passanger 57", "Drop Zone", "New Jack City". Also, Snipes was in a movie you guys watched on the channel, "Major League".
Not to mention: son of a US Army General, Military Academy at West Point graduate, helicopter pilot and eventually an instructor at West Point before turning to music. Kris actually landed a helicopter on Johnny Cash’s property to give him a demo tape that helped kickstart Kris’ career.

Whoa what a surprise this one is. How have you never seen Blade?? I love you two so much I’m watching the Dodgers/Padres game on mute because I can’t wait for this reaction. I LOVE Blade!!! Also, watch Blade 2 someday.
The beginning of Marvel's golden age on film with the first character of the comics to have a box-office smash. The 2nd Rated-R movie for a Marvel character after The Punisher (1989). Undoubtedly the first, real kick-a** Vampire movie. Following his first mainstream appearances on Spider-Man:The Animated Series (1994-1998). From the darkside of the Marvel Universe, inspired by blaxploitation films (a la' Shaft & Blacula) and debuting 50 plus years ago in 'The Tomb of Dracula' comics as one of Drac's many foes. Prior to being casted as Blade, Wesley Snipes as actor/producer was involved with developing Black Panther (formerly a Sony property). Frustrated with how to make BP, he received the BLADE script and said yes to it. Snipes had never known that Blade or Black Panther were both from Marvel. The Blade trilogy was written by David S. Goyer (Man of Steel, The Dark Knight Trilogy). The director Stephen Norrington (effects background) did a great job with this. Stephen Dorff (The Gate, SFW, Immortals) doesn't get enough credit as one of the best vampire villains on screen, Deacon Frost. The blending of everything in this film is phenomenal. His origins to the world he's lives, breaths and hunts in. No expense spared on blood, gore, suspense, action and drama. Cool merch with the prequel comic, Blade #0 to the soundtrack by TVT records and the PS1/Game Boy Color games. Part 2 from 2002 is great and Part 3 from 2004 is controversial. At the end of the day, it's great to see more love and appreciation for the Daywalker. RIP indeed to musician/actor Kristofferson as Whistler.
Vampire rules change from lore to lore. In this the saliva carries the vampire virus thats transmitted. In other lore you need to drink a vampires blood. Some garlic, holy water and crosses work. In other's they dont. Its a mixed bag so you have to pay attention to the lore of each property.
You made a comment at 27:37 about if they turned everyone in the world to a vampire, would they not have anything to drink anymore. If you haven't seen it, there's a really interesting vampire movie called Daybreakers that deals with exactly this idea. It stars Ethan Hawke, Sam Neill, and Willem Dafoe.
Definitely watch Blade 2 it's go's to a new level I watched this back when it came out because it was a vampire film but it based on a Marvel comic but they changed certain things from the comics.
Would be interested as to why you think that. He apparently was born in Florida, moved to New York and grew up there before actually graduating from high school back in Florida. He then attended university back in New York.
If you haven't reacted to it yet, you should add Rising Sun (Wesley Snipes, Sean Connery, Harvey Keitel) to your list. Also, 13th Warrior (Antonio Banderas, Omar Sharif) is worth a look - based on the Micheal Crichton novel "Eaters of the Dead."
Definitely check out Blade II. Great supporting cast, excellent soundrack, and expands on the world that the first movie created. Trinity is... just ok. I would say easily the weakest of the three. Some of the ideas are just silly, so I was not able to just sit back and enjoy it. No spoilers, though, will let you make up your own mind about what works and what doesn't.
"He definitely commands the room when he enters it" - Remember that line, wait till you catch up to where the MCU is now, oh boy you're in for such a ride over the 34 (to date!) MCU movies.

Love you two. You guys are superb.
Oh you need to watch To Wong Foo! It’s my favorite Wesley Snipes film. I’ll go recommend it wherever y’all be listening to that shit.
Oh the irony of Ryan Reynolds’s Hannibal Pool coming nearly full circle with Blade.
He did make the third Blade my favorite, due to his well-manscaped smart-assery and his tongue lashing of Parker Posie (smackable face).
It sticks in my memory even more than 1&2.
Glad to be re-watching with you guys; looking forward to Reaction Three.
Blade is my favorite Wesley Snipes but I also loved him in Drop Zone with Yancy Butler and Gary Busey (skydiving) and US Marshals with Robert Downey Jr and Tommy Lee Jones (Fugitive Part 2).
"My sword!". "His blade." lol
Blade 2 is absolutely incredible.
Did they see the Underworld movies yet? 🤔
Also: this iconic late 90s look and opening scene 💜💜💜
The visual your seeing in the movie is actually how VAMPIRES SEE....
"Is this his batcave?"
"His bladecave?"
The place where a blade lives is usually called a scabbard or sheath 😉
Stephen Dorff, Morgan Freeman and Daniel Craig in The Power of One is a must now.
Yeah my boy Stephen Dorff can fight in real life, he shows his boxing skills in that movie.
One of my favourite Marvel movies of all time, and Wesley Snipes is perfect as Blade.
...best opening credits sequence of all time? It's certainly up there imo
Love this franchise!
Me too. Except the last one. Good ideas with poor execution.
Fun fact Steven Dorf (frost) had red contacts in. but he couldn't see. so he did that fight scene partially blind
You have to do Blade 2, it is awesome also.
27:36 the answer to this question was explored in the movie daybreakers.
Sitting here in Florida with the hurricane. This vid just made my week
Stay safe!
Kris Kristofferson, AKA Whistler. Singer, song writer, and actor. He died on September 28th 2024, he was 88 years old.
Not to mention: son of a US Army General, Military Academy at West Point graduate, helicopter pilot and eventually an instructor at West Point before turning to music. Kris actually landed a helicopter on Johnny Cash’s property to give him a demo tape that helped kickstart Kris’ career.
People think that Ironman started the superhero craze, and it did, but Blade walked so Ironman could run.
Please watch the rest of the trilogy after this. It's totally worth it 👌.
This is the original Marvel hero, the OG of them all. This is a good film but Blade 2 is the best of the trilogy 👌🏽 can't wait for the next one.
Also as you don't do Marvel movies, then this isn't a spoiler .. but in Deadpool and Wolverine, Blade is back in that and he got the biggest cheer in the cinema when he appeared because everyone loves him.
As far as Whistler & Blade go: you don't get to choose your mother, but you can choose your father.
This was me & The Wife’s first movie date.
Let's goooo. This is my favorite Marvel movie. The 2nd blade is pretty good too. Awesome reaction y'all.
If you're not sure if you've seen Blade, then you definitely haven't seen it.
Great to see Blade on the channel! Can't wait for you to watch Blade II which is even better imo. Wesley Snipes is THE Blade. He's born to play this role!
Yeah!!!
Another TBR Schmitt!!!!!
Most believe that Iron Man was the kickoff of the whole modern CMU, but it was actually Blade.
I love this era of superhero movies, they had so much license to be weird. Blade in particular is insanely quotable. So fucking cool! 😎
Vampire rules change from lore to lore. In this the saliva carries the vampire virus thats transmitted. In other lore you need to drink a vampires blood. Some garlic, holy water and crosses work. In other's they dont. Its a mixed bag so you have to pay attention to the lore of each property.
5:57 Foreshadowing
10:04 Never Touch Blade Sword
19:23 Ya'll Screwed now!
27:54 Not on Foot Fool!
38:17 Famous Blade Quote!
Love this movie 👍. Thanks for the great reaction ❤️. Yes please continue the series 👍
Definitely watch Blade 2 it's go's to a new level I watched this back when it came out because it was a vampire film but it based on a Marvel comic but they changed certain things from the comics.
Snipes grew up in Asia. He is a legitimate martial artist.
Would be interested as to why you think that. He apparently was born in Florida, moved to New York and grew up there before actually graduating from high school back in Florida. He then attended university back in New York.
@@Ernwaldo you are correct. i mean he trained in the Asian martial arts. and Capoeira. asian spirit.
Blade II dials up the awesomeness
Definitely check out Blade II. Great supporting cast, excellent soundrack, and expands on the world that the first movie created.
Trinity is... just ok. I would say easily the weakest of the three. Some of the ideas are just silly, so I was not able to just sit back and enjoy it. No spoilers, though, will let you make up your own mind about what works and what doesn't.
BLADE FIRST TIME WATCHING (grabs popcorn)! YUP!
Christopher Lee as Dracula will always be my favorite vampire but Snipes as Blade is definitely the coolest.
Their review is very funny in hindsight
This movie proved to Marvel they can make a movie and it actually be great.
"He definitely commands the room when he enters it" - Remember that line, wait till you catch up to where the MCU is now, oh boy you're in for such a ride over the 34 (to date!) MCU movies.
Man, think i first saw Kris in an 80's movie back in the day (i'm old) Such a cool human being. RIP. Loads of YT vids from people who knew him.... he was special. We lost a good man. I'm also old enough to remember Traci. She did well for herself gettin out of the old biz and into hollywood.
Snipes is truly iconic in the darkest chapter of the MCU - Kristofferson gives gritty gravitas - the first sequel is all you really need IMO.
