The two kill counts a week format satiates me like no food or drink ever could.
clearly you haven't tried ghost energy
@@combatculture-o5v I'm no cannibal.
Same
Kane Hodder, Tony Todd and Robert Englund being in a movie together was The Avengers before The Avengers, and they did it here before Hatchet. All they needed was Nick Castle and Gunnar Hansen and it would have been complete.
the next best thing to that would have to be Stephen King, Tobe Hooper, and Clive Barker appearing together in that one scene from Sleepwalkers (the movie's quality aside)
Angus Scrimm was in this too, just in VO mode.
The crossover we needed
NOT ALL HEROS WEAR CAPES
Who's gonna tell them the date of the first avengers comic?
When James start Talking about Genie I thought of this quote for Dr.Doofenshmirtz
"You know what I never understood? Genies. They tell you to wish for whatever you want but then they add some terrible twist. Like you wish to jump high so they turn you into a frog. Why? Who gains from that? The genie? Where's the benefit?"
The genie benefits from finding it funny I guess 🤔
The point, like any mythological antagonist, is the moral lesson: nothing is free, everything gained comes with a price and the bigger the instant gain is, the bigger the price is.
For horror sake, this version of the story results in the death of the wisher regardless what they wish for. So I especially appreciate the writers adding in the time-old example of a djinn wish gone wrong with the guys mum dying as the price for him to instantly gain $1M.
“But if it’s any consolation, *_THAT HURT LIKE HELL!”_* Still one of my favorite jokes from the movie. It’s so good, even TeamFourStar made an homage to it!
@@Jackie-McCann when Cell said that, I fucking popped off "no way that was a wishmaster reference!"
that's how i heard of this movie.
You know it’s iconic if it makes it into TFS or YGOTAS
I'll take a very enthusiastic walk
@@nikolai1326 Taka said he based Imperfect Cell's voice off of the Djinn.
"That hurt like hell!" Is still one of my favorite lines delivered.
Fun fact: Andrew Divoff's performance as The Djinn was one of the main influences for the voice used for Imperfect Cell in DBZ Abridged. They even reference the "That hurt like Hell" line from the movie.
That's amazing! It makes so much sense
The performance of all his forms were too inspired by Sideshow Bob from the Simpsons. Also:
YOU WANNA SEE ME DRINK THIS GUY!?
Me "What was the name of the movie with a Genie making people wish for stuff and turning it against them?"
Dead Meat "I gotchu"
That description sounds like any movie a genie honestly xD
FINALLY I Needed more Wes Craven kill counts
Would you say you were.. craven it
Bum, bum, tssss 🥁
To help James at 19:40
That poor fellow got impaled with a bow from his violin. He was one of the players from the party's string quartet.
Yesssss-aaaaaaah! The Killcount-taaaaahhhh, featuring Wishmast-aaaaaaah!
Triple AIIITCH-ahhhh *its all about the game, and how you play it*
Been wanting to see this movie on the kill count for so long! So glad it's finally getting covered.
Facts me to
Got so twisty at the end. I'm still wondering if it all counted for real. Plus J made a wish too, sooooo...
16:03 ...because remember: just like james said in the emesis blue kill count, in order for mass event kills to be counted, the disaster must have some sort of visual representation AND a serious in-universe number given to account for all the kills. That was what allowed the DBPM 3 kill count to take the Kill Count Championship with its record of 4295 kills back in 2022... before the emesis blue kill count broke (or more accurately, OBLITERATED) that kill count's record with it's JAWDROPPING 800,054 kills last year.
I feel like he could've weasled in at least 3 more kills in the plane crash, since we know there HAD to have been a pilot, co-pilot, and attendant to fly the plane in the first place 😅 but yeah, rules are rules for a reason lol
Ah yes, the Wash Master. "mmmmmmmmmmmmm"
MMMMMMMMMM YODA I AM
Cleans up all the awards at award shows! : )
"He shows her where he'd keep his statue of Ahura Mazda - IF HE _HAD_ ONE!"
2:23 “In this business uhhh” had me dyin! 😂
Best line in the movie: "THAT HURT LIKE HELL!" Such a fun flick. 😁
Fun fact, wizard dude from the opening is actually supposed to be Zarathustra, religious reformer and founder of the Zoroastrian religion!
As scaredy cats pointed out in their video it’s weird that the movie claims Zoroastrianism is a dead religion as it’s pretty alive and kicking
You know what the messed up part is? The store clerk's eyes rolling back kind of implies she was still conscious so for at least like a day or so she was just frozen trapped as a mannequin unable to do anything not even scream.
What creeps me out about that is we see her eyes rolling back when she finally dies, which implies they were still mobile while she was a mannequin. Or at the very least were still functioning. And not a single person noticed; imagine pleading to everybody with just your eyes and no one even sparing you a glance.
I genuinely thought this was a recount because i didn’t think there was a chance in hell that James hadn’t covered this masterpiece yet.
I love how the Djinn sounds like Triple H exclusively from the Attitude -Ruthless Aggresion Eras lol
Praying for a continuation of the Stepfather series 🙏
The cinema snob reviewed every film in that series just to let you know
This is amazing a Kill Count on Sunday? Fucking love it and appreciate all your guys' hard work!
Just worked with Robert Kurtzman and his INCREDIBLE wife on a movie about a month back. Legendary and classy to the end!!!
I have been dying to see this movie show up on the Kill Count.
The scene where Kane Hodder tells the Djinn to "go away" and Divoff's performance.. his facial expression as he turns and the way he walks away like he's literally being forced to is just top-tier.
And yeah. The "hurt like hell" line that everyone is mentioning. The whole dang movie is amazing.
I got to meet Andrew Divoff Last year. He actually had the gem from the film with him.
Such an all star cast, love this classic
10:50
“I came up with some bullshit”
“It’s great bullshit”
Vince McMahon: No! This is such good shit!
Look women can appraise gems AND Coach, James
This film is literally just "a finger curls on the monkeys paw" and I fucking love it
Fun fact: Takahata101 of TeamFourStar used Wishmaster as his inspiration for Imperfect Cell in Dragon Ball Z Abridged.
That's cool
2 in one week, we’re on a roll! 😂👏🏾
Wishmaster is one of my friend temperature checks. If you don’t like this movie, we don’t have much in common!
It’s this and Killer Klowns of course
I JUST started watching these this year. You have no idea how timely this is for me. Thank you for covering this here and now!
This is actually my favorite horror movie back in my days. I love cameos, and the performance of Andrew Divoff was dope as the Djinn. The sequels (except Wishmaster 2) dropped the ball hard when they had to replace him with another actor.
It's about damn time you did Wishmaster, that's such an underrated gem of a horror movie with 3 horror legends in the mix. Thank you!
This was the first horror movie to really scar me as a child and I've been waiting for you guys to cover this movie.
19:03 i got a crazy headcanon though... what if johnny valentine became the grim reaper / death in the final destination films after the events of this film and that wishmaster is a secret prequel to the final destination films?
Wishmaster & Pumpkinhead are two criminally underrated horror series in my eyes, as both of them came out in the tail-end of their respective decades.
Andrew Divoff is fantastic as The Djinn.😀👍
Yes! I've been hoping for a while that you would take a look at this movie; definitely one of the best horror films of the 1990s. One thing I really appreciate about is it has a female protagonist who legitimately outsmarts the villain to defeat him.
Love this movie. It came out when I was going through my divorce. Fun times were scarce at that time in my life, so a good old-school horror movie really hit the spot. Thanks for covering it and bringing it back to mind. I'm gonna go find this and buy a copy. Or rent a copy. Whichever, I gotta see it. Cheers!
I love how James sounds so excited to cover this movie during the intro
Come On Guys,Let’s Let James Cover The Wishmaster Series!
I remember when and my dad watched this film when I was 9. This movie was so great and constantly remember the wishmasters iconic design and creepy voice. Up there with Hellraiser.
Hear me out, I believe Johnny Valentine should not be counted because his wish was "to escape". In order for the Djinn to use his powers, it must fulfill the wish, meaning that after the Djinn walked off, Johnny must have successfully escaped from the box off camera, otherwise his wish would not be fulfilled by the rules of the Djinn.
I actually really love that take on the scene! And makes me happy to believe Candyman survived lol
Although, one could still argue that "dying" is still "escaping" from his job as a bouncer.
7:26 wasn't expecting a DBZ reference, but I'm all about it.
The VA who plays Cell in Abridged did voice his Imperfect forms voice after the Djinn
@@FrostyTheNightmare" if it's any consolation. THAT HURTS LIKE HELL.
The best horror films are the underrated ones. Wishmaster was a blast!
I loved this movie as a history and mythology nerd because Arabian legends hold that Djinn come in three varieties: good, neutral and evil
The wishes they grant/ the actions they take rely on their individual personalities, so theyre less of a Mcguffin and more of a character helping or hindering our protagonists
TLDR; This movie has a bad Genie and its historically accurate
Did i just go to horror heaven? I cant handle all these horror badasses being together in the same movie
It always bothered me that Tony Todd's character was tricked into "wishing to escape" but was put into a different situation and then... Didn't escape! The thing he actually wished for! Wish unfulfilled!
So happy to see this being covered, it's #10 in my top ten fav horror movies!
My whole family LOVED Wishmaster, and my dad actually likes all the sequels as well (he's also seen ALL the From Dusk till Dawn sequels AND the TV show; he's an incredibly faithful franchise watcher). Andrew Divoff being suave AF in that suit, while grinning evilly at all the monkey pawing going on, lives rent-free in my head. And for the last (OMG) 25 years, Alex wishing that Mickey Torelli hadn't been drinking on the job 2 days ago randomly flashes into my head while I'm doing laundry.
Now realizing that there were so many amazing cameos, I love it even more. Jazzed that y'all at Dead Meat love it too.
Just lost my grandma yesterday at 4:45 am and she loved horror. Shes the reason im a nerd for it now. Much love to James and the team for always keeping me and my grandma laughing and entertained.
My favorite kill counts are the ones were james is the most interested and clearly a fan of makes it show that this isnt a job he just enjoys counting his favorite movie kills
Wishmaster didnt seem underrated in the late 90s and 00s. It was always on sci fi and kids always talked about it in school. Granted i told quite a few about it.
This was one of the first movies I specifically tracked down to watch before it was on the kill count... then the strikes happened and I had to rewatch it last night to jog my memory. Seriously fun film and a really great episode, James' excitement really comes through and is pretty infectious. My one issue with the movie though is that Tony Todd didn't get his wish! He wanted to escape, but the implication is he didn't and drowned. If it had been phrased as "a chance to escape" instead, this would be the perfect movie.
Maybe it’s just me but I always thought Jeepers Creeper was made to look like Wishmaster in some kind of way because when I was a child I always thought the creeper looked similar to Wishmaster lol
10% original casting 90% horror veteran cameos, not that I'm complaining.
Haha, a kill count that ends with zero kills but is still an entertaining episode 😂
"I won't ask you to forget James Monroe Iglehart....cuz you *can't*"
God I love James and his depths of interests beside horror films 💚💚💚
Seems like a great horror film and an awesome villain. I would love to see the sequels kill counted at some point. I supposed this means the Djinn has killed the most horror icons ever.
I know this movie thanks to Team Four Star with the line "but if any consolation, that hurt like hell!". that Imperfect Cell says to Android 16 after his tail grows back.
I watched this movie for the first time on Thursday in a double feature with VHS 94 and gotta say, it’s kind of changed my life a bit. No wonder you guys feature wishmaster so much on the podcast and on the horror royal rumble because my god it’s entertaining. One thing I love so much is that like hatchet it’s kind of a who’s-who of horror legends, but unlike Hatchet it doesn’t feel beholden to the material those legends worked on. It feels like 100% its own thing. Great movie, I’m telling all my friends to watch it.
Wishmaster Is A Fun Wild Masterpiece.
I Hope Hollywood NEVER EVERRR Tries To Remake This Special Underrated Horror Gem.
This Is My Favorite Horror Movie Of ALL Time
The amount of love I have towards this movie is immeasurable even though I've only seen it once
Hey James and every horror fans here. I was wondering if any of you can help me find where the clip I saw YEARS ago is from. As I said it was years ago but I'll try to provide as much information as I can.
The clip goes like this:
In the forest, there's this blonde cheerleader running slow as fck and she's being chased by this walking killer. The killer looks like mick thomson from slipknot with his mask on but the mask of the killer is made of wood, the killer also has a wooden hammer (i think). For some reason there's a school bus deep in the forest. Weirdly enough there's also a metal trash can close to the school bus. The killer took the lid of the trash can and mashed the girl like a mashed car in the junkyard.
Additional information:
The clip resolution was good so I'm assuming this was released after 2000.
That's all I got folks, please help me find this movie. I've watched many horror movies through the years trying to find this movie but still couldn't find it. Thanks a lot people!
1. 19:42 He got impaled by a violin bow. 2. Wishmaster was one of the few movies I went to the cinema to see during my college days alongside Species 2 and Freddy vs Jason.
This is one of my favourite horror movies just because of how fun the payoffs to each wish are (though the casting definitely helps!)
The "be careful what you wish for" kind of story isn't new, nor is the idea of a chaotic/evil Djinn, but this movie rolls with the premise full force and that makes it great. Truly a wonderful film with a terrifying monster, yessssaaaaaahhhhh.
this is the earliest I've ever been to a kill count what
Hell Dead Meat uploaded in Sunday! He uploaded VHS kill count in the friday!
2 KILL COUNTS HELL YEAAAAHH
“He’s getting majorly friendzoned” too real, literally happened to me yesterday 😭
Fun fact, the Djinn’s voice was one of three inspirations for the voice DBZA’s Imperfect Cell.
I have been waiting for this kill count for so long
x2
Two kill counts a week is the best week!! Also, I love when James tackles movies that he really really likes. The enthusiasm is infectious. Go Wishmaster!
This isn’t the genie from Aladdin I remember

Truly and underrated classic in the world of horror.
Best line in Wish Master that I will never forget: "If it's any consolation, that hurt like HELL"
It makes me so happy you finally covered this one, since you always seemed so passionate about it and brought it up so often! Love seeing people talk about their favess
YES! Christmas came early!!! This is my favorite horror movie, Andrew Divoff is amazing as the Djinn!!

Hell yes I've been wishing to see you do the wish master series and been a classic set of movies I've seen growing up
Don’t think a kill count has sold me on a movie more than wishmaster. I gotta watch this now it looks like it rules!
Nice to have a killcount on my birthday. My 34th in fact.
Congratulations🎉
Happy birthday
Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday And also My Birthdays Today Too Im 19 Years old In October 6th 2024.
Here's to another year! Stay cool.
This is my favorite channel man❤
I'm so glad more people are gonna find out about Wishmaster, and hopefully get to Wishmaster 2 for one of the best practical kills in a horror movie ever.
I just noticed something. When the homeless guy makes his wish for the pharmacist to get cancer and die,the Wishmaster says run along now while you still have a soul. But he was told to make a wish for the low low price of your soul. He made his cancer wish, so he shouldn't have a soul left.
Man, I was having a rough day, but it's always a good day when James releases a kill count he loves
Ah Wismaster, the all-time “The English language has a lot of words with double meanings,” a lesson the Devil from Futurama would use too! The Djinn is in!
I saw this in the theater opening weekend, and I still love it. Divoff's performance is what makes it so fun, though.
The Djinn is one of my favorite villains of all time. Glad you finally covered Wishmaster, now I’m just waiting on Pumpkinhead
One of my childhood favorites! It’s so underrated! ❤️Thank you for finally covering it for October!🥰👻🎃🔥
The Kid Buu/Super Buu reference caught me off guard. lol
Now this is absolute cinema I never knew this was a craven film that makes sense coming from the legend himself.behind James of course
27:13 gotta love the windows sound effects
One of the most underrated horror movies I've ever seen
Another fun fact: Some of the cast in Wishmaster also made guest appearances on "Walker Texas Ranger": Tammy Lauren, Andrew Divoff, Robert Englund, Kane Hodder, and Gretchen Palmer.
Never beats the original, thank you guys, this is one of my favorite horror movies. Wishmaster is like the monkey paw, the wish that you want comes with a painful price.
23:57 That's what you get for rejecting the lamp earlier in the video xD
This was one of the first Horror movies I have heard watched and it's still one of my favorites.❤
