The beginning of Marvel's golden age on film with the first character of the comics to have a box-office smash. The 2nd Rated-R movie for a Marvel character after The Punisher (1989). Undoubtedly the first, real kick-a** Vampire movie. Following his first mainstream appearances on Spider-Man:The Animated Series (1994-1998). From the darkside of the Marvel Universe, inspired by blaxploitation films (a la' Shaft & Blacula) and debuting 50 years ago in 'The Tomb of Dracula' comics as one of Drac's many foes. Prior to being casted as Blade, Wesley Snipes as actor/producer was involved with developing Black Panther (at the time, a Sony property). Frustrated with how to make BP, he received the BLADE script and said yes to it. Snipes had never known that Blade or Black Panther were both from Marvel. The director Stephen Norrington (effects background) did a great job with this. Stephen Dorff (The Gate, SFW, Immortals) doesn't get enough credit as one of the best vampire villains on screen. Part 2 (2002) is great and Part 3 (2004) is controversial. At the end of the day, it's great to see more love and appreciation for the Daywalker.
I understand what you mean about the ting ting ting sequence during Blade and Frost's swordfight. The aesthetic in comparison to the rest of the films fighting is as at little bleaker. But at the same time, the back and forth is in actual fact a fighting form used primarily in sparring and training sessions, similar to that in some forms of hand martial arts. The idea of it is two opposing fighters attack and block in the same means and gradually build in speed until one loses their rhythm or cant get any faster and/or screw up the flow. Given how badass Blade is as a fighter, we always knew he was not going to lose the swordsman round.
I always enjoy this era of action movies, the cheesiness of the late 90s was great! This came out a year before The Matrix too, one of the best action films ever.
Nightstalkers was one of my favorite comic book series growing up and I love these movies all of them but I am a huge fan of blade in the animated format he is just as much of a badass in those as he is in any other media that he is in
There was also the second 'The Fugitive' (can't remember the name) with Tommy Lee Jones as a Marshall in which he jumps off the rooftop and lands on a moving train. There are others, of course, but this trilogy and that other one stand out as my favourites.

It was fun times for comic book fans. Wesley Snipes brought Blade to life, much like Robert Downey Jr did for Iron Man.
It’s something you also don’t think about, couch potato vampires. Since they can’t die, If they don’t exercise they’ll just keep getting fatter and fatter forever.
Yes, there were supposed to be lots of children's skeletons surrounding Pearl to contextualize how he became so engorged. That part was cut out for being too dark, without the bones though it kinda makes Karen and Blade seem even a little too bloodthirsty, but they were just rightfully taking Pearl out based on what he was doing.
I think the blood rave is everybody’s favorite opening scene nothing compares to it 🙌🏾 Wesley snipes is blade he’s not playing a part when you watch these he embodied the character very well it’s going to be weird seeing somebody else try and fill those shoes. Few of my favorite things...... 1. Without this movie there would’ve been no marvel they were basically going bankrupt everybody says “what about spider man and x men?” THIS movie is why we were able to get those movies later. 🙌🏾 2. The opening scene is amazing Wesley looks so bad ass. 3. Whistler is just to damn cool for his own good and I love the relationship between him and blade he might be super serious but whistler really is like a father to him there bond runs deep. 4. I lowkey liked he didn’t get a love interest and there aren’t 100 cheesy one liners like the recent marvel movies. 🤷🏾♀️ 5. Frost was actually a pretty solid villain and the reveal that it was him that bit his mother just made killing him even more satisfying. 6. The hospital scene when he says “mothafcker are you out your damn mind?” 😂 when he has those moments I swear it feels like he’s breaking character. 7. Wesley is like a 3rd degree black belt so most of these stunts are ALL him and apparently he liked to cut it kinda close with some hits. I think few of these stunts guys were actually taking a few of those shots and, they need needed him to slow down on some of the moves because the camera was having a hard time picking them up. 😂 Fun little fact: if my dad was to put on the exact costume he is a dead ringer for blade all my friends use to think it was so cool and so did I. Can’t wait for blade 2
28:35 Fun fact about this moment: Frost says "he's got the sword, he throws it in the air, catches it underneath", while twisting his hand around in demonstration. He's doing this to mock Quinn. But that is EXACTLY how Blade kills Frost. Blade throws his sword in the air to dislodge the vials, then catches them with his hand twisted around behind his back before throwing the vials at Frost. I honestly don't recall if I caught that myself on a rewatch or someone pointed it out to me, but it's a hilariously subtle bit of foreshadowing and of how egotistical Frost is. He mocks the very moves that kill him.
Please y'all watch Blade knowing that Blade was made even BEFORE the Buffy + Angel tv series, Underworld franchise and the multitude of vamps involved media in thr last 20 years which has given several changes to Vamps so please watch it with that in mind. Eagerly lookong forward to your reactions to BLADE 2.
I tell all those watching Blade for the first time, be sure to watch Blade: The Series, it goes into detail about the “pure blood “ vs “turned” vampires, and also the “organization” Blade and Whistler are a part of.
Okay. So the current spate of MCU movies are not bad when it comes to action, but the Blade series was something else, with an actual martial artist doing the action.
_Back in the days, movies carried a rawness and intensity that spoke directly to mature audiences, unfiltered by the need to appeal to a broader, often younger demographic._ _The gritty realism, complex characters, and darker themes were commonplace, allowing filmmakers to explore the full spectrum of human experience without constraints. These films didn’t shy away from violence, sexuality, or moral ambiguity, and they often presented a world that was as harsh and unforgiving as reality itself. Today, however, the landscape of cinema has shifted significantly._ _Mainstream movies have increasingly become sanitized, veering towards the overly polished, family-friendly content typified by Disney. The sharp edges have been smoothed out, the moral complexities simplified, and the narratives geared towards mass appeal, often at the expense of artistic integrity._ _This is why directors like Zack Snyder, who push for more mature, R-rated content, find themselves at odds with the industry's prevailing trends. Snyder's work, with its focus on realism, complex characters, and darker tones, often meets resistance in an environment that prefers softer, more palatable fare. Yet, it is precisely this pushback that underscores the value of his approach, highlighting a need for films that challenge audiences rather than merely entertain them._

Starring Eddie Murphy, written by Charlie Murphy (RIP) and directed by Wes Craven 👍
@@LordVolkov Yeah and that’s what make it more sad more people never seen or heard of it.
@@kennyshoulders1284 I do feel watching the Blacula movies first make it funnier, but it's extremely good on its own.
Blades one liners are timeless!! Pure gold!😎
Fun little fact: if my dad was to put on the exact costume he is a dead ringer for blade all my friends use to think it was so cool and so did I. Can’t wait for blade 2
My favorites are Underworld(more than one movie), Blade 1,2,3. Vampire diaries series and The Originals series and Legacies.
You two are starting to become my favourite duo around here.
I'm seen Kristen in a lot of movie reactions, she's such a soft sweetheart and really shows her emotions EG.. ARMAGEDDON.
Wesley Snipes is the great character for Blade
I love it when you two are doing the reactions. 💖☺
33:44 THE OG super hero landing, better recognize bishes!!! 😎👊🏻🦇
Kristen's reactions to the simplest of jump scares are always hilarious 😂
Love this reaction! You guys genuinely appreciated this masterpiece. Subbed.
Fun Fact: Stephen Dorff was in the Limp Bizkit music video "Rollin" at the beginning with Ben Stiller
I love that it's you two for this one 🙂
The little girl Frost holds hostage was Brenda Song (aka London Tipton)
For real? If so I never knew that.
@ they didn't credit her but Brenda herself revealed it during an interview
Please y'all watch Blade knowing that Blade was made even BEFORE the Buffy + Angel tv series, Underworld franchise and the multitude of vamps involved media in thr last 20 years which has given several changes to Vamps so please watch it with that in mind.
Eagerly lookong forward to your reactions to BLADE 2.
I tell all those watching Blade for the first time, be sure to watch Blade: The Series, it goes into detail about the “pure blood “ vs “turned” vampires, and also the “organization” Blade and Whistler are a part of.
Always enjoy Michael's analysis and reaction takes. Excellent pairing!
Okay. So the current spate of MCU movies are not bad when it comes to action, but the Blade series was something else, with an actual martial artist doing the action.
Blade's mother has the starring roles in Love and Basketball and Alien vs Predator.
Sanaa and Wesley also played lovers in the film "Disappearing Acts" (2000).
I actually loved her in Alien vs Predator.
@@marcusmcgill4423 Thanks, I didn't know that.
@@3Rayfire I liked the Unrated Cut. The Theatrical Cut was trash.
@@3Rayfire Every Predator movie is a fun adventure.
The opening scene might be the coolest introduction of a character ever.
Leave it to her with the jumpscares 😂. Great reaction you two. One of my favorite movies, Blade 2 is my absolutely 1st next to this one.
“What happens if everyone is vampire, and there’s no one to feed on?” - check out the movie Daybreakers, some very popular actors, good lore.
Michael is probably my Favourite for sure.. Need more of him ❤
_Back in the days, movies carried a rawness and intensity that spoke directly to mature audiences, unfiltered by the need to appeal to a broader, often younger demographic._
_The gritty realism, complex characters, and darker themes were commonplace, allowing filmmakers to explore the full spectrum of human experience without constraints. These films didn’t shy away from violence, sexuality, or moral ambiguity, and they often presented a world that was as harsh and unforgiving as reality itself. Today, however, the landscape of cinema has shifted significantly._
_Mainstream movies have increasingly become sanitized, veering towards the overly polished, family-friendly content typified by Disney. The sharp edges have been smoothed out, the moral complexities simplified, and the narratives geared towards mass appeal, often at the expense of artistic integrity._
_This is why directors like Zack Snyder, who push for more mature, R-rated content, find themselves at odds with the industry's prevailing trends. Snyder's work, with its focus on realism, complex characters, and darker tones, often meets resistance in an environment that prefers softer, more palatable fare. Yet, it is precisely this pushback that underscores the value of his approach, highlighting a need for films that challenge audiences rather than merely entertain them._
👏
Glad you guys had fun . Can't wait for part 2
5:36 That was a good scream!🤣Yeah if you guys liked this movie, then you'll definitely like Blade 2, and maybe 3. Blade 2 is my favorite but just be prepared. If you thought this one was scary, then wait for the next one.
The jump scare I needed to see in my life
The movie that saved Marvel. All Marvel fans should be grateful for the Blade Trilogy.
People judge a movie by how much the movie is it's own thing,
Not what they want/demand it to be. .
First Marvel movie with the Superhero landing!
