If you sell firewood to the innkeep at the Bannered Mare, you get your bed for free, forever. You can also take most, but not all of the items from the inn without stealing, including the wine bottle that the beggar wants.

Try 2 handed weapons. Now that can be a lot of fun. If you have Danwguard dlc, go to their HQ near Riften. Get their 2 handed war hammer, then head to black briar lodge place and kill the mercenaries. They are early on much easier than you realise. Grab the full plate armor. Now you are set as a Warhammer character. Make sure you always improve them at a blacksmith.
Or try stealth assasin. Going invisible sneaking up to your prey and killing them (even in a crowd) and then going invisible again. Most times even the guards don't know you did the killing.
Or Conjurer and you can literally have a small army do your fighting for you.
Or go full destruction mage with flame/lightening cloak. Get ignite or any flame spell, which can be enhanced with augment flame and aspect of terror perks and destruction potions, which can make you pretty much invincible and can kill a small army around you. So many possibilities in this game

For those wanting to play on Legendary difficulty just be aware that enemies scale harshly with your level, if you hyper level up with non combat skills (sneak, alchemy, blacksmithing etc) and neglect offensive skills like 1/2 handed/destruction and armor skills, you will become very soft and will start getting wrecked and one shot by enemies.

There are a total of 12 chests in bleak falls barrow. Some hidden and some out in the open. In embershard mine there are a total of 3 chests. Also if you have the restoration spell turn undead you can go into the hall of the dead in white run and kill all but one of the skeletons in there and use the spell on it to level up restoration. There is also a draugr in the midden that you could level up restoration on. If you join the companions and become harbinger with a few quests you can then do the same follower and training trick with them that you did with Faendal. They have different skill training options and I believe they go up to level 75. The dawnguard chick Sorine also levels up archery to level 90. Then you can find Angi's camp and she can help level your archery skill as well. The Orc camps are a great place to get money with brawling with the Orc chief. Some of the chiefs can help you level up skills too. The khajiits caravans also offer skill training. Riften is a great place to level up speech as well. The riften prison guard, Maul, the gate guards, saphire. Oh and to save you a fist fight with Micheal in the bannered mare you can simply give a gold to a beggar and pass the persuade test with ease which also levels speech. There is also a speech book in the merchant shop, an alchemy book in arcadia's shop. I have more tips if anyone starting out for their first playthrough has questions. There are also tons and tons of ingredients hidden in helgen when you escape. Check the skeevers that have been covered in webs that are hanging up from the ceiling and you will get skeever tails. There is also a desiccated body that is hanging there as well that has loot. And you missed one skeleton when looting them. Right before you go through the tunnel there was a skeleton on the left on the floor that you can loot. In bleakfalls barrow there are also tons of skeever tails you can get and some glowing mushrooms.

    • @chilboswaggins5500

But you should max enchanting in every playthrough. Therefore never leave one single weapon behind regardless of ratios or what other items are left behind.
Sneak + carry weight doesn't add as much value as banish + paralyze, especially with smaller gems. The only weapon enchants worthy of your time are absorb health (available LV 1), chaos damage, banish and paralyze (all 3 available LV 22). Ignore fear & turn undead.

Save your skill books for your final ten levels of your skill line. I think the limit is six books per skill. So six skill level ups. But with one of the Black Books in Solsteim you can get that changed to two skill level ups per book. It takes nothing to level up in the early game. Don’t waste it in skill books.

Everyone has a different approach, and different playstyles, but if you are playing AE with all the content, I recommend ALL characters prioritize a few things early. 1) get dragonrend ASAP so you can actually fight dragons when they show up or at least die to them faster as opposed to a long drawn out fight 2) get started on the farming DLC ASAP to make gold, and grow the proper ingredients for alchemists and to make good potions you want/need. Remember alchemy is the easiest way to get effects that have percents wayyy over 100% and increase your damage massively or help keep you alive. 3) one of the first things you should do is utilize the carriages to travel to each hold and get some fast travel start points so you can more easily approach quests from the beginning. 4) if you happen to be a warrior get the ebony blade ASAP because it cant be upgraded without the mod that patches it and its more than good enough to help you until you’re ready for better weapons.

  • @ashiagefa646
    @ashiagefa646 10 місяців тому +1

It comes to how long you want to play a single character, leveling up sneak is the worst in a long playthrough, the enemies will be very strong and you will still be having low damage, leveling up combat skills is acutally second best, because later you need a way to go beyond default damage, best is to start out maxxing enchantment, then feel free to go with any style you wish

    • @mike-thegamingdad
      @mike-thegamingdad  10 місяців тому

A combination of levelling archery and getting the perk which gives you 3x sneak archery damage means kills can be 1 shots. Likewise the one handed or dagger perks (6x and 15x damage respectively) are equally as deadly, the latter especially, that's pretty much always going to be a one hit kill at 15x damage, but you are reliant on staying in sneak mode to kill, so the style of play can be only be that thief/assassin style play. It's no use for a two handed warrior, or a mage. I wouldn't say its a weak playstyle in the long run, it's actually very strong, it's just specific. But yes if you.level enchanting, alchemy etc, you can make any gear you want that'll be very strong and then do anything

Make sure to also catch the salmon jumping up the waterfalls in the river flowing from Riverwood to Whiterun. This will give you precious salmon roe which is arguably one of the best alchemy ingredients. Combine it with garlic and nordic barnacle to make a potion of water breathing that has a crazy resell value AND alchemy experience. Just catch em when they're jumping out of the water to go spawn upstream. Like a bear does.
Also if we're talking anniversary edition then I've also added a new leg to my first missions in and around the starting area. I go and immediately get the Staff of Hasedoki. It's one of the best items in the whole game and you can get it at its full power at level 1 right out of Helgen. I recommend doing it before levelling too much as the enemies you encounter will be kind of a pain. Then at my leisure I go to get the Staff of Worms and Bloodworm Helm in Gallows Hall. These are also immediately available and will be of infinite value. Sometimes it pays to do Gallows Hall before getting the Staff of Hasedoki as the thrall power from Staff of Worms will make it much easier.

Crouch behind rolof and hit him for stealth attack damage leveling sneak and one handed. Wait in between strikes as sometimes it will stop counting for stealth if you repeat too quick. Stealth levels super fast btw for perk points, unleash your full mana bar into him with your spell to level your magic

When I start a new game I usually like do as follows:
Stay on level 1, make it to whiterun collecting gold, butterfly wings, and snowberries, unlock the whiterun stables and head to either solitude, dawn star, markarth, or even all 3, and loot the khajiit chests and if you can, grab any gear that lessens illusion cell cost and raises magika, now head back to whiterun, and run west, to the sleeping tree camp, collect the tree sap from the tap attached to the tree and then head into the cave, you need to be quick when you do this but I usually rush straight to the chest and loot the sap in there and then quickly collect the note on the orc which will start the quest to turn in the sap for money as well as whatever sap he has on him.
Now I head to whiterun, hire the dark elven woman from the drunken huntsmen and then go back outside, now I start the duplication glitch, storing any extra items in one of the barrels outside of war maidens, as well as leveraging off of the ability to store extra sap in the barrels until I have about 1000 in my inventory, then I wait till daytime to find ysolda, tell her you found the orcs note and she offers you the option to turn in tree sap , this will instantly give us 150,000 gold as they sell for 150 for her as she pays an extra 50 gold as a personal deal.
Now this is where we go to dragonsreach and speak to farengar, who should be able to sell us the muffle illusion spell, then we go to tel mythrin, and pay neloth for enchanting training, using all those septims we earned , it’ll get to a point where the 5 levels no longer levels your character up, when this happens, just spam the muffle spell and wait and spam and wait and so on, to increase your level illusion skill points until you can level up again and unlock 5 more level ups, this will get you to level 90 in no time, no I usually go back to whiterun and duplicate grand soul gems and whatever item I have 2 of, until I have about 60 of each, and simply go to dragonsreach and enchant the items as well as learning enchantments, this ends up taking under 5 minutes, and
the sweet thing is, even if you don’t have the enchantments you’d like to put on your own gear, you’ll still have roughly 70,000 gold to go around every general goods and clothing store in Skyrim, where you’re bound to find the sweet enchantments you need.
Now I go to riften, and go into the river surround in the city and catch Abecean longfins and Cyrodiilian spadetails until I’ve got roughly 25 of them each. Now I return to whiterun and go to arcadias couldron, where I’m going to pay her for training till I’m at level 30, now I go into my menu and use my skill points on enchanting to unlock the first 5 perks, and the skill enchantment buff perk, as well as the alchemist as much as I can, and level up my tree till I select benefactor.
Now I enchant a helm, a ring, and braces with the alchemy enchantment for 25% stronger potions, and create a resto potion and enchanting potion as well, I usually do this so when I’m doing the resto glitch, I can check in on my enchanting potion estimate to ensure it doesn’t make it passed 4000% as that’s usually too broken and the game becomes less fun, I like my health capped at about 3500, then I make some way overpowered enchanting potions once I’ve got my game friendly ones so I can have gigantic amounts of magika and stamina.
Now I use one of the giant enchanting potions to enchant a piece of clothing with the smithing enchantment, with this, my smithing will fly to level 100 if I so much as enchant an iron dagger, and then I sell that same iron dagger to Adrianne or Eorland in whiterun, which will level my speech up to 100 instantly as well.
I usually accomplish this within 2 hours of gameplay, with the longest part of this being the duplication of the sleeping tree sap
    At this point I have:
    100 Alchemy
    100 enchanting
    100 smithing
    100 speech
And then I usually go on to perform the alteration and destruction exploits, spam rally in blue palace for illusion levelling, and violate a mud crab with soul trap for conjuration, which can be done in the space of 45 minutes depending on how quick you travel to the destinations required
That’s 8 skills to level 100 in the space of 3-3.5 hours
After this I usually activate the warrior stone and then start my playthrough, and my combat skills seem to level up in no time at all as I play the game.
This makes playing the vanilla game so fun, and even on legendary difficulty, you experience the thrill of an amazing character, without being too broken to die, as well as earning trophies for your accomplishments, there’s really no better feeling than

Thank you! The efficiency I think is a product of playing Skyrim far too much! Pretty much a decade now, across the original game, remastered and anniversary editions. Also started on PS3 initially, then PS4 and now PC haha. Probably need a new game but I love it too much still 😂. That's cool you've also started, there seems to quite a few new channels popping up I've seen also playing Skyrim. Its great it has so much popularity still. When I look at hours played on the games in my game library, Skyrim is the second most played when you count the various versions plus the disk version I had first. And that's with over 30 years of gaming. I look at new games and even buy one from time to time. But few can keep my interest like TES games. Few have that immersion that I am looking for when I sit down to play a game. So who cares that you/we/us keep playing Skyrim. My problem is continuing past level 16 or so. Hopefully by committing to post game play videos of it, I will be inspired to keep going. In an upcoming video, I come across a new quest I've never seen before in almost 11 years of playing. I suspect that will continue happening. Thanks for the sub and watch! I see that you have hit over 100 subscribers. Congrats! That's my first goal. Then on to 1000!

There is a perk (I think it might be called Experimenter) where you can eat ingredients and get more effects although it's quite far along the skill tree by which point you'll normally have done a load of alchemy anyway.

There is also at least one book, possibly more than one, I think it is called something like "An Herbalist's Guide to Skyrim" maybe, something like that. And that book will tell you some properties of some ingredients.
Occasionally you will come across alchemical Recipes, whether in loot, or available for sale from some merchants. But they are fairly uncommon.
If you're serious about figuring out the alchemy ingredients' uses on your own, I suggest firing up Excel and planning out a basic little spreadsheet to make some simple notes in as you test ingredients in your gameplay. If you start out primarily by testing the most commonly available - from harvesting or for purchase affordably - ingredients, then you'll come across a number of useful recipes soon enough.
From there, your notes and some simple logic will guide you. As you test things, note what works, what doesn't, what it produces, etc.

If the game has lost its challenge, which can happen in Skyrim as its easy to abuse the levelling mechanics, then you can always raise the difficulty. I wouldn't say you need to change build style, unless you are bored of playing that way. Although there's nothing stopping you going down the jack of all trades route. My very first playthrough was like that and to this day its still probably the one I've put the most hours into.
What have you done so far and what else is there to do?
You could try role play your save a little, that's usually fun to be quite rigid in your does and don'ts
If you find you stick around the same area, up and move. Buy a house elsewhere and pretend you've moved. Get a huge bounty and then up and leave for Solstheim and bunker up there and do all those quests or something lol.
You could seek out quests which would benefit a new playstyle and do those. So for example you could try playing as an alchemist and do quests which benefit alchemy like A Return to Your Roots. Or play as a paladin and pick up the quest which takes place at the lighthouse. You get a bonus to healing spells through that and then you could play that way for a while.
Do you generally do the same stuff e.g. always the companions and mages college but you've not really done all daedric quests before etc? If so then do those.
I'm a bit of a completist so things like trophies spur me on. Are there any trophies you don't have, e.g. the werewolf/Vampire ones? Could you get those and bring lycanthropy into your build

Never, ever grab skill books early on. To do so is a terrible idea and a poor tip. Far better to get skill books after you’ve collected a certain Black Book. Enemies and combat early on are too easy to cheese the game. If you level too fast your enemies will out level you and put you at a significant disadvantage. Instead of slashing at Ralof, turn difficulty to Legendary and attack enemies. You’ll be level 24 ish in one or two handed regardless of race. Do the same thing at Embershard to level sneak and archery. But doing so will have enemies outpace your level. A free elven bow is available at Solsthiem and a handful of eleven arrows, and heavy armor full set. No combat or thievery required.

Hitting Ralof just to increase skill is a boring and stupid way of playing, and one not intended by the designers. Ralof is made unkillable because he is needed to help you through the introductory quest, designed for raw beginners. The game is designed to let you gradually skill up. If they wanted you to begin at 100, they would have given it to you. Do you play the game to enjoy it as a game, or as a boring task of "beating" it by doing ridiculous things that break any sense of immersion or role-playing?

    • @sladeaf6279
      @sladeaf6279 3 місяці тому

I have over 16 full playthroughs of this game and every time I have raw dogged the beginning, constantly being overpowered by bandits and such. It takes time to get to a good point in the game where you won’t be dead in one to three hits. I’m sick and tired of it, and while I personally didn’t take any of the skills to 100 I brought them just enough where I can defend my self comfortably. If it’s your first time playing Skyrim I don’t recommend this at all. Suffer like we all had to, and if it was such an exploit Im sure Bethesda would’ve removed all by now. It’s been more than a decade and we’re three dlcs in and 2 special editions.

@@sladeaf6279 There is a much better solution to the problem of the game being too hard in the beginning: lower the difficulty level. Then you can roleplay it naturally, and not spend time doing stupid things like hitting Ralof just to level up. There is no virtue in playing at a higher difficulty level if it means you have to do strange things in order to not die. It is most fun for me to use settings that let you roleplay and play the game as a story, and not as grinding anything, or doing strange things or using wierd exploits. Maybe once you have enjoyed all the stories, and you want to use exploits just to see all the flaws in the game, that is fine. I hope I never get that "advanced".

I don't know if its visible anywhere else but my character's name is Bolg and I'm an Orc on the bear bit, but the rest of this video I was a breton or a nord I think. If you look at the fist fight in the pub I've got human hands, definitely not an orc 🤣. Like I say excellent spot though!

I love the video, but I'm extremely confused how you got to level 8 so quickly, I went through every step before you got to level 8 in the video, and I was only at level 2? Also, when I went to the bandit places in the first part of the video it glitched my game so now I can't finish the quest where I talk to Gerdur in Riverwood. I can talk to her, but the quest still says I need to do it even though I've tried 4-5 times. Which is extremely confusing.

Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed it! Are you referring to the bit where I show which perks in the sneak skill to take? When pulling this together on my initial playthrough I'd forgotten to show the stealth trick before the bear (where you sneak up behind Ralof near the cart and attack him) and I didn't have an auto save to go back to, so I used a different save to show the sneak clip with the bear in the place that it should have been. If you look at my character's name in the level 8 clip its Bolg and I'm an Orc, but the rest of this video I was a breton or a nord I think. If you look at the fist fight in the pub I've got human hands, definitely not an orc 🤣. Having said that though, if you do some levelling of one handed on Ralof right at the start after killing the two soldiers (getting one handed to level 40 should only take about 15 mins) and then taken sneak to level 50 using the sneak trick before the bear, you will easily hit level 8+. That's such a shame about the glitch! I've ever encountered that before, I've had quest logs not complete though even though done its really annoying. At least its early enough that you could start the save again? Sorry I can't help that bit 😔
