I have over 5000 hours in Skyrim according to Steam, and that's not including all the hours I spent playing it on console before getting my PC. Not once have I completed this quest. lmao
Hate any Dwemer ruins quests, they just drag forever. Blackreach and collecting the damn crimson ninroot, and hate soul carin and the lost pages collecting, I get lost everytime.
Yeah some of them are very long aren't they, the one for the aetherial crown I remember taking ages, due to needing 4 pieces, but the reward for that makes it worthwhile. Blackreach really splits opinion, as a location its ranked very highly but I agree, finding those nirnroot is a pain!
@@mike-thegamingdad yeah Blackreach is beautiful but I literally cannot see those crimson ninroots, I run around like mad chicken and never manage to collect 30, think I had 27 at one point and just gave up after few hours. Same happens to me in soul carin, I just can’t find anything of importance in these locations. Like I’m blind or something 😂
In my experience, blood on ice is the worst, its so filled with bugs that through all the hours of playing i only managed to complete it once and i say its the worst simply cause the house interior is one of the best of all the holds and it makes it so frustrating when you encounter one of the 100 bugs that make this quest unfinishable. Ussep is the solution here but even with this mod i still managed to messed it up once and i couldn't talk to nobody involved with the quest, good old skyrim
Is that the murder mystery one inside Windhelm? I really enjoyed that but don't recall getting a bug so maybe that's why, I'll give that one another try though and see!
I actually love this quest. Somehow I managed only to trigger bugs once. I make a hard save before initiating any quest I'm not familiar with. It was only after I played it that I learned it was meant to be a two part quest depending on how you played it. I like to play it in one and accidentally learned to trigger it on my first visit to Windhelm during my Survival playthrough. It's worked the four times I replicated it.
It's my favourite quest. Gems are lightweight and with the Merchant Perk can be sold to every merchant. Also quite some quests require gems which are otherwise difficult to collect. I often go for completing this quest in the early parts of my playthroughs, together with bringing the Thieves Guild back to their former glory: more merchants.
Interesting, amazing how everyone's experience and opinions on it are different! Yeah the point around the specific gems for quests is good. There's one where you need a flawless sapphire I think which I always forget about until I need it and then wish I had one. Thanks for taking the time to watch a few of my videos 😆
@@mike-thegamingdad You're welcome. :) Yes, quite a few of these fetch quests are in Riften. It's also why I use Goldenhills Plantation to stockpile ingredients.

This is one of the best guides to the quest . After playing so many hours I kinda know all the places but I never finished it cause I couldn't stand the thiefs quests at all .
I like this quest, no matter if I complete the thieves guild quest line or not. I don't have the mod that shows where they are. I actually located them all with loads of hours clocked in the game and through coincidences. The first time I triggered Blood on the Ice, I needed the key from Tova. At that point I had completed the Dark Brotherhood quest line. I went to see her to find her dead on the floor by suicide and spotted the gem. So far, my least favorite quest is Forbidden Legends. Not only do you have to fight the 3 brothers twice, the bowman that splits himself in 3 or 6 is very annoying and always shouting at you from different directions with the same amount of power. And it can get buggy if you're not being watchful for the queues to progress. I've mastered this quest as an archer and mage, but not as a warrior.
I agree re. Forbidden Legends, its low down on my list. I encountered a bug with this quest the first time and couldn't complete one part of it, just locked me out
Over 9,001+hrs of Skyrim only completed No Stone Unturned once 😅 Now in terms of worst quests... [Screeching Meridia Voice]: A NEW HAND TOUCHES THE BEACON...
It's interesting reading everyone's comments with regards to this quest. I wanted to cover it in case anyone needed a guide to where to obtain them all, but I was also interested in the debate. Some love it, some hate it, some have others they hate more. I'm not a fan of The Break of Dawn (think that's the name of the Meridia quest) but at least the quest reward is actually decent (used that sword in a lot of paladin type builds/Vampire hunters)
Thank you for the wonderful guide! I just finished it - took me so much longer than I thought and when Vex said oh yeah, by the way you need to get the crown - I was so done haha. Your guides inspired me to build a new character and get into some of the content I never got to before- Can't wait to get started on the new shouts guide!!
You're welcome glad you found it useful 😁. Yeah it's a bit of a beast isn't it, getting all the shouts is as well that took me a lot longer than anticipated 😅
My most hated quest is actually Boethia’s quest. Not only do you have to kill a companion, but the quest has bugged on me multiple times in multiple ways, from hard to fix screen filters, to the quest completely soft locking that save file.
Ah yeah I can sympathise with the bugs, I had a bug on this quest way back in the original version on PS3 where I couldn't remove the quest in my log, I had done it, but it never registered the kill. No completion. No option to kill a 2nd companion. No oblivion walker on that save 😵
I know the feeling. I usually get the visuals messed up after the possession. It doesn't go away some times. As for the quest itself, I just sacrificed Ralis from Solstheim. No great loss there.
Probably goes without saying but you can't actually steal these gems, they aren't stolen items so you don't need to do the basket trick. Also most of these are on the way when you do main and important quests. They are hard to miss, so the devs expected you to find them all. Even some of these caves are where you would be sent to during larger quests.
@@theimperialnord38 I tried to get to it today. I haven't had much time today. My fiance demanded my attention pretty much all day. I shall get it done tomorrow though. I'm gonna set a reminder on my phone right now.
Thought so too, and then i got a bounty in Windhelm, when i tried to take the one located on the table in Wuunferth's room. It is worth it though for end game loot, but you can't even complete it for a long time into the games main story. It is meant for end game and by them you might never even need gems or money.
@Stinkyremy yeah and the end result has been made redundant by Goldenhills farm for AE players as the gold you can get from that is far greater (and easier) 😅
