Great review by the way, and every challenger pro, in every class, will dominate every gun in its class. These guns are hands down the best bang for your buck.
AND LOOKS AMAZING
I got the std pro 35 a year ago. I saw Rob Vogel [mr hp] take one out of the box and got 196 fpe with @ 120 grn slug, a few months later he got another one to test some of his new slugs but only got 160 fpe.
I saw mine had the reg at 195 bar when I got it and was only getting 160 fpe. I put about 10 grams of weight on the hammer and machine bushings to add @ 3.5 mm to preload the hammer spring and raised the FPE to about 210. Then lowered the reg to @ 175 BAR and got 193 FPE. Final shot count was 15 to 16 depending on weight of ammo. 90 grain HP slugs can hit soda cans at 100 yards.NSA 125 grn go 840 FPS. sighted in at 70 yrds makes 100 yrd shots 4 inch ctc. POLISH YOUR BARRELS !
GRIFFIN 105 CUP BASE GOING 915 FPS !
Good stuff. I'm going to do a full review on Challenger Elite 357 cal in a couple of weeks. Those are getting over 250 FPE.
Does Bin at the pellet shop have the elite in 357? I'd love to have externally adjustable on the pro!! changing the setting is wonky!! Took me 2 days of experimenting. too low at 145 bar and too high at 210. I'm afraid to touch it now that I got it set to 175. That is the only gripe is drain and refill @@backyardairguns
@@brianreiss6036 Yes. I got mine about two weeks ago from Pellet Shop. It is a beast. I plan to put a review video out on the Elite in 35 Cal soon.

What up Nate :-)
I usually cover that space with my UA-cam banner, but i thought I would show off my FX target (and pay phone) instead!
I wanted this one over the regular pro, glad u put a vid on it👍🏽
The Pellet Shop just dropped the price of this rifle down to $805. Great price - Great rifle!
Great review

Thank you Tony!
Impressive groups for a new gun that you never fired before.
AEA is upping their game. This rifle is a nice piece and the accuracy is impressive. Love the side cocking lever and being a repeater.
But since the 35 is a bigbore, I would like to offer something in "single-shot" 30 caliber for comparison. The rifle is the AirForce Texan in .308 and if power is what you want, it will better the 35Pro and can exceed 275 fpe. The accuracy sweet spot (for me) is in the 120 grain range. If you use an unregulated 30 min SCBA tank filled to 3000 psi and connect to the rifle, you will get about 60 shots making ~240 fpe and at 50 yards, will closely match the accuracy potential of the 35Pro.
I'm not going to tell you the Texan is a better rifle. It is so different in its design and intended purpose that you can't really compare it to the 35 Pro unless you just want to consider Accuracy & Power and not the other strengths that the Pro offers that the Texan can't and never will match due to it's design. However, it is probably the most powerful 30 cal rifle you can buy stock out of the box.
Again, if you're considering the 35 Pro, the .308 Texan probably isn't of interest to you but I thought I would suggest it if you are leaning toward being able to put high FPE on your medium size game using a 30-35 caliber platform.
Here is my 65 shot unregulated tethering test at 50 yards... It rivals the 35Pro from what I saw. and I'm using my own cast ammo.
ua-cam.com/video/STd1pmnyw-k/v-deo.html
Good groups at 50 yards. I agree the AirForce Texan and AEA Challenger Pro are very different rifles. I bought an AirForce Talon P in 25 Cal a few months ago and was blown away by the unregulated power in this gun. I see now why the AirForce rifles are known for power. I plan to do a video soon on the Talon P soon.
@@backyardairguns - I’ll be looking to the talon video. I’m wanting to add another rifle that is capable of pushing 15 grn or heavier .177 slugs at over 950 fps. The talon can probably do that and offers a interchangeable caliber/barrel if I’m not mistaken. I’m just not sure about the accuracy.
Keep in mind he is not at full power, and this gun will blow the Texan out of the water in every caliber
If you don't have the regulater set at 3k and your speed dile set at 12 p.m., you are not showing the true power
@@Bigbopperairguns - it needs to considering my .308 can make 275-280 fpe. I can pretty closely match the accuracy demonstrated by the .357 also.
Just found your channel.I love the way you do a review
Welcome to the channel, John.
I shot through a 2x6 with a 22 challenger pro and i shot throughout a 4x4 with my tuned 457 challenger
Just saw another video that showed AEA has updated this gun to have an adjustable hammer spring tension
I agree. I have seen unpublished photos of a fan of mine who has one of these new, updated rifles. Looks to have externally adjustable hammer And externally adjustable regulator. I'm trying to get one of these upgraded Challenger Pros and make some videos on it. These seem to be really nice upgrades.
a awesome rifle not broke in. had the barrel been wiped prior ??
that sound level WITH a suppressor or bald ??? u r well spoken so u know ur suff BEYOND just numbers !!! well done sir !!
Thanks Tracy 😊
I own a Challenger Pro, and I saw a problem you were also having, which I have noticed on mine. Whenever the gun is cocked the magazine pops out just enough to not allow the projectile to chamber unless it's given a slight push back in alignment with the barrel! This has always been an issue from day one! The next biggest issue is the plastic very cheaply made magazines! In cold Temps, they have been known to shatter!
This gun would be a lot better imo, if those things were addressed by AEA, not to mention a carbon fiber bottle!
I love my Pro, but it really could be a lot better! IMO!
All good points. The issue with the magazine sliding out of alignment needs to addressed by AEA. I just recently bought an AEA Challenger Elite 357 and the magazine have the same problem.
I have aea challenger 30 cal 32 inch barrel. Great gun but the magazine does the samething
On the mag issue you all are having, does your mag have a tight fit, or is it loose when you load the mags? You may need to adjust the barrel to have the mag seat more snug. You need to loosen the barrel lock nut so you can screw the barrel a bit more into the breech.
Great point to adjust the barrel. I never thought of that. I will try. Thanks
@backyardairguns just trying to help. I saw your penetration vid. Have you shot the Rifle Brand slugs for accuracy yet? We bring those in and I wanted to know how the do in the Challenger Pro LB.
Just subscribed. Nate sent me over here. Good review. I'll check out your other ones now..
Thanks Rob. Nate is da Man when it comes to air gun reviews. The AEA rifles are a beast. Lots more rifles to review.
Very Impressive !!
Thanks a lot!
Hello fellow Airgunner. Once again I love your videos. Have you seen the 2024 Summer Edition of the .357 Challenger Pro with the externally adjustable regulator?
I have a fan that sent me some pics of one of those that he got early. It has some really cool upgrades like externally adjustable reg, threaded fill probe, larger 500cc air tank and larger plenum, and externally adjustable hammer spring. I can't wait to get one. :-)
@@backyardairguns all it needs now is the larger magazine slot for longer ammo like the Challenger .357 Big bore. Be great if used the same magazine (metal not pkastic).

Thanks Badger - This new AEA is a beast. I have a penetration test coming out later this week on that rifle. You will be surprised by the results. :-)

@@backyardairguns You're welcome. I learned of your channel from Nate.
Great Review.. Question - where can you get the Arca Rail adapter you had on the gun when shooting off the bench?
The Arca rail is a custom piece I make for all my AEA rifles. They are made from aluminum and fit the rifles very good. They are $150 plus shipping. I will have them for sale on a website soon. If interested to get one sooner, email me at backyardairgun@gmail.com
I own and love my 30cal challenger pro. It’s an absolute beast. I smoke soda bottles all day at 200 and 250 yards. NSA 54.5grain slugs @997fps. My question is, is there an option to buy just the longer barrel?
I have never seen an option to purchase a long barrel for the Challenger PRO. You can add a longer 500cc air tank; but not a longer barrel.
Where did you purchase that rail from??

What can you tell about the the barrel band? Is it an aftermarket item? If so, who supplies it? Did you test the rifle with and without it?
It is a BlackArts barrel band. I got from The Pellet Shop at the link below. I use barrel bands on all my PCP rifles. I think they make the rifle more accurate.
www.thepelletshop.com/collections/accessories-1/products/challenger-pro-barrel-band
On the bintac sight they have the largrr tank option.
Thanks Maser! I was able to get the 600cc air tank from BinTac website and it fits perfectly on the AEA Challenger PRO Long Barrel.
I know AEA uses barrel bands but I hear they are not great for accuracy. Thoughts?
I never had any issue with them.
In reguards to the 2024 Pyramyd Cup competition, would you choose your FX M3 .30, this AEA Challenger .35 Long Barrel or your AEA Challenger 30 ....at this point in time? Also, how does your Challenger .30 and your FX M3 .30 compare in sound to each other? (I realize this .35 long bore is much louder! ) Thanks much! Your putting out some GREAT content!
Great question and one that I knew was going to be asked. :-)
My FX Impact M3 in 30 Cal is still more accurate at 100 yards than my AEA Challenger PRO in any caliber. I spent all summer at the range tuning the FX M3 to shoot at 100 yards. It can hit pencil erasers at 100 yards in no wind. I have to do more practicing shooting in wind to get ready for the Pyramyd Cup in 2024. The AEA rifles are a lot more powerful and hit a lot more harder than the FX rifles. The difference in accuracy (in my opinion) is the FX has a more refined rifled barrel suited to shot pellets at long range. I shoot a 1 in 14 slow twist barrel in my FX 30 Cal that is made for pellet accuracy. This is something the AEA rifles have not reached... Yet. :-)
The FX 30 cal is more quite that the AEA 30 Cal. The 357 in any rifle are crazy loud.
Mike, please, Challenger Pro 30 with regulator and hammer spring set to 70 FPE would be as loud as a stock 70 FPE 30 caliber, like your FX Impact M3, I suppose - or I am missing something?
You reported Challenger Pro LB 30 @96,3 decibels, close Pro LB 35 @97 decibels: loudness is about the same or there is till a difference making 35 louder (I.e. cause different sound pitch or whatever reason)?
The AEA Challenger Pro rifles have more power than the same same caliber FX rifles and they are more louder than the FX rifles. Even with the same FPE. Not sure why, but the AEA rifles are louder than the FX rifles. The AEA Challenger Pro in 35 cal is much louder than the same in 30 cal. 357 rifles are generally not backyard friendly.
Hi Mike, thanks, after your advices I am going to buy Challenger Pro 30 generation 1: how many full power shots before to get off regulator, please? 30/40 or 18/20? I see different reports.
My understanding is that full power Pro 30 24" is not way louder than 25, and after lowering the power wheel to 10.00 or so about as loud as 25, correct?
Thanks again.
Should have a air tank on buttstock to maximize air
The Challenger Pro rifles will not accept rear tanks.
Nice air rifle👍
900 - 1000 fps consecutive ain’t much you can say bad at that point but smile 🫡
Thanks Bobby!
That is awesome I know you can get bigger Tanks up 660cc
My question is What is the twist rate On the barrel
I was able to order a 600cc tank from BinTac! I will find out the twist rate from Bin at The Pellet Shop.
Great review Joe who makes the arca rail extender you were using at the range and it looked like you had to push the mag back in place after you cocked the gun is that a problem?
Thanks for the positive comments. I'm not sure who Joe is that you are referring to? I make and sell the custom Arca rails you see on all my AEA videos. They look and work great. I do have a problem with the mags not staying in place in some AEA rifles. Someone commented that I could reset the barrel a little deeper in the breach to fix the problem. I need to look into this more.
Mike, please, what slugs you used to shoot the cedar 4x4 with Pro 25 (1/2" short of 4" as you said)?
Benjamin Ballistic Tip 145g Slugs in 357 Cal, Rifle 60g slugs in 25 Cal
Nice video. Have you noticed the Western Rattler Semi Auto cal. .35? Could it be compared to the Challenger Pro? At least in the price there is a big difference.
I don't think the Western Rattler is in the same group/class as the AEA Challenger Long Barrel. The Western Rattler is close to $3K in price; the AEA is $895. I don't own a Western Rattler so I can't compare the two.
Very good review, well done, you just got new subscriber. What's your opinion for accuracy on 30 cal? Would it do better than 35 cal?
Thanks Mykhaylo!
That is a great question and I'm not sure of the answer... yet. I shot in the Pyramyd Cup competition in August with my FX M3 30 Cal and did well for a rookie. I've never seen a 35 Cal used in bench rest competition; usually, mostly 30 Cal. I'm going to spend some more time at the range with the new AEA 35 Cal and see if it will keep up with an FX and if 35 Cal can compete.
@@backyardairguns after nine months what's your opinion now, please? Challenger Pro 35 can compete? Is 30 caliber more accurate?
How many shots per fill is this getting? Do you think the 600 cc AEA air tube would fit on it with the longer barrel?
Hi Luke. I think I'm getting 4 to 5 mags on the Long Barrel. The 600cc tank will fit perfectly on the AEA Long Barrels, but the the standard AEA Challenger Pros. For the standard Challenger Pros, upgrade to the 500cc tank. Go to BinTacLLC.com to get the tanks. Make sure you use the discount code "backyardairguns" on the BinTacLLC website and get 10% off.
Great video.
Thanks David!
Great video!! Thank you! How did you mount the arca rail on this rifle?
Its a part I custom make for all my AEA Challenger Pros. I modify a 400 mm aluminum alloy rail to fit the rifle and and epoxy the Saber Tactical bottle clamp to the rail. It fits perfect. I have about $100 in parts and $100 in labor to make this. Email me at backyardairgun@gmail.com if interested.
Awesome review and presentation , what type of suppressor are you using ,and the bottle barrel clamp were was that purchased and the bottom rail🎯
The suppressor is DonnyFL and the tank barrel clamp is Saber Tacital; I get both from The Pellet Shop. The bottom rail is a custom arca rail I make for all the AEA Challenger Pro rifles. It is all aluminum and almost 400cm long. The price is $150 plus shipping. They will be for sale on the new website soon. Email me if your interested in one sooner.
@@backyardairguns Thank you so much , I'm in Texas I think the 357 would make a great deer gun ,, 🎯Merry Christmas 🎯

Mike, please, I need to figure out this before to choose my Pro: if I set 35 regulator to 90 FPE (81 gr @700 fps), same power as 25 means same loudness? Spitted air would be the same, or am I wrong?
Also I can set regulator in Pro 35 to shoot Fx Hybrid 68 gr @870 fps = 114 FPE: as poweful and as loud as Pro 30?
Supposed same suppressor, they should be loud about the same?
Thanks.
I must be totally honest …. You have ruined me now , all I think about is big bore Airguns . As you know we can’t have a fork and spoon over here in the UK without a license …. I really fancy one of these or of course the Bintac MCAR …. I really want one 😢
We love our UK fans! :-)
Where did you get the cheek riser, I've got challenger pro 22cal that needs 1.
The new Long Barrel AEA Challenger Pro comes with a cheek riser built in.
Nice gun - seems to need a better noise dampener.
Big bores are really difficult to quite from what I have seen. I have the 30 Cal and 35 Cal and the 35 Cal is louder than the 30.
The bottom extended picatinny rail you are running does it have less flex than the stock one? Contact information to aquire one off so. Thank you
Hey Dave - There is no stock rail for the rifle. It has a little piece of 3 inch picatinny at the trigger and that's it. I custom makes these rails out of aluminum and there is zero flex. Send me an email at backyardairgun@gmail.com.
Nice stuff
Appreciate it
First, thanks for your highly informative contents.
It's 97 decibels reached in your test with or without a suppressor?
I ask you because you shared another video in a forum about your suppressed FX, and you said that Challenger Pro is louder than the FX at 110 decibels.
I can buy a Challenger Pro 35 generation 1. For recreational shooting and even defense in a second or third home.
All with a suppressor: it's Pro 35 24"
×significantly× louder than Pro 24" 30 or 25 caliber?
Among the two you'ld choose the Pro 30 caliber instead of Pro 25, given the defensive purpose?
Or better a Pro 25 shooting say Zan 41 gr @1010 FPS, maybe for further penetration?
Seneca hunting pellets are not available here.
Again, it's suppressed Pro 30 that louder than suppressed 25?
(I know that firearms are better for defensive task but I want to check that ticket anyway).
They can fit only DonnyFl with adapter, Ronin or Emperor to Challenger Pro 35 caliber, correct?
Thanks.
97 decibels is with a moderator. I'm sure which other video you are referring to. Challenger Pro rifles have more power than the same caliber in FX M3 rifle. Example... A FX M3 in 30 cal will always be quieter the a Challenge Pro 30 with the same moderator.
A Challenger Pro in 35 cal is louder than same rifle in 30, 25, or 22 cal. In my opinion, a big bore 35 cal PCP rifle is not backyard friendly in most backyards.
30 cal is louder than 22 and 25 cal. DonnyFL makes adaptors and moderators for all Challenger Pro in 22, 25, 30, and 35 cal. I have them on all of my Challenger Pro rifles.
@@backyardairguns thanks. So your next choice would be 30 instead of 25? I repeat, both defense and backyard shooting.
The Challenger Pro in 30 cal will give you 150 FPE. The 25 cal will give you 100 FPE. I would not want to get hit by either one. The 25 cal is more backyard friendly and ammo is cheaper. The 30 cal has more power. You would be happy with either one I think.
I'm shooting a 25 cal and I got a 34 6 grain at 1180 Fps = 112 FPE at 3000 psi and 200 bar on the regulater
I can't go higher than 3000 PSI, It will get valve locked because my regulator won't hold pressure, so when i try to put more than 3000 PS, I. it will continue to go over 200 bar, and I don't want to hurt anything, so I keep it at 3000psi . These are still very impressive results for only 3000 PSI . I. I've never seen a 25-caliber shot this hard ever on any platform. If so, please show me where I can find this info.
112 FPE for a 25 Cal is crazy (in a good way) :-)
What do you think for coyote head shot at 100yrds.or buy fx dynamic 600mm barrel in 357
In my opinion, both rifles will take down coyotes with head shots at 100 yards. The FX will be more accurate overall, and you can change barrels, but at twice the cost.
Is fx worth the extra money? 🤔
In my opinion... Yes. I own two FX Impact M3 rifles, and they are amazing rifles. I have many AEA rifles, and they are great value also. Either one will work well for you.
Can you try heavier slugs .140 grain
I shot 178g NSA, and they did ok. I think the sweet spot for this rifle is between 90g and 145g.
What’s Up Mike

How Do I Make Contact With You, In Order To Buy Them ?
Hi Tony,

Where is the safety located? I don't see it in the trigger guard.
The safety is on both sides rifle right above trigger. :-)
🤠 Hi, I watched the video again and wondered how much silent would the .30 cal version of the Challenger Pro LB be. Have you measured the difference? Also since you own the other standard challenger Pros in .30 cal did you notice a significant noise difference between them and the LB in .35? Thank you 👍
The 30 cal version will be not as loud as the 35 cal. I can shoot the 30 cal Challenger in my backyard with a moderator; but it still might be too loud for a lot of backyards. I loaned my 30 cal Challenger Pro to my neighbor to go deer hunting with so I don't have access to that rifle yet. When I get it back I will do some DB sound testing with it and follow up with you.
Happy Shooting,
Mike
🤠Thank you so much, it would be awesome if you can do that 👍 to learn if the loudness difference is significant enough to justify giving up the more powerful 35 cal.
I suppose the problem is that one wants everything: power, longest distance, accuracy... and silence. Since all that is not possible it requires significant research to learn what is the formula one can live with for each rifle type and caliber; some pros and some cons.
What I learned hunting boar with the CZ in .308 was that because “the huge noise” is not easy to find hunting grounds that were far away enough from the edge of wilderness villages and non-hunting farmers that would be comfortable with someone they don’t know shooting in “their” neighborhood where they have lived all their lives. Boars cover large distances and as you follow the packs before sunrise or at dusk you often end up in places you never been before, so the ideal is a as silent as possible gun.
According to the information you have given me I would love to have the power and accuracy of the Challenger Pro LB, but I am worried about doing an impractical purchase considering my hunting geography because the noise level. "That is why I started looking for comparative data on the Challenger Pro and Challenger Pro LB in .30 cal."
* I suppose the FPE for the Challenger Pro in .30 Cal would be around 116; - but I have not seen the FPE for the “Challenger Pro LB” in .30 cal. -
Another fellow on UA-cam perforated through two chickens placed in a row at 100 yards with a .30 cal. Daystate rifle measuring 90 FPE. Is not as tough as hitting mammal fibrous meat and bone but useful information.
🤠 I forgot to mention that I will pick the best moderator, big, whatever. The Biggest I have seen is the Emperor, I assume the size has a reason for being@@backyardairguns
I would opt to go with the Long Barrel version over the standard Challenger Pro version in both 30 and 35 cal. The Pellet Shop dropped the price of the Long Barrel to $850, and the standard version is $760. For $90 more you get a longer 30 inch barrel, a larger 170cc plenum, a better butt stock, better accuracy, and 50 fpe more. No brainer to me for only $90 more.
The next level up is the AEA Challenger Elite in 357 cal for $997. This rifle is made to take down bear, elephants, zombies, etc. It is almost as loud as a 308 rimfire, with or without a DonnyFL. It puts out 270 fpe and will shoot through 16 plate steel at 100 yards. I have two videos coming out in 2 weeks on this rifle. 😁💪

Thanks SoCal - I will give that a try. I have a review coming soon on the Challenger Pro 30 Cal Long Barrel.
I don't know about a pellet through a 4X4, but my .457 will stick a slug through FIVE 2X4's... Not a pellet but, you know.... To make it interesting I put the air rifle up against a 44 mag slinging 240grn LaserCast solid @~1200 fps and a 45 Super slinging a 260 grain cast WW lead & powder coated @ ~1200 fps. The Air Rifle holds it's own.... The air rifle is firing a 419 grain WW slug at about 840 fps.
