Actually pretty good and well researched video. Semi-related but you can upscale sprites with "nearest neighbor" scaling so that they look way better and not blurry when upscaled in the video.
hi SGM!!!! I'm really glad you found this video. Thanks for the advice, I felt a bit guilty uploading the video knowing the sprites rendered so blurry but I delayed it so much that I just wanted to upload it already lol. I'll keep that in mind when working on my next project! Hope you've been doing great ever since you stopped doing videos for your main channel, you seem to be having fun uploading shilly sort stuff on SGM+
@@TheRealRiver2763 and with it being the easiest, 9 times out of 10, it is the most fun to code (not saying it actually is, just going based on my theory)
Oh my god this is an absolutely amazing video, I am incredibly shocked you only have 130 subscribers. This was a joy to watch, I'm definitely gonna try summoner it looks really cool 😎
(Excuse my long typing, I just have a lot to say lol) For real, when I first played Tmodloader, I was so stoked to play calamity because of how much hype I heard, just to utterly disappointed because it was kinda mediocre compared to what people had me expecting, I do still play it because it is fun and all, but even now, with or without the calamity addons (catalyst, infernum, wrath of gods, etc) it still just feels somewhat boring. Then there was when I first played Fargo’s Soul, that was by far the most fun I have had in Terraria, and then Thorium, honestly felt more fun to play than Calamity, and it felt nice since it was just a DLC in a way, and even more so with how a few months back, I had a thorium addon that changed the boss AI, which was actually really fun, so people are definitely making Calamity seem like a god send when it is just a flawed but decent mod
@raeann445 Calamity is a fun mod but it's objectively not that good and overshadows actually well made mods like Fargo's Thorium or Spirit. Fargo's is literally my favorite mod for any game ever tbh but that doesn't say a lot considering I don't really play that many modded games outside of Terraria...
@ yeah no I agree with you, Thorium and Fargos are fighting for the #1 spot with me, and they are both just so freaking fun, Fargos might be a bit overwhelming with its massive majority of items, but they execute how to spread it out PROPERLY, by having things locked behind bosses constantly, and even allowing you to benefit heavily from actual hard work (such as the enchantments, which take a while to get, but can actually make you go through the first few bosses pretty easily) and even if you don’t get all the enchantments by the time you reach end game, you can literally just fight the champions to get them, which the fights are average, but they are meant to be mini bosses (besides the champion of cosmos, which is literally the most fun champion fight in my opinion) and they have rewards that are actually worth it in order to get the soul of terraria, and like I said, they span out the majority of their items PROPERLY, something I struggle dealing with in Calamity since you can already get so much just at the start of the game, then unlock like 30 more things after a boss Then Thorium: it’s just a terraria dlc in a way, it adds in quite a few new bosses, all very good, and even has 3 new classes, which they are all good, and manageable, even the class that works best in multiplayer is still doable in single player, and then it actually has a decent final boss, which is fun as hell in my opinion. And all classes are loved equally by the mod as well. In short, calamity is overrated. Decent at best but overrated
The PreHM was never a problem. Pre mech was though as you could only use preHM items or spider staff. It meant you either had to be really good or build walls around boss arenas for spiders to climn on. Also you could get pirate staff for destroyer but it was just horrible. Summoner also had way less defense than any other class in early hardmode with only spider armor until you beat plantera. This was like 20 defense compared to 40 defense with mage hallowed armor.
Very good video as always, no notes i think, beyond the fact there wasn't a 7 chapters talking about how the desert tiger staff is the best item ever put into a video game, do better next time
Melee: no secondary resource so doubles down on using and preserving HP to do damage (being forced to evade excessively is bad for accuracy and DPS, especially with Melee's general attack range limitations) Ranged: secondary resource is wildly abundant, borderline free especially once in Hardmode, does decent damage at a safe distance as can be fun with bows (I find gun-ranger boring even though technically we're doing the same thing) Mage: secondary resource is """free"""" but can actually limit the user until mana flower (and even then you're burning an accessory slot and taking a hit to over-all DPS, yet it's still worth it somehow). Most weapons can hit reliably from a safe distance and even have good homing 3 screen-lengths away towards endgame, also the only class in the game (other than melee) that can actively support allies in multiplayer, albeit not directly. Summoner: melee, but you die in two hits and 90% of your damage output drops if you get out of whipping-range of your target, but it's ok because you have body guards when fishing and allegedly have the best DPS potential by endgame (if you play your whips right because hmm yes we need a complex class that still dies in two hits in exchange for a slight DPS boost over other classes sometimes maybe). PS Calamity is great until you fight Calamitas Clone/Supreme Calamitas and suddenly you die instantly for not being a master at Touhou with gravity and an actual hit box (seriously, why do people think making Terraria play like a Touhou clone is a good idea? Empress of Light is one thing because the bullet patterns at least make sense, Calamitas Clone/Supreme Calamitas are just wall of death by unblockable damage over time effect that kills you in four seconds regardless of build is straight up unfair).
Also don’t buy into *big mana flower* and his trickery, just remind mana potion to mouse2 or 3 for a super quick and easy way to use a mana potion without wasting a valuable accessory slot
@@marioglz05 Movement is cool and all, but there's a hard line between "Action RPG" and "Get hit once and you die". Calamitas Clone/Supreme Calamitas cross that line. Technically Empress of Light also crosses that line, but only in day-time rage mode, making it optional, and she *actually has bullet patterns* instead of... Supreme Calamitas' screen-wide """"attack patterns""".

thrower was literally deleted it's just ranger now lmao it's funny because thrower weapons used to be ranged in 1.2, and then they reverted them back to ranger in 1.4
