    I found a video of this guy trying to pass three Vagos on Facebook ! That guy didn’t understand why you shouldn’t roll up on a club! I made a comment , then about every yuppie started in on me! So I told them all , go ahead roll the dice and ride threw them! But remember this very conversation so that when you’re getting you’re ass beat , you can refer back to this conversation and say to you’re self “ oh that’s what he meant”! Too many young riders these days don’t understand biker culture and the do’s and don’ts! Better get educated , before they educate 🫵🏻!

    Very first summer riding I had a positive encounter with a 1% Club on the road. Not going to say the name of the organization it was not the major one for the area though. I was traveling in the right-hand Lane on my bike and the club came up behind me to my left. The road Captain got my attention and let he noticed they were back there and that they were about to pass me so I would not accidentally pull into their formation. As they passed I made sure to pay my respects even before I saw the one on their vests. When the tail Gunner got up alongside of me he signaled that he was the last one and they continued on. Absolutely zero issues whatsoever.

      9 times out of 10 (and of course there are always exceptions to every rule), if you show a club respect... you won't have a problem. Now, if you go trying to act like a jack ass, or show your oats or whatever... yeah.. you're gonna end up in a bad position. But almost to a man, and I've met and known hundreds over the years... 1 percenters are good folks... They don't wanna be fucked with, and they won't fuck with you as long as you stay out of their way. These cats carry a loyalty and respect thats seldom seen these days. Again, there are exceptions to every rule, but for the most part.

    • @BigSmittyRiding
      @BigSmittyRiding  2 роки тому +12

      I think being respectful and being respected is important to just about everyone. And if someone in a club is disrespectful it’s not to some random person. It’s to someone who was disrespectful to them in most cases.

      @Big Smitty Riding
      Illegally blocking traffic just so that they can pass is incredibly disrespectful to random people.
      Threatening civilians with violence that may not understand their culture and are under no obligation to abide by *their* clubs' way of doing things is incredibly disrespectful.

    • @BigSmittyRiding
      @BigSmittyRiding  2 роки тому +8

      @@robertwilliams5015 Most people don't threaten others with violence. That's some made up tv stuff. Blocking traffic so bikes can get by doesn't really hurt anyone in the grand scheme of things. I see your points but most of the time these actions are over exaggerated and not the case. It does happen and I can't deny that it does, but not in 99% of the cases.

    • @robertwilliams5015

      @Big Smitty Riding
      I'm glad you see my point instead of totally dismissing them, which is what I've seen/heard other times that I brought this up.
      I'm a solo rider in a city with a decent sized bike culture, and I've seen some REALLY disrespectful things that have often led to some pretty bad assaults on civilians. From what I've seen, it has always been brought on by the clubs. Oftentimes, civilians don't even realize that what their doing is seen as a sign of disrespect to the clubs. (Which shouldn't matter anyway because no one is obligated to respect them)
      Illegally blocking/impeding civilians in cars, however, is a sign of disrespect regardless of the reason and absolutely shouldn't be tolerated. A few guys from a club in my town a few years back were actually charged with false imprisonment for blocking an ER nurse at an intersection who was on her way to the hospital to do her shift.

    • @BigSmittyRiding
      @BigSmittyRiding  2 роки тому +8

      @@robertwilliams5015 Man I feel like we can have different opinions and view points and still have a good conversation without being disrespectful or dismissive of each others points. I'll agree, not all club members do right. But not all bikers do right either. I don't want to see anyone get hurt or have issues due to a club. But I still believe that the issues we are speaking of are few and far between and most club members are good folks.

    It all comes down to respect and it is the same respect given in any aspect of society. I think where people get tripped up on is thinking 1% are criminals that deserve no respect. How would they treat the rest of society? Who's gonna speed up and get in the middle of 6 cop cars? Who's gonna not respect any funeral procession? Who's gonna crash a conference of neurosurgeons? Who's gonna walk up in the middle of a private conversation? Who's gonna jump in the middle of a Girl Scout meeting? NO ONE. I've had great experiences with clubs when in bad situations. They've surrounded me and led me to safety. The sweep of a major 1% club here stopped to make sure my daughter was ok. Great video!

    Last weekend my Riding Club participated in a huge toy run here. While the clubs were organized & orderly, maintaining club integrity & cohesiveness, the independents, lone wolves, unaffiliated, whatever were just all over the place. Passing whomever they wanted whenever they wanted. Weaving out of the procession then back in, often in the middle of a club. Even non-club riders need to learn respect & road manners, because I know a lot of guys were ready to teach some hard lessons by the time we reached the ride destination. I will also add this, when you are an invited guest riding with a club, you really need to maintain the club integrity on the road.

    As someone who is in an MC and wears a diamond, pretty much everything he said is spot on. Not all clubs, even diamonds, are violent nasty scum, but they have gone through a process that is very structured (usually taking many months or longer, to go from "hang around" to prospect to patch) and as a result, they tend to like to see things done a certain way. They are men who enjoy fraternity, riding, and having a good time, but one thing that is common in every club I've been in and interacted with (and it has been many dozens) it's about respect.

You know how hard it is to ride at 80mph standing up on your bike and looking over your handle bars to make sure your brother's bike is ok cause the president didn't know they crashed til we got back to the clubhouse.

    Back in the day I once rode out from Ohio all the way to Sturgis with the local Cleveland/Lake East HAMC chapters. Which along the way turned into a few other HA chapters from other states joining us on the ride. The only advice I'd give to someone willing to make the same ride I did is you better have the need for speed. Otherwise you'll be left in the dust riding to SD all by yourself if you can't keep up with the way they ride, no bout a doubt it. Plus, IDGAS if you're riding an old shovelhead or a brand new Evo don't forget to have a tool set on hand just in case. Trust me, it's a long hard fast AF ride that seems never ending at times when you're on the road running with the pack of insane speed thrill seeker's always on blast except for a couple minutes to gas up the bikes. It's certainly an experience I'll never forget & one I don't regret. Yet, don't advise it to the weak-minded who don't have the nuts too keep it open all the way full throttle till you get to the Black Hills. So pull up your boot straps & giddy up! Tick-Tock you're on the clock. Oh, & I shouldn't have to tell ya to show respect & mind your manners when you're riding with anyone but especially if you're riding with an 1% MC. That's just plain common sense really. Just saying... +Peace & Rock n' Roll 4 Your Soul My Friends+ 🤘😜🤘

    I've been wondering if a Club might have use of a Cager Ram and Gas/Beer hauler. Rode for 12 years then stroked and kidney failure followed by a Transplant. My vision has gotten worse so riding is no longer an option, however, I *can* haul Beer, spare gas and parts even a BBQ grill-become the Clubs 'Cookie' for long trips. Plus I have a heavy Jeep that would make a nice Cagr barrier and rammer, if needed. Just wishful thinking but damn I miss the wind-and the bugs in my teeth. lol

      I’m sorry you had to give up riding. In some clubs they have friends of the club and supporters who sometimes drive the chase vehicle on longer trips and such. It all depends. There are clubs who are American bikes only and there are clubs that don’t care as long as it’s above a certain motor size. It’s really hard to know. I suggest before you go around a certain club research them and see if they ride Harleys or American bikes only. Then decide from there. You might like a club enough that you want to buy a bike so you can even be considered by them. It just depends on you and what you’re comfortable with.

    Come up on a club riding? Best to keep your distance and stay behind them don't try to pass..

    There are a few things I'll never understand, and one of them is the "side by side" formation. It doesn't matter how good you ride, it only takes one small fuck up, even an unexpected mechanical failure, to kill everyone behind you. The whole point of staggering, is that there's a path for people to escape around, in the event of a worst case scenario, as well as safe cushion for stopping distance. I just don't get why anyone would willfully tempt fate like that.

    • @BigSmittyRiding

The ones I have been around! Are pretty damn good people! Ride on Brothers And Sister's! Keep The Rubber Side Down!

    Im in a club n I hear people say all the time "im an American I can ride when n where I want n do what I want" well its not what you think you can do....its what that club thinks you can do n if ya dont know ya better educate yourself your life may depend on it.....

    • @BigSmittyRiding
      @BigSmittyRiding  3 роки тому +1

      Absolutely! People always say that they can do what they want until they learn they can’t! It pays to learn what to and what not to do. Thank you very much for your feedback and for watching.

      I completely disagree with you on this one. With full respect to clubs and their members, basic rider etiquette should suffice. I get that the MC is doing their thing and good on them but ownership of the road through threat of violence is lame. What I mean is there are unskilled people on the road everywhere. Because I decide that I want to travel on 2 wheels I now have to adhere to a set of rules unknown to me or risk physical violence? Lame. I offer this as a turn in thinking. If cars and trucks didn't want bikers on the roads because of riding behavior, expected respect, etc and the consequences for not knowing these rules was the cars and trucks would just run you off the road and be done with you was the accepted road rule that wouldn't fly. Earning respect and demanding respect are two totally different things and if you're the type of person running around demanding respect from unknown people based on your ego or otherwise, I say check yourself.

    I read one guy's comment on a FB group...he actually said, "So you had to get your daddy's permission to put patches on your vest?" He said this to a guy who simply said he spoke with local MCs to better educate himself on what are/are not MC-specific patches.

      Some people are clueless and need to find out the hard way. I try to tell them nicely before they learn a hard lesson. But, some people need to learn and do it quickly.

    Even when I drive, I go out of my way to block and protect my two-wheeled brethren. I've been zipping along the highway, and a small pack starts to ride up. I pull over to the right and wave them on in. I usually get a nod from the Ride Cap and the TG when the group completely passes. I've seen too many people not be...well...simply a good neighbor, a conscientious rider, or a polite driver. If there's a bike in a lane, and I see a car coming up way too fast, I'll pull in behind that bike to set up a buffer, so the car doesn't pose as much of a threat.
    We help each other. Use your blinkers, and I'll let you in, whatever you're driving or riding.
    Be safe. Ride.
