The Ferryman | Fiddlers Green | Dirty Old Town | Rare Auld Times | All For Me Grog | Farewell To Harstad | Medley: Black Velvet Band, Dicey Reilly, Marino Waltz, The Irish Rover | The Wild Rover | Molly Malone
An era has truly ended, the original people and music we have forever in our hearts and thankfully, on recordings. This very Irish girl feels very melancholy but.... look what has been secured for us to enjoy!! John & Co., God Bless You All!
Just not the same anymore. I'll contine to watch & listen to the Dubliners of old.
John left in the end of 2012 - and therefore the Dubliners stopped.
Patsy,Sean,Eamon and Gerry will continue in another way, under different name :)
at least the ''old newbies'' john and sean are still there ...lol
I was there live in Dortmund and it was Great because the dubs are dead Occurred again And yet I missed the stories of Barney. Too bad John is an era of 50 years to end stage But thankfully the rest of the group continues and comes back in the fall of 2013 to Germany. I 'm with you.
in braunschweig dabei gewessen .super
tis a shame that they have retired in some sense, but with the original members now all deceased,it seems fitting that the dubliners have now retired as we knew them.as much as i love the music contributions of john and sean,to continue as the dubliners wouldn't seem right but at least the memories have been left on video for us and future generations to enjoy
Ich liebe diese "Alten Opas".
its Gerry O'Connor
nice taught to have barney on the screen singing
Who is the replacement for Barney playing the banjo?
Sounds good BUT you can not compare it to the Dubs. I found a LP in the age of 6 years in 1985 of the Dubs and visited ~40 concerts over 27 years. This gig is the best indicator that this has nothing to do with the Dubs. The voices of Ronnie, Luke, Ciaran, Bob and Jim were unique. And yes, as Sean entered the line up his voice was very characteristic and good selection in songs likes „Sally Whitley“ etc.. Paddy Reilly’s entering in 1995 was a feeling of a missed son came home to his family. In combination with their playing skills the instruments (John, Barney and Eammon) gave a very special sound. But after 2005 with Patsy Watchorn the story ended. The music was not synchron anymore and after 2012, so without John and Barney, it is a complete other band. Paul is making a good job, it sounds like in any Irish Pub. Not bad but in respect to the Dubliners, that has nothing to do with them.
Example: Luke‘s last concert in Amsterdam singing the Wild Rover. Listen to his voice (still less power but still unique), to all others in the chorus and the instruments around: ua-cam.com/video/sXklcG6wl0E/v-deo.html
Wild Rover is played at this gig as last song as well!
