This might be one of the better vet 30 sounds I’ve heard. Killer demo.
veteran for sure. also, love this idea, would be great to see more speaker comparisons like this!
Yes! This is what I’ve been waiting for. Speaker shootouts. Each of the speakers has its strong points. Put one of each in a 212 cabinet or 2 of each in an X pattern in a 4x12 and you’ve got it all covered! You proved that rather well at the end.
Great demo of these speakers and they sound really awesome together because they blend so well and filling where each speaker lacks. Excellent sound here.
Everytime i hear those wearhouse speakers, they blow my mind. All of them. Ive got a mesa 2×12 with the mesa v30s and they are great. But everytime i hear the wearhouse's they all sound so full and just so killer. Id really like to have a cab loaded with those.
Thanks man, I just love the punch, girth, complexity, clarity, and depth of the V30.
First time catching you, nice job brother. Definitely the veteran 30. Much fuller sound, much more articulate better voicing to my ears anyway. I’ve been looking for replacement speakers for a couple of my cabs and that help me make up my mind so I appreciate it
Great Video!! I've got some v30's that I use in the studio...love them. I'm very interested these Warehouse speakers now....nice full tone. I ordered one...can't wait to see how it thickens the mix.
Good honest review ... very thorough. I built a 2x12 with a couple WGS speakers (Veteran 30 + ET65) and it suits my ears perfectly. Using a H&K Tubemeister Deluxe 20 head.
I was looking at the et65 or green beret, but ended up getting the reaper Hp to pair with my veteran 30 in the 212 cab I built as well! It’s very full sounding. I’ve been shooting that combination with every other speaker combination I have, (vintage 30, Marshall g12t75 from early 90’s, and China g12t75) and it’s the best combo. Veteran 30 sounds good with the Marshall t75 as well. They compliment each other, especially in a recording mix.
The WGS sounds great. Fuller and less harsh.
I love the chord sounds and dissonance from the veteran, might switch my current speaker for it
Definitely sounds more musical
Awesome format, Kyle! Really like it!
Kyle your humor is always spot on man \m/
Room mic was a huge help. Warehouse sounded way more articulate with the room mic.
Nice job! Like every other speaker demo I love the sound of combining both lol. Each one seems to fill any gaps the other might have. 🤘🤘🤘
I think the Veteran 30 sound better to my ears, since I'm considering building or buying a speaker cabinet to plug into my computer's guitar amp simulator software.
This is a great comparison! I love my veteran 30’s in my 2x12 Revv cab!
Sick video too, listen with headphones, this was awesome !
I have a v30 and an eminence Texas heat in my 212 currently and I think they compliment well as you have said this amp is a little on the bright side and having 2 mics you can really get a nice balanced blend
V30 All Day. Veteran sounds great but a lot warmer and kinda and not as sharp in the midrange I gotta have that snarl and bite. Great video Kyle.
Yay! need more speaker shootouts! On my end they sound pretty damn similar, I'm 60 years old so maybe that's why. I'm pretty much a v30 guy but the warehouse sounds pretty damn good!
My boy Kyle saving e standard
Thr heaviness is in the amp tone and riffs
Refused Saved E Standard
E flat is better IMO.
Wow I caught myself fully loving the vet 30 more! Going to buy one now
Excellent comparison! One factor that might change things is the cab placement - against the wall and one cab having a heavy amp on top.
For sure, going to do these intros differently moving forward
omg !! both speakers together sounds freaking massive! i will definitely will like to try those speakers together on one 2x12 cab ! will sound awesome
When he played them together I don't think it was volume compensated. If so, then your ears will be falling for the old, louder is better trick, without really knowing the true comparison.
@@matttaylor1449 its not the volume I don't mean that,i mean the low end is more and the highs of the vintage 30 balance well with the other speaker , sounds tighter and with more clarity as well, both speakers together is the best of the both worlds i think
Great video presentation! Thanks for sharing. Surprised that I ended up liking both! They are so different that there is a use for each on a given place or night or recording.
They both sound good. They are different.
The Vetern is a bit more rounded, a touch fuller, but still aggressive.
They were neck and neck until you used the room mic and I think the Veteran sounded better.
I like the palm mutes more with the vetern 30 overall. Very musical.
I have two 212 cabs, one with V30s and one with Veteran 30s. They work well together and depending on how much mids my amp has, sometimes that affects which speaker sounds better. But either works great.
YES!!! It's the relation between the 3..
Awesome man.
You can't just expect EVH speakers and suddenly you're "erupting".
Work that shit in until it's good enough.
Cheers!
Guitar gear is getting to the point where it’s not a matter of which one is better it’s more along the line of which one do you prefer, great time to be a guitar player, although the amount of gear actually makes it harder
Couldn't agree more!
Love both speakers. I’ve got a 4x12 with 2 V30’s and 2 WGS ET-65’s in an X pattern and it sounds so good. I’m about to take the uk v30’s out of my Mesa and do the same! Except.. going to use Vet30’s w/ ET-65’s
Together sounds amazing!
As a Thrash Metal guitarist who scoops mids I prefer the veteran 30 because it almost sounds ride the lightning like to me.
Killing it man! Great comparison video!
Awesome video, I love speaker shootouts like this. Maybe you can do some more? If you want another v30 like speaker I cannot recommend the Eminence CV-75 enough. \m/
Nice comparison video. To me, The WGS sounds wider. Reminds me of the Mesa Black Shadow C90 speaker, which has the same overtone to it vs a V30.
When the cabs were blended, that's when magic happened. Those two speakers actually really compliment each other.
Nice format ! I really like this !
I use to use x pattern with these two speakers in my mesa recto 4x12 and they worked very well together in the same cabinet.
The combo was very very nice sounding.
Great video comparison! I have a 212 with 2 v30s and another with a vet30 and reaper HP. Definitely going to swap on of the v30s for the vet30 and see how I like it. Maybe the v30 will sound better with the Reaper.
Veteran sounds darker and more muffled. I’ll take the V30 every time.
I have the veteran 30, it doesn’t sound this muffled. This mark just doesn’t know how to EQ his amp. Besides he’s playing with a shitty amp to begin with.
The veteran is warmer and fuller. Muffled isn’t in there in either speaker.
Using some good quality headphones and neither sound muffled at all. If judging sound it's best to use headphones or at least some better home theater sound.
I think that is only true in the highest gain situation, other than that the WGS is the bigger sounding speaker.
@@emoboi311 its a 5150 stealth. How is that a shitty amp
nice guitar! love schecter, got a huge collection of this guitars. when i play a similar setup i use a modified marshall box with v30/gt75 and love this compination, perfect for the peavey!
WGS ET65's were an improvement over the V30's in my Carvin Belair 212. I also replaced the V30's in my 4X12 Avatar cab with Jensen Electric Lightning speakers about 10 years ago and noticed a big improvement with those as well.
The Electric Lighnings are awesome speakers, very underrated!
Great demo man! Exactly what I was looking for. Thinking of putting 2 in my Orange HP8 4x12 that's loaded with k100s. Do an X pattern.
Happy it helped!
I use a tube combo amp and would really like both of these speakers but because it's a 1x12, I went with the fuller sound of the Veteran, I feel the distortion on the veteran is almost like you somehow obtained more gain and a bit less bottom end which is nice for not boosting through walls at night on lower sound levels, plus it sounds, or I believe it has more of a snarl to it than the vintage. If the veteran wasn't a choice, 100% I would have a vintage.
That Veteran sounds fabulous, SLAYS the Celestion
Dude those retro 30s sound like they would be insane through my rockerverb
Warehouse are my fave speakers
I'm with @TheAxe4ever on this one. I think they compliment each other well while still retaining the same basic flavor. It's like a shot of Goldschlagger & Hot Damn mixed together if you will... Different, but complimentary to each other.
I like the veteran 30, sounds like g12t and g12h anniversary that I combined on my 2x12 cab.
I like them together
If I can only choose one, I'd have to give it to the Vintage 30, but my favorite is the blend. When the guitar is by itself I actually prefer the fuller, less spiked sound of the Veteran 30 overall, although the Veteran 30 still sounds good. But once you get in a mix or play live the Vintage 30 is going to cut through better because of that spike and the strong upper-mid presence it produces. But I think the blend of both works so well because they are similar enough not to clash in the shared frequencies but the differences they do have are complimentary and even out with each other.
There's something good to be said about the way the Celestion V30 sounds through the room mic.
in a mix using the v 30s is going to save a lot of post eq because of the more mid focused sound. if you use the veteran 30s you will have to to more work cuttung the low end or your guitar sound will interfere with the bass and kick drums making your mix sound muddy.
Purely on its own I’d take the Veteran 30 all day. Smoother, fuller, less compressed to my ears.
However, in a band setting the V30 is really hard to beat.
I have a cab at home loaded with V30’s purely for playing live, it just takes hardly any eq to cut through.
But when I’m playing at home I never use that cab, it’s just too spikey and harsh.
For home playing I really like the Eminence dv-77’s. They’re amazing speakers.
Veteran all day long !!!!
Greenbacks vs v30s next please, or blackbacks
Veteran vs Mesa voiced V-30 is the better comparison in this video the Veteran is the clear winner
Just out of curiosity, is this a standard celestion vintage 30? and was it UK made or Chinese? I have my Marshall loaded with Mesa Spec V30's because they are smoother than standard celestion V30's.
I know several other Marshall owners that do this too.
The WGS ones sounded better imo, more focused and smooth.
To me I thought when you started of with the warehouse in the room mike test I didn't like the v30 as much. Like you said, changing speaker cabs , you almost need a min to recalibrate your ears. Same with I.R. scrolling through them quickly. ones I thought I liked no I didn't. So I have to spend a bit of time playing it to remind myself , oh that's why it's good. Just my two cents. Great job bro.
v30 good, Warehouse throws a whole lotta rosie in the mix
Would you recommend to upgrade the stock G12H on those cabs? V30 vs G12H what are your thoughts?
I definitely like the Veteran 30, as much as the Vintage 30 depending on the amp used or how it's dialed in, however, I like the WGS Retro 30 even more than the Vintage 30 and the Veteran 30. What WGS labels as an update and higher power handling Veteran. I dunno, but I likeit more than both of em, the way I dial in my amps.
My favorite was when you used them both together.
I was never aware of "Veteran 30's" I'll have to look them up.
V30 and Creamback 75H in my 2x12 setup. Well balanced
Me too V30 under and 75h up 😀

I would like to see a section on every speaker comparison where the person eg the amp to his or her prefered sound on each speaker. We always hear an A/B swap with the amp set the same. Well that helps to hear the difference between them but not the potencial of them and it might favor one speaker and I guess the one used to dial the amp to start with. I dial the amp different for different speakers and it’s not until I dial it for each speaker that I’m able to choose a preferred one.
Going to incude this on future videos, for sure. I asked a few people how to dial in these videos better, and that was their main suggestion.
@@belligerentamateur your demo was good. What I told you happens on almost every speaker comparison I see. So don’t feel bad about it. 😁😁 Keep doing good stuff.
Great comparison, Kyle. Do you have the WGS ET65 by any chance? Really interested in that speaker
What year is the vintage 30? There seems to be a big discrepancy between the early 00’s and mid 00’s speakers. Evidently the early 00’s ones aren’t nearly as harsh and are a lot more smooth sounding. Also, the new ones (2021 or later I think) tend to sound very similar to the early 00’s ones
Veteran 30 all day for me in this comparison. Sounds way more like how you'd want your tone in a mix.
The veteran 30 sounds better though. The bottom isn’t there with the V30. The highest gain situation is where the V30 sounds best.
Would love to hear the V30 against the DV77 if you can get your hands on some!
I think a 4x12 or vertical 2x12 with Vintage 30 on top and Veteran 30 on bottom would probably sound great... With half of each you will still have some of that Vintage 30 spike/presence but less than with a cab full of them, but by placing Vintage 30 on top then what spike/presence you do still have should still be able to project better. Likewise, you will end up with some of that fuller/darker sound of the Veteran 30s which should make the overall sound a bit fuller but not as dark as with just Veteran 30s, and since the Veteran 30s don't have that cutting presence then less is lost by having them on the bottom.
Not sure if anyone asked but what version of v30 did you use, Chinese or UK? Just curious. Great video, you should do more speaker and cab videos as they really affect your tone. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Hey Kyle! I liked the video comparison of the WGS Veteran 30 & Celestion Vintage 30 speakers. I'm a Vintage 30 kind of guy myself. Would you make comparing the Celestion Vintage 30 & Eminence Red Coat series Governor speaker? I think the Governor speaker is underrated and would like to hear a sonic comparison.
Personal preference, I like the Veteran 30 better. Now that said they both are killer speakers.
Veteran 30 sounded close to a Mesa MC-90 to my ears
V30 👍, the veteran was a little too dark for me but maybe paired with a brighter speaker. I use a V30 & G12T-75 loaded 4x12
They pair nicely, for sure!
V30 for me. I'm a simple man and it just does metal better than anything. In the room and miced up. The veteran is nice though, creamback ish I'd say.
Dialing bass mid treble to 6 6 6 before playing hi gain riff. I will try it next time and hope the power from the depth make my guitar sounds so angry. Another idea, I will dial in 9 9 9 before playing clean tone. So the higher power may bless my guitar.
V30 is still like V30. Veteran 30 somewhat remind me of greenback. I like the combination of both. My guess is veteran 30 will sound good when combined with creamback H75.
Veteran sound damn good.
the veteran 30s seem to have the mids a bit tamed and that low low end "boom" from the vintage 30s is a little boosted on the veterans.
good stuff. how easy was it to swap out old speakers for the veterans? I love to hear both of these in a mix switched backed in forth to see which cuts through/sits better.
Its easy. 10 minute job max. I have some demos on my channel as well. Havent tried warehouse yet though
To my ear, I hear the veteran 30 is more present with the lower mids. The v30 sounded a little more thin. I think i prefer veteran 30 more.
I’d like to to see you sweep the resonance while chugging the E to see the low end response. I like to run the resonance on mine quite high.
Listening through the room mike, the V30s sound much better. The WGS speaker ain't bad tho!
Im at an easy point ...... I have a cabinet with shite speakers, so regardless of what I buy eminence,Warehouse or Celestions it will be a huge improvement .
More of these vids!
Is the Vet 30 actually closer to a greenback or creamback tone?
Dang Dude i hope youve gave that fretboard some love and lemon oil by now.... that thang is thirsty
Mat Damon plays guitar?
Low gain and high gain: v30
Midgain: veteran.
Just with those settings though obviously. Both together seemed to cover full frequency spectrum of mids
I prefer the V30's, I have a pair of V30's combined with a pair of eminence screaming eagle's in a framus dragon cab and it's a weapon 🤘
Once you switched to the LP Studio the Vet 30 sounded better to my ears. But that's on its own. I think in the mix the Celestion would be heard better. I wouldn't mind having some WGS for variety but if it's one over the other I'd probably stick with the V30. Somehow Celestion got the voicing just right, and every other speaker - including other Celestions - doesn't quite measure up.
I should add that I am also a big fan of Celestion Alnico speakers - love them as much as I love my V30's.
P.S. Your room mic sounds quite bad, sorry. What are you using? May I suggest checking out Earthworks QTC mics? You get on the recording pretty much what you hear in the room.
Yo dawg i think a 4x12 with 2 of each in it would sound awesome?
wow, not a huge difference there that I could hear. but the Celestion sounded a tiny bit more musical ad pleasing to the ear. I wonder if it's just that the warehouse needed to be broken in more or? anyways good to know they're are good alternatives out there because i heard they stopped making the v-30s or something?
Question then… if you have a 2x12 would it sound good to put one of each in the same cab to balance them?
V30 for me.
LETSDOEIT!
A V30 vs carvin Gt12 comparison would be cool.
