@@BeautéBlends I had a feeling the rumors of your demise were greatly exaggerated! Everyone else was being all “RIP” and I was all “she wouldn’t have died without telling me”
I follow you on Instagram and I've commented there as well but you are one of the people that I initially followed in 2021 that led to me shaving my head in December of 2021 and I've had my head shaved for 3 years this month! Sometimes I do miss my hair because when I look back at myself and I used to color my hair a beautiful shade of copper and have a ponytail. Having a shaved head versus having hair changes your whole vibe! 3 years later now, it feels like "me". I really resonated with the part where you said you always felt uncomfortable with your hair your entire life. I also have wavy hair that is a little bit coarse and I used to have to curl it in order to tame it and I never liked wearing it down because it felt strange and I have a cowlick on my bangs line so my hair never fell the right way when I parted it to the side which is how I wore it down. I first cut my hair pixie short when I was 13 and then again when I was 24. I did feel the societal pressure to grow my hair long and I was afraid I couldn't find a husband one day if I had very short hair which is unfortunate because I should have stuck to my authentic self even though my husband now loved me with long hair and is the one who encouraged me to shave my head when I asked him if I should try it. I felt most comfortable and free when I had very short hair. Every few months I consider growing my hair back out and I let it grow a little bit. But my hair is the texture that grows straight up instead of laying flat. So I will have to survive the weird hedgehog stage if I ever want to grow it out. And so far I haven't been able to have the patience and I don't like wearing hats of any kind! I've also found that shaving my head is kind of a sensory experience, which I didn't really realize before. I think one reason I didn't like wearing my hair down was because it bothered me to have it in my face and that's why I always wore a ponytail. Now when I have my shaved head, if it gets to a certain length then I can feel the hairs moving when I lay on a pillow or if they start sticking up. It bothers me and I want to have that sensation of no hair again. And I've heard from other people mainly people who are on the autism spectrum who also shave their head because of sensory issues and I wonder if that might be my own case as well. I'm not diagnosed with autism but I maybe do have a sensory issue. I also feel the same way about clothes where if they are uncomfortable I don't want to wear them. Anyway, for what it's worth, I think you look incredibly gorgeous and inspiring as a bald woman and if you ever want to go back to that look, I know that you will rock it!! Since having my head shaved for 3 years now, I'm running into more and more women who shave their head by choice or have shaved their head in the past and who tell me that it's nice to see other women embracing different looks that are non-conformist. In fact, I just had a lady tell me yesterday that the first time she shaved her head was 1984 and I was admiring her really cute pixie cut. But she told me that she shaved it off and on many many years!
Wow, thank you for sharing this! Honestly, reading your story gave me chills. It’s amazing to hear how shaving your head became such a powerful, freeing choice for you-and I can’t believe I played even a tiny part in that moment back in 2021. I totally get what you mean about hair changing your whole vibe. When I shaved my head, it felt like I was shedding a version of myself that never quite fit. That feeling like yourself for the first time is something you can’t explain unless you’ve been there. The sensory part you mentioned really hits home too. I always hated my hair falling in my face or not sitting the way I wanted it to-ponytails were my go-to as well! It’s wild how something like hair can teach us so much about comfort and who we are. Hearing about the woman who shaved her head in 1984 just adds to it-there’s this beautiful connection between people who step outside of what’s “expected” and embrace something different. It’s like this unspoken bond, and it’s so cool that you’re meeting more people like that. And can I just say, three years of rocking a shaved head? That’s badass. Whether you keep it short forever or decide to grow it out (hedgehog phase or not), I know you’ll make it look amazing because you already sound so confident and in tune with yourself. Your kind words about me with a shaved head mean so much-who knows, maybe I’ll bring the bald look back ! 😉 But for now, I’m just so inspired by you and women like you who show up as their true selves, unapologetically. You’re amazing, and I’m so glad you shared this with me. 🖤
@@BeautéBlends is it golden brunette? U haven’t tried a Mohawk? It is cool and edgy. You should definitely try that. And after the Mohawk, u can go bald.
@@wolverine5515 golden brunette is a really nice description of my hair 💕 it’s definitely a mix of things right now. Filling in the brunette over the blonde gets a little wonky. Yeah I’m thinking I might do something fun - if I’m going to buzz it again. Might as well.
can't wait to see you shave again
Aw thank you 😊
So cool to see you back, BFF4lyf!

Did you change your hair colour? Will you do a Mohawk?
Omg yes I got really tired of bleaching it. It’s so much work 😂 Not sure about a Mohawk, I’ll have to try to picture that one.
