I AM a German Mom to an American daughter. Both my daughter and I love love love your "German Mom" clips!!!!!
Same here. My 2 daughters always send me the clips.
I’m the American daughter to a German mom and my friend sent me her videos saying it always reminds him of my mom, me too!! 😂❤️ sie ist wahnsinnig lustig 😆
My daughter (14) showed me saying, "She reminds me of Oma." True. My mom just never "Americanized." Love you Mutti.
Same. I laugh so hard
I only came here to see what Laura really sounds like
Me, too! Laura seems to be a very honest person, as well as being a very talented actress (could work on her articulation as subtitles are distracting).
Same lol
Me three.
Same
So true
I love her German mum character. It is perfection. Every line adds something, the facial expressions in addition to the lines, the tones…. The judgement. Love it. Makes me feel so much better about my mums judgement. It’s interesting to read the comments on the UA-cam shorts and see how many of us relate to growing up with German mum - even though we are not German. The writing, the acting = pure perfection.
I have the feeling more non Germans than Germans relate to "German mum".
@@johanna2690 As a German I've definitely seen those women before - I think it's a certain generation, quite intellectual and career driven, maybe those are the ones who married non-Germans XD I don't necessarily see my mom, but then again, she herself was raised by a German mother and an Italian dad
My Oma acted like this growing up, I love my German family lol
I am German and I can see my German mum behaving like that! ;-)
@@sosos4306 plus the fitness attitude 🤣
When her dad is doing yard work and her mom is silently watching him from the window drinking coffee, then walks away. Amazing.
It was red wine 🍷.
Dad doing yard work is positively her funniest, most lifelike and best sketch.
that one will haunt me
@@milasliacka7329"...and a glass of wine 🙂😗☺️😗"
I noticed how good the acting was in her sketches and lo and behold she's a trained actress. Great stuff
You can really tell!
Your dad character...the way he moves inside his clothes because he has shrunk and they have not...so much love in that.
her editing is definitely incredible for increasing comedic timing
I could listen to her German mom character for HOURS! ❤
Me too. Don't know how many times I've rewatched them.
Laura is so articulate, seems very grounded and intelligent. What a cool person. This was fun to watch. ⭐️ I’d love to see her career skyrocket.
She's just so fun to listen to, period!!
Highly
The gynecologist who doesn’t care if you live or die is still my favorite. 😅😅
The TONGS!!!!!😂😂
Oh man, I've it seen that one yet!
Yes! That had me laughing so hard!
That IS my gynecologist! And when I unexpectedly gave out a gasp of pain, she looked at me as if, "are you unexperienced?"
And THEN came the Pap exam. Well, let me tell you, she was completely miffed, and she snuffed as if to say, "shall I step out of the room until you compose yourself??"
Haven't seen that one yet, now I'll have to go watch it!
"...are you a pirate?" Love that German mom critique of Lau's fashion sense for the day. Bwahaha!
She's so refreshing as a comedian, truly one in a generation.
Let's not exaggerate
Her mother impression is the best. She reminds me of my German host mother.
She would walk us all over the fjords in Norway and then say, "let's get lunch!" We were in the middle of nowhere. She meant forage for mushrooms and berries. 😅
Time and time again, we have seen the Italian mother, the Jewish mother, the Greek mother, but really, never the German mother. Who would've thought that the German mother was just as funny! On another note, Laura Ramoso is delightful, as well as incredibly talented.
the funniest
The German mother is too dang funny!!
I hope she does more.
My favorite was the one where she is on the beach with a turtle neck on😂🤣🤣
Love that one!
I watched that probably 5 times before I realized that was THE turtleneck and not just a sun protection shirt.
YEs, me too. I like that she ALWAYS is wearing the black turtleneck when she's her Mom. Such a character marker. I've had German friends, and her impression is so right-on.
Laura is so nice that she naturally asks questions because she’s genuinely interested in who she’s speaking to. It’s very rare and that’s why the interviewer is so surprised. She listens!! Go Laura you’re amazing!
As a German I was surprised to hear someone doing an actually good German accent and then nail all the little cultural things even more perfectly! In US pop culture, it's like everyone is just doing their impression of some SNL characters (or more likely, an impression of an impression of an impression...). And by watching Laura, I feel pretty confident now that I've learned a lot about Italian mannerisms too...
I agree. I’m Swiss (adopted) and Laura’s rendition of the German Mum ans Italian Dad remind me of some of my friends’ parents. It’s spot on!
I am a French mom but I recognize myself a lot in your German mom. That more straight forward way of talking to your kids. No sugar coating. Tell it as it is 😊
You mean unnecessarily judging people who are still figuring out how to be a person. Cool.
Yeah I know this attitude is wide spread in France as well :/
"it's a sugar epidemic!"
Happily married to a German woman for almost twenty years. She used to have those same conversations with her Oma. Hilarious and SO spot on. Laura is so great! Awesome vid!
My coworker reminds me of your mom and I love her to pieces!! She literally requested a meeting with me to tell me to dye my grays! Absolutely sealed our bond for life 😂❤
😂 that is fantastic and you are really cool for appreciating it!
Oh my gosh, I need that woman in my life!! 🤣😂🤣
She has a gift and that is simple to see. Her mimicry is right on and the dialogue is perfection. Kudos to her.
I've been watching Laura's stuff since lockdown and am genuinely surprised to hear that she doesn't actually speak like German Mom all the time at all. Love it so much
I'm German and I love her! At first it made me laugh because it reminded me of my grandmother and the I realized - I am that German mom now myself.. 😂
Also: she has great chemistry with the host! Very cool interview!
As many times as I have watched German mom already, I still laughed! 😂😂😂
So I think what we are witnessing here is Laura as a great writer and director in the not so far future, comedians are very smart and fast thinking people, she has the talent to do all that,I just watch her bits of her mom and dad on YT,she is really good at her stuff ! Keep them coming girl !
She's super talented.
I can't stop watching the German mom clips. I had a Syrian mom and she was much the same... only with a Brooklyn accent.
This video popped up probably because I have been watching all of Laura's videos on UA-cam, which thank you for putting them on UA-cam and not just tick tock because I do not have tick tock, but I agree I was just thinking the other day that the reason why they're so funny is because of her ability to watch people to know what is funny and then to be able to mimic it in an even funnier way and that is truly a gift.
Also Tom, I have never seen your videos before, but I really enjoyed this one, and will watch more. But I was thinking if someone ever did a parody of you, it would be Jack Black in The Holiday. Lol
Yes! I was just watching her short where her real dad pops up while she's dressed up as him and somehow she's doing everything he's doing, just ever so slightly exaggerated and it sends me! 😂
Such a funny woman and so smart. It really was sweet to hear her talk admiringly about her parents. ❤
Everyone who aims to be an interviewer should study Tom Power; he listens, he's receptive, and he understands the art of conversation. It must feel just great to talk with him.
German mum here. I resonated with the sunscreen and the trying to involve my children into activities and having no reservation to speak to strangers😂
Sumscream 😅😅😅
“Do you have a running club?!”
This girl is gonna be a big star. ❤️🇬🇧
my friend in high school had a german mom and she was SO intimidating to me at the time just from her tone but looking back she was actually really funny. her mom (and her dad!!) were both so sweet and so welcoming, like they really stuck out that way from all of my other friends' parents even if her mom did scare the crap out of me sometimes. i hope they know somehow how much i appreciate that
I first saw Laura do shopping with her German mother, thought I would die laughing. Then the closet skit - hilarious!
Also love her Dad skits. Pure genius.
I am in love with this young lady’s comedy style and her characters. She brought me out of a depressive state last night 🥹🤌🏽🤲🏼🫶🏼🙏💕🥰
This is my first time watching him, and he is a really good interviewer. Lets her talk, doesn’t interrupt, and doesn’t self promote. I love her. She is my favorite. And now he is my favorite interviewer.
Mine, too! And, I agree. He was truly interested in finding out about her.
Laura is so talented!! I LOVE German mom …. HILARIOUS!
I see this woman has been doing stage performances for years, and I just discovered her. So brilliant! One of the few I am binge watching! Great to hear her real voice and life story. As an only child in all those countries, it's no wonder she has a supra-muscular imagination developed! How did she learn to speak English with a native North American accent? Especially as a child of Europeans and spending her childhood in mainly Asian countries. Hope she talks more about her parents!
Good point! Maybe she attended international schools that taught North American dialects. But she’s probably just brilliant with language and speech!
Speaking as a military dependent, it was much the same for me… moving around every fee years etc , learning to live, respect and love all other cultures and people. Her videos all show that with a big dose of humor! She’s just great! I hope she makes a million $!😊
@@kimberlypatton205 Yes! May she make billions! She deserves it! ❤
It's basic American School English. We all sound like that. It's sort of non-accented and a little over-anunciated.
I like it, @@genevarockeman9721 !
These two have fabulous chemistry!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I came here to see if I was the only one who noticed. They totally need to go on at least one date. ❤
The fleeeeerting! Palpable chemistry 😂
They do! But -- not to contaminate the fairy tale -- Tom Power is like this with everyone he interviews. He's remarkable.
I thought the same, especially the male was very flirty.❤
@@fredricarabiname too! And I agree 😄
Laura, I lived in different countries too as my father was in the diplomatic service. When I got married (to a German, and will soon celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary), I too wanted to have a permanent base to live with my family (Berlin). I love your videos.
I love her! Her Italian dad is spot on reminds me of my Dad❤
I relate so much to her commandeering the interview and asking the interviewer questions as a very inquisitive person i just. Feel represented.
Laura Ramoso’s sketches are the best thing on UA-cam
Ach Lara!! 😂
My new favorite internet gal. 🤩
I became an instant fan of hers after watching "my German mother at the beach" clip. : )
As a daughter of a German mother…. Thank you 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤
I love seeing her just talk like herself. I‘m so used to her being the judgy german mum or the quirky tourist girl that its weirdly refreshing seeing her talk normally. Also loved the background story of her family. Ive been wondering how her parents met
She is a genius in comedy sketches... ❤
She's so articulate - you don't realise that from the tiktoks. I love that she's honed her craft!!
Love her characters. I am Italian on my mother side, her italian father character is spot on and always makes me think of my grand pa. I love it.
I love her impressions! I hope she does more of Italian Father.
Lots of chemistry between these two!! 😅😊😂
What a great interview and great chemistry between you two!
Laura is a true comedic genius ! I cant get enough!
I am german and my mother is exactly the same. Judgement all the time and hard and cold. I am a mother too, now. And I try hard every day to be not like this.
My brothers wife is columbian. She once said "I bet you had many silblings but you two are the only ones who survived a german family."😅
I don't know how she came up for me in UA-cam, but I'm SOOOOOO glad that it did because she's simply amazing! Brava!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I don't laugh easily at comedians but I LOVE Laura Ramoso and she literally makes me laugh out loud! She's great!
I just realized how much my german mom formed me. I hardly ever watch long videos anymore but for some reason I just watched a talk show. That is the most my german mom thing ever.
Also she is pretty much like I anticipated, I just have to mention the interviewer did an excellent job! Not only did he have fun he also really made her comfortable and a that is a sign you are nailing it as a host ;) don’t send people out if they compliment you, your doing great
What rich and challenging childhood experiences you must have had, I can relate. I love Germans for their directness.
I had a German mum and you’ve captured her completely.
I keep watching this interview because i love watching Laura crack Tom up, it makes me laugh!
Wonderful interview!
Also, can we talk about Laura Ramos' language skills? Clearly speaks Italian, haven't seen a sketch with her speaking German but the mom character's accent and Germanisms are so good, I wouldn't be surprised if she did (native German here). Her English is excellent despite not having grown up in an English-speaking country at all and who knows what she picked up in all those countries she's lived in. Kudos! I know people who've lived in another country for 20 years and could never shed their thick accents.
it likely runs in the family, just based on her mother teaching herself polish while living there.
a love of languages, and a natural affinity for learning them, runs in my family from my mothers side as well (:
I'm an American Mom with a German daughter and I know these Moms!! It's so great! Thank you!
Laura would be great as an Interviewer and I think a sketch as a German mum interviewer would be hilarious, like Between two Ferns.
👏
She is naturally funny and very real ❤!!
I saw Laura's show last night in LA--Get tickets to one of her shows if you can. She delivers! She is an amazing talent.
Grew up with a German Grandma. So spot on funny! 😂Makes me miss her!
Thank you!!! I think it was cathartic for my friend with a German mother who went through ' the war'.
Thank you and I appreciate the joy you made me feel for my late German mother in law, whom we miss so much. ❤ The humour is healing 😊
Italian Dad!!!! ❤❤❤ 😃Same stuff here 😅 the night before I fly anywhere, I'm up doing whatever...cooking, rearranging the freezers contents, you name it.
How lovely she is. Sending love from mountain Maryland.
I love it that their conversation is so easy and has so much give and take ❤
Grew up in the States, but a friend's mom was German. Your impression is spot-on, at least based on my experience.
I love her work. Maybe because I grew up in Canada with a German/Danish grandma. And I am a Canadian mother-in-law. You had me laughing hysterically!
I have a German step mom, father, and grandparents, and Laura is spot on. Hilarious comedic timing. Tom is a perfect interviewer.
PS would love to see French room mate. 😉
They have amazing chemistry! She is so smart and funny. He is a great interviewer and conversationalist
She’s really impressive and must’ve worked very hard to make it look so effortless. I love her characters and could easily watch for hours if I didn’t have work to do!
I love her comedy sketches. She's hilarious.
Such a well done interview, love the atmosphere, what a beautiful conversation! ❤👌👌👌
Would love to see more of this charming, talented lady in movies or TV. Saw her shorts on UA-cam, went to her channel page, and watched them all. Good for her. The pompous know-it-alls at Julliard certainly missed out on an amazing talent.
I love Laura's parents. And the fact that the Italian dad speaks in Italian so often is a parody in itself😂 love you Laura make many stuff
She's fabulous. Her German mother sketches are my absolute fav, having lived in Germany for a while myself. Spot on.
Literally obsessed with her 🥰🥰
I just love her comedy. All the "girl who just came back from.." are so funny and so true!
LOVE Italian Dad! You have the mannerisms down pat! 😂😂😂
She is incredibly funny! The banter between them was so natural. Love ya Tom.
I love her mom! My mom is German as well . OMG I thought my mom was the only one-ach shtefanie…! Thank you!
Comedy that good is definitely the result of lots of hard work. Laura is my hero.
Tom Power is a great interviewer. Never seen his show before. A new fan! Looove Laura Ramoso ❤
Second City is the bomb. Chicago girl here, love your videos. Italian Father and German Mother too! Boy can I relate . Just discovered you, big fan.
Feli from Germany has just featured Laura as one of her favourites!
I love Laura she is hilarious her theatre shows are on my bucket list as I am old and know what I like.
This was so funny! I've never seen so much banter between Tom and a guest before!! LOVED IT!!
Excellent interview thank you. This lady is so talented ❤
I love this girl, she´s so funny. I cannot relate at all with the German mom but she still makes me crack. I am italian descendant , so I totally relate to de dad´s sketches
The first impersonation I stumbled upon was her after spending time in Portugal and I laughed so hard 😂
Her 'game night' video is spot on ... all my German relatives laughed because my German uncle always insisted that Trivial Pursuit is wrong when he got the answer wrong (a couple of times he also insisted that the internet was wrong). Plus there is always the classic German game Mensch Arger Dich Nicht (translation: People don't get angry).
I don't have a German Mom, nor an Italian Dad. But I love Laura's skits!
Fantastic!
I love her German mom impression! The judgment in each comment makes me lmao
That was fun, Laura will go far. I could imagine her someday being a regular on Saturday Night Live.
She's absolutely a master craftsman, I wish her all the best
