We've been waiting ages to play Baldur's Gate 3, and it's finally here. He originally got me into the Divinity series of games, but Baldur's Gate scratches the same turn-based role-playing itch I get. We've been requested to make a Baldur's Gate Date Night on the early access version for what feels like years now, but we wanted to wait for the full release. We knew when it fully released we were going to go hard. It's safe to say that it was worth the wait, and we're so excited to share our Baldur's Gate 3 Date Night with all of you.

For anyone scrolling the comments to check for a spoiler warning, the video only shows gameplay from act 1 so far as I can tell, and most clips have very little in terms of context given to the story as a whole. Safe to watch and excellent quality as always :D

Act3 is horrible and the undeniable truth, that they made what they already had (D:OS 3) into BG 3, once they got the license. It's a game playing pretend.

The most important thing BG3 gets right in emulating the D&D experience, is that when you ask the game "Can I do this ridiculous solution to a problem in front of me," the game almost always answers with "Well... you can TRY."
The defeat in the voice when you're customizing the guardian is absolutely palpable

To be fair, in regards to the bad dice rolls, he has like no bonuses or spells to give him the edge on any of his rolls. Meanwhile Taryn is playing a bard who excels at checks due to their spells and class features.

@@tydendurler9574 If you've played BG3 you can see the bonuses to rolls a person gets at the bottom of the screen and if they can use a spell or some sort of boost from an item or a class ability. In the video whenever he was rolling for things that we saw, not a single time did he have a high bonus to any stat related to the skill or check he was using nor was he using a spell or item that gave him advantage or a numerical boost to the roll. Meanwhile Taryn had things like friends which gives advantage on charisma checks, enhance ability which gives you advantage on checks based on the attribute you choose with it, high bonuses to these skills due to being proficient in them and having naturally high ability scores related to those stats, and to top it off Jack of All Trades, an ability bards get that adds half of their proficiency modifier to rolls. That's what I mean by "like". She might not have used enhanced ability, it's been a few days since I watched the video, but the point remains on the other things.
fun fact: that spider cave u were in with the queen, if you jump over the edge with feather fall, u end up in the under dark so i love the idea its now raining spiders in the underdark from you yeeting spiders down there lol

Been waiting for this video. Baldur's gate 3 is amazing. II haven't loved a game this much since I was a kid playing games like Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, Neverwinter Nights 1 & 2, Elder Scrolls Morrowind & Oblivion, etc... Love seeing people react to it.
It is a far cry from the gems you mentioned and highly overrated.

I thought booting monsters off of cliffs was all fun and games until I had a big boss boot half my party to their deaths in one hit.
Can't wait to get this game so I can quit the game after the tutorial area, come back a month later, forget what I was doing, and replay the tutorial again in repeat for years on end.

Those ogres are fun if you get the horn that summons them through convincing them to give it. If they die one of them has a head piece that makes your INT 17. You can just use them in fights until they eventually die

Oh yeah you def wanna quicksave for those encounters that can go way south way fast. Just beat the game with 1600 total quicksaves.

for me the best change is that jump is not a huntsman spell anymore
If you don't get shadowheart immediately as a companion, your symptoms+meeting a devil happens much sooner. Like within 4 long rests (I think it's closer to 2-3) while my two playthroughs that had shadowheart as my first companion I didn't get the symptoms cutscene until later. I don't know the specific timeframe from my 350+ hours of gameplay, but I was very shocked by the devil appearing outside the Emerald Grove. At this point I haven't even reached Ethel or the Goblin Camp.
I don't think this man should ever go gambling.
The challenge of the combat is balanced around a party of 4, because that's how challenge ratings in D&D 5e are calculated. A CR 1 monster should be a moderate challenge for a party of 4 level 1 adventurers.

The thing with the long rests is that the idea usually is about 6 combat encounters between long rests. I believe on Tactican difficulty the resources to rest are a lot less, so you can run out of long rests if you overuse them. But yeah, the game clearly aint balanced around long resting after only 1 or 2 encounters.
you can long rest without using food. You only get half of everything but it's a huge help since a lot of encounters don't require everything you have to beat them. If you have a bard in your team you can use his class feature to short rest so everyone is at full health. It's pretty useful and a good alternative to using 80 camp supplies every time. Never needed to abuse it past the first 1 or 2 hours though because i send all my food to camp and i take all the food i see
one thing i have learned from playing d 20 modern is you sometimes have to a take a risk and if your character dies well you can just make another one

In the last few months I was given Baldurs Gate I and II. And then the pc refused to turn on. I'll fix it eventually but in the meantime I guess I'm watching you two play III. There's worse things in the world. My best mate doesn't agree as we're half way through another co-op playthrough of Total War: Shogun 2. Such is life. ❤😊❤😊
