The only reason people are so skeptical to say is due to work culture not wanting employees to know how much their coworkers are making compared to them. Literally feeding businesses. Makes it easier to underpay employees and overpay those that don’t deserve it.
Go back to Reddit what is this brain dead reasoning. It’s personal information , why would someone share that. Also dude interviewing them isn’t their co worker and I highly doubt their co workers would see this.
I feel like the more common reason would be cuz their salary is part of their private information. Maybe due to insecurity or just the fact that it’s rlly not anyone else’s business
@@blakesking6615 You sound exactly like someone who works their ass off and kisses up to your job. “Go back to reddit” is such a funny insult too because i don’t use it. Get some certificates brother, make yourself a higher value employee and fatten that resume in anyway possible. What industry do you have 9 years of experience in? Maybe you can pivot and utilize that experience in a higher paying field, chances of reaching a larger salary increase exponentially when you goto a different job as opposed to growing within a company! You got this, I believe in you.
I can sort of understand where this is coming from but it really isint our place to know how much they make, sometimes people just want to keep it private.
Yeah but you're also not paying 4500 US dollars a month for an apartment in NY. These people's salaries are mostly relative to where they live. Their 90k dollar annual salary in NY is lower middle class....so essentially they're poor

Average is 120,000...damn this is a blow to a single Mom of 3 making under 20,000. But I'm so blessed to have my job. And always look to make more every year
Really clear to see the stigma of "dont share how much you make with your coworkers" really permeates our world, hence the reason the law was created. Makes it easier for people to compare what they are making compared to the bosses who sit on their asses
While spending about 80k on a pretty basic modern standard of living… so in reality you’re earning far less than 20-25% as much after you take out living costs.
Most contents on social media makes us feel left behind tbh, dont feel bad about what you make dude, these contents will make people like us feel legitimately depressed because the more we watch these videos the more we start comparing ourselves to them unconsciously, man i uninstalled fb for that reason and now its all over youtube as well There is a reason behind the common courtesy of not sharing our income with one another because other people who might not be as blessed might start questioning their own worth in this life, and finally, most of them are liars, these people know they're being filmed and they also know high income=respect & authority so they automatically add 10k to 30k to their income to show off "pEoPlE wHo kNoW mE aRe gOnNa wAtCh tHiS aNd wiLL aUto rEsPecT mE" Trust me as long as you have food on your table and minimal debts that you can pay off and a roof over your head you're already rich enough, at the ens of the day we're all gonna die and leave whatever money we had behind hell, even our own underwears will be left behind

There is a reason behind the common courtesy of not sharing our income with one another because other people who might not be as blessed might start questioning their own worth in this life, and finally, most of them are liars, these people know they're being filmed and they also know high income=respect & authority so they automatically add 10k to 30k to their income to show off "pEoPlE wHo kNoW mE aRe gOnNa wAtCh tHiS aNd wiLL aUto rEsPecT mE"

@@BrianRMeo times have changed. My parents taught me the same thing. Now salary transparency is very important. Why hide you'd salary so companies/municipalities can get away with paying crap. I was making $52,000 a year as a firefighter/paramedic. I found out my friends were making anywhere from $70k to $115k at surrounding fire departments. We went to our union representative and next collective bargaining meet we demanded higher wages. I now make $89,592 before overtime, almost $100k with OT. I would have never known had we not been open about our salaries. I got a massive raise pretty much overnight. Might sound like BS to get over a $30,000 raise but we were willing to walk and it would have cost the city millions in fines for everyday they were in breach of contract.
@@abingham3747 Well if you have a CBA and someone knows your title they can find out what you male anyway, I'm happy you were able to negotiate a better salary. But only people within your circle would know that if you choose to disclose it to them, I wouldn't feel comfortable with a random guy walking up to me on the street posting it for the world to see, you never know, someone sees it and now they know you got money and I feel like that could make you a target. Also Paramedics should make more, I'm assuming your in NYC like me "that's just a guess" but it's always been stereotyped as a job with good benefits and bad pay, I'm happy your getting what you deserve.
@@BrianRMeo Thank you. I'm not in NYC. But usually people within circles talk, be it in IT, software development, firefighting, tech, even factory work. edit: Since a lot of people have told me; I know the cost of living is much higher. That's a pretty renominated thing about US in general as one of its flaws.
In America that’s barely enough to get by. Especially New York where everything is crazy expensive. For reference 40k in nyc means she is probably living in a small apartment with a few roommates, buys clothes about once a year and doesn’t do very much activities where she has to pay for a ticket or something. If she got injured and needed to go to the hospital she would probably be in debt. It’s not terrible she still would get by but it’s not great and definitely not rich.
