Hey friends! Hopefully this video can help someone. If you're a new yorker or an experienced transplant like me, please feel free to share any *constructive* advice you may have for others looking to move to the city 💘 Good luck everyone!
@@sirensong2302 hey!! You didn’t miss a video :) I honestly don’t have any neighborhoods in particular that I feel are the safest. There are ‘safer’ streets and more sketch areas in each neighborhood so I would google earth the building you’re looking at the check out the street that way if you can’t go in person :)
As a born & raised NY'er who will probably grow old here; my advice for anyone that decides to move here is to save as much money as you can and have a back-up plan. This is a fast-paced city and competition is everywhere in every industry. Come here with a logical sense on what YOU have to offer whether it be a content creator, administrative, teacher, your own boss, etc. Try to grow some thick skin. This city is not for the weak as any other big city area. There are nice NY'ers here, but at the end of the day; we all just trying to survive & make it here. There may be rejection; but don't lose hope. Times have certainly changed. As the saying goes; "if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere". Good luck to y'all
I grew up a bit north in Chappaqua. YES. My parents said for NYC: "plan to survive, get creative to thrive". Sometimes choosing to live away from the Manhattan/Brooklyn lifestyle affords someone their sanity and a better living condition. Some of my friends from high school who work or worked in the city use the NJT and MTA from far like Trenton and Peekskill, or Princeton for uni. One I know ferries in on the Seastreak and owns a nice home.
As a native New Yorker, I really enjoy your videos. I especially like your tips for supporting local businesses. Gentrification is an issue. It's nice that you appreciate the people who are trying to stay here.
"...and recognize your absence" that is so true. Someone - even a stranger - who looks for you and misses you when you don't pop up during their normal routine, is really important.
As a native NYer I say you're a New Yorker. What makes New York "New York" is that it is filled with people who were drawn here and maybe didn't fit in where they came from. The immigrant, whether from another state or another country is what defines this city and gives it it's vitality.
Chelsea - I’m moving to nyc TODAY and while I’m getting ready to go to the airport I watched this video. This gave me such a reassurance I didn’t know I needed as I start this next chapter. Love your content so much, thank you for being you!!
Can you @carissaeconomos2803 please go help Chelsea put on her couch ends and couch end pillows 😅 have to watch her new apartment tour video to get that
From a Brooklyn born guy now 40 something. You’re a New Yorker. And that advice about having people who will notice your absence is gold. Love your vibe ❤
@tanishaw4233 I never knew people from all/other states were particular about branding someone as a native or a resident of their state (s). I thought it was a Texas thing, as we are also very particular about who we allow to call themselves Texans, native or otherwise. 😅🤣😂👌
Chelsea I just want to say you are such a hard worker!! I feel like most youtubers would just sit in one spot in their bedroom to talk through this topic (no shame in that!) but the fact that you changed up your location a million times to make this vid way higher quality and more engaging/dynamic...we don't deserve you! you better be getting some good partnership deals haha
As a NYer I appreciate the thoughtfulness of this video. The focus on politics, community, and city funding that impacts so many who need it. Many influencers move to New York and show a very insular “aesthetic” view of the city. Many times with this gentrification they don’t even acknowledge the community around them. Thank you for getting so involved and using your platform to get others involved.
Chelsea, I've been watching you off and on for a few months now and even though I'm an 80 year old female, not planning on moving to New York City (or anywhere else, for that matter) I couldn't stop watching this particular episode. I truly think it will help people to decide on whether a move there is right for them or not because you've really given them so much information! Anyway, I'm not sure if I've ever commented before, but I decided I'd give you my two cents tonight. Good work! Keep warm, lady!
transplant of almost 12 years here. i've loved it here for the most part even though it has not been easy sometimes. new york is tough and it can feel as if it's chewing you up but once you find your rhythm it can be fun. this city moves fast, you have to catch up. i recommend going away every so often just to reboot. chelsea, i think your assessment of it was very objective. at the end everything is a trial in life and if you don't like it, you can always move on to the next city, country, or continent.
It's exactly the same in London. Speaking as a self-employed man (trade) who moved to the capital from the countryside seven years ago the grind can be terrifying, but convince me you felt more alive back home when the going got tough.
I don't think you were negative at all. You're much more level headed than many youtubers that only talk about migrants and rats/trash on the streets. 😅I've visited NYC several times, but one day I hope to move to a big city for a year simply to experience a different life than I've known in the suburbs. Rooting for NYC to trend in the right direction so it can be part of my list of cities to consider when the time comes.
Love your humor and honesty! Lived there 7 years when I feel like the city was more vibrant and less gentrified. More mom and pop’s, more Wild West--ish. Now I feel like it’s just another big global city--and I’ve lived on 4 continents, great cities, etc. I miss the soul of NYC🥲
I always look forward to these types of videos but considering this how I found your channel in the first place, I am very pumped to see the 2024 update. It has been my dream for over two decades to move to NYC and as you mentioned, so many people don't understand why I want to live there. I've stopped trying to tell them why or sell them on the city because it is not for everyone. There is so much magic and energy there that is intoxicating. So much to do. So much to see. I just want to go and say I tried. If I fail, I tried. Thank you for these videos and all your content. Here's to goals, dreams, and NYC.
I have to reply and say "Keep dreaming & you can make it happen!" ❤ I was you & I did & so can you!! I recommend finding a temporary living situation to get here rather than finding your own place from afar. A roomate, a sublet, short-term rental, there are lots of ways. Good luck, future NYC resident!
I visited New York for 5 days before the pandemic. One thing I learned is keep it moving. New Yorkers have places to go and things to do. Don't get in their way. One place I fell in love with was the Tenement Museum on Orchard Street. I went back for a second visit. I wanted to do one of their walking tours as well but ran out of time. It's fascinating to see the apartments furnished as they had been in the latter 1800's and early 1900's, and to hear the immigrant stories of ordinary families. It also explains some things about the set up of current NYC appartments in older buildings. If you get a chance Chelsea, you should check it out. I want to go back.
YES SUPPORT YOUR PUBLIC LIBRARIES. Even if you can afford to buy what you would check out, you already pay taxes for these items. Utilize them! Take the free classes! Attend the concerts! The library is the last pure place where people can just exist without the requirement of spending money.
THIS IS HOW YOU INFORM!!! 💯 I absolutely love how you’re giving transplants real information about where they are moving to. I’m in PA not far from NYC. And we’re effected by what happens there with population growth because people leave the city and move here and just travel for work. So we’re having to keep up with what’s happening there, Jersey city etc. An it’s sad to watch the effects rolling down while so many are still trying to move their without intentions on actually even participating in the city outside of saying “ I moved to NY “. Doing the good work 🎉
Really love this new direction of speaking at different locations around the city. Also have to say how much I love and appreciate the way you use your platform to talk about the importance of supporting marginalized communities and businesses, undoing some negative stereotypes about NYC, and encouraging ppl to be good humans. Love your content!
Love, love, love this video, Chelsea! Thanks for sharing. 🖤 Several people asked us why we moved to NYC when we work from home full-time. They were like, "You could have moved anywhere else!" -- but NYC feels home to me/us. It's not an easy place to live in, but it has encouraged us to be more grateful... To enjoy the little things... To build our own chosen family who will understand the struggles and will help you along the way (in their own special way).
I have always been fascinated by NYC. Would love to live there but being in my 60's on a fixed income, that will never happen. So I will get my NYC fix by watching your channel. As someone else commented I love when you get out and about. Would love to see more of the inside of a bodega. The couple glimpses in this video I paused to get a closer look. Especially the prices on the menu board. You make videos much differently than most UA-camrs. So much more authentic. Keep up the great job you are doing.
Love your comment as I can completely relate... As an "older" viewer who hasn't lost my sense of "Could I or couldn't I?" do it, (live in NYC) -and honestly, I still feel like a 20 or 30-something, holding on to that dream, lol. I've noticed there's a large mature female contingency here in Chelsea's Comments. I sense a common denominator amongst a lot of us, echoing your sentiment. I whimsically entertain the idea of forming a group of us who decide to combine our forces. We find a place to share the rent and provide a mutual support system, all while each living out our long held dreams of living in one of the greatest cities in the world! Lol! What an idea, huh?! 😅🤔🤭 And oh!! I was looking for the cat Chelsea talked about finding in her local Bodega a while back! Diamond? Loved that story...
I just found your videos and love watching ❤because I’ve always wanted to move to New York City when I was young, but didn’t have enough guts to do it! So yes, sign me up for the Senior apartment sharing. Love the idea!
Love that you plugged the library and emphasized voting! I live in Philly and won't be moving to NYC (because Philly feels like my home now) but libraries are so important to support and offer so much to residents!
That hurts my heart to hear about the library budget cuts. I grew up loving going to the library with my grandma. I hope someday that can be reversed. If the NY public library has the Libby system, where you check out books online, that might be one reason for the cuts. But libraries, as you said, offer so much more. Great video.
There's a bunch of cuts to pay for ILLEGALS!! Oh,it's gonna get much worse. Buckle up ! God bless you Chelsea. I'm not here to offend or troll. I like you and your channel I care. ❤
Another great place to volunteer are our local parks. There's nothing like hard labor to help you quickly bond with people😅. But yeah, I love NYC. The return in investment, when you're intentional (and stubborn😅) it can be an amazing experience. I can honestly see myself growing old here as there's a thriving senior community. But we'll see when the future holds.
I’ve been watching your channel for about a year now, off and on but your recent videos have found a place in my routine and I couldn’t be happier. Keep up the great content and keep being you!
Chelsea!! You being realistic about New York got me wanting to move more. I lived in other bigger cities and like you mention moving to New York you have a dream to fulfill or finding a community or know your WHY. Honestly I prefer that it’s different. I love this video! ❤
I sure wish I’d had access to vids like this when I moved to New York a thousand years ago (more accurately, it was 1998). It’s amazing to see how much the city has changed and how much she has stayed the same. It’s also very wild to deeply love a city that continuously kicks your ass, but I sure did! 🥰
I’m from Canada and have always dreamed about NYC, I hope to someday move there… I will after I get monetized here in UA-cam! I’ll be in NYC within the next few years!
I've lived in NYC for all my life. One thing is to just aways be respectful, and it's okay to be reserved. No matter where you go, if you're chill with people, then people will be chill with you.
Me and my husband have been seriously considering a future move to NYC from Northern California since the beginning of this year. There’s a lot to consider! Thanks for this Chelsea! ❤
I lived in New York for 5 years. I think the excitement of it is enough to make you forget how much more you're going to value the day-to-day conveniences: how am I gonna get laundry done? if I run out of something where am I going to go to get that? where can I pop in to get dinner for the night? Even more strain is added when the weather doesn't participate. What I would add: 1) take advantage of all the travel opportunities in NY like trains up to Canada or buses to Washington D.C.. For mental health reasons you're occasionally going to need to see something other than a skyscraper. 2) have a good subway near you. If you want to live in Brooklyn but that means living by an L train, if you're in Williamsburg not a problem but if you're in Bushwick good luck. I lived in Gowanus near an R train and had an express transfer only a stop from me and it was perfect. 3) you're going to have to sacrifice not having an A/C or buy a unit or a ceiling fan. 4) there will be trash cans outside your apartment building everyday and they smell awful during the summer 5) look into laundry drop off 6) join netowkring groups, especially for your industry. There are tons of young professional events in the city and, similar to volunteering, it's a great way to meet people. 7) I feel like there is a lot of entertainment to be found for free or not so expensive. I was at The MET every weekend and it's pay what you want for residents. I loved sitting in parks and just people watching as well. 8) last - that is very true about the dating scene. I would say people I met in person first and dated lasted longer than people I met on apps. I was in my early to mid 20s and we were all fresh to NY so idk if that has anything to do with it but now that I live in a smaller city in my late 20s so many people are coupled up or married now while my NY friends are still single. I don't think love is a priority in NYC.
Thank you so much! My boyfriend and I want to move to NYC from California, where rents are the same fyi, and the amount of negative comments we get can get super discouraging but we know in our hearts we want to make the move! This perspective is just what I needed to hear ❤
I ordered coffee at the beginning of the holiday season. Big box delivered (had photo). Went out to get it off my porch is was gone. I went onto the Town Facebook page and wrote about my experience. I guess I shamed the thief into returning it because 2 days later it was back on my porch. :)
I ❤ NYC with all my heart and your vids really bring that ‘living in moment’ vibe that I really miss about my 20s/early 30s. Like catching up with one of the constellation of friends I had in old North Brooklyn, catching a free outing or house party happening. Running McCarren track early. Pre-Gaming at Rosemary’s Greenpoint Tavern. It’s that perfect treasure trove of memories that I can look back on and say, aww. It’s been a few chapters back, but NYC has really, really cool things no matter which era you jump in on. Enjoy.
New York should install platform edge doors like we have on the jubilee tube line in London! They’re pretty and make everything so much safer in rush hour. As always, an excellent video Chelsea!! You are the best ❤
Left NYC 19 years ago and every time I see videos or hear about housing, issues and weather, etc. I am so glad I did. I went back 2 years ago for 4 days just to see the changes and also with a friend that never been. So it was more like a tourist experience and took her to all the famous known NYC sites she wanted.
I'm an almost 40 Australian living in Perth, West Australia. Current life sitch probably dictates that I won't be moving to NYC, but damn this video was great. It made my younger self want to do it for sure. Thanks Chelsea, keep the vlogs coming 🤙🏾
Anybody else feels like living in New York City is like living in the centre of the world? I have always lived in a small town in Central Europe and I love the nature and everything being familiar but I’m also an extrovert and I just love the frenzy and fast pacedness that the New Yorkers live with. Can’t wait to pursue my dream and move there in a few years. 💗
Very wise advice Chelsea. Great advice re having a nest egg to help you start and find your place. Everyone needs a community to help them feel secure. Love this update ❤❤
Very sweet of you to take the time to share your wisdom and experience with others. I have visited New York a couple of times just as a tourist. I fantasize about coming for one year, just so I can experience all four seasons. I love watching your videos! Love from Texas ❤
I moved to NYC when I was 23 in 2012, and I was so broke and so clueless but it was truly the most fun time in my life. I loved getting to re-live it through your video and hearing what the experience might be like for someone now
clesea thank you i was thinkign of finally moving to nyc . i wanted to move there about29 yrs ago but my parents have kept me form doing so. now your video change me. i just called my mother and said mother ive had enough im moving out this week. and i did/! yay me. sop i am apt hunting now in harlem . ive never been on my own and i figure its now or never i should have done this 30 yrs ago in my late 20's anyway im still young . you really helped me with this videos . bless you chlesea and ideas on new newyorkers to meet date people
Great spot on info.! We have 2 daughters living there: a 35 yr old in Marble Hill, Bronx and a 40 yr. old married with a 6 yr. old son in Ridgewood, Queens… we LOVE going to NYC for visits from the Albany/ Saratoga area! 👍🏼🙌🏼🥰
Lived in NYC for 6 yrs. Left during 2020 but I’m moving back again this year! As a young 30 something I definitely don’t feel like I’m the same 22yr old who first moved. I appreciate the vid to see what it’s like now.
I love this video! Even though I have only visited the city a few times, I always found it an inspiring place. My parents are immigrants and have worked in the city at one point, so I feel this admiration for NYC because it has historically been a place for immigrants to thrive! Love from New Jersey lol ❤❤
Chelsea, it's so funny that your advice is exactly what advice I gave back in 2005-2008 when I lived there. Hard but fantastic and you need a tough skin to find a good apartment. Very thorough and thoughtful review. My dating experiences were hilariously bad and my favourite bar was Brandy's piano bar where you sing along. I laughed so hard in that place, it was brilliant fun. Most of the museums were free back then so I went all the time and I even treated myself to Opera at the Met. Good times. I transferred with work and was grateful I had work friends to start with that became great friends. I missed my family and best friends but regret nothing about my NYC adventure. 🍎❤
Hi! Just wanted to also throw out there that for native New Yorkers the Met and the Natural History Museum are technically free to enter (tho they ask for any donation you can give). And this applies to UPSTATE NY residents too! Upstate residents can also get a NY public library card for Libby and when we visit. I’m a New Yorker and I would happily live at the Met given the opportunity.
As someone from NC, My partner and I have always wanted to move to another city. NYC is a city we want to move to for a year or two but we’re definitely scared because NYC is competitive, expensive and fast paced. Hopefully we make that dream come true 🤞🏻 😭
❤❤❤ Thank you!!! I’m here now for 5 weeks rented an apt to see if I can possibly handle it. I am older and would move here to work my day job & teach part time, even if only for a few years. I’ve wanted this my entire life!
Such a well-researched and genuine video, Chelsea!!! Love how far-reaching your advice is - from tolls to dating haha. From someone who's been in NYC since 9 years old, I still can't get enough of this city's energy and sense of adventure around every corner. There's nowhere else like it. My two cents to new people: stay vigilant. I don't feel in danger here, but I am cautious about not leaving my purse on the back of my chair at a sidewalk cafe, or getting lost in my phone/book on the subway with no regard to what's going on around me. You just never know who's gonna get on your train car next. Hard agree with the last point: community is everything :)
The confidence you have of filming in public.. you go girl!!! Thank you for this video❤️ I’m thinking about moving to New York and this video was super helpful. I didn’t think this video was negative I just think it was realistic.
Great job New Yorker. Your comments were very fair and very realistic. I'm glad you still have a passion for what New York can show you/teach you. I how you can talk more about things Not in Manhattan.
I love that you mentioned lottery apartments! I was able to get one in Manhattan and the entire process from application to acceptance took exactly a year. Best bang for the buck!
Great NYC adulting video Chelsea! Kudos for mentioning public libraries and voting. So important!! I moved from the West Coast to Baltimore and I love where I live. Cities are awesome - for so many reasons.
im not based in the us nor will i ever move there but here I am watching this video bc im so nosey about the rental market in the us. i love your chatty videos, you present very well! i always put your videos on in the background when im wfh/doing chores/having my meals. have you ever thought of starting a podcast? ❤
I have been saving to move to NYC for the past decade. I thought it was finally going top happen this year but a surprise hernia delayed my plans. It's my dream and it's always felt like where I want to make my home when I visit to investigate areas. I've been watching your videos for about a year now and I've written down so much knowledge from you! Thank you for the work you put into this channel.
To anyone who takes the leap to move to a new city: I wish you the very best! I hope your dreams come true, you find fulfillment, joy, friendship, community! ♡ May your future be wonderful!
I think you did a good job. I think people feel, like the city is what you see in Friends. My husband moved there in 1991from Wisconsin (b4 internet was a thing]. Boy was he in for an eye opener. He came with very little money and had to rent a room in a house with no kitchen He quickly realized he had to find a job asap. He can to pursue music. Very naive. You did a good job covering the realities of living in a big city
Hello! We have the new open subway wagons in Montreal since few years and… THEY ARE GREAT! So much more air, space, more luminous too! You’ll see. With use, you’ll love them. 😉
Excellent video ! I'm not even moving to NYC but it was super interesting and very true of living or moving in general to unknown places. Find your community is the keystone to finding your home and family away from home. For anyone making a big change this year, go for it, you got this !! :)
I’m a New Yorker and I still watched this video! I think you did a wonderful job Chelsea!! ❤ You’re a New Yorker in my eyes 😄 Well said. Side note, the MTA is complete trash and has got pretty dangerous in my opinion. But I take it everyday. Just have to be aware, careful and move away if you ever feel uncomfortable!! Love ya Chelsea! 🙃
Hi Chelsea…. Really interesting video…. I live in London and the things you talked about are exactly the same here…. I came to New York a few years ago and loved the experience. See ya soon xx❤
Thank you for this video, Chelsea. I especially appreciate your inclusion of gentrification. I’m not planning a move to NYC but I do enjoy your content. 😊
Thanks for this video Chelsea !! I am a french recent graduate looking for her first job in nyc (where i recently spent four months) and i can't wait to move here and meet people
I was born and live just outside of NYC in NJ, I've lived other cities but never took the plunge of living fully in NYC. I'm thinking about moving finally because NJ suburbia is very isolating for me. However I'm just super worried about the price of housing and getting stuck there in the future it seems so overwhelming to find the right spot and or roommate. Thanks for the thoughtful video!
When I was in Harlem, my amazon delivery of running shoes didn't turn up. Later that week I saw the homeless guy downstairs wearing my shoes. I reordered the shoes and told him I had a package coming that I needed and asked him to look out for it. Got the package lol. He checked in with me, all proud that he didn't steal it. Lol.
That was an excellent point to seek out local coffee shops etc. It is not by accident that large franchises choose locations, where there are many "mom-and-pop" shops. Although I am in the UK we saw this during the eighties with video rental stores. The large chains had actively set up right next door to local independents. Basically to force independents out with lower prices by just pennies. Then the prices went up. Where I live I actively try to support local stores or even local charity shops (I believe you call them thrift stores over there) rather than the big national ones. Great video!!!
Hoping to move to nyc in the next few years and your videos really give me the motivation! Would love to see some financial planning content for living in nyc (what you’d spend in a week, break down of your advice to save $10k). Love following along with your journey.
Do I want to move to NY? Nope, as I have been here already for 31 years. Do I come to watch this and hear peoples thoughts on NY and hear Chelsea? Yup. Apartment search is the most stressful here. If you do find a Dimond you then hold on for dear life. Even the housing lottery now can be insane on rents in my opinion even though it's suppose to be "affordable". I have seen the rent be 40%-55% of the income requirement. Love the tip on volunteering to find friends in the community. I have found, finding a community ever since I moved out of my childhood neighborhood incredibly difficult. I will admit, I don't miss the subway now that I use a commuter train to get into the city. 🤣
What a great resource this is for those who want to move to NYC... not me, I'm just here because I'm curious and a Chelsea fan! I think it's brave and wonderful to take the leap like you did, C, and figure out how to build your life in a challenging and exciting place. I have been to NYC a few times and I like to visit. These videos are helpful for those visiting as well, to get a sense of what to expect. Also, I'd never heard of Influencers in the Wild until you mentioned it so I had to check out some of those videos, lol. It's so weird when you see the filming from this looking-on viewpoint!
I applied for the housing lottery in 2019 and just moved into an apartment in 2024. It is a very long process but so worth it! The earlier you can get on the list for a building, the better!
Hey friends! Hopefully this video can help someone. If you're a new yorker or an experienced transplant like me, please feel free to share any *constructive* advice you may have for others looking to move to the city 💘 Good luck everyone!
I agree with you in thinking the people who make changes don't ride the subways. This also includes schools .
Hi @ChelseaCallahan !
Sorry if I missed the video, but have you made one about the safest neighborhoods? Thank you!
Racquel ☺
@@sirensong2302 hey!! You didn’t miss a video :) I honestly don’t have any neighborhoods in particular that I feel are the safest. There are ‘safer’ streets and more sketch areas in each neighborhood so I would google earth the building you’re looking at the check out the street that way if you can’t go in person :)
(Central) Harlem neighborhood in Upper Manhattan, New York City.
You should make a video asking people on the streets questions...
Do I want to move to New York? No. But I’m here to see Chelsea.

Totally agree with this post. I am a transplant from Chicago and NYC was tough…but I am blessed for the experience. I love my second home!
@Miishii_59 Good advice. I'm currently moving back to NYC. I miss it but I know it won't be all rosy but there's something special about it.

Many influencers move to New York and show a very insular “aesthetic” view of the city. Many times with this gentrification they don’t even acknowledge the community around them.
Thank you for getting so involved and using your platform to get others involved.
So proud of you filming in public 🥳
thank you!!!!! haha
I thought the same thing!
Nice to meet you!
transplant of almost 12 years here. i've loved it here for the most part even though it has not been easy sometimes. new york is tough and it can feel as if it's chewing you up but once you find your rhythm it can be fun. this city moves fast, you have to catch up. i recommend going away every so often just to reboot. chelsea, i think your assessment of it was very objective. at the end everything is a trial in life and if you don't like it, you can always move on to the next city, country, or continent.
It's exactly the same in London. Speaking as a self-employed man (trade) who moved to the capital from the countryside seven years ago the grind can be terrifying, but convince me you felt more alive back home when the going got tough.
I moved out of London 7 years ago, to the countryside. I miss it so, so much 😢
I don't think you were negative at all. You're much more level headed than many youtubers that only talk about migrants and rats/trash on the streets. 😅I've visited NYC several times, but one day I hope to move to a big city for a year simply to experience a different life than I've known in the suburbs. Rooting for NYC to trend in the right direction so it can be part of my list of cities to consider when the time comes.
the migrants do suck tho.
Cough cough Cash Jordan cough cough. It’s like watching a fox news anchor
Love your humor and honesty! Lived there 7 years when I feel like the city was more vibrant and less gentrified. More mom and pop’s, more Wild West--ish. Now I feel like it’s just another big global city--and I’ve lived on 4 continents, great cities, etc. I miss the soul of NYC🥲
thank you for including support for small businesses as the city consistently goes through a gentrification process YOY

I loved that museum as well - took visitors there and it was a great LES vibe.😊
No I'm not moving to New York in 2024, No I do not plan to move to New York anytime, I just watch cause the content is awesome and Chelsea is cool!
Same
YES SUPPORT YOUR PUBLIC LIBRARIES. Even if you can afford to buy what you would check out, you already pay taxes for these items. Utilize them! Take the free classes! Attend the concerts! The library is the last pure place where people can just exist without the requirement of spending money.
I also love the energy of NYC and visit often. I know, though, that I’d never want to live there. Best of luck to those who do!
Agreed ❤
And oh!!
@@ceciliahughes740It sounds like a great storyline for a show or movie or something lol 😄
As a librarian (not in New York) I'm so happy you talked about going to the library!
As a New Yorker (Brooklyn) I will be moving back this Spring! The subway changes sound like how Japan’s subway is set up. Thanks Chelsea!
@@dwfindingzen8870 I think I read somewhere that the train car she mentioned was designed in Japan so makes perfect sense!
The governor and mayor along with the politicians are robbing ppl in front of their faces.. ppl will keep voting for the same stupidity though 🤷♂️
Im Canadian and New York is on my bucket list to visit.
I’ll be in NYC within the next few years!
as a native new yorker , this was definitely appreciated especially your point on gentrification & volunteer. Thank you!
I've lived in NYC for all my life. One thing is to just aways be respectful, and it's okay to be reserved. No matter where you go, if you're chill with people, then people will be chill with you.
Aw, the girl that waved to the vlog! HEY GIRL! 😂 6:56
Me and my husband have been seriously considering a future move to NYC from Northern California since the beginning of this year. There’s a lot to consider! Thanks for this Chelsea! ❤
I have watched all of your previous videos on this topic and I get closer every year to finally moving to NYC. I always find these to be so helpful.
What I would add:
1) take advantage of all the travel opportunities in NY like trains up to Canada or buses to Washington D.C..
4) there will be trash cans outside your apartment building everyday and they smell awful during the summer
5) look into laundry drop off
6) join netowkring groups, especially for your industry.
I visited once and I loved it ! I felt like my soul belonged there.. I couldn’t explain the feeling. I never felt unsafe. I can’t wait to go back.
The NYPL also gets you FREE access to a ton of stuff within the city like museums, ice skating, etc through culturepass
OOOH this is cool thanks for sharing!
Enjoy.
I’ve lived in NYC for 12 years. This was verrrry informative. Thank you.
New York should install platform edge doors like we have on the jubilee tube line in London! They’re pretty and make everything so much safer in rush hour.
As always, an excellent video Chelsea!! You are the best ❤
love this idea!
Me, not planning to move to NYC, ever. Still enjoy your vids 💕
Omg hi! 💝 thanks for watching 🥹
NYC is my fantasy city and this is my favorite NYC channel!
I loved getting to re-live it through your video and hearing what the experience might be like for someone now
clesea thank you i was thinkign of finally moving to nyc . i wanted to move there about29 yrs ago but my parents have kept me form doing so. now your video change me. i just called my mother and said mother ive had enough im moving out this week. and i did/! yay me. sop i am apt hunting now in harlem . ive never been on my own and i figure its now or never i should have done this 30 yrs ago in my late 20's anyway im still young . you really helped me with this videos . bless you chlesea and ideas on new newyorkers to meet date people
I’m English, I’ve never been to the US and I don’t have any plans to either BUT I still watch all of your videos 🥰
This was such a chill type of video. Really enjoyed how you filmed it!! :)
Thank you for making this realistic but optimistic and happy video about New York 🙏 I'm considering all the resources here :)
im not based in the us nor will i ever move there but here I am watching this video bc im so nosey about the rental market in the us. i love your chatty videos, you present very well! i always put your videos on in the background when im wfh/doing chores/having my meals. have you ever thought of starting a podcast?
May your future be wonderful!
You put so much of yourself into your videos. Thanks for the hard work! It’s a joy to watch ❤
Native New Yorker here. Thanks for this video. Learned some new things!
I don’t plan to move to New York, but still this video is so wholesome and interesting! I just love to get a sneak peek into New York life!
Chelsea thank you for your honest opinion about living and moving to NYC ! I can't wait for my next visit to the Big Apple!
Excellent video ! I'm not even moving to NYC but it was super interesting and very true of living or moving in general to unknown places. Find your community is the keystone to finding your home and family away from home. For anyone making a big change this year, go for it, you got this !! :)
Great advice, I would also add “have a yearly reevaluation of whether staying in the city still serves you or not”
I’m a New Yorker and I still watched this video! 🙃
I looooove how your videos have evolved even in just a couple of months!
Thank you so much, Chelsea! This video was incredibly helpful to me as a soon-to-be Brooklynite!
Tbf a lot of them are *not* charities (in the US anyway)
@@supernova622 Thanks. Some terms don't cross the pond well LOL.
Hoping to move to nyc in the next few years and your videos really give me the motivation! Would love to see some financial planning content for living in nyc (what you’d spend in a week, break down of your advice to save $10k). Love following along with your journey.
Chelsea ~ What an impressive presentation re the ins & outs of life in New York City 🗽 ~ you rock girl 🤩 !!!
The earlier you can get on the list for a building, the better!
thanks for sharing! that's amazing :)
Thanks Chelsea, good to know...👍
