Spent most of my 60 years in Texas and Oklahoma. There is a marked difference between these two states. Texas actually taxes people to death in order to provide pretty good roads, schools, public transportation. Texas is also what I'd call a "follow the rules" state. No casinos, gambling, marijuana, no no no! You can't do that! Cops everywhere. Game wardens everywhere. Oklahoma is actually a pleasant change. Oklahoma tends to be more about freedom. Fewer rules, fewer laws, fewer cops, fewer taxes. Live and let live. Also of note, every single county in Oklahoma voted RED in the past two presidential elections. Fiscally conservative leadership is preferred, but the people still want their freedoms. I can get on board with that.

Oklahoma has been red since 1964 the last time it voted blue and the only time since 1953. I looked it up just the other day. Texas dont do casinos but the first thing you see when crossing the red river into texas is a billboard for porn before you even see the state sign. Lol and a huge porn store less than a mile in before a rest stop. So I would not consider them all high in morals. Lol

I’m moving back to Tulsa, later this year, after six years in Seattle and dealing with never knowing if your driving route is going to be blocked by protesters or when an explosion from a homeless tent will happen. I’m happy to hear about the recently passed riot law in OK. Also, Tulsa was just way more fun and friendly.

Lol good luck, Tulsas still the shithole its always been. Yes it's been getting better but it's still a terrible place to live. I'm happy to be moving to Colorado this year. Its ironic that they've used the weed tax to make bank so they can finally start fixing up this hellhole. Where i live, back in 2017 there was an average of 2.2 robberies reported per hours. Personally, Had 2 cars stolen, 1 break in, and best of all 6 stick ups in just 2019 alone lol so I can attest to the fact that tulsas a crime ridden drug infested backwards ghetto dump. Gonna ignore the fact that I live only a mile from one of the most notorious blocks in the country featured alot in the 1st 48 show.

Ehhh I agree with a small portion of you opinions, but a lot of it is subjective. Tulsa city roads are not great in a lot of areas. The turnpikes are decently maintained for the most part and nice drives. I was born here in Tulsa, and have lived here for since I moved back from Denver 30 years ago, and I would not say its a "Dangerous" state. Like any other state, it has its pockets of sketchy / bad areas which you avoid. But those are few and far between. Saying Shawnee is the most dangerous city is hilarious. As far as health insurance and lack of such, a lot of us here, including me are Native American, and utilize the free tribal medical care. So that should be factored in. Education is specific to the school district you choose to live in. I went to Jenks, and they are one of the top schools in the state. Bixby & Owasso are good school as well. As I have gotten older, I have learned to love and appreciate Oklahoma. When I was younger I just wanted to leave...and now when I go back "home" to Denver, after a few days, I am ready to go back to OK. We have our challenges, but I believe we have a gem of a state.

You are pretty much spot on with your "statistics." I have been back and forth from Oklahoma (Norman) and Tampa Fl since 2005. I get to Florida and can only take about 3 years of the traffic, oppressive humidity of the eternal summers and the transitory population. Lately, the cost of living has shot through the roof here in FL; housing and food prices have nearly doubled under the current administrations (both local and national). Now golf and insurance rates are starting to follow suit. I'm considering going back to OK for good, OKC or maybe Tulsa this time. One thing people should consider when choosing a place to live is the people you meet and the relationships you build. Since people in FL are from "all over" they are more accepting of strangers and you can build some pretty good relationships really quickly. OK, on the other hand are very accepting of "outsiders" but a bit standoffish when it comes to building intimate friendships; you have to put the work in. You have to understand three things: First is family, Okies are big on family, Republican voting family. Coming in 2nd and 3rd are OU vs Texas and Bedlam (OU vs OSU). Once you "get it", you're in! (I know OU fans that will not even touch anything orange.)

Oklahoma is in the South, not the
Midwest. This is not my opinion, research the regions of the United States. Also, the culture, accents, red dirt, music, politics, and people align with the South way more than the Midwest. Hell, even the geographical location of Oklahoma is in the South. If you take out Oklahoma it literally just looks like a missing puzzle piece out of the region. And if you try to add Oklahoma to the Midwest region it just looks really out of place geographically, like it’s dangling down like some balls. The Midwest are states like Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska etc. You'll
never hear a Midwest accent or their culture in Oklahoma. Oklahoma is in the Southern United States.

I knew this video was bs when I saw the guy speaking.
Also, who cares about professional sports? Is that really a reason to not live somewhere.
The roads.Get your suspension corrected when necessary. The highways are fine and road work is work to improve the road so idk what your problem is.
Also the turnpikes tend to be nicer than the state highways on down.
Public transit. The cities are widespread and there’s little demand for lighrail or bus lines. Where there is demand orneed for bus lines they exist.
Health. People are often obese here but it is a personal choice.
Incarceration. Yes we do have the highest incarceration rate in the US and maybe the world. Don’t do criminal shit here.
Most dangerous city is SHAWNEE??? There is a lot of crime in the cities and there are criminals all over the state so know your business and keep up.
Yes there are many poor people in Oklahoma. But it’s not Afghanistan.
The weather is fine. The bad tornadoes typically occur farther west. If you can’t stand some shingles stripping off your roof from the storms then don’t come here.
Public schools in Tulsa aren’t good. Public schools in a lot of places aren’t good. In Oklahoma you can get a tax credit scholarship to send your kid to private or parochial school by directing a large percentage of the per-pupil state spending for your kid to that school. Which is pretty awesome you can send your kid to private school for almost free.
Oil and gas: Yeah we make lots of money off that. That’s the primary industry even more than beef and wheat and the rest. The commodities cycle is, well, cyclical and sometimes we’re in an economic downturn. Overall the state is better for the oil and gas industry as it provides a big part of our tax base and gainful employment (see poverty section of this vid).
In conclusion, don’t move to Oklahoma. We are fine without you and please don’t encourage people to move here.

Now the TRUTH on our turnpikes is that they are actually very well maintained. On tornadoes, 2019 was an outlier year. The number of actual funnels touching down has been steadily decreasing in both number and intensity. Most of them travel over vacant land. I've lived 40 North of OKC since 2001 and have yet to see one outside of watching on the news. The town I live in hasn't been hit by one within the city limits for over a 120 years. Had a small one hit the western outskirts about 10 years ago. A few farmhouses and outbuildings is all that were damaged, along with the Western Red Cedars which are a bane to our existence anyway. Far more concerning are the ice storms. This winter they came early while the leaves were still on the trees and all but destroyed the three 75 year old Pecan trees in my backyard as well as most of the rest of the hundreds in my neighborhood. Ripped my electric service off the house and bent my neighbor to the south's service pole, but somehow he and I both didn't lose power except for a few hours while the repair crews came through the neighborhood. The other 50 or so houses all lost theirs. The good news is there isn't much left of my trees to worry about next winter.

Oklahoma has nothing to help people get an education to start a business to have people have jobs. There is a church on every corner but no businesses. Governor Stitt is too busy being a voyeur in our bedrooms, bathrooms, and doctors' while going to Washington DC and trying to steal Native American lands for oil. Businesses are closing here while the rents rise to poverty rates from the corporate housing. Farmland is being bought up by big real estate corporations while food prices starve out people. There is no diversity to create. I have talk to many convention businesses and they will not come here because there is not enough business. Yea, Oklahoma is not a good place to live, grow a family, or retire here. Many Oklahomans who were born here do not want us here. I have met a few good people but not many. People are cold and have no service care. Only oil, warehousing, and Lawton for military is the only hope while farmers go under, and no one wants to be here because the children do not have a purpose in life. No, I do not like existing here, but the landlord takes all my money for a bug infested apartment. I am a lucky person. Seniors are becoming the new homeless in America. I could say a lot more, but this will turn into a book. I am 71 and came out here to retire. I am sorry I did.

In my experience people are really nosy here, negative mindset, victim mentality and a lot of people are racist all races here seem like they are all against each other and it’s a very religious state. lol Colorado is more laid back, the weather is better, people seem happier and a lot more job opportunities. Cushing ok is the oil capitol of the world. 90 billion barrels stored in this little town. I think we have way more pluses than minus. Gun rights for one.
Also since weed became legal by medical card our incarceration rate as of 2024 according too watch Oklahoma is the 4th highest in the nation in dec of 23. In 22 and 23 we did rise in percentage but much of that was nation wide as well because of cases put off from covid getting resolved. But I am happy to be in a state that puts criminals behind bars.

#1 reason... OKC is now BLUE af. #2 A house you could buy for $90,000 5 years ago is now twice that. #3 Utilities have doubled the last few years. #4 Gasoline has doubled since 2019. #5 Rent has gone from $750 for a 3 bedroom to $1200 since 2019. #6 The humidity is stifling. #7 Everything is flat, almost as flat as Kansas. #8 Too close to Texas which leads to illegal immigrant spillover. #9 Tornado's. #10 Gang bangers - they're everywhere, even in Edmond.

Edmond is a nice suburb of Okla. City, the crime rate is real low. The only thing on down side of Edmond it is expensive to live their the housing and taxes is high our daughter and son in law idea to live there but it was to expensive just for them to rent a nice. home so they went back to Weatherford Ok a very nice big college town myself just as nice as Edmond. Weatherford is about 55 miles West of Oklahoma City not far Weatherford has Wall Mart as many big businesses as Edmond has but I have to say housing expensive in Weatherford but it’s a very nice small country city.
Oklahoma has much beautiful land the Ozark mountains and Arbuckle Mountains many beautiful state parks and Oklahoma has the lock & dams on the navigational Arkansas River where many huge barges and big river boats come up from Gulf of Mexico Mississippi River.
Okla doesn’t not ever had protesters that riot and burn cop cars and buildings.
Oklahoma people are very friendly folks you will ever meet I know I was born in Enid Okla and raised there a great small city to live in today me and my wife lives at Canton Lake, Ok a beautiful lake we own a business there and Okla has largest amount of man made lakes the Corp of Engineers control plenty of boating and RV’s campgrounds.
Oklahoma a good safe state to live in you can’t go wrong.

I live in Norman Oklahoma and have lived here my whole life. I am an extreme optimist and I have nothing but bad memories from living here. Nothing but judgements and ghosting from everyone . The city leaders don't give a damn about anything. Seriously do not move here I speak from experience. I'm actually planning on permanently moving soon. If you want to be in Oklahoma be religious drink like crazy and gossip and have fake friends and you will fit right in. We do have public transportation here . The Oklahoma city transit goes everywhere and is cheaper then uber but the bus drivers are always cranky. There is a business at every corner. Do not even get me started on the weather. It could be 70 one day then the next 30 or 20 degrees. I was lucky and smart I found a place for 725 rent all bills paid. In Norman ok housing is like from 3k onward its pretty expensive to live here. You could live super cheap in okc but there are crimes down there like crazy shootings muggings and so on. There was a ef6 back in 1990 something or early 2000 something i hid in closet. But when you endure the weather long enough you get used to not being scared of tornadoes. And yeah teachers suck they are horrible at their jobs and very crabby. Yeah Take it from a guy who lives here and also studied this states past we have always been a shitty state. However if it makes you feel better .... Texas is way worse in all areas Oklahoma is bad.
