I laughed at “when they get out of the house, Oklahomans love to go to Bobo’s for chicken.” Yeah. When you’re drunk AF on the weekend after midnight because that’s the only time it’s open 😂😂
Bobo's is actually a food truck. You can only GO there on the weekends late at night near NE 23rd and MLK. The chicken wings are hickory smoked and then fried and served doused in honey.
I have lived in Oklahoma most of my 44 years and your video is mostly accurate. The meth problem isn't as bad as it was 10 years ago and I have never heard anyone say YEE YEE. The OU/OSU thing is true. Broken Bow area is really improving if you are an outdoorsman you can rent a really nice cabin down there some of them are big enough to sleep over 10 people and you can enjoy some fly fishing and go hiking or look for a Bigfoot. Lawton and Midwest City are definitely places to stay away from. In the last year I have been all over Southeast Oklahoma fishing around and the decline of the small towns is sad. A lot of them are so run down and I have noticed a lot of burned down houses in almost every small town I drove through. On the plus side the metro areas, OKC and Tulsa, just seem to be getting bigger and getting new businesses there are a lot of new houses being built. One thing about Oklahomans is that almost everyone here knows more about tornadoes and thunderstorm than most people, we even know all the meteorological terms and what they mean. We are well informed on severe weather. Check out the National Weather Museum in Norman.
@Mike Miller You seem to be confusing Mid-Del & Midwest City. Midwest City is a great place, mostly if you're east of Douglas and north of Reno (out of Mid-Del). Del City is horrible, except the far southeast corner. If you're in OKC, stay away from Del City & Capital hill.
@@captianpj your not wrong but you can tell if your on the wrong side of town in okc and del city of everything on the house including the AC unit has metal bars on them🤔 otherwise it’s not AS bad

Oklahoma is an incredible state which is also the reason why people are moving here by the thousands - a ton of land still undeveloped - cost of living very low - amazing family environment - and entertainment has come a long ways! Thanks you Oklahoma
There is the Washita (wash-it-tah) river, etc. I thought we pronounced those mountains Witch-it-ah (Ouchita). Yee Yee is a brand term made famous by country singer Granger Smith, who was born and lives in Texas. A lot of country fans say it but it’s not an Okie-ism. To the outside world, Texas and Oklahoma may seem to be the same, but if you live here, it’s kind of like two crosstown warring high schools: bitter rivals in sports, although both are excellent.

Last 5 yrs, tornado alley has been moving more east. Although TX, OK, KS, AR, MO get their fair share. TN, MS, AL, FL, SC have been getting just as many if not more. Also FL is the lightning capital of the US.
@@rylencason4420 Actually Kansas and Florida has the most lightning density. Texas and Kansas has the most lightning strikes from cloud to ground. Florida has the most frequency of lightening and has the most deaths per yr than any other state do to the atlantic breeze moving over solar heated land. This lifts the moist air masses that host thunderstorms. Therefore Florida has the most lightning and more deaths due to a thin state as where Texas has bigger land and less people per capita allowing for less deaths from lightning. Little Florida has more frequency than big TX. LA would be a close 2nd for deaths. FL actually has from Cape Canaveral to Tampa which is known as Lightning Alley.
The east Tennesseee, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and South Carolina get them in March. Just wait until May and Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas will get a lot of tornadoes. In 2019 (2 years ago) Oklahoma had a tornado outbreak with 149 tornadoes

I’m a native Texan, I passed through Oklahoma last year on my way to Kansas. What stuck me the most was that the countryside was so barren, being from Texas, im used to seeing land with cattle on it and I did not see see this whatsoever. Every now and then I would see an oil extractor but that’s it. It was like this until I got to to OK City. Stopped at a Cracker Barrel there and that was pretty much it for my experience with OK, we drove straight on through to KS and back afterwards. I would have liked to have seen some of the Native reservations but I don’t have time then, maybe in the future
The thing with the reservations here is they're not isolated like some others. Anyone is allowed to move there and they r basically just towns in oklahoma. U will, however notice alot more native influence. Anadarko is the most native American city here if u wanna c one. Hope u get 2 come back and visit my city, okc

Great video as always! I went to Oklahoma to "meet the parents" for a holiday weekend. We took a puddle jumper plane from DFW to OK, and I don't recommend that. I think 'somebody' wanted to show her friends how we spend money, maybe. Saw the 'Jesus of the Whichitas' monument, and the military base. They took me to some place where supposedly nobody finishes the hamburger, but I could have eaten 2 of them. I went to a tiny gym for a one-off visit, and saw the first Ford GT, that I had ever seen in person. I got to watch some Dallas Cowboys football with some authentic locals, and thought that was cool, being pretty alone doing that on the east coast. I bought some OSU sunglasses in a gas station. We went out drinking in a club, and I was glad to be part of a set of couples, because the men in there looked like the O-Line for OU football, not openly threatening, but the kind you wouldn't want to ask their date to dance and try to live to tell about it. On average, it looked like a nice state. The people I met up close did like to drink and smoke cigarettes until the room fogged up so bad, you couldn't see through it. You could definitely see the ease with which people could fall economically without some educational advantage. Any place where people are living very free, and not having a lot of outside influence is going to feel that way. It would be hard to choose over Texas given the proximity and opportunity differences. Just having access to DFW airport by car could be an edge there.
Lawton, though very much so GHETTO has the Wichita Mountains Wild Life refuge, Medicine Park, and the all-famous Meers burger. We also have Geronimo's Grave here which seems to be a popular place to visit just outside Fort Sill. Mount Scott is honestly breathtaking because you can go to the top of it and see for miles. (on a clear day as far as the red river). The refuge also has bison, prairie dogs, a museum, hiking, The Holy City, and Parallel forest.
Born and raised from the "yee yee" part of Oklahoma. Can't forget about the endless sights you will see of 7 lifted Ford F-150's parked at a Sonic or in the Walmart parking lot with a group of guys wearing American Fighter t-shirts, Oakley sunglasses, camo hats and a dip cup in hand. Glory days.

I see Oklahomans saying this is accurate, biggest thing is the litter, I live in california now (sadly) and can 100% say that this is the dirtiest and most disgusting state. Oklahoma even before it got cleaner, was 10000 times cleaner.
The problem, in my view, isn't the number of people who deliberately throw litter out their windows driving down the highway. It's the number of idiots who throw litter in the bed of their pickups, and EXPECT IT TO STAY THERE. Pickups are a trash distribution system.
You could have talked about the beautiful river walk downtown, the beach along the river, trolley, the arts, diverse cuisine. I love vacationing there. The people are truly friendly. You did get some of the things right. It is a red state for sure.
I moved to Oklahoma near Durant about 2 years ago. The shitting on small towns in this video is alittle excessive. Sure there are problems, but I've learned that people in this state are some the nicest most helpful people I've known. They aren't stuck up around here and are super happy to have conversations. Oklahoma isn't that bad imo. The scenery as you travel accross this state is amazing. Ive been in the Kiamchi mountains across to the sand dunes of Little Saraha state park. This state has alittle bit of everything.
I visited OKC back in 2010 (I'm from CA). Had a great time. My buddy was living there at the time for his job. We went noodling but didn't catch anything :( Waited in a long line to eat at Nic's Grill, but worth it! Saw the OKC bombing memorial and it is nice but heartbreaking.
Yee Yee is an apparel brand put out by TEXAN band called Granger Smith. The boys and girls here in Oklahoma find it in country/ western clothing stores (ie: Cavenders). I'm a southern Californian living in northern Oklahoma now. It was a massive cultural shock. It took years to adjust, but now, during these crazy, shifting times, I'm super grateful to be HERE. New cultures and imports are moving in and helping to evolve the mindsets, but the locals are stubborn. Ive never heard the term "yee-yees", but it's an accurate description🤣 Oklahoma girls are very pretty....it's the makeup! But can be competitive and clicky.
Idk where you live but the drug problem is bad
I'm from Lawton and still love my hometown.
I'm In Duncan and we got so many Walkers it ain't funny
@Mike Miller You seem to be confusing Mid-Del & Midwest City. Midwest City is a great place, mostly if you're east of Douglas and north of Reno (out of Mid-Del). Del City is horrible, except the far southeast corner. If you're in OKC, stay away from Del City & Capital hill.

As a Texan, I've often been to or through Oklahoma. I like Texas' neighbor to the north and east (if you are in the Texas panhandle). The Okies are good people overall. The only time when I don't like Oklahoma is when the Texas Longhorns play the Oklahoma Sooners! 😉
Oklahoma is an incredible state which is also the reason why people are moving here by the thousands - a ton of land still undeveloped - cost of living very low - amazing family environment - and entertainment has come a long ways! Thanks you Oklahoma
Just an FYI - Ouachita is pronounced Wa shi tah. Also, I've lived in Oklahoma for over 40 years and have NEVER heard the term "yee yees."
I'm not 40 yet but me neither
There is the Washita (wash-it-tah) river, etc. I thought we pronounced those mountains Witch-it-ah (Ouchita).
Yee Yee is a brand term made famous by country singer Granger Smith, who was born and lives in Texas. A lot of country fans say it but it’s not an Okie-ism.
To the outside world, Texas and Oklahoma may seem to be the same, but if you live here, it’s kind of like two crosstown warring high schools: bitter rivals in sports, although both are excellent.
Its a term from within the last ten years. The people I went to school with in piedmont had always said it.

Last 5 yrs, tornado alley has been moving more east. Although TX, OK, KS, AR, MO get their fair share. TN, MS, AL, FL, SC have been getting just as many if not more. Also FL is the lightning capital of the US.
@@rylencason4420
Actually Kansas and Florida has the most lightning density.
Yes, I’ve read the same thing. “Dixie Alley” is becoming a thing!
Seems like we are having a lot of minor earthquakes also, probably caused by fracking.

Good summary!!
