The BEST Guitar Pickups!!! | Fishman Fluence Tosin Abasi 6, 7, & 8 String Overview and Demo

In this lengthy video I review the Fishman Fluence Tosin Abasi pickups in all 3 of their available configurations. I used an Ibanez RGA8, Ibanez XG307, and Ibanez RG3EXFM1 in the demos. They all used the exact same settings shown on my EVH 5150 III EL34 50W going into my Two Notes Torpedo Captor through the Brit VinC cab IR. I added a little reverb from a stock Logic plugin to keep the tracks from sounding too dry, but otherwise they have no post processing or EQing.
For this demo, to really hear the differences it's best to use studio monitors or some quality headphones. The differences in the available tones is much more noticeable in the cleans than in the dirty tones, which is very interesting.
Please don't mind any mistakes I made in the video. It was a lot of footage to take and my hand started cramping a bit while I filmed the playing and I may have made some mistakes.

Seeing as you used the Tosin Abasi wiring diagram on your 6 an 8 string guitars, and your 7 string has a 3 way switch plus a toggle switch, i am assuming that on the 7 string, when you use the neck pickup single coil, it is the bridge side coil that is active, and on the 6 and 8 string guitars, it is infact the neck side coil (as per the Tosin Abasi wiring diagram), correct?

@@mobbinator oh, sorry, i read up more on the Tosin pickups, so the default coils on BOTH of the pickups are the neck side coils, so, if your 7 string has a 3-way 2 pole switch, then it would seem to me that all 3 guitars had the neck pickup neck-side coil active in single coil mode. BUT, then the difference in the 7 string is that in the both pickup split position, on the 7 string both the neck side coils are active, while in the other two guitars the inner coils are active (so more hum canceling should be apparent, even though Fishmans are really quiet anyways).

@@onix45 you must be right, because when the inner coils of both pickups are active, it's nearly silent, but with the 7 there's a slight bit more noise. Still nothing crazy but by your logic that would explain that phenomenon

Hey Marvin do you experience any volume drop between the neck humbucker voices in position 1, 3, or 5 vs. the neck single coil in position 4?

A little bit. I think it's the way the position is EQ'd and it makes it seem like it loses volume
