Finalluy a conclusive answer. Sometimes you get a "this is best, that is best" scenario where as this is giving you the information so you can create the answer for yourself. Thanks man!
Love the shop. Bought an Amazon board for cheap and will be building my own soon. Love the wide range of options for everything from decks to t shirts.
Bro! Props! Your understanding is amazing! Thank you for explaining to us what we desire! You are very knowledgeable and present ideas that open our mind about skate boards. ❤🙏
Great video, I'm new to the skate world and this video was super helpful in understanding different trucks for different purposes. Thanks! Keep up the good work, I'm sure I'll be back for more.
This was informative thank you. I have a board with double decker gull wing trucks and I was looking for a video that describes them well. And this video was simple straight to the point and had the exact information I was looking for. Thank you
The 35in LandYachtz Switch Fox behind you was my favorite/most expensive board. I put thousands of miles on it - I got jumped and it was stolen… Best board I have ever ridden.
This was a really great video. Thank you very much for explaining some of the different trucks and some basic customization. Like to know little bit more about bushing durometers but thank you!
This was such a great tutorial on choosing trucks and bushings especially for a noob like me, thank you! So, I just started longboarding about 3 months ago. I'm pretty much a mellow rider looking to cruise, mellow freeride and low style carving. I'm set up on an 2015 Arbor Rally board. I have the stock setup for the trucks which is Caliber 50 9.0" trucks and bushings are ultra-high rebound 89a Blood Orange barrel & cone combo. I have swapped out the wheels to the Sucrose Initiative Bogarts (61mm / CP 36mm / OS 2.5mm / 82a) which for me are so much better than the Sucrose Mosh wheels and I've also swapped the bearings to Bones Redz. (Stock bearings were Abec 5's). I've really been able to pick up speed and get some decent carving and freeriding, but I feel really limited on maneuverability still. (here's a link to the board with the description of the stock setup: arborcollective.com/skateboards/products/rally/) I am a pretty small chick (5 ft tall and weigh about 115) so I'm wondering if a different truck or bushing setup might help me get some better response on the board? In reality, it could just totally be me and my technique. After watching the video though, I thought about flipping the hanger around and just sort of seeing how that responds with my stature and such. But do you have any other suggestions? Thanks!
***** Thank you so much for the tips! The 10-bag option definitely sounds like a great way to test out different options to find the one that works. And you might definitely be right about the hanger. In fact, shortly after I bought the board I took it to a skate shop because the trucks were squeaking and I had no idea if that was normal. The guy took the em off and sprayed WD-40 on it and I have't since touched it. Perhaps this whole time I just needed to loosen them a bit! Thanks for the tips!
***** Ross, I wanted to let you know I picked up some 83a Orangatang Nipples Bushings. Wow, you're so right...the difference is incredible. I just got them on and took them out for a quick run so I'll be playing around some more and I'm definitely going after that Venom 10-bag to play with the setup some more. Thanks again for your help!
thanks for the Information about Different Types Of Trucks...Now I know what to do with my ... Gullwing Reverse Truck Co. For my Longboard...Jacko Pro 2017...I Flipped The Back Truck For my Stable my Downhill and Freeride...
Yes, I also ask what is that board at the bottom left looking at the video? And please explain how angled risers work with different setups and riding styles. Thanks.
I've only had original trucks, so I have no idea what kind of bushings I should have for my new Gullwing sidewinder 2's. I weigh 92kg / 202 lbs. I don't do sliding or downhill, I only use it as a form of transportation. I live in the city so I need to be able to make really tight turns to dodge people while I cruise down the street but I want it to be steady as well for somewhat higher speed. Someone help me please!
my question is that I'm new to longboarding and i was wondering which one i should use for riding around the sidewalks with my friends and just cruising around
I want to get the Landyachtz Hatchet and I was wondering what truck I should use? I will be using it mostly for cruising around town and some carving. Thanks!
what should I do if I already got sabre cast trucks which limit the amount they can turn because the bushing seat hits the side of the bushing but I want a smaller turning circle?
I am hoping to use a future longboard for travel i have never had one before but i am hoping to get paris v3 180mm 50° trucks do you think they will be good for getting around from things like work or even just going on things like trails and things while traveling? Im also hoping to get orangutang caguama 85mm wheels to go together with this and bones super reds bearings because from what i have seen they are the best within a certain budget. The paris trucks and the orangutang wheels are what im most worried about as i am using these for commute and need something that can take me over rough concrete and pavement that is not one hundred percent even has some breakage or cracks and from what i have seen the wheels are great for that. Also the board they will be going on is a junli amazon board as i have seen alot of things say that the more expensive ones are actually worse in some cases and i do not have money to get an expensive board just to take it apart and add my own things. It would also cost more money just to get the deck as if the original things that come with the board are good enough i could stick with them for a while. Sorry that this is alot i am just really worried about not getting something that will be good with that im going for and i do not have the money to experiment 😅
Hey I was just wondering what trucks you would reccomend for Less but still some sliding, riding hills (30-50 mph), freestyle, cruising, some, but little transportation, and flat sessions. Thank you i Dont know much about building longboards
Great video! Your explanations are quite useful and complete. I'm setting up my first surfskate, trying to make the best cost x benefit possible. I'm working on a longboard 'carvy and grippy' enough to bring that surf feeling into the streets. Anyway, Im not a longboard expert but my research and your videos are directing me to this possible Set up: Deck: Similar to the Sector 9 Striker, 32 to 38 inches Trucks: Similar to the Gulling Side winder or Carver C7 or CX. Bushings: softs like cone style Wheels: 70 to 75 mm tall, 70 to 80A soft, 50 to 70mm contact, centerset maybe offset with shine skin and sharp lip Am i forgetting anything? can you suggest any decent fair price set up or brand?! Thank you and good job to you all!!
i need a truck that can steer good for in the city for the tied corners, but also one that lets me speed up a little for the long and more straight roads... which one do you recommend?
I have a question about the 4 nuts that hold the platform of the truck and board together. What are they called? Do i tighten them? I can't seem to tighten them on my board they feel loose. Im asking because i can literally wiggle the whole truck. I try twisting it left and right and it off sets seeming very loose. I feel like its going to dismantle the whole truck and fall off while riding. Please help somebody!
what is the highest degree baseplate angle thats recommended. I just bought a deck with 10 degree wedge on either end. What baseplate angle should I buy to get a carvy feel without having too high of a baseplate angle
I could understand that the gull wing sidewinder 2's are less stable because the double king pin but I have yet to get speed wobble with them and in Wisconsin we have quit a bit of fast hills there's one by my house that me and my friend have clocked in over 37mph
would you ever suggest normal kingpins for big hills? because i was looking at the Landyauchtz loco 37 and it has normal kingpin trucks. I love to slide and go pretty fast like 25 mph, but then i like to do tricks. so thats why i was looking at the loco
As a complete noob to longboarding, I found this super helpful. Thanks for the video!
Good question
Like wise!
Yeah same here
this dude knows his stuff 👍

This was informative thank you. I have a board with double decker gull wing trucks and I was looking for a video that describes them well. And this video was simple straight to the point and had the exact information I was looking for. Thank you
Wish i had learned about this prior to buying a full longboard. This explains my many bloopers when riding
The 35in LandYachtz Switch Fox behind you was my favorite/most expensive board. I put thousands of miles on it - I got jumped and it was stolen… Best board I have ever ridden.
That's was such a detailed explanation. Thanks and God bless ☺️🙏🏼❤️
Got Bear Gen 6 trucks. They are freaking amazing! They seriously improved their product!
Your videos are so helpful! I just got into longboarding and I already am catching on and learning how to ride quick! Nice job and thanks!
Amazing presentation skills, lol Great job!
Can a Randal R-III 180mm at 50 degrees fit through the opening of the Arbor Axis in Walnut?
This was a really great video. Thank you very much for explaining some of the different trucks and some basic customization. Like to know little bit more about bushing durometers but thank you!

Laura Sheldon I just took the board out on an initial test with the trucks reversed. MAJOR difference in responsiveness!
