Also don't over tighten your trucks, that can cause the cracking sounds, or you'll destroy your bushings pretty quickly. I tighten my trucks until I can't spin the bushing around inside the seat. If you need more stability in your riding, opt for denser bushings, don't tighten the truck even more than you need to. I put an 87a bushing on the bottom, nearest the board, and put an 83a bushing ontop, that gives me the downhill stability I need, and I maintain the maneuverability I need And about wheelbite, it can't be prevented, but it can be avoided. Don't ride any board without 1/16" shock pads, and always check for wheel bite when riding big wheels on loose trucks. thanks this super useful! could you also clearing up the theory about how tight/loose trucks should be in longboarding? yeah crunchie made one but i dont quite understand :(
Apu889 it's very much a personal preference. I prefer them as loose as possible. I will loosen the bolt until it rattles and then tighten it up half a spin. Others prefer them tight. I will tighten it up if going at higher speeds, but for big carves I like em loose. Tight requires more pressure to turn but is more stable. Loose turns slicker and quicker but might wobble. Try out yourself, half a spin with the skate tool and ride. Keep trying your turns and check the difference.
Hi Loaded, I purchased a loaded Icarus a month ago. I put some soap on the bushings and the pivot cup. It was a lot less squeaky. But now I have a problem with it, When I turn I hear a sort of snap, I can also feel it in my feat... I checked my board a couple times now and all the bolts are all tight. I am also using paris v2 with orangatang nipples. (the pro setup of the loaded Icarus). It would be really kind if you could help me, great video btw. I am already looking forward to the next one.
are your truck bushings barrel types of cone types? My truck had barrel bushings and I had the same problem. It turns out the snapping sound was from the bushing's washer hitting the truck when turning too much. Solution was to change it to bushing washers that didnt go past the bushing like a bowl, like flat ones... Hope it helps mate!
Ethan Foo hello and thanks for your reply. My stock bushings from the paris v2 were: 1 barrel to the board and the other one was a cone. I eventually replaced them with orangatang nipples. The orangatang nipples are both barrel type. After I put somme soap on them I had the problem. I did try try replacing the flat washers to the cone shaped washers, but unfortunately it didn’t help. After that I decided to just replace it with the sock bushing but that didn’t help either. I found this especially weird because this didn’t happen when I bought it. I was thinking the soap of the bushing must of caused it.... Sorry for my late replay (I am very busy with my school exam week), but thanks a lot for your reply.
Hello there! Thanks for nice tutorial maintenance of longboard🙏 Just got one question after cleaning bearings with 91% alcohol, did you use some lube afterwards ?
We always recommend to tighten them all the way down if you can. This only works if you are using 8mm washers on the outside of the bearings, with an 8mm tube spacer in between the bearings inside the wheel. The washers and spacer should connect perfectly with the inner ring of the bearings to keep them tight and locked, but still let the bearings spin and roll without any added friction. If you do not have any of these components, especially the 8mm tube spacer, then we recommend you tighten your nut down until it start to hit the bearing, but then loosen the nut about a 1/4 turn to make sure you aren't choking the bearing. Some bearings have the 8mm washer and tube spacer built into the bearing itself, which allows you to tighten the nut all the way down without needing any extra pieces besides the two bearings and the nut. Check them out here: loadedboards.com/114-39.html
So does the bearing cleaner work better if you don't add the spacers in between each bearing? And I use natural orange degreaser, made sure to get the stuff that's surface safe.
Depends on how much your ride your board. If it is your everyday commuter, than a routine maintenance check about ever two weeks will really help to extend your board's life. If you ride in the rain, this is a good thing to go through every other day, just to make sure the parts don't rust and degrade.
For squaky trucks you can also use something like paraffin wax or wax crayons if you happen to have some. Any liquids are basically a no-go as most damage the plastic bushings, like WD40. Don't use WD40.
If your bushings don't look like little cylinders anymore, probably a good time to change them. As long as your bushings don't look like a dirt monster chewed on them and mutilated them, you are probably still okay. Every month of so, take your trucks apart and inspect the quality of the bushings and pivot cup. When you can see metal showing through your pivot cup, that's a create indicator that the pivot cup is worn out and needs to be replaced. Hope this helps!
Why am I watching this? I don't have a longboard. I have a general chemistry exam tomorrow morning.
This will be on the exam.

I've found that graphite is more efficient that using soap.
At least it doesn’t hold any moisture and fat. It’s absorbent too and at higher temps it stays the same
Hello there!
Thanks for nice tutorial maintenance of longboard🙏
Just got one question after cleaning bearings with 91% alcohol, did you use some lube afterwards ?
Yeah, I believe he talked about using 3-in-1 lubricant. 2:25
Great video. Thanks 🤙🏻
this is the cat shirt that flips people off right XD
What about the different diameter of the inner bearings and the truck axes, does it make a difference?
I need a job with you guys please!!! 😂
the best part , ryan sheckler action figure xd
Pinewood derby graphite works for pivot cups😉
How tight do you screw the bolt in on the side of the wheels by the bearings, always having trouble with that
We always recommend to tighten them all the way down if you can.
What kind of alcohol do you use after you clean your bearings in order to lube them? Just rubbing alcohol?
9:43 HIS HAND 😳 I can’t do that it looks like it hurts 😭😂
Need more videos :( i already watch all of loaded videos, more dance tips pls
What can I use instead of a pivot cup, all shops are closed because of quarantine. Any makeshift items ?
So does the bearing cleaner work better if you don't add the spacers in between each bearing? And I use natural orange degreaser, made sure to get the stuff that's surface safe.
Use the spacers if you got them. No need to let bearings crash into each other. I also use an orange degreaser.
@@chau2k5 ah, I just assumed because he didn't load up the spacers in the video, he probably lost them though hahaha
Eyy I have that board, rides nice. Still want the tarab though
Thank you!!! the squeaky sound was driving me insane 😭
Board uncomfy to ride on? Bumpy road? SHOCK PADS YA GOTTA LOVE EM'
How often should you do the maintenance? Bearings especially
Depends on how much your ride your board. If it is your everyday commuter, than a routine maintenance check about ever two weeks will really help to extend your board's life. If you ride in the rain, this is a good thing to go through every other day, just to make sure the parts don't rust and degrade.
@@LoadedBoards Thanks appreciate the advice👍🏼
Is Speed Cream okay for lubricating the pivot cup?
Thanks for the tips dude! Try using some LED lights for filming! :D
The spacers between the bearings, ....is it one length fits all???, ..no matter what wheel you're using
For squaky trucks you can also use something like paraffin wax or wax crayons if you happen to have some. Any liquids are basically a no-go as most damage the plastic bushings, like WD40. Don't use WD40.
When tightening the rubber bushing, what is too tight or too loose?
I want to know about bushings and when do I have to change them and pivot cups also! Thanks
LoadedNewsletter thanks! It sure helped a lot!
