Omar, you were spot on with your final statement about how autonomy will make electrification happen. It will happen anyway, and faster than most think, but autonomy will put the transition into hyperdrive.
That was fantastic! The closing remarks about how people don't get it yet but will really hit home and giving Gali mad props during the show. Spot on! Love this content.

I had to stop half way in when you guys were discussing range and what people need (300). I'll disagree as one of you pointed out but I want to add to it. Yes, the average distance is 30 miles per day but your battery is used for more than just distance traveled. First top range is based off a full charge until about dead correct? So you never actually get full range as you stop charging at around 80% to slow batter degradation. Plus you never drive until you're completely dead. Second, like pointed out, drivers use AC or heat, they blast music, they drive fast, they charge their phones or accessories, they use headlights, plus some have to drive in very cold climates which also hinders battery performance. I ordered the tri-motor cybertruck because of the 500 mile range just because of the larger batter capacity (and I need a truck for snow in my cold climate). Plus I want to use it as a robotaxi one day 🤞. The longer the range the more options I have. I can send it nearby and run it much longer without needing to charge thus capitalizing on income opportunity, or I can use it for longer distance ride-sharing and undercut other means of travel. For example, if someone want to take a trip across the start to ride their snowmobile on more oper terrain but they don't have a trailer or they don't want to make the drive, they could just hire my cybertruck to come pick them and their snowmobile up and take them there. Or hell, want to take a trip from Michigan to Florida with your friends? Pile all of you luggage in the back, everyone pile into my spacious cab and enjoy not driving 1000+ miles. And guess what$500-$600 is much cheaper than 6 plane tickets or any tickets for that matter and you don't even need to drive. Also, since you're not driving you don't need to stop and get a hotel. More savings. Range is King for robotaxi! More batter, more enjoyable of a ride with less stops.
Most people can remember personal interactions with 300 people total. It seems like Elon Musk has actual interactions with more than 3000 people, and remembers them. Amazing.
Nice show... best I have yet seen! Fantastic people... Frankly I don't care and he doesn't care if he is "just" a multi-billionaire or a trillionaire. Elon is just the nicest (smartest) person you'll ever meet! I want a free ride to Mars...
I think Tesla will try to maximize range on batteries as much as possible for 3&Y at least for Robotaxi Service. And makes sense for them to do Semi Production at Giga Sparks, because if they were to do it at Fremont, they would ironically need a whole bunch of diesel trucks or rail just to transport all the Battery Cells from there to install in The Semi’s. Makes sense to do on site, plus new structure just went up next door, that could be used for production, and possibly connect to main building one day. Maybe through Boring Tunnels.
The model Y is going to sell big time in Europe and Asia, as it is smack in the middle of the most popular market segment. I want to get a model Y myself, as it is the right kind of vehicle for us in Norway. As I get older, the low cars are getting cumbersome to exit, and the higher seating position in the model Y will be spot on for me. The car will be able to make those longer trips easily, and find a suitable charger and rest stop area, without any fear of running out of juice prematurely.
Removing the battery modules and installing the battery cells directly into the battery pack will open up more room for more cells in the same space. This is a very easy way to extend the range for low cost change to the battery pack.
Simon Mills with our Governments anti-innovation model of economic development I suspect an Australian Giga Factory is a fair way off. Interesting to think Australia haven’t welcomed his solar development projects more considering we are the sunny continent.
Marvelous! Love what you guys are doing! I agree with your thoughts about new battery developments: it's probably very likely that Tesla maintains its relationship with Panasonic for awhile, at least until Tesla might be able to ramp up its own battery production with the new Maxwell technology. If they're building a new battery production "line" in Fremont, as part of vertical integration within Tesla, it could be several months before those new batteries are actually included within Tesla EV's. It will be very interesting to see how this develops.
"There are very few daily use cases for more than 300 miles" reminds me of my 1982 Computer Science teacher saying, "Why are they trying to build computers with 128 kilobytes of ram, what are people ever going to do with that much memory?" LOL
Add in speed, weather ( rain, snow, freezing temps). The ability to charge faster for a longer time. People not having access to home charging (though I think that will be largely solved). Possibility of Doing single day road trips (driving 2 hours for a hike or skiën, amusement park, family/friends visit) and driving straight home again without the need for a charging stop... Lots of reasons for bigger battery capacity (though increased efficiencies should be #1)
quantaca definitely. Just need to be able to scale and tesla is currently battery constrained, so need to balance range/production and price at the moment. Hopefully Maxwell can improve on all these points.
Superchargers at race tracks is a great idea! 1:06:00 Like Circuit of the Americas - except maybe F1 isn't the best collaboration.?.. And formula-e mostly race at unusual/temporary circuits... so... Maybe we could vote on which circuits get chargers first?
Thanks for sharing. This podcast made my day. Lots of laughs. Honest and emotional. Hope you will be able to do another one with Elon regulary. (Once a year would be great (high goals, right :-)). That will be a great way for the world to "know" the person I believe (I hope) will get the Nobel peace price and the respect/tribute/love he deserves. Next time you have prepared a bunch of great questions. Business/None business. Tech/none tech. Lots of thanx from Sweden!
Re the cell rollout. IF the " Maxwell" tech can be produced at 10× immediately and they have a factory (smaller) to produce them, that *could* be an *immediate* switch. Fremont (Skunkworks?) Factory? 10% the space plus "can" assembly. There's a possibility they could replicate existing production.
You guys and girls:) should try to get 1 person in each country/city that there making Giga factory. A person that of course speaks good english and the primary language in their country, that is of course a huge Tesla fan and entusiast. Like for ex one of the guy in Shanghai that makes the drone videos over the Giga Shanghai factory, so we could try to get more details, more videos etc when it comes to new details/info. Especially Giga Berlin were the ground still not hasn't started to be digged up. Finally the court has ruled that they can continue to cut down the trees:) Keep up the good work!

In general, I agree what you‘ve said about Autopilot, which helps tremendously when driving not only long distances. It’s also amazing when driving during rainy days - usually, I don’t even turn on wipers - Autopilot works great seeing the road better than I do without wipers. However, it seems that the Autopilot is not getting better each time you drive the same road. Actually, I have noticed that after the last software update more phantom breaks occurs on the same road than before and speed on exists has changed into opposite direction than it would be by the expected improvement. have you noticed that also navigation gets confused many times on multilevel bridges? Speed limit on city roads is also many times lower that the actually legally allowed. (I've been using Autopilot most of the time when driving and closing to 30k miles on my Tesla's odometer)
Stefan we did an episode on autopilot. Expect some re-learning to occur after each update. Will be different in the future especially when dojo comes online.
The end comments were great. At 61 - let me be clear with the bigger picture - Autopilot is just the next rung in the ladder of his mission. Admiration for Musk's work is not just about desire to protect the planet's climate and by extension humanity's spark of intelligence in a quiet galaxy. It's about combining that with a drive, intelligence, and execution that may actually turn this gigantic ship of civilization. For decades we have had nothing to fight the carbon based monopolies on their headlong rush to wealth regardless of destruction. Elon has built the core of a powerful pro-survival capitalist empire from nothing. One that we can all fight for and support. Amazingly, while having fun! For years the best we could hope for was re-watching 'Who killed the Electric Car' and wondering why we gave up after landing on the moon in my youth. Ad Astra and continued success my friends.
I've ordered the tri motor cyber truck last April & may buy the S Plaid too? I got lots or solar & battery backup to charger them. I love space X too..
The financial succes is a succes because the product is a succes, as long as the company got the best product, financial succes is expected. Most analists don't look that far and only look at the financial numbers, not what causes those financial numbers (the products). Hyperchange does look at the things that improve the product, if the product get's improved even further, especially compared to the competition, then that will be a guarantee for good financial numbers in the future. Old financial numbers won't. That's the main difference between the average analist and Hyperchange.
I think GF Texas exterior will be made out of Steel because Elon tweeted out something about "why aren’t building built out of stainless steel” and it will be making CyberTruck.
You get two kinds of people. Elon fans, and jealous haters. Honestly, the guy is so unique, but he literally does not do anything to offend anyone. He is not even openly partisan in politics or anything... So there is literally no reason to hate him, unless you just plain jealous.
A thought. Rolls of Maxwell manufactured LFP electrode sent to CATL for production of the Model 3 batteries? Performance upgrade? (Premixed electrolyte sent the same way?)
Australia is the natural place to go for minerals and robotic manufacturing, but not so much exports of machinery any more. It's either too easy or too hard doing business with not much in between. Mixing in Chinese/Australian businesses is already done, usual warnings apply. Put Gali on it. Chinese already own?, a Lithium mine in West Australia. Mines are remote, some are converting to Solar Electric, so as "eary adopters" it makes very good sense to have battery Gigafactories there, primary industries transportation by road and rail need a revolution in tech, which goes for everything.. Hyper rationality cannot be considered to be a cult, but it is the right approach to reintegrate culture.
Dear Cult. Let's start an All Tesla Ride Sharing Service that owners can participate in, prior to the launch of the Tesla Robo Taxi Service. I would love the opportunity to drive my Model Y around, defray the cost, and become part of the informal marketing network.
James Chapman would be sweet! Elon said at the shareholder meeting last June, that the tesla ride sharing network may launch before full autonomy. Would love it
Great content especially historical memorable Telsa events.Anuarbek is animated & passionate, went to sub Tesla Geeks, last vid on site is 25 Dec 18, is channel to continue can u pls advise .
I think there's room for a battery focused Gigafactory in Australia. That project with the 3000km cable to Singapore will need a lot of storage for example.
I think something that seems to be being missed with Tesla possibly using LiFePo batteries in China is life cycle. They last roughly twice as long as Tesla's current technology. Could be part of the puzzle that helps explain the million mile Teslas Elon predicts Is also the same chemistry being used, and made, by BYD. In their buses, cars, storage products. And has been for a decade.
41:20 In the long term (maybe two years), I wonder if the Y will kill the X? Based on Elon’s comments (about the S and X), the interwebs’ comments on how big the Y is (seemingly close to the X), and how much more efficient it is over the X.
Karim you’re welcome. Most of our episodes are published very soon after recording. This one took a bit longer, but still within a couple weeks. I’ll put the recording date in the description going forward. 👍

Like Circuit of the Americas - except maybe F1 isn't the best collaboration.?.. And formula-e mostly race at unusual/temporary circuits... so... Maybe we could vote on which circuits get chargers first?
Will Darling totally. Love to work with formula e.
"All your battery belong to us"
Thanks for sharing.
Loved this great to see you all guys:)
Julian Hakes we’re happy you loved it
keep up the good work guys
Love from Kazakhstan !
Agreed with FSD and autopilot is the future!
Finally the court has ruled that they can continue to cut down the trees:)
Keep up the good work!
Kenneth Møllen may do this in person when we visit.
I really appreciate the reality based prognosis from HyperChange for $TSLA Q2-3. Good sense
if any of you guys are qualified to work at tesla you'd be hired so fast lol
I've been following Tesla from the beginning. I still remember talking to my brother about Testsa and he was totally dismissive. The engineer in my family is now awestruct
Guys...can someone ask ELON this question ....I just want to know when will tesla enter India ....please give me a reply guys ...the podcast with elon was awesome ...appreciate your efforts guys 👍👍👍
he'll kick us out if we ask that.
just kidding. Tesla will get there eventually.
Awesome video, must feel great be like the Tesla extended Family.
Cristian Federico we are fam-i-ly 🕺🏻 ⚡️
@@ThirdRowTesla Elon give you almost an entire day, he does not do that, he is famous to say that his meeting last 10-20 minutes, he really cares about you, he really open up to you.
t
Thank you Cristian. We care about him and our Tesla family too.♥️
Third Row Tesla "The Man Who Fell to Earth" David Bowie. Which of you has seen this movie and what comparisons do you see with Elon Musk?
Connect dots. Read the book of revelation too.. End times, be prepared. Think Good, be positive, be brave... Uhm and don't panic, just keep the Faith in Christ Jesus, keep the Love for eachother...
Awesome guys! Being an Aussie, it was great to hear you discuss the idea of giga Australian, I can only hope! Also does anyone know if the model Y will have a greater towing capacity than the 3?
No worries mate. Probably will be similar, maybe slightly more towing capacity than European model 3.
very good!
cheers!
I literally can't wait to get a Tesla 🙋♂️🙋♂️🙋♂️
You can do it!
@@ThirdRowTesla I am unfortunately waiting for the cybertruck as I am an electrician and need a bed for tools and rolls of wire. But 2021 will be here before you know it🙋♂️🙋♂️
As Elon says back in the days if you want to wait for a best Tesla, you will be waiting forever because it's getting better all the time.
I Love The Ricky Bobby Hands Eli. LMAO.
also his hands look nothing like starman's
this video is great
Stay Tuned
I've ordered the tri motor cyber truck last April & may buy the S Plaid too? I got lots or solar & battery backup to charger them. I love space X too..
Nice!
I think GF Texas exterior will be made out of Steel because Elon tweeted out something about "why aren’t building built out of stainless steel” and it will be making CyberTruck.
you have the ultimate driving experience
You get two kinds of people. Elon fans, and jealous haters. Honestly, the guy is so unique, but he literally does not do anything to offend anyone. He is not even openly partisan in politics or anything... So there is literally no reason to hate him, unless you just plain jealous.
A thought.
Rolls of Maxwell manufactured LFP electrode sent to CATL for production of the Model 3 batteries?
Performance upgrade?
(Premixed electrolyte sent the same way?)
Interesting. Could have significant performance increase.
That’s excellent info. Thanks David!
There actually was a "parade" for anyone who wanted to drive their car on the track at Fully Charged Live. I watched it, but did not participate. :-)
love the crew
we love you back
Upload the uncut version of the podcast with Elon!
Drew Meyers seriously not much taken out. Just Elon turning the ac off
GigaMexico ftw
Efu Koka thanks! their audio podcast is active

Gigafactory Australia .... Please make it happen :)
I think there's room for a battery focused Gigafactory in Australia. That project with the 3000km cable to Singapore will need a lot of storage for example.
Should we change the name of the podcast to CulTesla?
unofficially, sure
I think something that seems to be being missed with Tesla possibly using LiFePo batteries in China is life cycle. They last roughly twice as long as Tesla's current technology. Could be part of the puzzle that helps explain the million mile Teslas Elon predicts
Is also the same chemistry being used, and made, by BYD. In their buses, cars, storage products. And has been for a decade.
stevethayneable interesting
41:20 In the long term (maybe two years), I wonder if the Y will kill the X? Based on Elon’s comments (about the S and X), the interwebs’ comments on how big the Y is (seemingly close to the X), and how much more efficient it is over the X.
Can't kill S3XY.
Thanks for the reply Sofiaan. *I deleted the original comment.
Karim you’re welcome. Most of our episodes are published very soon after recording. This one took a bit longer, but still within a couple weeks. I’ll put the recording date in the description going forward. 👍
do you have interchangeable parts like when you upgrade your car in Forza horizon 1
like down to the rims
build your own faster lane like busses to replicate the game when the cars are safe enough with chargers on the side of the road same tech whatever model
pro safety
Gali the handle is called an O sHIT bar!
😆
Don't you guys know from whom Elon bought that house that you interviewed him?
It's not just a house down from his house. It was G. W. house for over 30 years and also Elon lived there for a while.
