The Night When Muhammad Ali Challenged the Hardest Puncher in History

- On September 29, 1977, Muhammad Ali entered the ring, as many say, against the hardest puncher in boxing history, Ernie Shavers. In this fight, Ali defended the WBC and WBA world champion belts for the 10th time, which he won in the legendary fight against George Foreman in 1974.

The heavyweight division in the 70's was loaded!
Ali, Frazier,Foreman,Quarry,Lyle,Norton,Shavers,Bonavena, Young and Jimmy Ellis etc.
For me, that’s why Ali’s the Greatest.
The Heavyweight Division was as loaded then as it ever was, and Ali took them ALL on, beating them all.
@@kevinmahon7848Sunny Liston the most terrifying and feared.
Arguably Ali's most courageous and impressive win of them all. At 35 and already in the early stages of Parkinson's, fighting on pure will, he went 15 with one of the most dangerous punchers in boxing history.
He put many down with those type of punches he let loose on Ali, who mostly stood his ground and came back to out box Ernie, who was no doubt a big hitter, but Ali was the ultimate boxer and showman.🥇👌👍
Frazier said that Ali would rather die than quit. He sure can take a punch.
What happens if you do kill the other person in the ring, that's still a loss/tko isn't it?
haha did you watch ali vs frazier 3rd match
@@avishekkumarjaiswal7594 Yes. I saw it when it happened.
that’s why Holmes really killed him that day
If Ali didn't fall from those heaviest jabs....he really had a chin
Puncher of The Century Earnie Shavers is known for being the hardest puncher in Heavyweight boxing history. He scored 69 knockout wins, including 23 in the first round.
So powerful, both Joe Frazier and George Foreman told boxing writer Jerry Eisenberg they would never fight Shavers. Real fighters knew enough to avoid him. His incredible one punch power made him more than dangerous. George Foreman told him personally when Earnie lobbied for a fight, "hell no." Joe Frazier told Shavers bluntly when Shavers asked him for a shot, "No way, Earnie.”
Hall of Fame and all time greats Ali and Holmes both said Shavers power, especially his one punch power, was simply unrivaled. But they, and others, also said a lot more..
Angelo Dundee, the great trainer, said "Earnie wasn't really a good boxer, but God, his power was amazing."
Muhammad Ali said after his match with Shavers, "Earnie hit me so hard, he shook my kinfolk back in Africa"
And when fighters had to meet him, they left in awe. Tex Cobb said "Earnie could punch you in the neck with his right hand and break your ankle." He also said, "if a man hit any harder than Earnie I'd shoot him."
Ron Lyle: "Hey man, that's the hardest I've ever been hit in my life. And George Foreman could punch, but none of them could hit like Earnie Shavers did. When he hit you, the lights went out. I can laugh about it now, but at the time it wasn't funny."
Larry Holmes, comparing Shavers to Tyson, said "Earnie hit me harder than any other fighter, including Mike Tyson. He hit me and I was face down on the canvas hearing saxophonist Jimmy Tillis."
Jimmy Young, who was knocked cold by Shavers in his first fight, but survived the second, said "I was not gonna get tagged by him again, no sir!"
Nor were fighters and trainers the only ones who saw and marveled at Shavers sheer overwhelming power. Hall of Fame sports journalist Jerry Izenberg said of Shavers, "rarely did Earnie hit anyone below the neck; he was a headhunter and a good one. For me, Shavers was the greatest one-punch hitter I have ever seen."
"However, while Shavers struck serious fear into his opponents, such freakishly big hitting power had its drawbacks for the man himself," said Kenny Rainford.
“Being such a big puncher actually hurt my career,” says Shavers. “I relied on my power too much. I wish I’d had trainers that could have taught me more about combination punches."
“I used to gas out in five or six rounds because I put that much effort into my punches and it was impossible to punch for an entire fight without tiring out."
In the years that followed, Rainford met Ali and asked him about the famous fight with Shavers.
“I can not remember the last round of our fight,” Ali admitted. “He hit me so hard that for fourteenth round, I was on autopilot. I can’t remember a thing. When I’ve watched the fight back, and see the way I rallied in the fifteenth round, I was doing that off memory.”
Shavers reigned down on Ali with 266 punches that night. Afterwards, Rainford claims, the New York commission stated Ali would never fight in New York again after doctors discovered tears on his brain.
Eig's study, conducted by Arizona State speech scientists Visar Berisha and Julie Liss found that Ali's speech slowed by 16 percent after a 15-round bout with Ernie Shavers in 1977. Shavers, a brawler, landed 266 punches throughout the fight. If one fight had to be picked, Ernie Shavers inflicted the most damage.
Shavers is directly responsibly for the early retirements of Ron Asher, Frank Smith, Bunky Akins, Bill McMurray, Harold Carter, Eddie Parotte and Larry Sims, all of whom he knocked out and never fought again.
Shaver did say once that his trainers and managers did not do enough to teach him the fine points of boxing and he wished that they had. I saw Ali-Shaver on television. There were a lot of missed punches in that fight. Shaver also took a lot of punches on thje glove, which is supposed to be no points. I thought that Shavers won by a close margin, but the judges gave it to Ali. I would like to go over some of Ali's fights with someone who really knew scoring and what to look for. I think he got some sweetheart decisions late in his career but a close study would determine whether that was true or not. I won't watch boxing or any other combat sport. The old bouts belong to history and no huge harm in watching or analyzing them.
Actually a Frazier v. Shavers match was made in MSG in 1977 and Frazier had to pull out because of hepatitis....But, he later admitted, that with his bore ahead style, Shavers would've easily KO'd him
Wow. Such a well detailed info. That guy shavers must be something else. Looking at some of the punches Ali has already taken so far here got my heart jumping .
'Muhammad Ali said after his match with Shavers, "Earnie hit me so hard, he shook my kinfolk back in Africa" '
He also said that of Henry Cooper.
'Shavers, a brawler, landed 266 punches throughout the fight. [If one fight had to be picked, Ernie Shavers inflicted the most damage].'
The first part is quoted, the second part has been added by you. The study didn't make any such claim. Here's some other quotations from Jonathan Eig:
'Between 1970 and 1980, he'd begun speaking 26 percent slower. And you can see that after individual fights, his speech rate would decline, then begin to recover until he'd fight again - then it would go back down.'
'"Ferdie (Ali's longtime doctor) told me that he first saw signs of real brain damage as early as 1971 - when he was 29 - after Ali's fight with Joe Frazier.'"
The fact you embellished that Eig inclusion makes me wonder about the accuracy and honesty of all the others.
Ali at his best (in 60s) could defend himself more from these sort of punches as compared to that of late 70s. Ali at his prime was just amazing 😮
Ali had excellent jabs
Its so crazy that "dancing around Shavers" is a way Ali can recover. No heavyweight will ever approach the speed and endurance of Ali. He also genuinely meant his head shake every time Shavers hit him and he shook it off.
Ali was an Old Man taking those Blows from the Hardest Puncher EVER! That INCREDIBLE jaw saved him.
He was 35 wtf are you talking about ? Shavers was 33
Um, the one Ken Norton broke? That's a good way to stop Ali's trash talk
@@thesnare100 You better stop your own trash talk.
*Ali's last best fight was the 3rd fight with Joe Frazier in 1975.* ... after that he was spent... by 1976 his disease started to slow him down.... On April 30, 1976, Ali would fight Jimmi Young and win a controversial unanimous decision. Howard Cosell would remark that he had "never seen Ali so off in his timing".
Even in this match you can see Ali is quite fit... but he doesn't dance as much.
Even then Earnie missed so many times.
What was remarkable is that Ali never hit below the head.
Jimmy Young rightfully lost, imo. People were extremely critical of Ali because of his tactics, but they conveniently forget that Young leaned past the ropes just to avoid Ali’s combinations
I think i was so lucky to be born when i was.. i was able to watch the best boxers of all time ..Earnie Shavers was one of my favorites ..Oddly few people know of him.. A Warren Ohio man..
I'm lucky too at 73. Big time boxing fan since 12 years old. Wanted to be a boxer until the Emile Griffith/Benny "The Kid" Paret fight I watched on TV. I wanted Paret, he died later after the fight.
Great post great fight great fighters.Earnie shavers punched enormously hard. Wham pow boof. However let’s not forget Ali was way over the top at this time of his boxing career. Imagine if it was Ali part one before he was stripped of his title.
The judges' scores were being broadcast live on TV at the end of each round, Angelo Dundee was wise to this and had someone keep an eye on the broadcast and report back the score at the end of every round - so he knew when Ali was ahead and could guide him to do just enough to win.
70' was golden era of boxing...
Ali took all of Shavers best punches and still was dancing to the end. Anyone who believes Shavers won this fight doesn't understand that to take the championship belt you have to do more than land a few good blows
Shut up.
Ali psyched him out by not showing they shook him even though Ali said they did. Ironic that Ali's biggest strength in taking punches also proved to be the weakness in his health. No matter what Ali still the GOAT
Haha those people booing…..let them get in there with Shavers, stand in front of him, and take one of those right hands! People are crazy. Ali did exactly what he should have done.
Ali’s trademark reflexes had long since abandoned him by the time this fight took place. He should have retired much earlier and preserved his health, but the lure of money and the limelight proved to be too much for him to resist.

The Night When Muhammad Ali Challenged the Hardest Puncher in History...... and lose
Ali was the great, won the match by points, although Ali faced the heaviest blows by shever, but remaind successful to make intact his mental and physical strength, so the winer by points in the end.
For this resume Shavers has the majority of all the landed hard punches
If there was a Single Fight that damaged Ali this was it.
According to Parkinson's specialists, Ali started showing signs of the disease before this fight, but it worsened immediately after it
@@shaz2761They say 38 is the time that the damage starts showing up even if You retired years earlier. Ali fought every Heavy Puncher. Fights went 15 Rounds also. I never rooted for Him but He was undoubtedly the Greatest Fighter of My Lifetime thus far.
Muhammad Ali was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, not dementia pugilistica. They're different pathologies. Boxing didn't cause Muhammad's illness.
@@kennethshade6897 They can diagnose Him with anything to make people feel better. It came from getting hit by the heaviest punchers in the World to the head.I guess Jerry Quarry was also diagnosed with Parkinsons
@@kevinmahon7848 So, you know more than neurologists about these things? You're engaging in motivated reasoning.
Took too many fights with big punchers. Foreman. Shavers. Holmes. All took a toal on him. But what an interesting and intelligent man he was. And brave.
Ali was Awesome. Totally Awesome.😎😎😎😎
The fight I feel he never should’ve taken, as he started slurring a lot more after this fight than before it.
Larry Holmes in an interview said in his own words "it was the Ernie Shavers fight that f*cked Muhammad Ali up" and a lot of experts suggested it was that fight as well...
You can pull that interview up on UA-cam, and there's interviews before the Shavers fight to where Muhammad Ali was talking find...
Man, that guy whooped ali ass
However, after this fight ali lost 3 of his next 4 fights and then degenerated to Parkinson's syndrome.
The way I saw it, Ernie Shavers scored more hits. Ernie Won! They judges were paid to give it to ali
It's funny how so many people say shavers won ,when he almost collapsed in the last round, save by the bell,
Go watch the full fight or other highlight videos. This video only shows shavers best moments. Ali had some great moments too which are cut out.
This is the fight that was one too many for Ali.
was 1 of alis toughest fights very close to
The most damage Ali took in a fight was against Frazier in their first fight.
@@eddieworkman5855Nah. Watch Shavers and how many times he shotgun blasted Ali.
Even Holmes said Shavers did it to him, and he was there as Ali's chief sparring partner.
@@denissssss8579nah Thrilla in Manilla was the worst for Ali.
@@thegodfather1924 wrong. He looked great in thrilla in Manila. Ali literally didn’t get hit the first 5 rounds at all. Frazier landed way less left hooks compared to the previous Ali fights. Ali took more damage in both frazier 1 and Frazier 2 fights than in thrilla in Manila. Ali was just very exhausted in thrilla in Manila at the end of the fight that’s why people think he was going to die or something like that lol.
Just love seeing Ali hit with those hard crunching punches. Really nice when Alis head snaps to the side or viciously snaps back.
Wtf
You ain’t even worth the dust on Ali’s shoes. If you don’t appreciate true greatness, don’t watch Ali’s videos.
George foreman vs ernie shavers the dream fight.
A nightmare fight as far as Foreman was concerned. That's why he never faced Shavers. It was no coincidence.
That is a dream fight for sure, also Frazier ve shavers would’ve been epic. Prime foreman would’ve knocked out shavers though for sure.
this fight caused most brain damage of all Ali's fights. after this Ali was never the same.
Walking vegetable
U r so so wrong. Don’t be a fool and don’t talk nonsense. The first Frazier fight is the one that caused the by far biggest damage to Ali. It certainly caused 2x as much damage as this one against shavers.
@@denissssss8579 apparently you’re the wisest, aren’t you 😂
@@denissssss8579Ali and Frazier took a lot of each during that first fight but I think it was actually worse for Frazier than Ali. Frazier only won two more fights after the fight of the century. Ali was definitely slightly punchy after the fight, Ferdie Pacheco spoke about this but for Ali it was the first time he had taken that type of damage.
Ali’s rate of speech declined 16% after the Shavers fight.
@@therealc.t.7085 but Ali was also older on the shavers fight man. His speech could’ve declined even if it was a different opponent. I know u r quoting a study but the study should be taken with a grain of salt man. Why? Because u cant say shavers declined Ali’s speech by 16%, and Frazier 1 fight declined Ali’s speech by 0%. That’s not true.
Boxing Legendary
The fight was a definite win for Ali. You showed highlights and called it fairly even. It wasn’t. Ali out pointed him consistently.
No doubt! Shavers had the overhand right, and thats about it. He always needed space to land it. Even a faded Ali outboxed him, that much is clear to see.
For sure, it was never a close fight. Ali outboxed him in almost all rounds. He was ahead on points. Shavers never had good stamina, thats why he was gassed through last round. Ali would knock him out if there were couple more seconds left in the last round. remember the end of last round
For sure. Ali got caught with some good shots that night but he controlled the other 99% of the fight.
Ali perdeu essa luta
In1969 Cleveland Ohio navy Park arena shavers hit a guy so hard the other fighter went out on a stretcher rip earnie always enjoyed your fights in the golden gloves
The greatest of all times. " I was in a hotel the other night, I shut the light off and was in bed before it was dark"- what a character. RIP Muhammad Ali.
I think he got that line from Satchel Paige.
And never said a curse word.
@@kevinmahon7848 If you're talking about Ali.....he sure did. Right when the Holmes fight started he yelled over to Holmes several times.....I'm going to F_ck you up. It's the only time I've ever heard him talk like that. I think Ali knew before the fight he was done....no way he could win that one. Holmes said later he couldn't believe what was coming out of Ali's mouth. Ali tried to shake him up....but couldn't do it.
@@Gold-oj8do That was Fighter to Fighter in the heat of Battle. I'm talking about in The Promotion of His Fights. Ali could be cruel as He was to Patterson,Terrell and Frazier but there was usually a Hint of Humour. Also Holmes was probably covering up His shame at a Brutal beating He administered to Ali. Later Ali would take aside Mike Tyson and tell Him to beat Holmes as Holmes beat Him.
@@kevinmahon7848 Well.....Ali could be cruel.....no doubt about that. I have never liked the way he treated Joe Frazier. It was just completely wrong. And he even did it after they were both retired from boxing. He was mean to Floyd Patterson and Ernie Terrell because they refused to call him Muhammad Ali. As for Holmes, he asked the referee, Richard Green to stop the fight several times. Green wouldn't do it. If I was Ali I would have never changed my name.....Cassius Clay is a cool sounding name.....and stayed Christian.
The Thrilla In Manila was Ali's toughest fight, but I think this fight did the most damage. Shavers was the LAST fighter he should have fought at this stage of his career (both he and Joe should have walked away after Manila.)
The by far biggest damage to Ali was caused in the first Frazier fight. He took like at least 100 big ass punches, was down in the last round from a big shot and was almost koed in the earlier rounds. This shavers fight is nothing compared to the first Frazier fight. Don’t talk nonsense pls, Frazier did the most damage in their first fight and it probably took the biggest hit on his health, just that it wasn’t noticeable back then since he was so young.
Sometimes I really wonder how ali won his fights?!! His blows seemed weak
For Shavers to hit that hard, I can only think of one thing : bone density.......
IMHO, Ali could've, *should've* retired from the ring after the 3rd Frazier fight. He had nothing left to prove either to his many fans, his opponents or himself. He was slowing & starting to take hits he would've danced away from. His health was surely more important than his standing in world boxing.
Call it what you like but Ali's deterioration into the shell we saw towards the end of his illustrious career was a sad reflection of his inability to look after himself in those later fights.
Earnie Shavers remains one of the hardest punchers in the sport & I have the utmost respect for him.
Ali was finished by this time. Shavers would have gone in 4-5 rounds against Ali at 30 instead of this post Manila version. It's still amazing though how entranced the public was still by his mystique. Years later when he spoke of how hard he was hit in round 2 and how close Shavers was to knocking him out, his coning leg shake and fake, end of round staggering, fooled fans and broadcasters into thinking he was still on top of things. You would have thought they'd have caught on to the act by then. After Norton 3, he was fighting with smoke and mirrors and was very good at it.
I watched the entire fight when it happened and these highlights don't do justice as Ali was always one step ahead adn scored many more punches than Shavers> It was like Shavers was just happy that he proved he could go the distance.
Yes.
U watched it live?

You know when Ali and Foreman that Shavers was the hardest hitter, it makes you take notice
Ernie shaver’s punches are much more deadly than Ali
Ali was virtually impossible to KO , the punishment he could take to save himself from himself was insurmountable.
Photo on this post is incorrect, Ali was never on the floor against Shavers. He took some big shots but stayed up and won the fight. Shavers was an amazing fighter too.
See round 15
Dobio borbu?

Ali was on the floor but he slipped.
Ali isnt dancing he is hurt & running. & for the record ali said nobody hit as hard as shavers
Shavers lit Ali up!He should have won!
Urney SHAVERS. I think I watched this boxing match when fisrt time it was on TV.
One Ernie Shavers punch equals 10 ali punches. Ernie won that fight.
👍👍✅✅💯💯
its called boxing, not punching
the only thing favor puncher insteadbof boxer is the knock out, and ali didn't get knocked
i agree i think ernie was robbed
That's not how you decided who won😂
This guy has only put shavers best hits in the video, Ali was better he has cut his punches out…
This was the fight that caused brain damage to Ali. After his fights was the beginning of is motor skill decline. We being to see slurred speech after this fight.
His slurred speach was begining after Thrilla in Manilla.
@thegodfather1924 maybe. I've seen almost every public video prior to Shavers didn't see any hard evidence. video had dinner without Ali in the 1990s. One thing is clear, it was definitely noticeable after Shavers.
"The night the hardest puncher in history challenged Muhammad Ali" actually
🔥🔥
Si Aguanté los golpes de Foreman los de Ernie Shavers no eran problema ( Muhammad Ali)
After watching this.... searching for mike tyson boxing skills 😂
Bro in this video they showed only that moment of fight in which Ali get punched

Ali still had a lot of skills here. He definitely won this fight. But Shavers scored with a lot of really hard punches. After this fight Ali started to show obvious signs of brain damage.
Ali should retired after Thrilla in Manilla.
ALI was the greatest heavyweight of all time for sure, ALI beat Shavers but took a few big shots it was exciting fight but shouldn't have fought at that age, if he fought shavers earlier In his career ALI would have TKO him maybe between rounds 11-13, Holmes, Berwick fights never should have happen
I've watched the whole fight Ali constantly out pointed shavers and out boxed him and in the later rounds Ali hurt shavers had him staggering and wouldve knocked shavers out if it wasn't for the bell shavers did well in 1 or 2 rounds the rest Ali had him anybody thinking shavers was winning are obviously not watching probably and don't know what they are talking about do yourself a favour and watch the full fight
Ali won by a big margin. I do agree this fight made his health worse.
The late great Reg Gutteridge on commentary.
Ali the Best
ALI HAS BRAINDAMAGE BEFORE THE FIGTH START
I was at the fight and Shavers was good but not quite good enough that night to get the decision. Both fighters had to be helped out of the ring at the end of the fight. Good guy The Acorn, ended up living in Liverpool.
But Ali jab seems so light and simple
Ali fought more killers that would've been champs if he wasn't in there era.
Mohammed ali was a tiger ❤
He had Shavers sagging real bad in that last round even though Ali got hit with some bombs he shook Shavers tree good enough
Kickout Mohammed ali
The problem with one punch knockout boxers is that they rely on that one punch, like Earnie Shavers did.if they can.t hit you with that one punch and knock you out they get frustrated. And forget about defence. As Earnie said because he relyd on that raw power he didn.t work as hard on boxing skills .but the fact remain Earnie whas a hell of a puncher.
I had Shavers winning this one.
Hell no. Ali outboxed him in almost all rounds. He was ahead on points. Shavers never had good stamina, thats why he was gassed through last round. Ali would knock him out if there were couple more seconds left in the last round, remember end of last round
Shavers himself said Ali won
Watch other highlight video man. This UA-camr didn’t put in all Ali’s great moments. He has cut them out.
The Greatest ? Not Even Close ! He was Beaten at Least 6 Times !
Ali was fast but knowone mentions the granite chin he had as well
I would have liked to see Shavers vs Tyson when they were both in their prime.
Shavers vs Foreman would be greatest Slug fest.
Tyson probably wins due to speed advantage.
The "legend" of Shavers "power" has to do with landing a lucky punch against former WBA champ Jimmy Ellis in 1973. Shavers had major stamina issues throughout his career...on his way up...he was beating nobodies and kicking everybody's ass. When he started fighting a better class of fighters ...the KO's went way down! He never carried his power into the later rounds...never had a KO past the 7th round...was a lousy finisher...had a past his prime Ali hurt...he couldn't put him away...had Larry Holmes hurt...he couldn't put him away...Shavers didn't have the knack of coming up with the BIG PUNCH when he needed too....and...he was KO'd in one round by Jerry Quarry!

How many nobodies did little Rocky fight? At least 35 to 40.
Yes Earnie lost to Jerry. What about the 68 losses Walcott Charles Moore had? Or the 68 losses Ted Lowry had? Never wanna discuss those losses though. Double standard.
Hall of Fame trainer Emanuel Steward said, *"Marciano was over-accomplished* (overrated). *He was too small. He really wasn't a Heavyweight. 5' 10" exceptionally short arms, very clumsy, cut easy, had troubled balance. The biggest overachiever in the Heavyweight division. 188 lbs was just too small."* Emanuel was simply stating the facts. Rocky fans are the 'ONLY' fans that don't believe size matters. If size don't matter why hasn't there been (and never will be) another 184 lb Heavyweight champion since little Rocky's little era 3 generations ago?
*@ Emanuel Steward: Ali all time greatest, Klitschko number eight*
Why has Marciano's admission been hidden away for decades? Marciano *"admitted"* he could *"not"* beat prime Louis, Ali, Liston! This information is huge and settles any and all debates as to who could beat who! According to Marciano himself, Muhammad Ali would have won. Rocky said three boxers in his lifetime were a bridge too far for him, a young Joe Louis, Sonny Liston, and Ali. Louis for hand speed and power, Ali for pure speed, and Liston for technical excellence and pure brute strength. --by Mike Stanton and Fight City
So it's true, Rocky really wasn't that good and his competition confirmed as much. Who did he fight? Walcott was 40, Moore 42, Charles had ALS and Louis was washed. If only Ali retired before this fight. Prime Ali would’ve toyed with shavers.
Perhaps you were around then, I doubt it but possible. I was around and I paid attention to what was going on. There's no question Ali won the fight but what is the reason that he won or the primary reason. Ernie Shavers was controlled by people who did not spend a lot of time and effort in training compared to Mohammed Ali camp. He didn't have the resources that others had and he still was in my opinion along with George Foreman a formidable opponent. The entire package starting with training and the ability to not actually work a job at the same time plays into these kinds of things. Sometimes people lose fights not because of their inability to fight but because of what took place before the fight began. I won money on Alis first fight and I was a supporter of his all along until he ducked the draft. Elvis Presley didn't, Clint Eastwood didn't etc. It's fine to find a fight and add your own commentary but if you live through the time there was a lot more to these fights than you ever realized. For instance when he fought Joe Fraser, he constantly pulled his head down when he tied him up which is an illegal move. Had I've been in Fraser's corner I would've advised him if he pull your head down hit him below the belt and drill him hard.
Ali should have retired much earlier. Yes, lure of money did compel him to continue and so he ended up damaged to his head/brain ,and having PARKINSON's DISEASE.
❤
Shavers was smart i think
We love mohamad ali 🇵🇰
Does anyone think Shavers looks like Marvin Hagler if he was a heavyweight?
The only problem Aly had was 99.9% of his punches were fired to the head. Almost none to Zero punch to the body.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I'm not so sure Ali won this fight.
Watch the full fight instead of shortcut.Ali won fairly this fight.
Ali won the fight
You got it wrong, it was the night when the hardest puncher in history challenged Muhammad Ali
ali may have won against shavers but shavers deffinitly was close to beating him
Contrary to the title, Ali isn't the challenger here. This is the night Shavers (unsuccessfully) challenged Ali.
Shavers was robbed!
In light of what a mess Ali was physically in his last several years, I've always wondered just who the Rope-A-Dope was.
Stop Talking bulshit Ali won fairly this match.
@@thegodfather1924 Ali took an awful beating in many of his fights everyone knows that. He didn't have Parkinson's in his latter years, he was punch drunk.
👍💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
Wilder would get knocked out by both of these fighters. Wilder is not the hardest puncher in history Forman or Shavers both punch way harder. For some reason, they build Wilder up.
Ali had already won the fight by 13th round. Shavers needed a KO to win. This video is as inaccurate as it can get.
Ali lo único que ganó fueron golpes en contra y el Parkinson se acercaba
The scoring on this fight was inaccurate. A lot of people in Madison Square Garden thought Shavers won. MSG said afterwards that they would never again host an Ali fight. He got beat up in this fight. Might have won this battle but lost the war
Mohammed ali greatest of all time
Ali took way too many big right hands from Shavers. When I saw it the first time I felt that Shavers had won. Ali was resilient but his Parkinson's must have come from this fight and a few others near the end of his career.
For such a "hard puncher" it seems Shavers was usually the one being counted over or losing his big fights.
he didnt have good technic or strategy,
for a hardest puncher, he didnt possess hardest defense
Shavers lacked stamina also
Ali just touches him while the opponent hits so he falls backwards.
Was he a king or??
Had the fight contnued for the next round Ali would have knocked out shavers.
Dain Bramage.
No dough as Ali won the fight, even though ern shaver hit strong punch but ali had combination of punch
did you mean "cassius clay" ?
In order to beat a champion most , of the time you gotta knockout that champion out , Ali was going to win regardless just because
