I was out in Sand Hollow in June, the day after a sandstorm. I had no tracks to follow and my gps quit working when I got on the other side of Top of the World. But I've got a good sense of direction and knew that I wasn't far from the reservoir and if I could find the water, I'd be able to get back. But it was an alien landscape to this guy from the Ohio River Valley!
Seldom do we get to see the lovely Jaymie "getting them out"! Nice job Jaymie! Her personal "get em out motto"? "In a mess? Don't stress! I'll get you out! Even in a dress"!! Excellent job Team MORR!
"No, it won't get stuck." Famous last words! LOL Sounds like Rudy was impressed with the big wrecker. Kinda surprised how easily it pulled that big Ford diesel and trailer out of the sand. Thanks for the video!
On that first pull with the wrecker, it just barely grunted and out came the pickup and trailer. What a beast it is! Great that you're training everyone else to take your place when the need arises. Good to see Rudy working with you too. Thanks for the video.
Pretty cool seeing Rudy drive the worlds largest offroad wrecker for the first time - after seeing him weld together the very first parts of the frame! And I like the look of terror on Matts face when he's in the co-pilot seat, but if he was in the pilots seat - doing the same things - he'd be cool as a cucumber!
That Raptor Baja should be a trail beast instead of stuck in the soft sand. Maybe Matt could give the Ford owner some advice to air down them tires when in the sand. That rig should have a built in compressor for how much it cost! Love seeing they way they work together. The family moments in these videos are outstanding! ♥
I've heard Matt say several times that a bald tire is better in the Sand than new off-road tires. Have you ever tried using snow skins in the sand. That would be a smooth surface all the way around the tire. I don't know if you could get them on in the sand but if you have them on already, maybe you could run through the sand easy. Might be worth trying for a video.
Even when they have a little trouble, it just takes a re-rig or a few extra yanks and they end up "getting them out" anyway. More gadgets to make things a little easier would just be more stuff to forget at the shop.
I have basically the same Ford truck as that white truck, but mine is a 2019 with the differential 4H/4L shifter on the floor. It never not work. The next year, 2020, they went to the knob on the dash, and that knob has it's own opinion if it wants to work that day.
I got a 2011. Vacuum actuated hubs are problematic so if I think I might need 4wd I just manually lock them ahead of time. Also, the 6.7 is a beast but very heavy
