Jack crevalle is a pretty good fish when you smoke it and have the right seasoning. It tastes almost like smoked mullet. Both are pretty decent when smoked with Buttonwood.
On a day where there are no better keepers I'll bring home a few small Jack Crevalle. Bleed them and remove all the red bloody meat on the skin side of the filets. The light colored meat works well in a poached or baked recipe. Another UA-camr says to boil it and eat it like canned tuna. I've never tried that method.
Jacks are mushy. The best way to eat them is as a fish dip . fillet, smoke the filets with the skin on, scoop the meat out, mix it with cream cheese and a little olbay. It's good stuff.
Try Jack again .... BUT ..... bleed it , filet , soak in milk and Italian dressing overnight and grill it ...................... TRY IT THAT WAY !!!!!!
see here's the biggest problem regarding "trash" fish. all i ever see out of people is they fry their fish in oil. that's all people do is fry it in oil. which is great for some fish but not EVERY GODDAMN FISH. that crevalle jack looks really oily and fatty just judging by the color of the meat. WHY ARE YOU FRYING IT IN MORE OIL AND FAT. for example, bluefish sucks ass fried in oil. it's a very oily and fatty fish, but i think it's great grilled. do something different with it and you might be pleasantly surprised. or hell, you might hate it. that's fine too but damn soap box dismantled
Not wild about Jacks. I've eaten them but did not enjoy it. I caught it, I bled it, I filet ted it and did not like it. Ate it within minutes on the beach.completely Meh. As far as edible, hell Aunt Susie's ...never mind
Enjoyed your videos much better before you decided to share them with 2 other people and there wives taping you tube videos. IMO dosen't flow well your better just making fishing videos.

Glad to see Yak finally make a video that is at least remotely about fishing
Try it blackened or smoked, my opinion is that is the best way to eat these.

You are supposed to marinate a Jack fish overnight with fresh garlic sea salt and lemon juice before frying the following day.

Yes it tastes like tuna. I eat it that way like a jack sandwich

You are confusing jacks with Lady Fish, jacks are not mushy at all
It doesn't help that Brent cooked it to death. You need to try it cooked just right without over cooking it.
That was my thought. Probably over cooked it. Fish should not have a chicken texture. That is over cooked.
Try soaking it in ice water with about a table spoon of baking soda per gallon of water.
Didn't you do a catch and cook alligator? Can't find it.
Well, Jack did say it had been in the cooler for "a while" with no mention of if there was any ice remaining.
We need a truth about Yak Motley next.
Jack eating a jack lol😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.
Love the videos! #SPURS UP!
Would grilled or smoked be better?
I'm grilling some blackened red fish 2night, it's not the best I've eaten but I got a couple left in the freezer.
In Hawaii the call the little ones Papio and the large ones Ulua, considered a delicious.
Good Post Keep up the fish Fun !
Cross vlogging to the max
I like that fillet knife, what and where can I get one?
dunno lol
@@YakMotley if you soak that Jack cravalle in whiskey, drink the whiskey and throw the jack away!
You can buy the knife from toadfish
To get the real taste of any fish, try it with salt only. The other spices disguise the natural flavor. You can always go from there afterwards
Cooked up a big jack last summer. Don't really disagree. Not great, but not bad either.
Taking a chance for new things. I knew it had to be not a favorite for you to make it a star.
You need to take the road trip with them Yak.....
OK help this old North Central Texas boy. What is a hard tail?
I did it once, only once. It wasn’t terrible just weird.
Hey, Jack your startin to get closer to fish again. We’ll get ya back. One question, where’s Sam?
U gotta soak it in milk overnight and it’s delicious
Black drum is awesome.
The beach is not a bayou. Call them, beach jerky.
y'all forgot the lemon juice
I heard it's not bad
I heard that Canadians love jacks.
Soak em in buttermilk next time.
Try Jack again .... BUT ..... bleed it , filet , soak in milk and Italian dressing overnight and grill it ...................... TRY IT THAT WAY !!!!!!
I’m cooking the next one I catch.
Ron is so funny
They do have a fishy taste to them. Its not bad. I think its better blackened...
Much better smoked and used In fish dip
Ill eat anything that doesn't move or stare back at me. If I'm really hungry, those rules dont apply! 😁

Landshark guy eats The jack crevalle and everyone likes it.
👍
There are waaaaaaay too many other good fish out there to be eating Jacks. You might as well eat a carp😎
Bet you haven’t tried either.
@@nickleback3695 Bet you would be wrong
IMHO, Jack Crevalles are better than Kingfish.
That pork beats the Jack Crevalle hands down.
You eat heath cliff but scared to eat jack??? 😂😂😂😂😂😊
So now we know... edible, but wouldn't buy it, kinda, maybe... I dunno. 🤔😳😖😝😈🎣
Bluefish is the nastiest.
