When i left the Army a few years back and first moved here i was clueless about saltwater fishing, i messed around and hooked into one of those 20-25 pounders in the bay on a 3500 size reel. After about 45 minutes i got that dude in, released and dang near passed out on the deck of my boat 😂
The army didn't disable me old age did I did get hert in basic but I can't prove it so I do like to go fishing although I haven't been able to for over 26 or so years and here in Florida there are so meny factors in it what's legal what can hert you who can hert you or try I am army although I am old I can still hold my own I would just love to go fishing sometime before it's over but here in Florida in don't know anyone I have been here for about 9 years owell it is what it is anyway thank you for your comment have a great day me the babbling fool they called me animal when I drove a big truck
That second jack is much bigger than the first one. Awesome catch, the surprise of the was that gaff sail on the popper, that was nuts!!! Great video, keep them coming!!!
Bama thank you very much for bringing back the memories to this old man when I was in Florida. Those jacks are the best fighting and best eating fish going. You made me laugh cause I know exactly how your arms felt! Thanks
Do the jacks have worms like the big drums and what do they tast like I am an army veteran and I am now old and disabled I can't work anymore but I love to go fishing and I have only had the opportunity to go fishing once in 27 years I used to work in a retirement home and then I drove a big truck for some time on the road for three to four months at a time now I live in Florida and am very unfamiliar with anything here I have lived here for 9 years and can't afford to hire a guide but I would truly love to go fishing some before my time is over here signed babblings of a fool I used to write poetry and that is how I signed it thank you for sharing you are very informative and I would rather watch you then a lot of others thanks again for your service and all that you do hoorah
They can sometimes but most I catch do not. They are similar to a tuna but a little more oily, we like to cook them a well done vs rare. They aren't bad, they aren't great.
Man....catfish on top water, can say that has never happened to me before. My wife did catch a sheepshead on a gotcha plug before. Gotta love the hits that come when your not looking.
We hit a big school of jacks on the rig off of fort Morgan and my son got a 25-30 pounder. I could get them to chase my lure but they wouldn’t bite it.
They are edible, not my favorite fish of all time to eat, but I'd call them an off brand tuna steak haha. Fillet the top loin, add seasoning and sear on both sides like a steak. They're okay.
@@BamaSaltwater Thanks. The only ramps on my side of the bay that are that nice are usually so crowded as to be unusable. Wish we had a few more on the West side.
This is what I kinda like to do...watch others actually catch fish because I don't. The water here in Fort Myers is not exactly where fish wanna be...I dont have a boat so fishing off shore doesn't get me too many results.😢😢😢
Cant remember the last cat Ive had on top water. Its hard to beat a fight with a nice Jack with medium gear tho. They give you a workout dont they! Just asking is your boat a Scout 175 Sport? How far do you get offshore? I got the 192 (second hand 13 years old) last week. Still getting used to it - remote control,GPS etc etc. Ive gone 10 miles and seemed easy enough. But just wondered.
@@BamaSaltwater Thanks for that. I know the 195 is a little bigger and a 150 engine but most of my fishings inshore. Jetty/Beach/Surf/Grass. But it would be nice to go out in some deeper Blue stuff after some tasty stuff. Gotta give it a try!

Sad the Army disabled you but thankful you’re not letting it defeat you. We appreciate your service. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸. Great video !!!

Hello, from England. No Jacks here but that was a lovely fish.

Where is that launch ramp located?
Gulf Shores

I will never understand catch and release, you mean to tell me you fought that hard just to throw him back in the water.. that's turkey dinner!😂😂😂

It’s a Scout 177 Sport. I’ve taken it 17 miles out before . It has to be decently calm to not get beat up offshore but it’s doable

Have u ever eaten on
Yes, my brother and I used to eat them all of the time. We cook it similar to tuna, just a little longer. They aren't great, they aren't bad.
That frog definitely got run over that day 😂
