20:57 honestly i want a FULL Puppet History episode about Alice Roosevelt, that woman was so fucking badass. She was a teenager when her dad became president, and was in full wild child mode for his entire presidency. There’s even a story about her burning an effigy of the next First Lady on the White House lawn as her dad was leaving office. She was insanely independent and free willed, to the point where she once burst in on a Cabinet Meeting and after she left one of Teddy’s aides was like “could you maybe control her a little” and Teddy said “I can either run this country, or I can control Alice, I cannot do both”.
She also has one of the best quotes I live by: "If you haven't got anything nice to say about anybody, come sit next to me."
Alice Lee Roosevelt was fun. She used to smoke on the White House roof, kept a pet snake named Emily Spinach in her purse, and was famous for her wit. She had a pillow embroidered with the words, "If you don't have anything nice to say, come sit next to me."
Huh, I was thinking the same when I saw her - a whole episode COULD be done about her. But honestly, I’d rather have one of Teddy Roosevelt. Alice was a jerk and a self serving spoiled brat who liked to pee in the punch bowl (metaphorically speaking) to get attention. Nothing she did took effort or commitment to making someone else’s life better. She had fame, fortune and good looks yet she didn’t do or accomplish anything good and worthwhile. Just a few weeks ago I hiked through Teddy Roosevelt Natl. Park in ND and Yellowstone in Montana and really was feeling huge heaps of appreciation and respect for that TR. Teddy’s story is supposedly well known, but I don’t think well known enough and...it’s so fascinating, it never gets old.
The Albanian Lorg i mean. Teddy did, ya know, heavily contribute to American neo-colonialism in some really horrible ways and Alice chose to not be very politically active. Probably because she was really annoyed by the political world, and how “noble” and genteel women in politics were meant to act. She seemed like the kind of person who hated being told that she couldn’t be herself, and i personally respect that a lot. And as funny and heroic as Teddy’s antic seem from a historical lens, i wonder how Alice reacted to times when her dad would blatantly risk his own life “for his country”. Like. Imagine knowing your dad was going to make a big political speech, learning he was shot at the beginning, and then continued giving the speech for another half hour. Having Teddy Roosevelt as a dad was probably stressful as hell, and I can completely understand not wanting to be a super public figure in politics after growing up like that.

Shockingly I just found this channel when I was searching 4 Unsolved Mysteries what an absolute score. Have been binging for days. I couldn't agree more as a matter of fact it's a big part what makes this series absolute genius. I'm even starting to forget that he's the voices of the paper puppets. Sometimes I even forget the paper puppets aren't real. LMAO
After the season 4 finale, I thought it would be fun to go back through the other videos and find out the real scores in each to see if Ryan actually won any. This will be focused on the points won during the questions only, not the extra points the professor gives out or takes away willy-nilly.

Can I just say during a year that is just the worst, and seeing other shows try to adapt to the times, it is simply amazing that this show continues to just produce such high quality content and entertainment. It has managed to not lose an ounce of what makes it great while also having to pivot to a virtual model. Thank you for the big laughs during these troubling times.
True! As a big history buff myself, I'm so happy the show has not changed even though it's online. I also love Puppet History because it looks at really old history topics! Plus, this musical theater nerd loves some good show tunes.

I second this and I would also like to throw in wu zetian: a concubine who schemed her way up to becoming china’s only female emperor. Lots of really interesting facts about her as well. (One fun fact is that her tomb is shaped like a giant pair of tiddies.)
This is a great episode idea! She was also fictionalised in one of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies so it would be cool to share more about her life.
