If they keep the professor as a larger puppet, I hope they progressively make him bigger over time until he's just Shane in a blue man fur suit and becomes an absolute nightmare
Fun fact(or maybe not as fun?): Adolphe Sax outlived his siblings, despite his own parents thinking he'd die at a young age. Another fun nickname for him was "Sax, the Little Ghost", because he was in so many situations that should have killed him, but didn't. Another one that should have killed him: he slowly suffocated in a recently varnished room because he was sleeping in it. He lived, of course, but its still nutty!
Fun fact: if you listen closely during the section where The Professor is talking about the various ways Adolphe almost died as a child, the instrumental from Death’s song is playing in the background

lowkey miss the old professor puppet 😢 there was a funny element to how inexpressive he was (without the eyebrows) and i loved his lil hat. happy to have puppet history back nonetheless!
If I recall, the original was a base puppet that Shane modified, with doll clothes he bought, so this might be a move to have a more "distinctive" look. On the other hand, those Professor plushies are selling like hotcakes, they're still using the OG puppet for visuals, and it's likely hologram prof is coming back, so it's possible that the old puppet will still show up. Third point: Yes change is jarring but don't forget someone at Watcher either designed or made this new one, and we just watched a whole episode about a guy getting flak for making something new.
Fully choosing to believe all the incidents from his childhood was one of the people in his hate club learning how to travel back in time specifically to mess with him until he can’t make the saxophone.
I can't believe that I only just noticed that during the description of the final destination loop they have death's song from the black death episode playing in the background. Absolute perfection, amazing attention to detail.
As a puppeteer- I’m so inlove with the professors new look!! Madison did a incredible job(assuming it was her since she’s done the rest of the builds!) !! Hopefully one day the proff will get arm rods and be able to interact with the world more
i was worried it would take me a long time to get used to the new professor bc i rewatch puppet history like crazy, but i think his new size and design really lends to the theatrics of everything and makes him come alive more. I do however, want the hat back
I read a post on Tumblr about this guy's almost-deaths, and someone theorised that they were all masterminded by a time traveller who hated the saxophone.
Ok but what if the guys from Association of United Instrument Makers were the ones to figure out time travel just to get rid of this guy and even then they fail That would be some doofenshmirtz kind of suff (and I choose to believe it's canon now)
I would like to believe that each near-death was contrived by different iterations of time travelers, and truly did kill Sax, but then, groups of time travelers from the horrible futures caused by the lack of Sax went back in time to ensure his death never happened, again... and again... and again.
Adolphe Sax also invented the modern euphonium and tuba. That thing Ryan said about the bell pointing up is actually correct. He also made some of them with the bell pointing backwards so the army could hear it while marching. The brass instruments he made were called saxhorns and they’re pretty much all of the instruments in the modern American marching band.
@@LittleMissLounge In my experience, band kids. Had a band kid friend who screamed my name before giving me a running tackle hug. The theater kids were more under the surface feral. It really didn't come out until they were on stage. Both groups were stupid horny though.
"I was warning you about the dangers of a pandemic" "And I laughed at it" "YEAH YOU DID, YA PIECE OF SHIT" Not even 2 minutes in and already The Professor craves violence
Yay! New Puppet History with Steven! I hope Kate gets a new episode this season. She wasn't in the last one, which is probably for the best. I still don't think anyone told her about The Professor dying.
Also, because hologram-Professor rigged last season so Ryan would win each time, Kate has never lost yet! It's totally for the best, even if we missed her. But yes hopefully she returns this season to the new and improved (and alive) Professor!
I know, I love the three of them together and not just on watcher weekly. Ryan and Shane sort of merge their personalities into one and then torment Steven who is always such a good sport.
Also I love that the convo in the episode implies that the 3 founders of Watcher are Ryan, Steven and The Professor, rather than Ryan, Steven and Shane as it is commonly believed. XD
As a band kid, all the way from elementary school through college, this Puppet History really warms my heart. I love the band kid energy from Steven as well
The whole thing with the tumor on Sax's lip was so interesting. My mom would tell basically anyone she knew who had cancer (which was, unfortunately, a hell of a lot of people) to try this particular tea along with their normal treatment. Weirdly, she had a lot of anecdotal evidence that it may have helped. I have truly no idea how that would even be possible or what the science behind it would be if it were a real thing, but hearing about Sax's tumor going away was like a flashback to my mom buying this tea for my aunt. Shit's wild.
I'm really curious about that too. I'm wondering if what Sax had was not a cancerous tumor in the way that we would define it today, but instead some kind of giant cyst, hence why the herbal remedy worked so well. (That, and western "medicine treatments" in the mid-1800's was....... hit-or-miss to put it lightly)
@@MissPuppy468 yeah, I wonder about that, too (being a cyst, that is). I don't really know what kind of herbal remedies could actually help with that, but it's interesting to think about the potential science of it, providing it's real. It might have been some mixture of natural anti-inflammatories that helped his immune system to fight it off on its own or something. Either way, I gotta stand by my initial assessment: shit's wild.
@kanarules777 @caitlynramdat8978 I asked my mom, and it's called essiac tea. I looked it up, and it seems like you can get it from a bunch of different places; back in the day, there was exactly one website you could buy it from which was run by the lady who created it. The patent must have expired. Again, don't know if it's legit, but the survival rate of people she gave it to was encouraging. I also remember that the original had very specific instructions for brewing it. You had to do it in large batches and you couldn't use any plastic or wooden utensils or any coated pots/pans; it had to be stainless steel or I think ceramic??? And same with the container you stored it in- no plastic, just glass or ceramic. Why that would matter, I can't say, but just an FYI if you're going to try it.
I initially read this video's title as "The Unlikeable Weirdo Who Invented The Saxophone" and thought to myself, "Yeah saxophonist, that probably checks out." I'm standing behind my dyslexia's correctness on this one.
It took me reading this comment to go back and read unkillable and not unlikeable. I was reading thru and was like “but it is unlikeable” then it wasn’t at all.
Death's song from the first episode playing in the background while talking about how Sax almost died a bunch of times in childhood is such an underrated detail

They're back, and bigger than ever! And everything is so wholesome! The controversial Cup has been done with, the Algo-Matic is in the trash, the musical guests are mildly less sinister, and the Dino-Parents pass a much more kind jugement on the victor...s! And he died at almost 80 to just Pneumonia...which compared to his life...was like nothing
@@demonangel918 That be like surviving a bombing, and then later on in life dieing from a bad sinus infection.
lowkey miss the old professor puppet 😢 there was a funny element to how inexpressive he was (without the eyebrows) and i loved his lil hat. happy to have puppet history back nonetheless!
Same! The old professor‘s fur looked softer to pet 🥹
Big same!! He was so small, and his tiny satchel?! aww. Miss it.
SAME :(
@@Whatlanderoh shit, that’s a good point. somehow i missed the entire point.
the professor calling ryan his best friend was the cutest thing ever for me 🥺
Steven has the air of a parent who is doing his best to be supportive and I'm here for it.
Fully choosing to believe all the incidents from his childhood was one of the people in his hate club learning how to travel back in time specifically to mess with him until he can’t make the saxophone.
Honestly that makes sense in a bizzare way.
Woah 🤯
I can't believe that I only just noticed that during the description of the final destination loop they have death's song from the black death episode playing in the background. Absolute perfection, amazing attention to detail.
As a puppeteer- I’m so inlove with the professors new look!! Madison did a incredible job(assuming it was her since she’s done the rest of the builds!) !! Hopefully one day the proff will get arm rods and be able to interact with the world more
I too want to see the Professor Muppetized :)
according to the description, it was made by a company called dlux puppets!! they make puppet theater shows
Never thought I would be treating my insomnia by watching a belly button recital.
It would be fire to see Ryan play his navel while bellydancers back up dance.
Read this as he literally started tapping his lil belly button 😂😂😂😂❤
You just described me rn 😅😂

*raises hand*
i was worried it would take me a long time to get used to the new professor bc i rewatch puppet history like crazy, but i think his new size and design really lends to the theatrics of everything and makes him come alive more. I do however, want the hat back
The wordplay in this tiny puppet theater hit another stage 🥹
So happy the professor is back for another season of learning!
Thank you thank you thank you for the next chapter!

I read a post on Tumblr about this guy's almost-deaths, and someone theorised that they were all masterminded by a time traveller who hated the saxophone.
Anyone else imagine a montage of his near ends with Who Can It Be Now by Men at Work playing?
@@oceanoflotion8630they had yet to realize that they cant change the pasts outcome, no matter how hard they tried
Ok but what if the guys from Association of United Instrument Makers were the ones to figure out time travel just to get rid of this guy and even then they fail
That would be some doofenshmirtz kind of suff (and I choose to believe it's canon now)
I would like to believe that each near-death was contrived by different iterations of time travelers, and truly did kill Sax, but then, groups of time travelers from the horrible futures caused by the lack of Sax went back in time to ensure his death never happened, again... and again...
Damn! Thanks for the added info!
this guy was a music making badass fr omg
The guy really did account for a lot of factors when making them
I’m a euphoniumist and just happy to be included 😂
Every time Ryan makes bellybutton noises, it's giving "is mayonnaise an instrument?" 😂
“Band kids are feral” is one of the most accurate statements I have EVER heard!! 😂
Maybe that's why I quit band. Not nearly feral enough.
Who's more feral, though: thespians or band kids?
@@LittleMissLounge In my experience, band kids. Had a band kid friend who screamed my name before giving me a running tackle hug. The theater kids were more under the surface feral. It really didn't come out until they were on stage. Both groups were stupid horny though.

Yay! New Puppet History with Steven! I hope Kate gets a new episode this season. She wasn't in the last one, which is probably for the best. I still don't think anyone told her about The Professor dying.
It would’ve broke her heart 😊
I literally want it to be like she never knew what happened and was like hey professor you look different.
@@MissSavannie Like replacing a child's dead goldfish with a completely new fish and pretending it's the same.
Also, because hologram-Professor rigged last season so Ryan would win each time, Kate has never lost yet! It's totally for the best, even if we missed her. But yes hopefully she returns this season to the new and improved (and alive) Professor!
I thoroughly enjoy when all 3 Watcher founders are together, pure chaos ensues 😂😂😂 please more Steven content! 🙏🏽
This is the fastest I’ve clicked on a video in a while
I know, I love the three of them together and not just on watcher weekly. Ryan and Shane sort of merge their personalities into one and then torment Steven who is always such a good sport.
Steven Lim being the emotionally distraught bartender is one of my favorite performances ever. ❤️
What do you mean, Shane wasn’t there🌚
Also I love that the convo in the episode implies that the 3 founders of Watcher are Ryan, Steven and The Professor, rather than Ryan, Steven and Shane as it is commonly believed.

Well shoot don't be shy drop the recipe/what type of tea
@@kanarules777 frrr, pls
Damn I guess the professor wasn’t the only unkillable weirdo
I mean to be fair the Professor very much did die like I get what you‘re saying but that‘s definitely a thing what happened
I initially read this video's title as "The Unlikeable Weirdo Who Invented The Saxophone" and thought to myself, "Yeah saxophonist, that probably checks out." I'm standing behind my dyslexia's correctness on this one.
Well. Didn’t realize I’d read it wrong until I saw this and had to do a triple take to figure out how your interpretation was incorrect.
Ok so we all read it wrong the first couple times. It took this comment for me to see that the title said unkillable not unlikeable
It took me reading this comment to go back and read unkillable and not unlikeable. I was reading thru and was like “but it is unlikeable” then it wasn’t at all.
I double checked the title after reading this comment-
at first I thought you were trippin... but it was me
As someone who studied composition, that song at the end about the failed prototype was so damn good. I can't deal with how good it is.

Sax suffering brain damage as a child makes entirely too much sense.

I gotta admit that I avoided this series thinking a puppet show for adults seemed odd, to say the least, but I'm glad I decided to check it out. Immediately recognizing Shane was the madman behind the puppet got me interested, and turns out he's actually insanely good at it. Looking up at the ceiling and putting his little foot out there, fucking hilarious. That song was also extremely well produced, which was certainly unexpected, but hats off to the team, it was pretty glorious.

So much change in this episode! Ryan and the professor have a whole new dynamic, the new (and lovely) professor puppet and no more coveted cup! I'll miss that last one. I actually gave my friend a coveted cup of jellybeans for Christmas. We are both big fans of the show!
I literally spent ten minutes at the grocery store gushing to my mum about how excited I am that this show isn't over 😂
They're back, and bigger than ever! And everything is so wholesome! The controversial Cup has been done with, the Algo-Matic is in the trash, the musical guests are mildly less sinister, and the Dino-Parents pass a much more kind jugement on the victor...s! I can't imagine anything unpleasant developing in the dumpster where all those malicious electronics were dumped without a second thought or close examination to ensure they were disposed of properly! Can't wait to see what else we learn about in the coming weeks!
