"Going for Ice Cream" I think is a holdover from the days when you couldn't keep ice cream in home ice boxes. If you wanted ice cream you had to walk to the store or go get a cone. It was the ultimate reward for a job well done.

Actually, 2016 was the most consequential election of our lifetimes. That's when one administration ripped the guardrails off and hordes merrily plunged off the cliff behind them, too stupid and unaware that they are - and continue to bring about the end of the American experiment.
Thing is that the Democratic party would prefer to lose to the Republicans than win with a leftist. So TO THEM the loss of democracy either doesn't exist or it is far less worrying to them than doing something leftwing. Where did the DNC court leftwing and progressive votes? Never. What happens when you slag off and insult leftwing and progressives? They don't vote. So what the DNC did before the 2020 elections is promise a lot of lefting policies, and after the election renege on most of their policies. And today they claim that democracy is on the line instead, and still don't do leftwing policies they promised.

I like how Seth Myers credits his writers and makes them part of the show, and also has a lot of social media interaction that resulted in his segment 'Corrections'.
Since Covid, he has become my favourite & I like that they used that time to let the show evolve without going back to 'normal'.
I agree Colbert has a good team & his delivery is good, but I sometimes think the format now feels a lot more formulaic, with an older average target audience than other late night shows now.
I still watch, I still enjoy most of it, but it's pretty old school.
"there is no one with a quicker wit" - I don't know about that. I thought Reagan saying "missed me" in 1987 showed remarkably quick wit, especially for someone in his situation.

Sarah Gray I was the first HS class to be able to vote. I was so excited and I knew exactly what party I wanted to be and who I wanted to vote for. It was so ingrained in my upbringing. The other kids were looking at the ballot asking, what's the difference between Dem and Rep? Some kids voted for someone because they were good looking. Every vote counts is right but that doesn't mean every vote is going to go the way you want it to go. Sadly.

The Electoral College does not have to go the will of the majority of people. (weird antiquated system that is)>not known in other democracies that are real democracies that go by majority of votes. Had that been practiced in the U.S., T* would have never got in...losing to H.C. by 3 million votes. So, T* never had many votes. H.C. had more votes than him and Biden had 7million more votes than T*. T* has always been a loser.
