- President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday put responsibility on parliament to negotiate a broad coalition reflecting France's "republican institutions" to break the stalemate following an inconclusive snap election. However, the left was "not happy at all with what President Macron had to say". The New Popular Front feels that President Macron is "basically making a non-democratic move" and is trying to "steal their victory". FRANCE 24 reporter Clovis Casali explains.

Why doesn't he declare himself emperor?

Have you forgotten he said is Jupiter.
Can't they reach out and form a coalition government? There's nothing undemocratic about it.
Easy in theory, very difficult in practice as they have very different platforms and objectives.
They seem to be of the impression that they have the majority (they don't)
Well, in principle, a broad coalition, consisting of the left-wing alliance/bloc and the center-right alliance/coalition (but WITHOUT the right-wing conservative "Les Républicains"), and headed by a Socialist, would be possible/could work; it's both, Mélanchon, and Macron that (for whatever reason) are holding back.
The New Popular Front is free to form a coalition to make a government. Just like any other party is free to do that. And isn't that what Macron is asking? Nobody has a majority so a coalition needs to be formed to do anything at all? Makes perfect sense to me.
The point NPF is making is that since they received the most votes they should be included into the ruling coalition because they represent the highest percentage of voters and that's why they see the efforts by Macron to exclude them as antidemocratic. If it is undemocratic or not one could argue, but it is obvious that Macron is playing dirty here trying to split the NPF.
Preventing the right from geting a majority and helping Macron govern are two seperate issues.
RN is the winner in all of this chaos. Opposition is the place to be
No. RN was the 3rd. The last. The worst.
@@perseuspersikus6830 What? Maybe you didn't understand. I'm saying they WILL benefit from this chaos. It always helps the opposition when the folks in power are in chaos. That's what I meant.
@@perseuspersikus6830 the Marxists had to join together about 5 parties and still got less votes than RN 😅😅
@@spg5658 Except.. . right now, nobody is in power. At least not in parlement. But right now, there is no opposition as there is no government.
Agreed. They hopefully will stay out of the fray while this coalition eats itself alive and proves just how unfit it is to govern. Meanwhile, I hope they bide their time well until 2027. Time will tell, of course...
Off course he played the left and everyone else
Uh oh, there goes another French Republic 😏🇫🇷
Jupiter is rising but the fall will be bloody.
Now explain to me again, how is France a democratic society if citizen votes do not make a difference?
