This episode should be called "What Makes Rick Beato Great". Excellent interview, what a knowledgable and interesting guy.
This is great. I know their format is "The Captain meets whoever" but it would be cool if they changed this one.
RIck should do a video on "What Makes a Music Store Great". Seriously, I've been in hundreds of music instrument stores and some of them have been absolutely fantastic and others complete dogs. I would love to see a great video on the breakdown of what the big differences are.
Ringo is my favorite Beato...
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
And mine. Ringo.
Ha ha ha ha. Beato is my favourite Beato
PRAISE RANGUS 🙏
Hahaha
The ultimate crossover of two of my favorite channels! 🇺🇸🇬🇧
Me2
Beato is not american tho
@@maspesasmasperras5554 That’s a view, I suppose. 😂
@@maspesasmasperras5554 He is North America😉
I know!❤
I knew Rick was in the UK after watching him visit Abby road Studios, but didn't presume to think
we'd see him on the channel. great stuff Lee
He actually standing in for James O Brien on LCB all week.
If I knew he was going to be at Andertons I'd have gone to meet him, Only live the next town over.
AbbEy Road. FFS. Does every Zoomer make this mistake??
@@Thisworldthisweek "Hi. I'm Rick Beato and this week we're going to be talking about 'what makes this politician an asshole?'" That would be great.
@@Thisworldthisweek oscillation, dicordance and ringtone...
Just in case i'm misundertood, James O'Brien kicks ass.
Can't wait for a GB News, talkradio, Daily Mail/Express bot to come-a-running.
It’s Rick’s goal to appear on literally every other music YT channel now 🤣
I hear you but the reality is he has a massive following & in many ways he’s spreading love & awareness for these smaller channels just by being in them - he will pull his crowd in & that can’t be bad 😎👍
Pat Finnerty would have him on (BEATO!)
@Plan Zed .2 Rest assured, He Loves you with all his heart. & there's NOTHING he won't do for you... Seriously.
Has he appeared on Norman's Rare Guitar yet?
we love to see it
Nice! It's funny to watch when two people who professionally interview people all the time sit together and interview one another, how the sense of timing is perfect. Like Captain asks something and sits quiet listening to as long as the talk comes, and Rick just stops right away when he comes to the end of his point and he's so coherent with his story telling, and Captain immediately catches the ball and throws it back. It's so smooth sailing.
one hour flew by!
It's called a conversation. It used to be pretty popular a long time ago.
Contrast that to the interview with Paul Reed Smith!
Interviewing will tend to hone one's conversation skills
Rick doesn't get nervous because he see's them ALL as people; not famous people.
That's why these "Famous" people respect him and his fans as well.
rick made me understand modes despite my former teacher tried to force it on me and i never understood it. and all of that for free. such a mvp, such a great influence for me.
When Rick interviews geniuses like Pat Metheny I can see how blown away they are with the depth of understanding Rick has of their music. Most interviewers only ask journalistic questions like "who were your influences" or "how do you learn guitar"? But Rick will want to discuss an interesting chord substitution or unusual phrase on some deep cut from an album recorded by the artist 20 years ago. Watch Metheny's face light up, his body language relax, and his attention focus fully on the discussion. Same thing with Sting. These genius musicians recognize a kindred soul and someone who truly appreciates and understands their work. Hard to beat that. ✌❤
What a man, he can even rock double denim in the UK
A Masters Degree in Jazz Guitar......now THAT explains a LOT! 😳😎😎😎👍
In fact, this is not an interview, this is a perfect example of a good conversation of two greats. Thank you both :)
When my youngest son was starting out this shop allowed him to play top line guitars.
15 years on he has the most amazing collection of gear and that's what he spends his money on.
Great video
Two of my best youtube folks in the same video.. idk how i can contain my excitement 😢
rick is a legend and he deserves all the success very passionate and knowledgable guy
I've never clicked on an Andertons video faster than this amazing interview. Rick Beato is awesome!
Beato at last. I've been looking forward to this for ages. Rick is a Legend. Top work Mr Anderton.
Holy fuck, what a great mashup. Two of my favorite channels collide
hahahahaaaaa..! :D
His son Dylan is what drew me to Rick in the first place. I was talking with my friends and one of my buddies said the strangest thing. He said that all American car horns were the note F sharp. He had heard someone else say that and I started thinking about other common sounds we have that are so well known that everyone knows it. So I searched "how to identify pitch by ear" and it took me to Rick's channel with his son and when I was finished watching, I was speechless. It was one of the most incredible talents I have ever seen. Like watching Bach or Beethoven or Mozart as a child. A prodigy by definition. So I subbed and craved more of them. And then the rest was history
Rick demonstrated the patience of a saint when interviewing Lukather.
Luke is a bit eccentric😂
And Paul Reed Smith 🤣(i love Paul, but he's insane)
That was tough to watch at certain points
Lukather is great. Crazy dude and all the mind altering drugs that he must have come across in the 70s and 80s probably adds to the nuttiness. 80s and cocaine went together like PB and J
@@vicenzor3625 I can’t excuse rudeness.
You could listen to Beato talk about any topic for a few minutes and rightly assume he's a very successful guy .
Would have loved to have watched Rick do the $1000 challenge. When it comes to gear, he doesn't typically have a budget. So, watching him piece together something would be interesting. Where would he spend his money?
he'd probably spend more on the amp, and get a decent but cheap guitar. but who knows?
The story from a student to an excellent music and art communicator, what a journey
My kids aren't as excited about music because they consume it totally differently. For us getting an album you wanted when you were young (often for a birthday or christmas) was super exciting, so was leaving school, getting your first job and getting your pay packet on a friday and going record shopping on a saturday. So was going to a friends house to get a tape of an album they had..... My kids can hear anything they want any time they want, so it just seems to mean a lot less for that reason.
Related: we didn't have nearly as many options to entertain ourselves, so much of our time was spent listening to music by default. In the 80's, we had this explosion of options with cable TV, VCRs, and home video game systems. But we didn't have 1% of the options we have now. Your records and cassettes were always available (thanks, Sony walkman) and reliably entertaining.
Overstimulation kills dopamine. It's just how it is these days.
I agree, replacing a 2008 OEM car stereo with a new Sony unit, I wanted the same functions (AM/FM/CD/Bluetooth) and the CD player units are being replaced by multimedia (Bluetooth or USB connected internet download music). The truck now has a much better sound system, and in the rural west of North America, sometimes radio reception is unavailable, and a CD is always good.
ok boomer
@@guitarreillyno, no boomer. I'm sixteen and today's music industry sucks.
My two worlds have just collided! Great interview.
He’s popping up everywhere! His channel is incredible and so is he as a musician.
I think aside from Ricks excellent knowledge and ability to teach - another huge part of his success is his age. Hes the musician dad SO many of us across the world wished we had.
Rick is absolutely the internets cool music uncle.
asolutely. i have zero musical people in my family and having a dude like that that i know would be so amazing.
@@Anddrew914 add Uncle Larry ! Tom Bukovac.
@@phishphan5732 x10000 for uncle larry haha
@@phishphan5732 Never heard of him, Thanks for the recommendation.
I don't think people give Lee enough credit for just how good he is as an interviewer. I doesn't matter who he interviews (UA-camrs, grunge metal players, people using modelling gear, his Dad ...), you always get a really good look at who they are and what motivates them. I don't say this as a casual observer. I also interview people, run seminars, train people etc as part of my job and considering Lee is probably(?) untrained in that area, he's a natural.
Yes! Two of my favourite music channels togheter! 😉
The one that sells stuff and the one that teaches you how to use that stuff
@@firstnamenonapplicable5138 😂 yes this!
@@firstnamenonapplicable5138 - Then he needs Keith Williams to come on and tell them how they don't need all that gear.
Years in the making, it was well worth the wait. Bravo.
Rick produced and wrote records for shinedown 😯
2 of my favorite UA-cam channels together ❤️… Rick is who I wanted to be if I didn’t choose architecture in college. Lee and Rick, are my favorite UA-cam folk, just SO real and genuine.
Great interview, Lee. Relaxed, informative, and fun. Thanks for sharing it with us!
What a lovely way to spend an hour on Sunday afternoon. Great interview from two of my favorite music-oriented channels. Thanks.
A great talk. Thanks so much Lee.. I'm really glad I took the time out to watch it.
❤❤❤ what a happy easter indeed! Thank you for this!
Awesome interview and awesome people!!! Thank you so much for this:)
2 of my most watched music channel. great to see you having this!
Captain Lee keep interviewing people like Rick and other musicians keep up these great interviews. Great content.
Great interview! Thank you Captain, thank you Rick!
I love these conversational interviews! Lee, and Rick's channels are two of the first I subscribed to when I got back into guitar, and it was a pleasure watching them together. I that could've gone another hour! Well done gentleman.
Fantastic interview, thanks Captain, love both yours and Ricks passion for music, it's infectious
I just love Rick he brings the soul ❤️ to all the music I grew up with, with only a few exceptions and that's ok... He's a few years younger than me. But what he covers from my youth through my married years is priceless. I think I can safely say as long as we have Rick Music everything is in good hands. Thanks to Andertons for this interview. Rick brings the Synergy and the more.
This channel just keeps getting better and better!
This has to be the best interview yet ! 👍🏼
Superb interview. Great to see Rick on Anderton's.
Love watching Lee do interviews. He's seems to approach them like a fan would and he always seems to steer to the personal rather than the superficial. Thanks Lee.
loved the one with his father
Wow! Two of my favorite UA-cam channel personalities together! Love Andertons and Rick Beato!
Beato is a treasure here in Atlanta and you Lee are a great interviewer. You give space for the person to breathe just like a good classic rock song needs to! Thanks for this. Both of you keep up the great content.
Awesome interview! Thank you so much for the time to produce it!
I love seeing rick get all this love he totally deserves it. He is such a champion for music good music. Love it!
Always great to watch Anderson's videos and always great to see Rick, it's a guaranteed great watch!!
Glad to see you had Rick on your show
Both great UA-cam channels
Keep up the great work!
Thanks, Captain- really good interview. Rick is one of my favorite UA-camrs, as is Andertons
Your best interview video yet. Thank you.
Amazing! Thank you for this one.
Great interview.
So good to see Rick on here !
Gotta love Rick! Great interview, Lee! Thanks
What a great interview.
Love Rick, love Lee's cheeky style.
As a 60 year old guitar player,
You guys are the best.
Cheers
Rick is such an awesome guy! Was great listening to the conversation here.
Have to say, that was a superb video! Lee, you rock as an interviewer - you and Rick obviously connect, and listening to you two was a blast! 😎👍
What a great interview !!! The Anderton’s Channel and Rick’s own channel are simply two of the very best music channels on UA-cam, this episode is just superb ! 😍🎸👌🔥🔥🔥
Top notch interview, love Rick, love Andertons! Thanks guys
Two of the very best UA-cam „music business“ interviewers on the Planeten one spot! Thanks 🙏🏻
Rick and Lee!! Who would have thought...?? My best video buddies ever - always generous, funny and clever. This video is simply THE BEST! Thanks!
Thanks for the amazing interview lads. I just wanted to watch the first 15 minutes and go to bed early but this was so great that I watched the whole thing in one go. Will be tired tomorrow but definitely worth it 😊
Man, I didn’t want this interview to finish, thanks guys
Excellent show Lee, your site and Rick Beato's site are my favorites on UA-cam. Thanks for the excellent show!!
this is great, i've wanted this collab for a while!
A really interesting chat. Rick Beato is a fantastic music educator and his Sting interview was exceptional, as was his breakdown of Larry Carlton’s Kid Charlemagne solo. Great to see him on the Anderton’s channel! Lee is a great interviewer - the Yolanda Charles video springs to mind for its brilliance - more of this kind of content please!
Wow Rick on Andertons how cool is that
Wow two of my favourite youtubers in one video. Great job guys. Thanks.
Fabulous stuff lads. Agree that these are 2 of my favorite people in music also. Brilliant. Cheers.
My two favourite youtube channels combined. Great video and Rick's London Show was brilliant. Looking forward to The Captain and DP theatre tour next 😀. Genuinely I'd pay to see that
Wow, amazing! Great episode, great scoop. Well done.
Rick is a gem. He brings such insight to music and breaks it down to such interesting detail that your average non-musical joe (like me) can appreciate. His love for music is infectious. Top guy.
Fabulous interview, Lee
Love Rick Beato he’s just brilliant. Great interview Captain !!!
I like Mr Beato's channel, he's very natural and doesn't try too hard to people please. Great knowledge of music and bands and presents his topics really well.
I watch Rick's videos all the time and went to see him in London ... awesome dude! Thanks for the interview. 🤘🏻
It would be great to see more videos of Rick writing his own songs. Love his playing style on guitar.
Brilliant! How cool to turn the tables on Rick… and couldn’t think of a better guy to do it than the Captain!
Great to see such a gifted man on your channel
Great episode, I'm a big fan of both channels so its fantastic to see this meet up.
Captain, you are a fantastic interviewer!
Thanks for doing this, love Rick.
Brilliant interview. Thanks!
Love the honesty of Rick and The Captains interview style.
I've been subscribed to Rick's channel since he had well below a million subscribers. I've been amazed at his growth but the growth is because he's real and provides value in his music education as well as entertainment. It's a perfect crossover appeal for musicians.
Me too, I wonder how many people he has helped in their exploration of music, he certainly has contributed to my understanding of composition.
Of all the people Lee has interviewed, Rick is the one for whom I'd never run out of questions.
Happy Easter to me! 🎉 ❤🎉
really great interview Lee, fantastic job.
A fun watch; Lee’s got great interviewer skills! 👍👍
awesome to interview the interviewer. and so nice to see the respect for what i think is already a legend. good job cap!!!!!! and I think you just hit the nail right on the head. interview the interviewers. love the video!!!
Love seeing so many of my favorite people together like this! Lee, you boys did a fantastic job on TPS the other day. I was entertained, laughed at how just filthy that Danish mind of Pete's is (he can't blame on the Dane's mind you!) - but I was moved by the playing you sweet lads did! Just loved it.
I've said it before, Lee is an excellent interviewer! So is Rick, and I followed his channel for a while as well. This feels so real, just two people truly loving what they do, and truly interested in the conversation they're having. None of them are trying to show off. Cheers, guys!
I just want to say I really enjoyed every second of this video!
Great interview - well done and thanks!
That hour flew by. What a great conversation
Love Rick, what a great guy he is, a plethora of music knowledge. Really enjoyed watching 👏👏👏
Love the series, love Rick, but representing the US well in the Canadian tuxedo :P
