'Give him a shout out.' 'Nah, I'll give him a guitar.' That, right there! Didn't miss a beat, didn't think about it and consider any financial implications, Rob is clearly a super decent and thoughtful guy and instantly surpassed what was required and expected of him at that point. Round of applause!
how to demo guitars like the captain in 5 easy steps step 1 - open g played fast step 2 - hammer on cadd9 step 3 - arpeggiates dsus into open d step 4 - back to cadd9 and open g step 5 - a minor pentatonic
My first and only guitar is a $70 acoustic I bought two years ago... It has super high action and is badly set up, but it still means the world to me :)
I have an 900 PHP guitar which is about 20$ when converted. High af action, bolted on bridge and a snapped saddle, I love it to death. I also have a 140$ stratocaster which I bought several months ago
Lee about the V - “So inappropriate for a beginner.” The first guitar I bought myself was a Gibson faded series Flying V. It was different and it was affordable, but I thought it was awesome. I was 15. It made me want to practice more often. Because of that, I logged hundreds of hours of practice within the first year of owning it. If the body type makes you love the guitar all the more, buy it. -PJ
My first real guitar was a ibanez V (vbt700) and since that day I always cringe when people say V don't work when siting down, or it's not good to start. A (symetrical) V is one of the best shape for sitting down. Stick it between your thighs, neck at an angle going up, giving you access to the whole neck without having your wrist having to bend at the high frets, the guitar stays put without even having your hands on it. This V and a bc rich warlock are the most ergonomic guitars I've played, the bc being even better (ergonomics wise). No the strandbergs and such might be the best All hail the V
My first guitar when learning (electric wise anyway) was an Encore Les Paul which got damaged when a cousin dropped it on concrete and smashed up the back, we filled it in and I kept using it. Stopped playing a few years ago (got it about 5 years before that) and just got the urge to start playing again and so I went to my local store and when I walked through the door this beautiful gretsch 2622t in Torino green caught my eye and I fell in love instantly. Massive thing, es 335 style body, centre block, bigsby licensed, couple of humbuckers. Absolutely in love and don’t put it down ever. I’m thinking a Fender Tele for my next one, have my eye on a beautiful Japan made on in arctic white with black binding and pickguard, 60s style, beautiful in the hands.
Escalator same here. I listened to the Albert King and SRV album and wanted a V so bad, so I bought myself one. I’m sure it wasn’t just the guitar, but I had 4 or 5 guitars before that and just sort of piddled about on them. But that V, I’ve put thousands of hours of practice on it and will likely never find a guitar that makes me want to play it more.
My first guitar that I owned was a ESP LTD V-50. I love that you hung to bits. Recently bought a squire bullet a couple years ago and now actually properly learning guitar
When I was 13 years old, I decided that I wanted to start playing guitar and taking lessons. My father went up to the attic and pulled out this absolutely terrible acoustic guitar that had the word "Contessa" written on the headstock. The action must have been 2 inches high off the fret board, but he said it was his from when he was young, so I assumed all guitars were supposed to be that way. When I showed up to my first lesson with it, my instructor was like: "yeah... you're not going to be able to learn anything on that," and the lesson was barely spent playing actual guitar and more about learning the basics out of a book. Disappointed, I went back home and told my father what happened, and from what I recall, he said something along the lines of: "yeah, I figured it would be awful, but now you're going to appreciate what I have to show you." He went back up to the corner section of the attic and pulled out this sparkly blue early 80s Fender Squier strat with a maple neck. Most people would assume "oh it's a Squier it must suck," but it was one of the better lessons he taught me, because I played the shit out of that guitar, and learned how to take good care of it. After playing for 16 years now, I can honestly say the really early Squiers are actually pretty darn good guitars. I still break it out from time to time when over-dubbing tracks and things like that. Great video though Rob and Lee! I definitely felt the feeling of nostalgia throughout this one!
The new ones (Affinity and Classic Vibe) are made in Indonesia and are actually great for the price. It had some fret sprouting, and the action was a bit high for me, but that was easy to fix and then bam, I got an amazing Butterscotch Blonde Tele for $150.00 and it sounds awesome. Feels great, plays great, and stays in tune surprisingly well (I will upgrade the tuners to Locking Tuners and gut the whole pickup section, tone pot, volume pot, and 3 way switch, and replace it with all Fender pots and switch, and get some double stacked single coils and some neck pickup I'd like, haven't chosen one yet, and also replace the input jack) and once I do the upgrades, it will basically be a Fender. Make sure to buy 2018 and up models do NOT buy anything older (unless it's a made in Japan series), or it will be completely shitty.
Most of the " middle ground" squires are REALLY REALLY Good instruments, vintage vibe, and vintage modified are typicly better than their fender equivalent and about 1/3rd the price. I think the "big names" in the guitar business have lost touch with their customer base.now it seems they make instruments that are more about brand recognition than customer satisfaction. Gibson is a great example.its all about how great the les paul was and how much it can do, and not about what we want from the les paul. God forbid you want something a little different, well aside from what they decide they want to bolt on top of it, i.e. the robot tuners disasters or the" sound like everyone elses guitars" system there putting in thr new ones. Meanwhile asking for more color options, a decent vibratto system, or even something like straplocks to come standard on high end models and you get a history lesson.
I absolutely LOVE the moment when Rob's eyes light up at the sight of his yellow yamaha. Giving a good present is the best feeling ever. I didn't even give him the guitar and I still felt that! Amazing moment.
The yellow is eye catching color, some people like it. If you really look at it, it's not a good color, really doesn't do anything for the guitar player, just looks funny.
Miguel bought and sent that guitar, he is definitely awesome. But Captain Lee is just an amazing person! He purchased that black Yamaha and he could've stopped there, but he continued searching and found that exactly yellow guitar just to please Rob. And it worked! The Captain is a wonderful friend and man! Thanks for this video!
A purple fender Squire, from my parents at Xmas when I was a teenager. I remember only asking for skateboarding clothing for the Xmas. I was so dissapointed. I never wanted a guitar. But I'm glad they did. They only regretted it when I got into heavy Thrash Metal haha
my first guitar i built myself with some cardboard and rubber bands as strings, it was amazing wow didnt expect such success from this comment, guys i have an idea: lemme know if youd like to see a video where i try and build a cardboard guitar again with my current knowledge and perhaps get a chord out of it? like, if this comment gets to 200ish like i could probably come up with something :D edit: THE VIDEO IS UP GUYS! its just the first episode for now but I'm going to post every week to update the project so be sure to check out the video and sub to stay updated :)
I just bought the quilt top pro. Seriously good guitars in the $500 range. Also good to swap parts and try different things as it's not a $2,000 Gibson. Enjoy mate!
I’ve got a fair collection but they’ve all been gifts. I’ve just bought my first guitar with my own money. 2020 Epiphone Les Paul Custom in Alpine White
Welcome back guys. This is the best video you've done in a while. The stories were great as was the playing. Superb. I started with a cheap fender strat copy and much like Robs first one it was shit. But I'd love to have that back.
I'm 48 yrs old and bought my first guitar about a month ago. I picked up a Schecter C6 Plus and love it. Yesterday I had my second lesson and can't get enough of it. I've wanted to do this for years and finally did it. I love your videos and you guys have been a lot of fun to watch and learn from. Thanks!
Hey! I’m currently saving for a guitar and want to learn to play myself! It’s been a couple years since you commented this, but if you see my reply, could you tell me how much progress you’ve made and how your experience learning guitar was?
@@seroclas Hey there, unfortunately my progress stalled a couple of months after. I have arthritis and in my hands and it became really bothersome. Especially the left hand, trying to do the drills up and down the neck got to be too much and I had to give it up. I hope your journey pays more enjoyment than my did. All the best!
I loved this style of video. Laid back, relaxed, just two funny guys telling stories and noodling on great guitars! Video idea: set a budget and or theme and buy second hand guitars for this type of video!
Wow, I'm stoked to see how much you enjoyed having it back in your hands, Rob. I was honestly more concerned about the shipping, and in what shape It would arrive! Glad to have been of help, sadly, I couldn't find anything for Lee... But if for whatever reason I come across one, I'll let you know! Also, my first guitar was a Superstrat copy with a small 10watt analog Kustom amp I inherited from my aunt from the mid 80s. Still keep It today, but stored away. It was terrible to play with! Floyd kept losing pressure and sent the action of the strings 4 metres from the fretboard...But... First guitar, sentimental value, etc. Then played an LP for the first time and fell in love, and never looked back. I will get It a proper set up sometime! Keep doing what you do guys, you are most amazing!!
The joy that Rob felt when he saw the Yellow guitar was beautiful. My first guitar was a Strat style with a sunburst finish from Radio Shack back in 2004. Since I'm a lefty I played it upside down but it got me started!
Really loved this episode guys. Guitars are huge parts of our lives. I guarantee nearly everyone who watched this went straight onto eBay looking for their first. Mine was an all black encore strat which I adored!
my first guitar was a Squire Strat. Being left handed there wasn't really much for my parents to choose from, i'd have liked a Les Paul but I was really into Hendrix around the time i started playing so i think that's why my parents got me a Strat. If i could do it all over again, i think i'd have gone with a Yamaha Pacifica
Same, I got a squier bullet HSS and a fender front man 10g amp. I had a choice of the squier + amp, or a Pacifica 012. I went with the squier, but the amp sounded horrible and I've never used it. Kind of wish I went with a Pacifica!
My 1st electric guitar was a 1960s epiphone les Paul junior. My father bought it for me from a yard sale for $60US when I was 16. I still have it after 19 years. My 1st acoustic guitar was a unknown vintage Martin that had the obituaries of Morrison, Hendrix and Joplin glued on to it I got from a step sister when I was 12. Wish I still had it.
Matteo Rasemont using Gibson’s date coder via serial number, mine is a 1969 model year (last year for USA production). Then again since they never came with double humbuckers from the factory, who knows what that guitar has been through or what other mods have been done, since it has both Gibson on the headstock and an epiphone logo on the headstock. Wish I could show a pic of it.
2005 Epiphone SG. A lawyer I worked with played close to a whole wall of them and narrowed it down to the one I have. Amazing neck on it. I get compliments on it to this day. New nut, new tuners, drilled out vol and tone control, new electronics, new pickups and 13 years later it's still with me.
BrianS Man one night I stopped at a record/cd store I worked at to drop something off and in the store was this old bald guy talking to my coworker behind the counter. When I walked in my coworker pointed to me and said “ He might buy it”. Anyway the guy says he has a les Paul for $200. In my mind I think oh damn it’s gonna be a cheap knock off that’s worthless, but at the same time I’m excited that it could be a great guitar for a steal. We walk outside and dude pulls a case out and it says epiphany and I think oh well I’ll at least look, but he opens it and it’s a beautiful brand new Ace Frehely cherry burst les Paul with lightning inlays and his face paint on the headstock and 3 humbuckers. For reference I had a nickelodeon boom box when I was 8 and only Kiss Alive on cd so I was excited to see this guitar. It played fantastic so I bought it. Got it home and plugged it into my old peavey butcher with 4x12 and it was the best sounding guitar I’d played up to that point. Incredible guitars.
My first guitar was an off-brand Strat copy, silver with a maple neck, purchased in the mid 1980s. I got frustrated at my lack of progress, and gave it to my niece, who learned to play the damn thing. She taught her friend to play, and now her friend is advising me and helping me learn my second time around.
I get a real kick out of watching these vids. Rob and Capt Lee keep it fun and still give lots of info. This is now my most anticipated you tube channel for new content. Happy Birthday Rob!
My first guitar was a cheap €40 Lidl guitar that I stole off my sister. It was years old, strings hadn't been changed and was covered in paint and was terrible. But I still have it
In 87 and 88 the Japan strats were around. It was my first strat. Had a kahler Spyder. Black with a rosewood board. $380 with a hsc. Damn I miss it. I've searched around and have only seen 2 in the last 5 years.
Another great video guys. Always interesting when Chappers and the Captain get together just to chat guitars and reminisce. Taking up guitar today there are so many great choices available. When I began playing around 45 years ago you would be VERY lucky to find a budget guitar that stayed in tune for more than a few minutes. Build quality at the entry end of the market was absolutely awful. My first acoustic was a nylon string, classical/folk thing that was a bloody nightmare to play. You could have driven a truck under those strings! Today you would be hard pressed to find a bad guitar even amongst the cheapest of them. Great time to be a musician :)
Same here. I was given a Harmony Special from the Brand Names store. My Mom bought it at Christmas for me and I think she skipped the electric bill to do it. Playing was murder on my fingers and it couldn't stay in tune, but I would trade any of my 3 others to have it back today.
Put's me in mind of an Encore bowl back acoustic I had back in the early 80's. It was a present from my mother and although it probably didn't cost a great deal and was not that great to play it meant a lot to me. My mother was an incredible woman, working three jobs, raising four young children on her own, my father had died when I was eight and my step father died when I was 14. She never had any money for herself so she probably took an extra job just to pay for that guitar. I learned all the basics on that Encore and I still had it up until a couple of years ago by which time it was completely unplayable. The gift of a guitar to a young person cannot be underestimated :)
My first electric guitar was an Epiphone SG (G400). Still have it and I love to play it. It just feels so easy to play and so versatile. Honestly it was just the sweet spot for sound, feel and value.
I have a brand new 2018 Gibson SG and I have a 1982 Telecaster. The old guitar feels better. I am not convinced that older guitars are necessarily better but I believe that guitars age and improve like a good wine. I have 15 guitars of different ages and I am totally convinced that the longer the wood has been a guitar and gradually setup better, the better the guitar becomes. I have a 1979 Strat and I owned a 1979 Strat in 1980, the present Stratocaster is way better than my original in 1980. My first guitar was a Hondo 2 Strat copy, it was awful!!!
My first and only axe was bought from Andertons! (wink wink), and it's a shaffordable Ibanez Gio in walnut. Nothing fancy, fixed bridge and so on, but I'm lovin' it! Now, if only one could buy persistence in practicing...
AmiBorg just Learn some metallica songs through youtube and keep playing them till you have it spot on I'd suggest fade to black because the solos are pretty easy once you can play metallica songs properly you can play anything with a little practice
Whenever i learn a guitar song i make sure that the song has a guitar technique i havent learned yet, the important part is you have to LOVE the song since i would play the shit out of it till i get it perfect and its a win win, i learn a new song and a new technique. Currently at sweeping.
My first electric guitar was an Ibanez Gio GRX40 (came with the Jumpstart package) that I got in 2006 I believe, and even though I now also have a '93 Japanese-made Ibanez SV470 (wonderful guitar), I still have that Chinese-made Gio, and I still love it. It may have been cheap, but it plays wonderfully.
I bought a Takamine GZ300 new for $300 CD in 1983. Takamine only made solid body electrics for a few years in the mid 80s. It was my first guitar and I still have it. It’s a maple top on alder, neck through. 5 of the tuners are original and that’s it. It’s had different bridges, pickups, the finish had been redone 4-5 times (etc) and I made a custom pickguard for it - it didn’t come with a pickguard. It’s the only piece of gear I’ve never sold or would never sell. Best neck I’ve ever played to this day.
My 1st was an Electra Phoenix X130N (strat copy). Bought used around about 1984 - 85, for $150. from an awesome shop that shortly closed after that. I still have it and it still has my favorite neck. Thick and beefy. Many upgrades since then.
Oh I agree; I just did a !four-hour! setup on my nephew's Walmart "Davison" that made it playable for the 1st time ever. Hopefully he will actually start to learn and enjoy it now. Also had a talk with all the relatives about how awful instruments lead to non-musicians.
My first guitar was a dean Razorback in Black. cost my family $400 and got it for my 8th birthday I felt like a badass with that guitar. Unfortunately it was stolen at my school after doing a school performance 😢
Akhtar Zamil Sirajudeen I’ve got a few guitars now currently I use a Jackson soloist sl2q for the most part I’ve also got a prs se custom 24 and a Ibanez iron label rgaix6fm which sit in the corner till I fell inspired to play them
Darrell Middleton the guitar was in a hard case. The way the school was built was the hall where the performance was being held was literally only a few meters from the car park so I would say that after I put the guitar away in its case and went to go and join the audience the person would of just snatched it and put it in the car. Even know it sucked it turned out better got a better guitar a week or so after
This was a great episode. Making all these players reminisce on their first days when inspiration was such a new thing, and everyone was so aw stricken with the love of this instrument. I still play my first guitar. Definitely does not look the same anymore though.
I found a website that calculates the current value of amounts in the past, and it said that £200 in 1988 would be worth £535 today. However, given the increase in availability and quality of cheap guitars, £300 is probably a reasonable budget for a beginner guitar today, and you can definitely get a very decent guitar at that price.
I have one of these, with the ibanez own edge something something fr-style tremolo and in HSH. Its a very decent guitar, good bang for your buck when you're into shredding superstrat style. The stock PUs are nothing special, better than the infamous Ibanez stock PUs, but nothing special, changed them for classic set of JB / 59 SDs. The finishing is kinda thicc polyethylen though, so even with the finish of the wood being gourgeous, it looks kinda cheap in person compared to one of the more expansive Ibanez. The neck is wicked, though, kinda beefy for a RG tbh, but I really like that.
I've been looking at that RG421 in blue for the last 4 weeks, but haven't brought myself to buy it. After seeing this and hearing from the captain that it's a lot of guitar for the money I think I'm going to go ahead and buy it! The power of UA-cam.
Steve Wilson - My first amp was a Park G10 as well! I've still got it somewhere , but the pots are really scratchy. The overdrive on that amp was awesome for how small it was.
We should all be a bit more Miguel! Amazing contribution! My first guitar was a white Squier Strat, then a blue BC Rich Warlock about a month after which my wonderful Grandma bought me. I still have the Warlock 24 years on.
Speaking of being a Megadeth fan Rob, you should do some videos on Dave Mustaine's collection of signature guitars, especially that semi hollow Flying V, as well as a sound like Megadeth without breaking the bank!
Chapper's face 😀 I can so relate! I don't remember what my first guitar was, I think it didn't even have a brand name on it. It was a pile of crap. Its shape was fendery. Its neck fell off after a few years, and a trip to Edinburgh taught me what brands and types of guitars existed. I also learned that all I could afford was a beaten up, old fender strat, which I fixed with salvaged parts from my no namer. It went through a lot, including a proper luthier rebuild later on in its life. I bought and sold quite a few guitars since, but I still have this one. I still love it, and I still play it every now and then, after 50 years.
Watching Rob's joy at seeing the yellow Yamaha made my day. With the pandemic isolation we are going through now, it was so good to see that. My first guitar was a total piece of junk that wouldn't hold a tune and was impossible even for my instructor to play. My parents ran out of lesson money after a few months and I lost interest. Twenty years later I bought a Mexican Strat, but once again I was unsuccessful making any progress.I really didn't understand how much work I would have to put into getting any good. My son picked up a guitar was progressed quickly. I didn't and got discouraged. I sold it after just a little while. Now, at 56 I am practicing on a cheap acoustic daily and actually making some progress. And shopping for an electric guitar. I am scared to buy one without holding it first though, and all of the stores are closed. When they open again, I will be buying something. Who knows what.
Unfortunately I don't have my first EVER guitar, a little Jasmine. But I do still have my first electric, a red Yammy Beach Banana, a SC300T. Hell, I still have all of my early electrics. In order of acquisition... 87 red Yamaha SC300T 93 blackJackson JR94 Concept Randy Rhoads V (Yes, was amazed when I found out what I actually bought for just 250$US which also included an authentic Jackson hard case, it was and is still in mint condition!) My first Strat type is an Austin AU731 Tobacco-Burst that was owned by a local Luthier, thus had a nice setup and is in mint condition. My first Les Paul is a mint 2014 Agile AL-3010 in the old Oceanburst (not the newer, and might I add, uglier "Oceanburst" they're offering lately) Austin AU766 Sunurst LP copy, that was owned by a local performing guitarist. Somewhat a beater but plays quite nicely. Bought to beat on while saving my mint AL3010 for special occasions. Black Yammy EG112 ST-type bought to beat on while saving my mint AU731. LTD AX50 in silver. My first metal guitar (aside the JRR94) which was quickly replaced but will be a project guitar for later. Black Peavey Predator Plus Strat copy that is my first Floyd Rose. Still needs work as it came with bad output jack and for some unknown durned reason he painted the black hardware white with what looks like white-outs (liquid correction fluid). An Epiphone Limited Edition Genesis DX Pro in Transparent Black. My first SG style, bought as a shop floor model, but still had most of the factory stickers and tags on it. Ibanez XH300 Halberd in dark gray. It's my replacement metal guitar while the ax50 is in pieces for restification. The XH300 is my first active pickups. And what I nicknamed my FrankenBass, someone else's project bass guitar. A red crate body with jazz bass style pickups mated to a Fender neck. It's my first bass electric. It's in such bad shape that I'm going to be redoing this guy all over. But in meantime I'm currently working on getting a black Schecter Deluxe-4 to play on. I have 3 other electric guitars that are basket case vintages that are in queue on the restify project list. All are 60s era small makes. A Swinga SG-type, a Western ST-type, and an Artisan hybrid ST/LP-type. Except for the Western (which just needs restringing), they were missing strings, nut, and all hardware. However the Swinga retained it's original metal pickguard. Except for the AU766, AX50, and the EG112 and the 3 vintage project guitars, the other guitars are all first for me in one way or another. First real guitar, first electric, first Strat, first LP, first SG, first Floyd, first active pickups, first metals, etc. Unless you want to count the two basket cases to be my first vintages, lol, which I bought together for just 15$US each!
Spinnifuchs , wanna maybe sell it to me? I've always wanted to build an Ibanez collection to go with my Artist AM75 semi-acoustic hollowbody (my first gitter)
Just discovered this video so I doubt anyone will read this but did you notice how quick Rob got rid of the black Yamaha when he saw the yellow? That was genuine excitement. Fun to watch.
My first guitar was a 200€ Stagg Western acoustic in 2-tone sunburst. i got it 11 years ago for my 16th birthday from my parents (I didn't even wish for one) and still have it to this day. My first electric was an ESP LTD H-101 with a flame maple veneer top in orange or whatever they call their colour tones. Still have it and still play it (tuned to Drop A).
wow- Rob's guitar sounds like every other guitar he has ever played on here, by diming up the gain he manages to make 20,000 pound LesPauls sound like 60 pound Yamahas- it is magic (Magik)
23 years old Yamaha Pacifica. Plays really great! I bought it in Japan, brought it to Germany, to Scottland, back to Germany and on saturday I will take it back to Japan :)
My first guitar was the rubbish starter one almost everyone started on. It was some cheap pack S-type from Walmart. I ended up moving on to an Epiphone les Paul special II. I still have that guitar and it’s my baby. It just sounds wonderful.
Ha, we have Cash Converters here in Australia too. I love going there for cheap gear, but I don't think I could ever be brave enough to buy something off them online, because part of the appeal of them is that they are beyond clueless about guitars.
Jesse Wrangell not that cheap in the Sydney area. Prices are usually inflated so when they discount the price is about the going rate. Have to be lucky to get a decent guitar. Buy from Anderson’s second hand gear and have it shipped. Sure the captain will do a deal! 😜
I go into my local Cashies when they have a % off sale of some sort. Last year I picked up a mint Epi LP 1960 Tribute with case for $360 (was $450, which I reckon is still very good value). Had the stock Gibson 57 Classic pickups and everything else that it should have. All it needed was new strings. FWIW my first electric was a Squier Tele Custom (sold it a couple of years after buying it), and my first acoustic a Cort Earth 100F, which I still have.
I laughed when he said Cash Converters, I didn't realise they were in the UK aswell. Also because we call it "Cashies" in Australia it made it funnier when he said "cash converters" I have an odd sense of humour. 😆
great video guys my first guitar was a 335 copy from Woolworths in Leicester. and the amp was bought from boots the chemists of Leicester. the year was 1973. thanks, guys Tony
My first guitar and the only one I have right now is a knockoff Strat from some company called Johnson. The action is pretty high but it's all I can afford right now. Looking to get something better soon.
Matt does things ive had the same johnson sunburst strat for about 15 years now. It was my first guitar. Have a few others, but still play it regularly
Get a harley benton they're really good for the price and you can slowly buy parts for them every now and again to upgrade just check out reviews on cheap guitars and parts before you get anything that's what I've always done
My first electric guitar was my Gibson Melody maker with two pickups, that my parents and entire family chipped in to buy for me in 2009. I love it and still have it (alongside a 2009 les Paul standard!)
Miguel, you rock! My first real guitar was a 94 Les Paul, black with gold hardware, lovely brown case with pink fur lining. I loved that guitar, but I had some health issues a few years ago and had to sell it because the neck hurt my hand to play. I've got another one now, but there's always something about the first one. Seeing Robs face... That was awesome.
'Give him a shout out.'
'Nah, I'll give him a guitar.'
That, right there! Didn't miss a beat, didn't think about it and consider any financial implications, Rob is clearly a super decent and thoughtful guy and instantly surpassed what was required and expected of him at that point. Round of applause!
Astral Cat if you had a "shitload" of guitars, would you give one away? For Free?
Chappers and the Captain, class act all the way!
Astral Cat I have 8 guitars and 7 basses, don't know how to play, and wouldn't give up any of them! Lol
Hulk Slayer Wish I were as lucky as you
It is one of the reasons I am exclusive to Chapman Guitars.

step 4 - back to cadd9 and open g

These comments are so good

@@MrSimpleblan yea..i mean, look at spiderman lol
Truly touching. The look on Chsppers face when he saw the yellow Yamaha is like a 7 year old at Christmas. Simply Priceless
Its always amazing how things from our distant past have the ability to turn us back into excitable kids. :)
On behalf of all us viewers, thank you Miguel for putting smiles on our faces! What a joy it is to see Rob reunited with an old love.
Hey Miguel... my first guitar was a ‘66 Strat. Send me one plz
🍻🤣🤣
I am in TEARS
i still have my first because i am still a noob and it is my only guitar
Mine was a 79 Black strat... still got it, but I don't like the low/thin frets... prefer medium jumbo
Bro, learn slide.
Akshay Ravi Kumar yeah exactly they should do a acosutic guitar video .. haven't seen one yet .. I don't know ??
My first guitar was a $20 acoustic, and it is just perfect. Ive had it for 5 years and i will never get rid of it.
Why don't you set it up or have someone else set it up?
Lee about the V - “So inappropriate for a beginner.”
The first guitar I bought myself was a Gibson faded series Flying V. It was different and it was affordable, but I thought it was awesome. I was 15. It made me want to practice more often. Because of that, I logged hundreds of hours of practice within the first year of owning it. If the body type makes you love the guitar all the more, buy it. -PJ
The guitar should have a gravity to it. The ability to pull the player to it is incredibly overlooked somehow.
No the strandbergs and such might be the best
All hail the V
Lee, I've got a red one with the white scratch plate.

Yeah, those Squier Bullet 1 guitars are pretty damn good. I got one second hand and honestly, I'm playing it more than anything else
They were Made in Japan. Great guitars.
Thanks so much for sharing, friend. That was a great story.
MIGUEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kevin Kelly I hope Miguel has another guitar to play.
I absolutely LOVE the moment when Rob's eyes light up at the sight of his yellow yamaha. Giving a good present is the best feeling ever. I didn't even give him the guitar and I still felt that! Amazing moment.
Shout out to you Miguel - what you and the Cap'n did for Chappers was just beautiful. More power to you.
Rob is such a cool dude for giving Miguel a guitar, and Miguel is such a cool dude for finding that yellow Yamaha for Rob.
The yellow is eye catching color, some people like it.
If you really look at it, it's not a good color, really doesn't do anything for the guitar player, just looks funny.
@@drmidnight2419 I disagree. I think it looks good.
@@StackBundle I don't think yellow is a good color.
@@drmidnight2419 That's fine.

Good lord Lee's solos just get tastier and tastier.
and I left out the comma on purpose because Lee is in fact, the good lord.
Was thinking the same
Wish I could agree.
@Green Frog Yeah I'm not gonna do that, but I appreciate the kind words regardless.

Lee: the search continued
Rob: WHAT!!?"
Then the cup in Lee's table suddenly appear.
What is happening.

A purple fender Squire, from my parents at Xmas when I was a teenager. I remember only asking for skateboarding clothing for the Xmas. I was so dissapointed. I never wanted a guitar. But I'm glad they did. They only regretted it when I got into heavy Thrash Metal haha
C O N S T A N T V A R I A B L E S
You got the best color ever. I have a black squire strat with a purple pick guard that I put on it
My first guitar was a 2004 Jackson Randy Rhoads with neck thinner than my parents patience.
Haha, same actually
Was it a good thing or a bad thing?
Rob, give us an "banana yamaha"- inspired ml1! It would be SO COOL!
Wilhelm The Conquerer this needs to happen. I’d 100% buy a bright yellow ML1
We NEED this
My first guitar was a tennis racquet.
Technically, mine was too. And I still have it hanging in my garage.
Evan Ward same here !
Mine was a ukulele (back in the ‘60s when they were unpopular)!
I feel ya bro.
Same here!!!
you should do a video about the guitar ou sent to miguel
my first guitar i built myself with some cardboard and rubber bands as strings, it was amazing
wow didnt expect such success from this comment, guys i have an idea: lemme know if youd like to see a video where i try and build a cardboard guitar again with my current knowledge and perhaps get a chord out of it? like, if this comment gets to 200ish like i could probably come up with something :D
edit: THE VIDEO IS UP GUYS! its just the first episode for now but I'm going to post every week to update the project so be sure to check out the video and sub to stay updated :)
Did any subsequent guitars live up to that dream?
My first guitar is the air. It never left me since then.
Chris Franklyn naa close but never quite there
Do you still have it
B.S.P , fell apart in a week or so ;_______;

Rob: suggests a chapman guitar.
Lee: "... yep..."
I can see why you wanted the yellow one Rob. It looks sick.
My first guitar will be here in 5 days....a used Epiphone Les Paul Standard Pro. I'm a bit excited!
well, I have my great-grandmother's Stella Dread, but it's very old and I prefer looking at it rather than playing.
SixShooter14 well, did you learn how to play yet?
I just bought the quilt top pro. Seriously good guitars in the $500 range. Also good to swap parts and try different things as it's not a $2,000 Gibson. Enjoy mate!
So it's over a year later. How's it going? Can you play it?
@@blitzcraig1001 I'm so sorry to hear that, man :( and thank you!
nice one Miguel!!!!!! and thats a very nice gift Lee!!!
My first axe was an “Air Guitar”. Cheap. Never went out of tune. A tonne of built in effects. Made in Oz
Send Miguel a chapman guitar!
I loved this style of video. Laid back, relaxed, just two funny guys telling stories and noodling on great guitars! Video idea: set a budget and or theme and buy second hand guitars for this type of video!
MIGUEL!! What a top bloke 🤘🏻
Are you really pretending to my Miguel ?
You're Miguel? 😲😎🤙
10 minutes he said... but I'm enjoying every minute!
9:25 Rob's WHAT?! makes a wild coffee mug appear on Lee's coaster. Truly epic stuff.
Would love to know which guitar Miguel will get...
Frank Meffert ML-1 fo sure
The £60 black one
haha!! that was mean!!!
A top of the range air guitar
But let it be custom shop air!!!
A brand new '67 Harmony Stella, given to me for my 10th Bday. I've used it to record and still have it.
What a legend Miguel is!!!!
My first guitar was a black indonesian squier affinity strat that i got 2 or 3 (?) years ago from my grandma who got it at a pawn shop
So, I’m from Minnesota...are pounds the same as quid?
😂 I think it's similar to us saying 50 bucks vs. 50 dollars. So yes, the same.
Yes, £1 is a quid.
I've heard them use euro, pound, quid, and imperial credits of the realm. The last one is my personal favorite

The joy that Rob felt when he saw the Yellow guitar was beautiful. My first guitar was a Strat style with a sunburst finish from Radio Shack back in 2004. Since I'm a lefty I played it upside down but it got me started!
First guitar was a Classic Vibe 50s strat. Still have it, love that guitar.
Paradox Damn...
Lucky!! Those are great guitars
Nice man, those things are godly guitars, got one for myself a few months ago and its one of my favourites for sure
What an utterly beautiful moment!!! You are both great men, Lee & Rob. Much love, admiration and respect from Texas.🤠💚
Wish I still had it.
epiphone didnt make les pauls in the 60s
Matteo Rasemont yes they did.
the first epiphone les pauls came out in 1988
Matteo Rasemont using Gibson’s date coder via serial number, mine is a 1969 model year (last year for USA production). Then again since they never came with double humbuckers from the factory, who knows what that guitar has been through or what other mods have been done, since it has both Gibson on the headstock and an epiphone logo on the headstock. Wish I could show a pic of it.
does it say epiphone by gibson
2005 Epiphone SG. A lawyer I worked with played close to a whole wall of them and narrowed it down to the one I have. Amazing neck on it. I get compliments on it to this day. New nut, new tuners, drilled out vol and tone control, new electronics, new pickups and 13 years later it's still with me.
I forgot to say, congratulations Rob. That yellow guitar looks fantastic.
My first guitar was an Epiphone Ace Frehley model. Wish I still had it. Goes for nearly 4 times what I paid for it now.
@janis vogel Did you practice being a jerk, or does it come naturally?
My first was an Epiphone Les Paul Standard, now i have a banjo... Thanks
Wow, that RG 421 has a name that isn't a mile long. And those quantum ceramic humbuckers on it sound amazing, for being stock Ibanez pickups.
Great time to be a musician :)
yamahamusicians haha yeah, I just bought an Epiphone les Paul standard pro in wine red for $100! I love it and I've had it for about 3 hours!
Nice one! That's the thing. You absolutely CAN buy a $100 guitar and still get the quality. Always been a fan of Epiphone by the way :)
My first was an Epiphone Dot Studio in white.
I believe it is now rare as they don't make that color anymore
My first was a red Hamer Californian 2 in 2007. Hated it for 10 years and never played it... and now I love it
I have a brand new 2018 Gibson SG and I have a 1982 Telecaster.
Anyone else notice the magic coffee mug? It's there at 7:25 and then gone at 7:26. It then reappears at about 9:26 or 9:27
lol
27:05 I have that "blue" Squier and it's my main guitar despite owning a few Japanese Ibanezi and Fenders. Such a solid guitar for what it's worth.
“for the next 10 minutes of your life” *checks video time and sees its over 40 minutes long*
I bought a Takamine GZ300 new for $300 CD in 1983.
#Let'sGetMiguelOnTheShow
My 1st was an Electra Phoenix X130N (strat copy). Bought used around about 1984 - 85, for $150. from an awesome shop that shortly closed after that. I still have it and it still has my favorite neck. Thick and beefy. Many upgrades since then.
Yamaha Pacifica SSH, shortly followed by a Gibson 135, Cherry with White Binding. Was in the 90's.
...And i still have both. Never get rid of your gear, it's too hard to replace later in life.
Mark Hooper trust me some of our beginner gear was not worth keeping. We were kids and got the worst gear ever. I do not miss my first two junkers.
Oh I agree; I just did a !four-hour! setup on my nephew's Walmart "Davison" that made it playable for the 1st time ever. Hopefully he will actually start to learn and enjoy it now. Also had a talk with all the relatives about how awful instruments lead to non-musicians.
My first guitar was given to me by my grandmother before she passed it’s a late 1960’s American made Kalamazoo. ❤️
My first guitar was a dean Razorback in Black. cost my family $400 and got it for my 8th birthday I felt like a badass with that guitar. Unfortunately it was stolen at my school after doing a school performance 😢
Brayden Fletcher so what do u play now
Akhtar Zamil Sirajudeen I’ve got a few guitars now currently I use a Jackson soloist sl2q for the most part I’ve also got a prs se custom 24 and a Ibanez iron label rgaix6fm which sit in the corner till I fell inspired to play them
Gutted the thief must have had big pockets
Darrell Middleton the guitar was in a hard case. The way the school was built was the hall where the performance was being held was literally only a few meters from the car park so I would say that after I put the guitar away in its case and went to go and join the audience the person would of just snatched it and put it in the car.
Even know it sucked it turned out better got a better guitar a week or so after
Oh well that's cool then if you got a better on but i can imagine the heartbreak when you noticed it gone
What kind of kid has £500 as pocket money?
@@BlasterJunos you'd be surprised what some parents give their children
My first electric guitar was a late 60's Kalamazoo lawsuit guitar, single pickup, lake placid blue with a tremolo arm. I still have it. 💝 it.
Man...that Ibanez is a gorgeous, CRAZY value. That thing is friggin beautiful!!
What where your first amps?
Oh its at the end of the video you guys should find them and play your first guitars through them through you first pedals
Barnacle Boy from BFBB? NICE!
A Park G10 (with no reverb) and I bought a Zoom 505 MKI for effects

How about a new vs second hand video or where they assemble their first gigging rig
My first guitar is an Ibanez Les Paul Copy from the lawsuit era from the early 70s.
And i still got it.
Who else still got their first guitar?
me
I bought a Jasmine acoustic in 1988 that was made in Korea for about $100. Still have it. It's never been in a case, got a few dings yo
Unfortunately I don't have my first EVER guitar, a little Jasmine. But I do still have my first electric, a red Yammy Beach Banana, a SC300T. Hell, I still have all of my early electrics.
In order of acquisition...
87 red Yamaha SC300T
93 blackJackson JR94 Concept Randy Rhoads V (Yes, was amazed when I found out what I actually bought for just 250$US which also included an authentic Jackson hard case, it was and is still in mint condition!)
My first Strat type is an Austin AU731 Tobacco-Burst that was owned by a local Luthier, thus had a nice setup and is in mint condition.
My first Les Paul is a mint 2014 Agile AL-3010 in the old Oceanburst (not the newer, and might I add, uglier "Oceanburst" they're offering lately)
Austin AU766 Sunurst LP copy, that was owned by a local performing guitarist.
Dat yellow Yamaha is awesome
My first guitar was a 200€ Stagg Western acoustic in 2-tone sunburst. i got it 11 years ago for my 16th birthday from my parents (I didn't even wish for one) and still have it to this day. My first electric was an ESP LTD H-101 with a flame maple veneer top in orange or whatever they call their colour tones. Still have it and still play it (tuned to Drop A).
wow- Rob's guitar sounds like every other guitar he has ever played on here, by diming up the gain he manages to make 20,000 pound LesPauls sound like 60 pound Yamahas- it is magic (Magik)
sempercompellis that’s what rolling the gains does
23 years old Yamaha Pacifica. Plays really great! I bought it in Japan, brought it to Germany, to Scottland, back to Germany and on saturday I will take it back to Japan :)
Yamaha RGX was my first decent guitar in early 2000s
Boy Aditya there were really good guitars for the price
Also because we call it "Cashies" in Australia it made it funnier when he said "cash converters"
I have an odd sense of humour. 😆
Lee, You are a true brother. That's awesome that you got Rob the yellow one.
31:25 you guys left in a "shit" ;)
Rob's yellow Yamaha is seriously beautiful, though
great video guys my first guitar was a 335 copy from Woolworths in Leicester. and the amp was bought from boots the chemists of Leicester. the year was 1973. thanks, guys Tony
I love it and still have it (alongside a 2009 les Paul standard!)
peep the spontaneously appearing coffee mug at 9:27
Dude.. i noticed it too, and it creeps me out haha!
I love those little edits they do it's hilarious
But did you notice it disappear at around 7:26?
Miguel, you rock! My first real guitar was a 94 Les Paul, black with gold hardware, lovely brown case with pink fur lining. I loved that guitar, but I had some health issues a few years ago and had to sell it because the neck hurt my hand to play. I've got another one now, but there's always something about the first one. Seeing Robs face... That was awesome.
