What a great video! No wasted time, the same dialogue for each mic, and no talking down to iPhone users! Thank you, you’re a very smart guy. New subscriber!
Have you noticed a difference in the quality of audio when recording a voice memo closer to your mouth like you would with a standard microphone, compared to the audio from a video recording? I saw another fella who recorded his videos audio using the new iPhone this way and then audio was untouched and sounded absolutely incredible
Curious how you were able to connect your mic to the phone, sir. I have a BOYA BY-XM6-S5 wireless transmitter and mic but getting no sound when connected to the 16 Pro.
I had my shotgun mic plugged into a Zoom H4n audio recorder/interface, which then connected to my phone through USB cord. One important point is that external audio input may not work with the standard camera app - I was using Blackmagic Cam app which is free and lets you select external audio inputs and change a bunch of other setting. I recommend giving it a try!
I was able to get the external mic to work with the main camera app by going to Settings-Camera and changing the Record Sound setting from Spatial Audio to Stereo.
@@bernios3446 yeah I mean it’s definitely no where near having a good quality lav mic or something. I’ll take studio mode over the unprocessed audio in a noisy environment though. Kinda a “lipstick on a pig” situation though for sure

Nice and plain comparison. Love it. Except the music at the end. But all in all it gave me a good idea of the iPhone 16 mics. Thank you! Great job.
Thanks for the kind words man! It’s my first video so definitely room to improve. Appreciate you!
Nice video 👍

Haven’t tried this yet, but no doubt it would sound better! Good tip!
Thx for sharing
So nicee! Can I use the studio microphone while I’m only audio recording from the iphone?
sorry but studio mode does not sound good. Boxy and weird.

Ah, totally makes sense. Thx for sharing!
Both "in frame" and "studio mode" sound really bad in every review I've seen so far. What a fail!
