That 1000 bucks is worth it these phones are super capable. For the fact that it takes these kinda videos and also be able to perform other daily tasks. Wow thats mind blowing
One aspect that I wish to point out - whenever iPhone video footage is mentioned - is the physical limitations of the lens or lenses the iPhone (or any comparable smartphone) employs. Now I am not a physicist or engineer but - for decades at this stage - I’ve encountered very detailed explanations of why such and such lens is designed the way it is (and the starting point is that actual size of the various “pieces of optical glass” - the “elements” - the lens comprises - the relatively small “taking lens” on an iPhone must - I suspect - suffer in comparison). Has “image processing software” advanced to the stage that decades of “lens design know how” no longer is the determinant of the quality of the image captured ? The price of the Red camera is mentioned in this video - the price of even a medium quality motion picture lens may, itself, run into one to two thousand dollars (and I speak of a fixed focal length lens - not a zoom). So - basically - I am asking - has all this clever software made traditional notions of what constitutes a very high quality “taking lens” for motion picture capture redundant ???????
"has all this clever software made traditional notions of what constitutes a very high quality “taking lens” for motion picture capture redundant?" Yes and no. At the commercial level, it's still not even remotely close. Cinematography with proper hardware and software is on another planet compared to mobile device camera arrays and their AI software making up for the loss in clarity. Films are not using smartphones, for that form-factor, they are using action cameras like gopro and dji osmo action. Better yet, it the lens that really makes the clarity and tight focus that no smartphone will ever be able to replicate correctly. Though I can see future AI hallucinating some scenes to make it seem like it works, but it will never be the actual real scene with the right factors in play. We might even see a future smartphone in the next few years being good enough for some small factor scenes with short cuts, but it would still take an enormous amount of editing to fit the scenes. At the consumer level, yes, very few people understand how to use a real camera, and even if they got their hands on a good camera, they would not be able to do as well as their smartphone, which does it all for them by analyzing scenes and heavily relying on AI to create their photo. In part to why the industry is suffering, less people getting into photography, videography, and cinematography in general due to the ease of use with smartphone camera arrays. Until they need to do actual professional shoots, then they are locked out of making anything reasonable outside of instagram shitposts with speedramping. This also comes down to major issues with consumerism in the apple cult, of which less are subscribing to every day, but there are still avid believers in overpriced hardware and software that is defeated by decade old tech. As seen in numerous comments in this comment section.
By the way this is not comparable to an actual mirrorless camera. In low light the mirrorless will always be supreme. Bigger sensor = clearer images and more light.

Shallow DOF and shooting in very low-light are still a challenge for the iPhone - simply the physics of a very small sensor.

Ah yes, I cant wait for the next iPhone. iPhone 17 pro plus max v2 slim ultra v3 with the new updated A19 pro plus super chip. Super fast processing speeds and oh yeah, super fast processing speeds, idk if I said that already. Unfortunately the battery life is cut in half because it’s a slim phone. Amazing video btw, you inspired me to buy a $40,000 professional cinema camera and make my own movie all on my own. Should be out around 2034, I just have to learn how to do literally everything with it as I do not know how to film or edit good. If you’re reading this far into this comment, why? You just wasted 45 seconds of your life reading the most pointless comment on youtube. I might as well keep going if you’re gonna keep reading it. Let’s see how far I can go, I’ll check in on you soon. Alright so I’m pretty much just writing a journal at this point because I’m just typing random stuff that means nothing. Im not sure how many words it lets me type in the UA-cam comments section but I’m testing that out right now. Back to the donkey that supplies me with my booty. This comment better not get taken down from saying booty. But back to it. The gold that it produces so much of is 99.999% purity and each gold brick is nearly 30 pounds which I’m gonna guess doesn’t feel great for the donkey. And it produces roughly 50 bars per day so I would say I’m relatively well off in terms of money. I only have about 350 billion in my bank as of today. Im honestly surprised I’m still able to add to this comment, this sh*t is long enough to get me an A+ on a school essay. Oh wait, I graduated 35 years ago, never mind that. But dang, I never got enough of those A’s. It was probably all the teachers fault and there was absolutely nothing I could do to get my grade above an F. It went to an F+ for a very short time but went right back to a LF- the following day. Im gonna count how many words I have in this comment so far and that number will be the very next thing I type. 485. 485 words that I just counted. What a huge waste of time for me but also for you because you probably counted them as well. Dang that took way too long to count. And don’t think I forgot to check back in on you. I have the memory of a steal screw. I don’t want to keep typing but I need to figure out how many words I can actually comment on a UA-cam video. Honestly this is all probably a waste of time and it’s only gonna show like the first 100 words or something but it decides not to tell me before I type over 500 words.😂 Hopefully that doesn’t happen, but at the same time, there’s no way UA-cam is actually gonna let me comment something this long so I guess there’s only one way to find out.😅 Ok technically maybe 2 ways, I could probably just look it up and find the answer in 2 seconds but why not waste my life away figuring it out on my own. I’ve probably been at this for 15 minutes already and it might not look like that because I don’t have at least 30,000 words typed down. I just need to start typing random words to get this thing super long. I don’t know what to type but I’m just gonna say the first thing that comes to mind. Just like you do broham, you only lay down at the picnic area at night when there was. Awesome dude, thank you so much for reading this. If you’re still reading this far, I hid $100,000 somewhere in your hometown for you to go find. Now get on it broham and bring home the dough. Also once you find the money, comment on this comment so I know that you found it because I have something else for you but it might require a trade of some sort. Im not joking. Now it’s time to drink a water bottle in 0.5 seconds as someone suggested to me after I failed my 1 second water bottle challenge getting about 5 miserable seconds. After that I think I’m gonna try a habanero challenge that I saw online somewhere. Im not sure how that one is gonna go because I don’t eat spice often but we’ll find out I guess. Am I in the past or the future? Who knows, and frankly who cares? My license says I’m 35 but I look and feel like I’m 90. Im not sure what has gotten into me. All of this started happening after I had some of that milk my dad finally made it home with, which is weird, because I haven’t seen him since that incident either. Now that I think about it, that didn’t really look like my dad. Eh, whatever, I’m sure it’ll all be ok in the end. And head to head the quality of the iPhone's 4k/120 video is worlds better. Who cares who had it first? Using your Logic Samsung was late too, so Sony wins because they had it in 2021 on their Xperia phone.
@@b.redouane Samsung didn't invent it either and Apple did an infinity better job on the quality of theirs. In this video he showed the iPhone can hang in the realm of the Red camera. The S24U has a tiktok worthy toy implementation of 4k/120. You said 120fps is a gimmick on a phone. It's actually usable in real world shooting with an iPhone as proven by this video
Apparently, the new Zombie film "28 Years Later" starring Cillian Murphy & directed by Danny Boyle was filmed using the iPhone 15 pro max as the principal camera.
that ssd looks small, might be an issue with dram-less ssds at that form factor (since it's not a full size nvme). 422hq @4k120 is probably a lot to handle for dram-less ssds, but it also kinda looks like a sabrent ssd, (i'm not sure if it has a dram cache or does it have nand writecache).
The RED Dragon camera being cheaper than the iPhone, with the iPhone having sharper and more detailed footage is definitely a shocker! 💯🗣🗣🗣 Will you do a low-light comparison? 👀
The shocker is he was able to get it cheaper than the iPhone when it should have been a lot more. The deal he found was definitely not normal. Even just the body it should have been a lot more, with all the accessories it still should have cost about the same as a decent 10 year old car. It's very impressive that the iPhone was able to hang on some levels.
I think that when you speak of detail it's a bit misleading as you are shooting with an older Canon lens, I'm sure if you were shooting with some high end glass on the Red it would be a drastic difference.
The sigma 18-35 1.8 is known to be a very sharp lens, there aren’t any ultra modern lenses available for the EF mount, but I don’t think it would make a big difference tbh
No, it's just differences in how the sensors are built. And oversampling (which I think the iPhone does, but couldn't find a source on this) makes the image look much more detailed.
I'm a first time iphone user and git the 16 Pro Max... that included cable is garbage. The iPhone has processing going on while the Red is meant to allow the alterations to be in post.
Because it was a gimmick Sony added just so they could brag about "look what we have!" You don't see any Xperia vs Red Dragon 4k/120 videos because Sony would get demolished.
While Samsung phones are very good at photography, they have never been good at video recording, specially now that iPhones can record at ProRes Log, which is much more useful than 8K recording.
Yeah I noticed that later on, definitely part of the SSD issues I was facing. I'm pretty sure (after I did some additional testing) it's because once the SSDs cache fills up it gets super slow.

Ain’t no way this is all gonna comment. 😂 But here it goes I’m done typing this, it’s taking way longer than I would’ve imagined. LETS PARTY!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Edit: no frickin way this all commented
Edit 2: now time to resume the video after half an hour of typing
Dear god why did I read all that 😂
ughhh i read this
U need to try s24ultra 4k 120fps apple is late 10 month old already on galaxy
And head to head the quality of the iPhone's 4k/120 video is worlds better. Who cares who had it first? Using your Logic Samsung was late too, so Sony wins because they had it in 2021 on their Xperia phone.
@@Bigheadedwon
And 120fps is gimmick for a phone , just a vibe and it will gone for month
@@Bigheadedwon i did comment that because everyone speaking like apple invent something new they need to get reminder
@@Bigheadedwon dont speak what im not
I said apple speaks like they invented it in a phone
Apparently, the new Zombie film "28 Years Later" starring Cillian Murphy & directed by Danny Boyle was filmed using the iPhone 15 pro max as the principal camera.
Cables matter. A fast ssd doesn’t matter if you have a slow cable.
I don't think the cable is the issue, I found out that the SSD is super slow once the cache has filled up.
that ssd looks small, might be an issue with dram-less ssds at that form factor (since it's not a full size nvme).
How do you like the bomb evf. I was thinking about getting one for my dragon
Did you find anything out about the NVMe problem?
I think the problem is the SSD gets super slow once the cache has filled up
What is the size of the video file from each device.?
The iPhone footage is gigantic, significantly larger than from the RED. About 15 seconds of 4k120 in ProRes 422 HQ from the iPhone is 6GB
Looks like you haven't tested Father of iPhone which is Sony Xperia)) mostly 1V or 1VI
Bro Sony phone is giving 4k 120fps from many years
But not that good tbh.
And it's ass. Same goes with flagship devices like Samsung. iphone has always been better when it comes to video recording
Sony still makes phones😂
Right 👍😊
try sony xperia 1 v which ha s4k 120fps on all lenses
hi siri turn volume up. with assistance voice activated
Is the red less detailed because it hasn’t got internal compression etc because it’s raw?
No, it's just differences in how the sensors are built. And oversampling (which I think the iPhone does, but couldn't find a source on this) makes the image look much more detailed.
I'm a first time iphone user and git the 16 Pro Max... that included cable is garbage. The iPhone has processing going on while the Red is meant to allow the alterations to be in post.
Youre iPhone was still background installing stuff?
sony xperia had 4k 120fps shooting cinema since 2020 and no one talked abt it
Because it was a gimmick Sony added just so they could brag about "look what we have!" You don't see any Xperia vs Red Dragon 4k/120 videos because Sony would get demolished.
should i buy
What’s the best app to convert log to rec?
Forget that camera i want your keyboard and i bet it sounds incredibly creamy ;p
It does 😉
It tastes incredibly creamy as well 😉
The problem might be with the cable that you are using and not the ssd
Incrível parabéns!!!!
Nächster Videodreh mit steffen einfach mit dem I Phone 😂😂
Wär garnicht so ne schlechte Idee zum testen 👀
_It’s probably your cord connected to the SSD the minimum transfer speed of a cord that you can use is no less than 10 Gb per second_
Low Light ?
Low light conditions ?
Link to MagSafe drive enclosure?
I added a link in the description!
The guy has a 30k camera and can't spend 1k on a phone
You should have used a Sandmarc lens
Deserve a subscriber
Well down on the video
Well done 🎉
Do you know what else shoot 4k 120p Sony Xperia 1 mark iii and up
the smartphone space is very competitive, that why they have to do everything
bro you need to simplify results on your content...
Bro dont use cover while doing heavy work because it generates a lot of heat that affects performance and efficiency
new subscriber here. please make more videos using iphone 16 pro max ❤
I’ve got more coming soon!
May I ask who the guy is sitting in front of the red car-picture?
good night futc :)
Haha thank you 😂 the 2AM upload might have been a mistake tho
You know a 48mp lens in the iPhone is actually a to 6mp if you measure it naturally against an actual camera
Well it's about time it got 4k it's only 5 years late to the party
Samsung already have 4k 120 fps
u should try s24 ultra's cameras
While Samsung phones are very good at photography, they have never been good at video recording, specially now that iPhones can record at ProRes Log, which is much more useful than 8K recording.
@augustogalindo8687 ye, idk y did I say that
I think you just bought the RED camera for so less, because they wanted to buy the iPhone 16 PM 😂
You probably need a faster cord, make sure you have the fastest usbc cord
How to do Colour grading?
There were dropped frames on the iphone's slowed down shots. Did anyone else see this?
Yeah I noticed that later on, definitely part of the SSD issues I was facing. I'm pretty sure (after I did some additional testing) it's because once the SSDs cache fills up it gets super slow.
