  • The brand new follow-up to Atomos' line of monitor-recorders, the Shogun Inferno makes HDR workflows possible for a multitude of camera formats. With a super bright 1500nit calibrated display, it can operate as either a PQ-ready HDR monitor, or an SDR display that can monitor in bright sunlight.

    This seems more like an explanation of HDR than a review of the Showgun

      MotorWorldHype True, but I appreciated the lesson.

    I think this was a good all around explanation that the Inferno is a future proof device. So, good segue in the HDR explanation. It's clear that this is gear is a whole other level of video technology.

    Does the editor Resolve have a HDR setting to apply to your clip? Also my OLED tv knows when it's getting an HDR signal, how do I apply that signal to my final product??

    Thank you for the great video. I have a shogun inferno, when I connect my camera which the mic is attached to, to inferno via SDI, the recorded media does not have audio, I thought SDI carries audio signal. Also, I can see the audio levels on the inferno, but it is just not recorded. Do you have any suggestions?

    I don't understand this... How do I determine where the Scene Brightness Range (Dynamic Range) slider should be set?

    • @BandH
      @BandH  6 років тому

      You would want to utilize the scopes when adjusting the Scene Brightness and Dynamic Range. For additional help with this feel free to email us directly at ask@bandh.com.

    Hi Doug, which monitor arm were you using with the Canon cinema camera at 4:55? Thanks!

      Not Doug, but to me it looks like the Pear stone 11" Articulating Arm

    How do you connect the inferno to your computer to use it as an HDR Monitor?

    • @BandH
      @BandH  5 років тому

      First you would need a Playback device that supports HDR. The AJA Io 4K Plus is such a device. This can output HDR video.

    I still don't understand the purpose of the HDR function. If the HDR look can't be applied to the actual footage, than what's the point? Its great and all that you can see what HDR looks like on the monitor, but I care more about how it will really look when I edit it.

      @tylerjohnson1352 6 років тому

      EXACTLY! This doesn't make sense. I dont think this video is covering the full application. I think you can shoot HDR with VLOG and then color grade it in Resolve and get a good image usable for web and so forth.

  • @jianping5976

    So, is it true, the HDR mode is only for monitoring, it does not change how video is recorded? Is it right?

    • @BandH
      @BandH  3 роки тому

      Correct! HDR viewing does not affect the recording. In addition to HDR monitoring (viewing/playback), the monitor also offers a High Bright mode for traditional Rec. 709 monitoring. This mode takes advantage of the full 1500 cd/m² brightness to allow for more confident monitoring in bright outdoor environments, even without a sun hood. In HDR mode, use of an included snap-on sun hood is required, as displaying a wider brightness range reduces the overall brightness of the monitor. >Mark

    I'm confused. why would Resolve not be able to see HDR LOG footage graded? Why do you have to use Inferno as a monitor? Why cant you shoot HDR into Inferno, Grade in Resolve and see Rec709 image in resolve? The point of filming HDR is better dynamic range using VLOG...then grading in post (even without using Inferno as external monitor to PC...). Right?

      This is a pretty complex issue. Feel free to email us directly at ask@bandh.com for additional assistance.

    How do you pass the signal from the PC to the SHOGUN Inferno? What cablel is it?

    • @BandH
      @BandH  7 років тому +1

      It’s an SDI cable that’s coming from a Blackmagic Design Decklink 4K Extreme Card, paired with the full version of DaVinci Resolve.

      Would the Blackmagic Design DeckLink Studio 4K (www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1044784-REG/blackmagic_design_bdlkstudio4k_decklink_studio_4k.html/prm/alsVwDtl) with Resolve Lite work as well?
