When i was a kid we had a problem with fuel theft, so we hid the fuel tank because it was on a trailer. Then we filled an old standing fuel tank with calcium chloride and wouldn't you know it but we found two guys broke down about 2 mile from the yard cursing up a storm and that wouldn't accept any help from us. ( since they new who they were stealing from i guess)
I'm afraid fuel theft is commonplace here in the UK as are quad and side-by-sides but they have even started stealing heating oil (kerosene) from houses using electric pumps and flexible plastic hose into tanks in the back of vans. Much more serious from an agricultural aspect is the developing theft of GPS globes and monitors or livestock rustling particularly sheep.
We just switched tanks. Diesel went in the gas , gas went in the diesel. We knew and let me tell u a gas engine doesn't make it far when it's trying to ignited diesel. We also put the high way diesel in the off road and about 2 weeks later my boss pulled in and grabbed a big cotton swab and swabbed these two truck that were new in 08 almost brand new and these guys had no off road diesel. He swabbed it and there it was red dye clear as mud. But just switch the tanks when u get them. U have to change the nozzles because diesel nozzle is bigger. Plus what kind of freaken scum bags steals another man's fuel. Should be a Han*ing offense. UA-cam don't ban me for that I'm not wishing anyone harm......
As tough as they are those unfortunate circumstances are part of life. Hard lessons but lessons none the less. I'm sure you taught n cared for the girls as best could be. Your a great Dad 👍
Keep the machine. I believe we’ve all been there; frustration and statements out of frustration. Sorry for the loss. Farm life is a very real life experience.
Zach, sell that strip till..you know your ground and weather better than I and if you're plugging anhydrous tubes this year you will plug tubes next year. Nevermind the dry fertilizer issues, just the tool issues alone because of conditions will just never work consistently enough to not cause you frustration every year
Vice Grip Garage is my new favorite channel on UA-cam! Derek’s sayings are so cool. I watched the video of him and you with the snowmobiles , it was really good.
Louisiana Farmer here… very interesting seeing the different challenges we face, whether it be weather (see what I did there), resources, or any other obstacle presented daily on a farm. Almost more interesting are the similarities every farming operation inevitably encounters, even on opposite ends of the Mississippi River. Awesome content my dude, I can’t even imagine the effort it takes to film a day on the farm. I wish you all the success in the future!
Well you say your 2 weeks ahead of schedule. Well you could be washing tractors conbine make shure everything is clean. Don't leave anything dirty make everything brand new. Have a nice winter
Re: Strip till. I admire the perseverance, still I think to be successful you will have to accomplish two things 1) Alter your weather to get warm dry conditions 2) Change your soil type to sandy loam. I have faith in you and if you can pull this off, you will blow past 1 million subscribers. All kidding aside at some point the desire to succeed needs a reality check from the need to make money.
There are some things that are impossible to do, unfortunately for Zach, what he's trying to do, it's seasonal based and right now, it just isn't the right time even though season wise it is, weather wise, nope. Cheers :)
@@Ham68229 My point being that at his latitude, in his region, the chances that the season and weather will align correctly is slim. It is like the old timers here(Western Washington) talking about the sugar beet crop. Fall weather tended to be like it is currently, windy and wet, so there where more subpar to terrible years then good years to get the beets out of the ground. Eventually they gave up and moved on to other things as the money wasn't there.
I just started listening to your podcast and it's so cool hearing you talk to Jake about him and Harvey's operation after having met Harvey and having a chance to sit in his car
I've just finished watching every video on your channel over the past 2 years, just wow! Firstly you seem like an amazing man with an amazing family. Your job is so far from what I do, sat behind a desk all day and I envy you! Your videos, content and personality are so good to watch that I honestly don't know what to do with myself now I'm caught up! Thanks Zach and family!
Big storm coming Zach! I’m up in Ontario just above Duluth and they are calling for a chance of snow in the next couple of days, along with a ton of rain. Hopefully the rain doesn’t slow your fall tillage down. And hopefully we don’t get snow :) great video once again. I appreciate and enjoy the longer videos, they are a treat. All the best to your family, and it’s great to see Onyx practicing his Compound shot!!
When we had dogs we fed our cats up high where the dogs couldn't reach. We used an old hay loft that could only be reached by a ladder, but a shelf or something like that would work too.
I'm working along side a 9620R at work it's pulling a scrapper an man that thing has loads of power. It's a beast. We are turning 10k acre of farm land into a 10k acre Levy. Down here in FL.
I got uncle's Farmall tractor stuck, was going back with chains. Uncle says,"Just leave it, drive other tractor"...Couple days later, when things dried up,he drove tractor out of hole.
We have been using Aspen fuel for several years now... 4 and 2 stroke mix, been putting small engines away for winter/summer with zero issues, simply put them away wet!! No stabile etc... its not cheap but great quality fuel...
The cats seem happy they didn’t look like kittens sorry for your kids pet lost. For multi pet feeding issues they do make pet feeders for that problem(RFID pet feeder). Or you could put the cat food on your shop table(cats love high places). Good video glad your figuring out your equipment/tech issues
I must come down you sir ,on being g able to multitasking n deal with the issues that come up while you are trying to farm. Some people are very good at what you do n I commend you for those abilities.Thank to you n your family for helping g to feed America n the world. I come from a family of farmers ndo know your difficties. Thank you again thanks for the great videos .
We found that you can use that strip tiller but putting your fert on the corn when it needed it gained 100 more Bu/Ac. So the cost of the tool does not pay. Put Fert (small amount) up front then watch the V stage and give the corn fert with your Sprayer. Pays more, and you have the tool that will give you a better bu/ per Ac that will pay for the tine material and then some.
@Paul Thiessen absolutely correct. Its an accomplishment to almost be stuck but get out on your own. When farming with a dad and a brother someone was always keeping score on such things.
I really like watching you as you work, I go through all the ups and downs with you while farming, and when you was talking about your fertilizer, I new exactly what you were talking about.
The fact that the door latch freed up when you pounded the push button / locl with your leatherman makes me think the mechanism of the button interacting with the actual latch isnt moving freely. Might need to take the latch apart, but I think some PB blaster or i guess in your case wd40 ought to help it. Spray all the latch mechs, and work the button in and out while spraying.
How you had issues with moisture causing the fert to set in the Meters, idk if you're cart is set up this way but it could be worth putting an oil cooler Infront of the fan to heat and dry the air to stop the fert setting. Alot of carts are set up this way in Australia for exactly this reason.
In Minnesota we definitely have more humidity than most people think, so yah having some type of humidity control on the intake could make a difference.
Dude, jus an ol farm boy from Ohio at almost 54 yrs old. Give me that there model # for that camera, and I will get you another. Love all yalls content and can even relate to the yard accidents. Been there ,dun it ,it happens. Keep up the good work!
Hey Zach, I'm currently deployed in Japan but I grew up in Minneapolis and would head up north on the weekends. Mostly the Glenwood/Brainerd area. I just discovered your videos and it's a great reminder of home when I'm feeling homesick. Thanks for the great content man!
On the tractor door handle put a nut on the other side of the finger and lock the lever by clamping the finger, simple really great video's keep it up.
Zach, I really enjoy your channel, the only YT channel I'm subscribed to. I'm not a farmer but have always been intrigued by the farming industry and have always been a little jealous when driving through farm country during harvest or planting season. As a kid, I was active in FFA and took many AG classes in hopes of having a career in agriculture but instead I opted for the power industry. I'm retired now but still have a strong work ethic and hope to possibly work for a farmer here in the south some day. Onyx is becoming quite the hunter, something else I'm passionate about. You are very fortunate to have such a great family around you. Keep up the great informative and entertaining videos and stay safe.
wow..glad you got that much done. Do have you any plans for building a new machiney shed to keep your tools out of the weather during the winter. It would not need concrete floor and heat. Power and lights would be nice!!
"Sup?! There's NOTHING like a vintage Chevy pickup and that classic look.... My first pickup in high school was a similar style '79' Scottsdale.....I miss it too.....
Cool video..we just started our harvest last sunday But were just a small fries..about 25 acres of corn picking with an old 2 row picker & it went good the first 2 days but yester day we spent most of the day getting the 4x4 100 hp tractor unstuck then the picker, and cart then the picker had a bad clog..turns out it was a 1/2in peace of plastic stopping it & today the keep breaking a chain on the picker..Turns out the shoot is broke causing it...lol.. Its always something !
Around mpls the word is the post office held a hiring fair for the holiday season help and not enough people showed up. So if a post office needed 20 seasonal workers they could of got 3. I talked to my postman and they are not allowing vacation days from November 1 to at least December 31.
If the channel gets to a million subscribers, Anna gets to ride in the cab.
YEAHHHHHHH LETS GOOOO
I agree!
Yes!
Come on Zack!
My dog LOVES being up in the cab as she likes the changed view.

I'm afraid fuel theft is commonplace here in the UK as are quad and side-by-sides but they have even started stealing heating oil (kerosene) from houses using electric pumps and flexible plastic hose into tanks in the back of vans.

Yep & Karma is a bitch..lol.

In my humble opinion, the best part of any video is when the UA-camr shouts out another channel. It's like family.
The noise that the cab keeps out is impressive. Drastic difference with the window open and closed. Hats off to JD on that one
Thought you was going to have to fire yourself. Can’t blame Jim for this one.
Thanks for taking care of business but when your kids needed you .. you left to be with them.. thank you, that’s a great Dad.
Don't forget to take the globe off the the strip tiller you will be looking for it in the spring.
I admire how you drop everything to put your kids first. That's the mark of a true man.
That was mighty nice of you taking the blame for Jim getting stuck.
Oh zack I'm so sorry about the kitten, I hope the girls are OK, sending my prayers to them. 🇦🇺🙏
Farm life is a very real life experience.
the funky door handle is just a extra security feature

Zack - any chance of an updated equipment tour - lots of changes since the original one you did..
I think that was when I first started watching him a few years ago
That would be great then I can update gear on farmsim19 too hehe
Yeah
At the minute there's still the 6175R, 8260R, 8320RT, 9570R, 9570RT. S780 combine and a 9870.
Vice Grip Garage is my new favorite channel on UA-cam! Derek’s sayings are so cool. I watched the video of him and you with the snowmobiles , it was really good.
That was a great mention of the VGG , and like this one a GREAT SHOW
Warms my heart to see you watching VGG. A good way to pass the time while tractor-ing.

Well you say your 2 weeks ahead of schedule. Well you could be washing tractors conbine make shure everything is clean. Don't leave anything dirty make everything brand new. Have a nice winter
Sorry about the kitten, nothing is more important than taking time to comfort and hold your children when they need you most.
Poor kids, broken hearts I'm sure.
Cool seeing you on the news zach
"Tillage Row" would benefit greatly from a hoop house or additional barn. Great videos - thank you!
"Tillage Row" It's a inspiration Zach, truly an awakening! Deep, dude, really deep!
HTF is a fun watch! Hope they have continued success on track!
I notice you keep your equipment so clean. I like that. It says a lot about you. Great video.

We need a montage of Zach starting tractors hoping battery isn’t dead! Same face every time!!!
One where he's head bobbin with it. Overlayed with some music

Yessir them wintry looking clouds rolled into my area couple hours ago.

The year you guys are super ready with two combines, harvest goes out like a whimper, and you aren't trying to beat the snow lolz
So glad to see you enjoy Derek as well!
Glad that you & @vicegripgarage got to Collab a little before he moved to TN.
Sorry for your loss
Enjoy watching you and the team farming, my grandfather was a small grain farmer. God Bless and take care

Loved your TV blurb...U R D Best .Steffes tip excellent source
I like the way you let your tool down to let your dirt go through
I got uncle's Farmall tractor stuck, was going back with chains. Uncle says,"Just leave it, drive other tractor"...Couple days later, when things dried up,he drove tractor out of hole.
Great video, nice work on the news segment you were in.
Watching VGG while in the field. What a riot!
I think that 'I'm sorry Derek, it was all we had on the shelf' was directed at VGG too.
"We had to fire Zach"
It's nice to have stuff put away for Winter!
We have been using Aspen fuel for several years now... 4 and 2 stroke mix, been putting small engines away for winter/summer with zero issues, simply put them away wet!! No stabile etc... its not cheap but great quality fuel...
Some times it seems that the more successful you become, life negates it by becoming more complex and less satisfying. You are doing good.
Seen u in the news best person who could ever be recognized Zack for president
Sea foam is the best I’ve ever used works great
Hi Zach. It’s randy I’ve message you a lot and even sent you a post card. Every video you put out gets better and better! You are my favorite farmer!!
Amazing how much farming can be done with one hand:) !
That’s what she said.
You can also farm with no hands…check out Harmless Farmer…look mom, no hands
