The Story of the GREATEST Surfer of ALL TIME: • The Story of the Great...
CSGO Surf is a high-prescision movement game with speedrunning elements. And surf_sinsane_ksf is one of the most important surf maps ever made. Today we will investigate each classic map that makes up surf_sinsane, and reveal the history it holds.
Special Thanks to the contributors: Kingyoshi, Cromalia, Deadeye, Gavin, Morning, Gebb, Insane, Wayne, qr, not_a_zombie, Kiruu, Blink, Jessetooler, IrynStyle, and of course, Sinsa
This was one of the most complicated projects i've attempted to date, many thanks to all those who helped a long the way

CORRECTIONS AND ADDITIONS
1. Kalle beat sinsane2 the SAME DAY it was showcased by bocuma, same run as in the video
2. Sandman last ramp is removed in sinsane, as well as the bars in surf_royal
3. Sinsane may also have been based on another player, Insane, who achieved rank 1 as well. Insane recalls speaking with b0at about the map prior to its release.

pin this sir
As someone who surfed on KSF over a decade ago, it blows my mind hearing you call some crazy sections relatively easy. The bar has been raised a crazy amount - I love to see it!
yeah i honestly feel the same way, sinsane took me 15+ hours to beat, idk if ill ever beat b1.
Long time no see Mifl.
that transition from legendary in sinsane to OG legendary was the smoothest shit i've ever seen.
There's a reason the saying goes: Michael Jordan is the Sinsa of Basketball. Great vid man.
TRUE
Kinda impressed with how you've found out so many details of the past -- especially finding footage of Jesuswashomeless's other surf_legendary stage 7 which he named surf_looksmodern, I used to have a video up of it that's not there anymore. For stage 7 he put it together and then didn't bother anymore since he was pretty much done with surf, we all thought it was impossible at the time but I grinded it for about 7hours (doesn't seem like much today) trying different technique's to get over the second wall and finally completed it. Same with Syria_again stage 8, was deemed impossible since it was made for 100tick. Grinded that trying different technique's, decided doing a 360 on to the last ramp gained the most speed, spent 8 hours clipping my little feet on the end hole not knowing if i'd ever actually make it.
Bro wants to insert himself into history so bad 💀💀💀💀💀
@@POTUSOfficial he’s telling his story of him grinding something he enjoys. Wtf are you on about
@@POTUSOfficial That's Demon, he was already involved in some of the major historic events in surf, you plonker.
Man, I gotta love your story telling style. Really makes it feel like I'm watching a movie of some ancient battle! Awesome work!
Wirtual also does good storytelling, TrackMania also has/had a mysterious pro record breaker.
I Cannot believe I am stumbling across this video! Dude, well done. This is incredible. I am Jesuswashomeless. Your details are spot on! When I released that level, i had been done with competitive surfing for months and wasn't really interested in trying hard anymore. I KNEW that Legendary Level 7 was possible at the time I released it but didn't want to grind it out. I spent thousands of hours having an amazing time with so many of you. I apologize i won't remember you all, but seeing all the names people are mentioning is bringing back a flood of memories. Being able to watch videos 10+ years after all this took place is truly humbling. I'm honestly in shock. Idk who the guy is who made this video, but what an absolute legend.
Ah, very nice nostalgia trip. I remember interviewing oldheads when I was trying to put together a video for the history of surf, in fear of it fizzling out and being forgotten. I'm ecstatic to see that the community is still thriving and producing content like this. Only ever got to top 350, crazy impressive to anyone still grinding today, super high skill ceiling! I remember having a conversation with Slyph about bezier splines for optimizing ramp pathing!
I don't know if this is what you're going for but your editing and narration reminds me of Wirtual. Glad you're doing this, I think this format really lends itself for this game. Good work!
I love surf history videos so much rep. Keep it up. These are amazing.
I have been in awe of cs surf maps ever since I was younger and discovered some compilation videos on youtube. The smoothness of the motion combined with the lonely and sort of psychedelic nature of the maps has always captivated me. I tried my hand at surfing a few times but I probably don't have more than 5 or 6 hours in total. Over the years I come back to just watch videos of people running the maps. I always wonder who makes these awesome maps and how precisely they have to be tested and stuff to make sure they're even possible. I also really appreciate the artistry that goes into designing the atmosphere of the maps, as many of them feel totally unique, and some even remind me of places I have been to in my dreams.
Anyways, thanks for this video, it's great to see a niche community be so insanely passionate. I will be watching :)
Nostalgic for sure :) Great video!
I'll literally never forget beating Sinsane the first time, it took so many hours of grinding. One of my first T6's besides 666
I spent so many hours on KSF during college 11 years ago. I don't even remember tier 8 being a thing. I loved linear maps and forbidden_tomb_4 was my favourite. My most memorable map completion was the_distance which was a long ass T5 linear if I recall correctly. I also remember when it_omnific released and every KSF server I was able to play was playing that map non stop for like an entire 1-2 weeks. Great memories, nice video.
Really good video dude…completing sinsane was always a goal of mine and when I did it for the first time I genuinely felt like I’d completed surf 😅 legendary map and great story telling
Good Job as usual. Was really fun to watch.
Great video dude!! really well done and explained
Holy shit the quality of these videos is insane. You deserve so many more views.
Your best video to date in my opinion. Loved every minute.
used to talk to redc back when i knew him through tf2, kinda cool seeing him mentioned in a video like this. great work
Great storytelling. Loved this vid
I think you should have mwntioned the hardest part about royal spin which is an i visible trigger where a pole should have been in the spin.. so annoying haha. Awesome vid. Loving it. Watching sinsa was the reason i started to surf
was really fun! keep up the good content !
Wow, I'm amazed you managed to find footage of that old Jesuswashomeless stage, he was one of the greatest surfers back in 2008, next to knife and Aes (Rest in peace champ).
Amazing stuff, been 10 years since I touched surf, might make me get back into it...
Underrated video fr had me interested the whole time, I don’t even surf much 🤣 keep up the hard work
so cool to see this as an old school surfer, great video🔥
I remember when surf first came out. it was a lot of fun but the maps are so simple compared to what we have today. some of these guys are INSANE it warms my heart to see how far it's come
Love the content brother keep it up
Looks like a wirtual trackmania vids but without the cars ! Great work ! Never seen that game before look amazing
love those ultra demanding niche game epics, been watching the trackmania stories also
Love your documentary type videos
Very good research and work put into this video!
This reminds me of Wirtual a lot, wonderful video Repster!
great editing brother
I know nothing about surfing, and have never done it, but your video kept me highly entertained the entire way through. Terrific work :)
great content as usual
Great commentry and sick video
fantastic video repster
You know whats funny?
Surfing is the sole reason I am a high sens player in FPS games. I remember being like 8 years old and hating constantly switching my sens during surfing, so eventually I ended up finding a perfect high sens I could normally also play with, and ive been using high sens my whole life since then.
Was waiting for a new video of yours
And here I am remembering rebel resistance and great river..so many memories..
great vid man
you're such an upcoming creator it surprises me the quality of your videos
Cool video! Watching this made me vaguely remember b0at messaging me privately about this map, I think he made me surf it before it was released. My memory has always been that the map name referenced me as well but TBH I'm not sure, my memory from that time is horrible😆
I will add this as a correction, we were really unsure up until the end. I had a section about you in the original draft as well. Apparently b0at might still be around so we can find out for sure, follow up in a future vid.
@@Repster It's mixed up with the memory of a bunch of people asking me about it after it's release because they associated it with me, that happened for sure haha. Would be cool to confirm with b0at because I'm honestly not sure :D
insane vid, the thumbnail is cool
video is pretty cool, but man i would have loved to just see a single unedited run of the final map at the end
Very nice video! It reminds me heavily of Wirtual's way of storytelling
Omg I remember when the sinsa juched skip happened everyone lost their shit. that was truly a moment you knew would go down in history as you witnessed it!
You know it's good content when you don't give a fck about surf but watch the video anyways. Keep on like that and you'll have a nice follower base!
great video, it gave me al ot of nostalgia thanks :)
Seeing all these nicknames and mapmakers makes me nostalgic af. Feeling the vibe of 2011-2014, chilling on css ksf with mad lads. Whoever came with NM or KSF tag in front of nick was known from being the surf goat. Damn, I'm feeling so old now, yet, remember like it was yesterday when niyhM came and dropped some banter or good advices. Huge shoutouts to the oldies who remember these times and with who I've had a great time - Tim9202, Raz0r, niyhM, Esel, and plenty more I may forgot here but for sure are living in my memories.
And thank you, Repster, for this great story telling video about the map that was a goodbye for me from surf as I've moved onto the other games once I've beaten it.
big up to u repster, doing the most for surf
Hey! Awesome video. You're content has gotten me back into surf and has been super helpful at getting better and learning more about it. I've recently started palying on CS:S and was wondering how you get your UI to look the way it does. Couldn't find anything in your other vids. thanks boss keep it up!
I use a custom hud called EZHud by caffrey, you can find it either in my discord (link in description) or Caffrey's twitch chat using !hud
If you join my discord its in the pinned messages in general with an explanation of how to install
Great job
where would you put Raiin (evil muffinz?) and yamaan? I still remember those names. Thank you for bringing the lore to more people and to be an historian of sorts to surf! your videos are amazing and very well explained!
Wirtual vibes. Good vid
I near one shotted everything on sinsane back in maybe 2018, but that last stage. There’s absolutely no way I could do it anymore, massive send drop and I flat out don’t really play cs anymore much less surf, but I damn well remember the trials and hours spent on the last two stages of sinsane, and the entirety of omnific
Repster uploaded? LETS GOO
I dont surf in CS:GO but enjoy watching parkour in any game (did a lil bit on Krunker) and love the video quality
Truly amazing and informative video. Gives me the nostalgic feels
legendary storytelling repster great video keep it up
I don't even surf and this is still a really interesting and really cool video.
Insane vid all my homes
can we talk about how good that transition was at 4:00 ?
Wow great video!
Ur going somewhere keep it up
Haven't surfed since like... 2006, but always fun to keep up with it.
good vid as usual
Your storytelling has improved greatly it is very enjoyable but you sometimes get a bit too deep in detail. Otherwise the video flows well especially the 2nd part. Thanks for this
18K VIEWS atm and will shoot to a couple million soon
he does it again, a banger vid, another one
It’s crazy to me that a map like surf_syria was once considered such a hard map. The optimization in this game mode is crazy
I didn’t realize it till later but I watched the first 75% of the video on 1.5x speed and my mind was blown
Entertaining video :)
Can't wait for surf servers on CS2!
Hello, I discovered you recently and you made me start to play surf ! I am trying to learn as properly as you teach (and you teach very good), but I am currently playing on CSGO, and whenever I look for something about surf on CSGO, I see everybody saying that CSS is better. So I wanted to have your thought on this if you will.
Amazing video as always !
it is totally fine to surf on CSGO! CSS is different in minor ways that wont impact you until "late game", hundreds if not thousands of hours from now. But eventually, CSS or Momentum Mod will be the optimal place for you to surf. For right now I recommend GFL and Surfheaven on CSGO, both very good servers.
@@Repster Understood !
Great video
This video is sooooo good. Makes me instantly more interested in surf :D
I miss the old good days with da surf ski2 map in cs 1.6
Enjoying the video, as always :)
Good stuff
really good video
I was thinking of reinstalling CSGO. Welp you've convinced me.
I had a terrible experience with surf, had a "friend" pull me into a game, make fun of me for not knowing how to play it, refuse to teach me, then call me names for now knowing. Way back in the day, but ever since ive never played surf
keep it up
Damn, if only b0at was someone we all knew playing under a different name and account since 2012.. Probably not though..
im a simple man, i see repster upload, i click i like i watch
great video
grwat vid, tbh i don’t remember the 1 million point reward for sinsane b, i remember it as 5000. i do miss b0at tho. we used to surf together on zees japan tricksurf after he changed his name. dude was the B0AT
severely underrated channel. dont even have to surf to enjoy your videos. Keep it up bro!
I love your videos
If there is anything I learned from this video it’s that Sinsa is a demigod
bro almost explained the entire story of cs to explain a single modded map
Crazzzy good video🔥🔥🔥
The community was in remiss,
There never had been a surf map such as this.
very nice
Havent heard demons name in forever my god the nostalgia
so sinsane is the oachkatzlschwoafs(one of the hardest maps in trackmania) of the surf world?
Oh man, that could be a couple of maps
surf_anubis or surf_spin which has never been beaten. To TMs credit I think y'all have harder "oach" level maps.
damn.. sinsane
very cool
