Love that you made it work! For the longest time after you added me on steam I thought it was just some fan account posting a musicians content. Then I finally dredged up the courage to ask and was blown away when I found out your story! Congrats on the success with your music, it's crazy to think how few of your fans are probably none the wiser about the name! To them it's just a combo of words that is synonymous with your music but to us it's a map in counterstrike about riding triangles 😂

This is one of the surf maps of all time, that changes lives forever. So glad surf_mesa took up the name and ran with it for his own fame, people used to call me mesa all the time and it drove me nuts. Awesome video! Never thought my awful works of the past would have been so popular, and to still be talked about to this day. Dog bless.

The hole jump skip is really hard. I've only done it a few times before. I've never achieved sub 51 with it. Truly insane talent from these guys.
Old TF Classic Skills player here... Really like your content. I've been surfing on the ksf server too under the nickname InKy. I sort of retired because the grinding required takes up time I'd rather be using on hobbies or work. But every now and then, I get the the chance to pop in on some of the servers still running. I hope that you'll get into TFC concing at some point, it's not as much a movement based mod, but being good at movement really helps. You should try it out, I don't know how good MM is at emulating it yet, but there are still TFC servers running. If you want videos, search for footage of ^vi (vertical impact). Hit me up if you want anymore info for a video ;)

I love this map but it's not actually my first completed map. My first completed map was surf_aircontrol_ksf. That one is IMO much easier than mesa. Also my first ever surf map that I joined (but didn't complete) was actually mesa as well, but mesa_mine. Which is also a great map.
Man, this map takes me back to when I first started surfing. I played it constantly as a beginner and the skills I developed while doing so ignited my love for surf. Thanks to that, I became part of the community of a gmod surf server, though it's sadly been long dead now. Still, I can't help but have fond memories of this map and I probably wouldn't have met a lot of cool people without it.

If you haven’t already… can you cover surf_legends at some point? I used to have a top 30 time in a VERY popular server back in 2016, the version where it was completely foggy and pretty much came down to muscle memory. Would be really interested to see the history behind the map. :D

I think Levi was the first person to hit the dropskip in CSGO, because CSGO surf runs at 64 tick instead of 68 like CSS it was tought to be ridiculously hard almost impossible. And Levi just casually strolled in to CSGO an hit the skip in the first hour(?) IIRC. What a beast!

Am I tripping or wasn't there a cut after the hole? As far as I remember you went down the hole and then used the ramp to go above the rocks/walls on your right. Probably only possible on 128tick and an outdated version of the map. But back in the days I was kinda sad to not get any close to the record bc of not being able to perform this skip :D

Is this a good map to learn surfing? It has always interested me, but I could never get the hang of it. I would love to start learning
its ok, maybe too difficult for a first time surfer. I'd recommend surf_leet or surf_aircontrol for first timers.
