I just opend it yesterday. It's so smooth and sweet bourbon for me. Rowan's creek is rare in japan. But it's my favorite bourbon.

I was at the Willett distillery recently, on the tour they described this one as a dessert bourbon. I got a ton of chocolate on the nose and some dark coffee on the palate. The tour guide said she keeps it in her freezer and pours a shot on vanilla ice cream.

This was actually my first really, really nice dram that was fairly complex and not "hot" at all. It's always in my vast collection of btls. Btw, another great Ky.straight Bourbon is Noah's Mill- very grassy note upfront and 114 ABV-- What's not to like?!😂❤ Cheers from ETn Smoky Mtns. 🥃🥂

Good review. I understand Willet has a different profile and why some people might not like it but I like it. I enjoy Noah's mill and I believe is an amped up version of Rowan's creek. The green top Rye I enjoy too but it comes off very minty.

I'd like to try one of their rye's. We haven't had one yet.

I was drinking Rowan’s Creek 20 years ago. It and Noah’s Mill (114.3 proof) are the only 2 Willet products I like. 🥃

Noah’s Mill is my favorite whiskey….
I don’t understand all the hate for willet and the love for all the NDP’s.

Interesting review. I do like the Willet 4 year rye, but have never tried Noah's Mill or Rowan's Creek. Tried a flight of three "purple tops" at the Willet Bar in Kentucky. An experience, but way over priced.

I heard someone describe Rowans creek simply with the phrase "notes of listerine" and after that I realized it does in fact just taste like oaky listerine. Very interesting but not a common pour for me. Shame because my name is Rowan I had high hopes

Well, now I'm going to have to try it again and look for the Listerine note!

So there are two rowans creek, old stuff versus new stuff. So how much has it changed? Well as someone drinking this as his favorite whisky for 20 years give or take, what rowans creek was and maybe sounds like still is somewhat, is an example of true american corny bourbon. It has always kept it simple, you will never confuse this with anything else, you will never even suggest this tastes like irish or scotch or anything in most ilks. Hopefully one would still be able to tell it is not like canadian whisky, when it was aged longer you would be able to say yeah this is unique kentucky american bourbon period end of story.
My guess is it isnt as smooth as it once was when aged longer, which is sad to me. But things change, they built a name and now with supply and demand what it is, lets not forget this is a business. I almost died when I saw this in costco the first time, lol. As long as when you crack this bottle open and it has simple bourbon notes, it is true to it's core. It is nothing like say a nobb creek which hits you with every note under the sun. I much prefer rowans, but must admit nobb creek makes the best whiskey sour on the planet, but for sipping and true american corn flavored bourbon, I prefer rowans creek for simple people like me who also cares about the budget. rowans creek call it bourbon baby.

As far as Willett products go, this is the one I've liked best!
