  • When Gary Vaynerchuk drops by for a fireside chat, things might get a little heated. Find out what Gary thinks you’ve been up to since his appearance at THINK 14, where he draws the line between empathy and romanticism, and how change-makers can chip away at the wall of resistance they might encounter when they return to work.

    'Nobody has an idea in the room" because they're building other's people dream. Their idea is simply put: "I have the best idea in the world, I need to be on my 9-5 job tomorrow" .... they maybe never thought about an IDEA! Let alone take action. Period.

    • @anpe6524
      @anpe6524 8 років тому +15

      Like Gary said, it comes from the top-down. The problem it's not having a job working 9-5 to "build somebody else's dream", the problem comes when you work in an environment were they don't push having ideas to make goals happen, the problem comes when building SOMEBODY ELSE's dream IT'S NOT PART OF YOUR PROFESSIONAL DREAM. Having a job is a good thing, being an entrepreneur is a good thing, a BETTER one is to be VERY CLEAR of your role in each one in order to be enthusiastic and open to bring solutions and profit to the table, like Gary said "Being an entrepreneur" to become a millionaire just because you are young, 24 and have a hoody doesn't work like that.

    • @vidfio4602
      @vidfio4602 8 років тому +10

      Sorry you post doesn't make sense to me. I am an extremist, pretty much have Gary's type of character. You either build your dream or go on building someone elses because at the end of the day you will never become a millionaire being an employee. I am not saying you should not get a job, like many entrepreneurs would say, you have to bring food to the table, the problem is that MOST people are building other's people's dreams. P.S I am talking entrepreneurship, and not relating to JOBs. (winning doesn't mean you have to be a millionaire necessarily, like Gary said in one of his other videos, winning means being happy with what you're doing 10 - 12 hours a day anthen money comes on the second place, but make sure it's enough money that you can have a comfortable life. In many places of the world, employees are pure slaves working their ass off for $300 - $400 a month. This is when people have to think outside the box to get our of poverty, Gary purpose is to help those people.

    Gary's condemnation of the Credit Unions missing the opportunity to expand their business during bailouts is so true. They will never have a better opportunity to do so.

    the reason people think they can be entrepreneurs is because of people like you!! telling people they can do it, they can have the drive, all they have to do is hustle! people hear the words and think of themselves and see that they have experienced adversity that they can push that hustle and make it, but its hard and not everyone has the same life experience everybodys way of making it has to be different

    This video is a fantastic exercise of observing communication disruption against an industry that needs to examine itself, but isn't sure at all if they have the tools. Point is: They absolutely have the tools but are scared to evolve.

    I'll the question at 52:00 because he didn't a good job answering it under pressure. Basically be empathetic to your market (sensitive to their wants and needs) but don't be emotional about you business (only caring about what your business stands for and ignore the wants and needs of you market).

    Even though everyone in a hoodie might THINK they could build a million dollar business as gary says, i still think you shouldn't begrudge them at least the opportunity to try, as during the hardship they will encounter the ones who aren't competent will weed themselves out anyways.

      good point. especially regarding the offspring of the current wealthy class.
      i am 40 and only now actually giving a crap about this social tech crap......and making real money.......but also offering something to people.
      abundance is limitless. money is created. there is not a limited amount that companies and inventions withdrawal from.

    How does such a professional organization have such crappy audio? I have my laptop fully blasted. if you record something with bad audio, simply put it in imovie and raise the volume, or, put closed captioning in so we can use subtitles. Still a great video, still giving it a thumbs up, but please don't force us to wear headphones to get the information, its a loud world we live in and not all of us can escape into absolute silence for over an hour to listen to this. Sorry for being so harsh, but simple things like can create big problems and this is unnecessary and avoidable. Thanks

    Gary - You had a real live customer right in front of your face who freely shared information with you, and you did not ask her WHY she hadn't bought wine from you in 8 months. You talked about everything except HER. Points deducted.

    I really hope the outspoken CEO near the end makes a video, or a pinterest graphic, or something so I can know what the hell he is talking about. The only thing I know about credit unions is that they don't have a lot of branches and many don't have great mobile apps. I would love to know what great about a credit onion. I would probably join.

      Credit unions are service businesses not banks. half the paperwork, double interest on savings, half the fees of banks, half the interest rates on loans, pays members a dividend at the end of the year. Banks are only good for corporations.
