Thank you - this has been a huge game changer for me. I have been struggling so solve my Land Rover Discovery 4 compressor issue for months and this is the 1st video I found which actually shows where to find the filter!! I doubt if the filter on my vehicle have ever been cleaned. I will send you photos of my disintegrated filter I took out should you be interested.

Hi thank you and please it helped you. There is also a second felt pad underneath the sponge which you may wish to wash or replace.
Feel welcome to send any photos
      Regards

Hi Peter. I am pleased you found the information useful. I suspect there are lots out there that have not been replaced in some time. The filter can be washed out in warm soapy water. I have heard that some have deteriorated and fall apart.

@@daniellyne1 Hi Dan, you can't buy just the filter sponge unfortunately. You have to buy the pipe, canister and sponge As one. About £65. Plus vat from JLR. I do have the part number if you want it.

Closed cell foam is closed, so no good for a filter.

dyson hoover filter sponge is the same type of sponge and only £5 on amazon and under the sponge is another felt filter by the way that just needs to be cleand with an air line or a can of air (do not wash it) my range rover sport now lifts much quicker now that it has a new sponge

Hi peter it’s a two part filter after the sponge you will find a white filter also.

A pan wash sponge should do the job.

    What a good one!
My filter was indeed very dirty, and has never been replaced.
I called my dealer but he asked €96.40 for the filter inlc housing.
Is there anyone who might have a cheaper filter?
Read below in the comments, a dyson hoover filter...
But isn't there an aftermarket filter for this?
    Please let me know :)

Hi. I'm not aware of a specific aftermarket filter. I would just try to find a fine open cell sponge to use and cut it to shape. A pond box filter sponge might be ideal as they come in different open cell ranges.

How did you manage to get the cover unclipped? I've been struggling with it and can't figure it out haha

    • @discoveryadventures2296
      @discoveryadventures2296  2 роки тому +1

Hi it clips on so its just a case of a swift upwards motion and it should come off.
      Regards

Tried to have a look at mine today but I have rear AC and this filter is virtually inaccessible behind the blower. I could get the cap off but not get it out of the way. Only was to get the foam out would be with a wire hook. Decided to not bother as there was not a speck of dust in that compartment.

    • @discoveryadventures2296

It's worth trying to remove. There are actually two filters one felt at the bottom and the sponge one. Sometimes the sponge starts to breakdown into a fine dust which could get sucked in and would obviously need the sponge replacing.
      Regards
      Peter

Hi, can you suggest where i can buy the intake filter?mine disintegrated completely.
    Thank you

Hi, this seems to be a common issue with some of the old sponges. You can buy them from Land Rover Dealerships, but it only comes as a whole unit rather than just as a replacement sponge. Lots of people have made their own by buying some sponge and cutting it to shape.

My d4 is setting low won't go up is this the cause?

Hi very unlikely but may have been a contributing factor. It could be one of a number of reasons why the vehicle is not lifting. Do you have a GAP iid tool or other diagnostic tool? You will need to check for codes first. Have you tried the fuse and relay? Is the pump running and car not lifting?

What can happen if the filter becomes blocked ?

    • @discoveryadventures2296

The compressor could overheat or fail prematurely
