Just picked up mine 30mins ago. I have been using a RC-50 since 2005-2006ish. The RC-300 never resolved my issues that I had with the RC-50. My main issue was the routing. This unit fixes that. Great video. It will help me quite a bit.
I just got my 600, and being an analog pedalboard user have been baffled with getting around on this amazing piece of gear. Thanks for sharing your approach in a straight forward and easy to understand way. I look forward to more of your videos....
Wow, Emily, you are SO good with these videos. You are a deeply gifted teacher along with everything else! I can feel your mind on the student and the result is that these are soooo super easy to follow and absorb. You're also very efficient with the pace but still overflowing with personality. What a bright star you are! Thanks!
Oh David you are so kind with your encouragement! I’m over the moon that you find the videos helpful and I’ll keep working to do what I can! Thank you!
Hey Emily. Thanks A LOT for this video. the RC600 FINALLY arrived in South Africa this week and I bought mine yesterday. This video helped me greatly. Thanks for your channel!
Thanks a lot Emily, from spain. Your advices are very clear and help me a lot with my rc 600, I had a new one for a week and I was absolutely lost. Really really thanks Emily. Love U.
Oh good! Ya I’m sorry to hear you were lost. It took a sec for me to figure out how to navigate basic stuff. But I really hope these few simple things can help get u going!
@@EmilyMcVicker I'm playing the RC30 now for a year. And i think with lots of crazy ideas coming into my mind, the RC-600 will do all the trick. I always read some negative feedbacks about the RC-600, but when I saw your video, every questions are answered. Godbless you and more power! I'm Patt btw, from the Philippines :)
@@EmilyMcVicker so far couldn’t be happier , the fact you can switch the buttons up per memory/mode is amazing so you can plot out each track and switch between setups Not to mention it’s WAY smaller so I have room for my other pedals Still digging and your videos are super helpful ! You have a patreon or anything ? I’ve gotten a lot of value so would love to support more ! Thanks again and hopefully I can get some videos up soon to share progress ect
Ola and thanks for the lovely videos you are awesome :)! And here, I am ondering if we can route the metronome/click to only hear it in the headphones and have the couting during the recording loop etc. Is that possible?
Hey! This sounds like a routing questions I don’t think you can put the click in one ear only. But you can tell the rc what to put in the various outputs by going to menu>output>routing, and there are the options of how you can direct the inputs and tracks and rhythms. It’s work playing around a bit and seeing what ur options are. Let me know how it goes!
Wow. Sounds like you are having lots of fun with the RC-600. I want to buy one even though I can only play cords and can not sing. A very interesting vid. I love these behind-the-scenes videos thank you for sharing.
Hello Everyone! I have a question, I am using an RC 600 and I would like to configure it like pressing record on track 1 and after I finish recording would I press track 2 recording so it would keep and play the recorded loop on track 1 and then start recording immediately on track 2, but after the track 1 circle has ended it would start overdub on track 2 (where I just pressed recording before so I don't have to press recording 2x to record and overdub on track 2). Is that possible to have a fix bar/loop length to start overdub on the next track after the track 1 has finished the loop circle? Is it possible to synchronize the 2 tracks bar length together?
Ah i see what u mean. Did you use this technique for the 300? I totally did. You can assign amount of bars to each track. Is that what you’re looking for? Or did you set them to be the same length of time, and they’re not meeting up?
Hi Emily, very helpful video, thank you! Maybe you can help me with 2 little problems? Is ist possible, that I can NOT choose different fadeout-times for different tracks? Is it possible, that I can NOT activate Track-FX only for one track, only for all? Thanks!!
The track FX have a dial in the settings called “insert” and that is where you can assign which track it is effecting , or if it effects everything. As far as different fade out times for different tracks, I don’t know about that. I know on the 505, it had faders for each track which is nice. But I don’t think the 600 can do it. If you figure it out, lemme know!
Hello Emily, my RC 600 is on its way. I’m totally new to all of this. I’m a vocalist, just learning to play instruments. I’m looking forward to your tutorial videos. Thanks
Thanks Emily. Very easy and simple to follow. On your next video can you kindly show how you set up seperate fx for your microphone (s) and guitar. And which pedals you assign them to. I want to assign and experiment with the fx but there’s so much to learn and it gets a little overwhelming for a beginner like me. THANK YOU. 😃🙏🏽👍🏽🎤
Hi, thanks for all the tutorials. Maybe you can help me? I’m using loop 1 & 2 as verse chorus in single mode. I’m trying to use loop 3 as a percussion track that will play over the verse and chorus. The timing seems to get out of whack. I’m assuming I have a setting wrong on loop 3 but I’m not sure what. Any idea why the 3rd loop would wouldn’t line up correctly?
Hey there, I don’t like single mode personally. But I have a lot of tutorials, explaining how I like to break down my loops. I keep it super simple so I make sure to nail the timing every time. Hope that helps!
so maybe thin "Magnets" can be used to Label ? which poses a question since I'm new to this, I use a Helix for Guitar and got the RC600 for live playback (1 shot loops) the question is on the Memories when you Save each one does it carry over the pedal assignments OR do they have to be reprogrammed ? I'm hoping that they must be because there are so many ways to lay out the buttons that would have different advantages in other way to use , the trouble would be Remembering all the buttons for each patch but with magnets you could move them to where you need them you would just need to note how they were set.
No more gaffa !!! I've used magnetic paper which you can use on every inkjet printer. Just use Illustrator or in my case Coreldraw to make your own layout, hit pint, cut with a stanley knife (i'ts a bit thicker than normal paper) and it really stick like a magnet to the RC-600. I wish I could include a picture here ...
oh friend! that is such a compliment and i'm so glad you like the videos and they are helpful! I keep learning and and exploring. Glad to have you in this group!!

Thanks , good clear video , but the more I look at it , the 600 looks awfully fiddly . The rc 505 seems a better layout and more intuitive . Boss should have made tiny alphanumeric screens beside each button so the setting you chose is always displayed. Some flagship , it looks cluttered but the tape brightens it up I suppose .. I am veering towards the rc505 l will check out your other video. Happy new year and I look forward to your other highly informative creations .
These things are sick, I only have the rc300 and I’ve yet to get good at it, give me a few years and shows before I ever even think of getting the new one 😩
If I want to use the RC-600 in my home studio to make songs and I want to run it into my guitar amp and cab, but also into some other monitor and power solution for vocals and drums (and maybe for bass too...?), what might such solution look like? I'm new to this. And can I split the signal to the guitar amp and vocals and RC600 drums to another sound solution at all?
ya sounds like you could take advantage of some of these routing options. So you can put different things through different outputs. Now that i am doing more real world shows again, i am playing with them. Video coming soon on my favorite routing options!
Hi Emily! This was so helpful. I had a whole other question when I stumbled upon this video, and now I know so many other secrets to this awesome loop station! A question remains... I noticed that when you change the stop mode or the Play Dub functions, you have to go to each separate memory and change it for that. How do you make these changes apply to all of the memories? Do you recommend that? Thanks a lot in advance!
aww thanks! ah yes it doesn't explain very clearly in the instructions. seems to me like the options in the 'menu' button are the global options. and the options in the 'Loop' button are the ones limited by track.
I've never used a looper and just bought this one. I haven't read the user manual yet but I have NO IDEA how to even start. Guess I should have bought something simpler first!
It is a little tricky to get started. Don’t worry about all the bells and whistles. Just make the machine work for you. You will naturally develope your own method 👍 and if you have questions or run into speed bumps, reach out on here and maybe I can make a video for ya. 🫶
hi! is there a device that i can plug into the looper so i don't have to bend down and hold it up with my hand? it's for selecting track numbers. thanks for your reply, your videos are super inspiring!
Hey! Sounds like you need an external control switch of some kind. I use an FS-6 when I need to customize just a few more switches. I have another video showing how I set up the Fs-6. I’m confused why you are holding up the pedal with ur hand tho 🤔 hmmm…. 🤷♀️
My head phone mic does not work with rc 600. I used a mic/phone splitter cable, inserted mic jack to the input 2 in rc 600 and phone jack to phone output on rc 600. No sound comes out. I also inserted the mic input directly into guitar amp, but still no sound comes out. Any insight?
Hmmm i’ve never used one of those myself. I don’t know if that would get you the most ideal sound quality. Have you tried using a regular mic? Do you need to use a headphone microphone combo?
@@EmilyMcVicker regular mic works. I wanted to use headphone mic combo so that i can face down to tap on rc 600 without stopping singing into the mic. Turns out the headphone mics need to be powered which computers do provide but rc 600 dont. It works only on computer, does not work on rc 600. Had seen some youtubers connecting the usb end of their headphone directly into the phone charger, and they can listen to their mic through the headphones. Mine dont even do that. Tried connecting the aux tip of my headphone to rc 600 and the usb tip to the phone charge hoping the phone charger would provide the mic the power it needs to operate, it did not work either.
Subscribed :). One thing I'm struggling with is, how do I add a button to activate an input reverb effect on the input instrument but not on the recorded track?
@@EmilyMcVicker I want to turn the reverb on for my input instrument without any recorded tracks being effected. So that my guitar playing live will have reverb. Can you help? :(
Good morning thank you so much for your tutorials. Can I ask a question? Is it possible to set the rc600 programming the starting of the rec activity? I wold like to order to one track to start recording only at the first (for example ) loop end . Is that possible? In case can you explain the way to achive this setting? Thank you very much and excuse my bad english ( I'm italian :) )
@@EmilyMcVicker hi thank you very much for aswering me... Maybe I didn't explain correctely what I wold wont to do... When I hit the play button of a certain track , programming this function before starting, I can allow the looper to start playing (if I want) exactely at the end of the previous loop. That is to say that it is no necessary to play the new track hiting the button mechanically exactly in time , bacause there is this automatic function that allows to hit the play button when you wont ( no needing to hit it just in the right exact moment in wich I wont the track to start playing) becauzse the playing of the new track will start authomatically bay itselfe at the perfect time of the first loop ending. I was asking if does exist an analouge function towards the rec mode. I mean something like the automatic "punch in and punch out" that is available for example in the most sequencing softwares for audio recording. I wolud like to hit the rec button of a track independently on the right syncronization moment, relying on some authomatic funcion that will start recording exactely at the loop end instant... Thank for your kind replay... :D
Hi mate. I'm having a major phasing type issue with my guitar. I run a tap tempo in to my rc600. It comes out and goes to a kaoss pad. I put my drums in the kaoss then tap in to the looper. It's all in sync then I sent my drums from kaoss to looper. The issue is when I tap a tempo and play it in to the kaoss it then somehow gives my guitar a phasing type issue. It's really frustrating. I've turned of all effects and stuff but still nothing. It's doing it without anything actually been sent it to the loop. The guitar is fine pre tapping the tempo and recording it in to kaoss pad. Any help would be awesome 👌
Question : I want to stop tracks by pair. I explain. Imagine i record "booms" on 1, bass on 2, chorus on 3. At certain point, i just want to hear(play) the track 3. I can do it with a midi Pedal board (by assigning 2 actions on 1 CC#) - I can do the same with 2 others assignments for tracks 2 and 3. But i haven't found a way to do it only with the pedal (by changing mode and ctrl/pedal). Could you help to resolve this possibility ? Many thx for your vids, very helpful and funny.
Hey! Thank you so much for watching and for your comment. This sounds very specific, by “chorus” are you referring to voices? Or the chorus of the song? I wonder if you can modify that in the routing options in the menu. Or in the “recording” options in the ‘loop’ button. This sounds like it might be a question for my friend John Paul in the Uk who has a whole course on the rc600. He loves the tech side of the rc-600 and is good at explaining
@@EmilyMcVicker by chorus, i just mean a part (T3) that should be cut off at same moment than bass part (T2). This, it remains only T1 active. Using the pedal, i must push 2 buttons in a row. As said before, i can use the assignments with a midi controler.. It works very well. but I a have plenty of buttons in front of me feet ! (more than fingers, it becomes a engineer problem)
Hello Emily! Thank you for your effort to make it easier to know more about RC 600. I'm using RC300 and I'm lovin' it, still sceptical could it be worth to change for me. I have more than 60 prefabricated memory presets (pre-recorded things, pre-settings like track 1 immadiate stop but track to stops at the end of the period... track 1 - 2 beats but track 2 double etc. sometimes I'm using single track mode when the song includes different parts) it's like years of work in my rc 300:) However I've read the whole manual of boss rc 600 and honestly it's not to deep (just basic info). As you have been using it for (quite) longer time maybe you can answer some of my questions. 1. Can you use eq? If yes is it parametric or low, mid, treble or else method... Can you use settings like that separately on different inputs or is the same like in RC300. Well 3 loops are enough for me I'm missing just few things: EQ - I'm using Behringer eq700 before the RCRC300 on my guitar to be able to cut some bass of my Taylor mini (it boosts around 125Hz and creates feedback) I'm missing that it's not possible to use separatly the effects on mic and guitar. 2. Can you use the effects seperately on the different inputs. e.g for beatboxing I like using some octaver effect it just creates bass boost. Sometimes I'm playing the guitar and live beatboxing while my duett partner sings, but if you get the same effect, it's not possible to use octaver (ok I could have an a/b switch pedal to send my guitar directly to the mixer in this case, but I have already an extra eq and I'm using external clt pedal to be able to switch effects with my feet - I like gadgets but common:P try to be as simple as it is possible). If I would like use chorus on the guitar, my singing voice get the effect (ok I can use 2 mics, I'm thinking of it) So it would be so great to have the possibility handle separately the effects on mic and guitar (in tc helicon voice live 3 it was possible but it was terrible to loop with it - it was so small) For me it's more important the ability to use different effects on guitar and mic, then on different tracks. Well if I can record with the right effects I barely use extra effect on tracks maybe filtering but rather on all of the tracks together) 3. Can you send your inputs with the effects on to different outputs (I mean mic and guitar seperately)? On rc 300 you can use sub output but in that case you lost your effects (I just simply don't understand why you are not allowed to use these ouputs (L,R) like the main output. And you can't send them seperatly to sub L and sub R so it's not possible to mix ratio of the mic and the guitar just the ratio of all tracks vs mic and guitar. It would be so great to have the possibility (in case we have a good technician) to give him the chance to mix the loops, mic and guitar seperatly. I know that's a lot and maybe I will have more questions but I'm really into loopers and good solutions and you like a person who thinks the same way:) Thank you in advance
Hey! Lemme try to answer some of these. Sorry it’s taken me so long! Yes you can send inputs or tracks to different outputs. It’s simple if you build each song the same way each time. I like to have separate DI boxes to give a sound person so I know they will get each instrument separately! I need to do a video on that set up next. You can definitely put different Fx on different inputs. In the effect screen jogged to the left, and the setting is called ‘insert’ and that is where you send the effects
The EQ‘s are in the menu. Sometimes it just has Lowe’s and Heise. It’s not perfectly comprehensive. For my online set up, I prefer mixing my instruments on my daw and then send it to the Looper. I have a similar set up when I’m playing live Where I’m able to mix my instruments separate from the output of the recorded loops. I seriously need a video explaining that next.
If you’re still trying to get your loops from the 300 over to the 600, I don’t know if I have the answer yet. But it would be a shame for you to lose those loops! Are you able to drag wave files into a DAW? Maybe if you can, try exporting them from the Daw and try putting it back on the Looper. Although I don’t know if that will help. And if you figured it out already, please let me know what solution you found!
Your videos are very pleasant to watch, your voice is sublime, very pleasant to listen to, I would say you are the "Queen of Loops". but honestly how many times you need to go down to adjust something on the looper? this can be a hell for your back I guess .
Awwww that is sweet of you to say. Ya ideally, you don’t want to be bending down at all. Not good for back, it takes you out of the show for a sec, and it just takes unnecessary time. I have a designated switch now and I can clear without bending down. Figuring a few things out!
I don’t get around to watching your videos nearly as much as I would like too but I always enjoy them when I can. Thank you so much for putting out content. 💖 💖 💖
How does one copy effects banks? Example; copy input effects bank or even just one input effect from bank A to bank C. (The purpose of the copy is so that you do not have to set up the effect again in the same memory or another memory). Cheers!
Thanks Emily! HELP !! does anyone know how to get that RC-300 ? The default one where the first loop you record will NEVER be prolongated by any other loop/track. Meaning if you record 2 bars on track 1 ( and let overdub) then record another loop on track 2, then track 2 is synced on the same 2 bars, and overdubs forever like that ( not elongating the bars). I m pulling my hairs !!! HELP
@@EmilyMcVicker I think I found it ! I wanted the first loop recorded to set length for all future loop. rc-600 is not super clear with that but I found it, it seems.
A question: What is the default behavior of overdubbing? For example, I record a 4 bar loop. Then I overdub. Is it possible to save 2x 4 bars on one overdub (i.e. without having to press overdub twice)? My unit doesn't seem to let me do that (it will only keep the last 4 bars instead of the total of 8), but I think I've seen this done on some videos? Maybe I've changed a setting I shouldn't have? Can anyone help?
Ya if you set the initial length of the loop, when you start overdubbing, it should keep recording til you turn off the overdub. The main setting is if you want it to do (rec > play) or (record > dub) first
@@EmilyMcVicker Thanks for that! It was working right in another memory bank so I guess I maladjusted a parameter somewhere along the way. Really enjoy your videos!
Hi Emily, congrats! You´re a amazing artist! To record beatbox, is the quantize function satisfactory? I mean, does the pedal automatically adjust small fractions of time when you press the rec button?
‘Quantize’ on a loop pedal works a little differently than quantize on a DAW. The Looper does not help equalize the timing. You have to make sure that you record the loops with good timing off the bat. The first loop is the most important, because it establishes the timing and the tempo. The other loops will be synced to that first loop. But that first loop has to be recorded with excellent time. Takes practice.
I don't understand the effects limitation. Is it possible to use 4 input effects on guitar and vocals at the same time? Is it possible to assign 4 vocal effects to a vocal line and 4 guitar effects to a guitar line and play with 8 effects at once?
No unfortunately. There are 4 Fx and you can choose for them to be on everything or just one thing. You’re not the only one that is bummed by that. I wish instead of track Fx, you could make them all input Fx…. But I don’t think it’s possible. If you need more input Fx than 4, you’ll need external pedals
Hello Em. so I was tinkering with my RC600 last night for the first time. Question though. How do you make the loop (say for example the percussion loop) increase its volume? Cos I tried it last night, and the percussion loop I made using my acoustic guitar, sounded lower than the guitar loop I made. Whats your advice? Thanks in adv.
Hey! Thanks for the question! sounds like you’re playing the body of the guitar like a drum for the percussion. Is that right? Most acoustic guitars only have one pick up that’s right behind the bridge. So it could be a matter of where the sound is coming from on the guitar. I have heard of some Looper‘s installing additional internal pick ups To capture the different residence spaces. but idk maybe that’s a little extra lol. I used the guitar for a drum for a bit, but it make a distorted sound that I decided I didn’t love. I wonder if it would work to actually mic the body of the guitar…? And use the second XLR input. If you try something that works, please let me know! I think a many folks use the body of the guitar for percussion
@@EmilyMcVicker mic'ing the body can be a good alternative route for me. Also, I remember I have a Boss DR-880 drum machine lying around. maybe I can connect that one as well and use it as my beat maker ? have you tried anything like that on your end ?
I would just get a thin piece of plastic and cut out my own template and then write or print on the labels I want. That way it’s also an extra piece of protection for the pedal itself as well.
Great video, I just got my pedal. But I find it so difficult to hold down "Track select" to get effects. I only really want 1 or 2 effects initially so I was wondering if it would be possible to do the following. First thing - keep pedal mode 1-4 as is allowing for two channels to record/overdub(1 and 3) and then two channels to stop and clear(2 and 4). Then on pedal mode 5 AND 6 have two effects but I want those effects to be enabled to start recording loops with effects applied. So for instance if I setup pedal mode 5 to be reverb and pedal mode 6 to be guitar to bass, I want to be able to step on pedal mode 5 to enable reverb and then to still record or overdub on pedal mode 1 or 3 without having to make long transitions. Is this possible, do you have a video showing how to do this? Very limited content on the web in terms of the built in effects
Hey Adam, I think I’m understanding you. But the “pedal modes” refer to where the track select takes you. So there’s only three. It sounds like you might be talking about the switches in different pedal modes and in that case, all these things you’re asking are possible! Im glad you have a clear vision of what you want - the tech stuff is easy. I can make a more specific video on it later maybe - that’s a good idea! Go to the menu and the control functions, then there are the three pedal modes. You have to decide what you want each switch (1-9) to do in each pedal mode (1-3). So if you want to put some Fx triggers on the 2nd pedal mode, make sure you’re in pedal model 2 and scroll to see what you can chose for it to do.
@@EmilyMcVicker Once you're in the correct Mode and Pedal, how do you change the function of Momentary, etc. The dial just seems to change the default (Toggle). Don't see how you change the others. Thanks!
@@EmilyMcVicker Thanks for the reply firstly, love the content! Let me give this a go and see if it is in fact correct. I would also love to see a video explaining how to setup different effects and what these effects are as I am stumped at the moment
You are a fun and engaging teacher. I have the RC300 but want more tracks for more parts of songs and more instruments. It's between the RC600 and the Aeros Loop Studio. Do you think the RC600 is good for setting up parts of songs (e.g. intro/verse/chorus/bridge) and switching between them when wanted? Thanks for all the great instruction you give!
Aww u bet Mark! You’re a sweetheart for saying those kind things. To answer about intros/verses and all that, I really will record the verse chords. I like to focus my loops on the chorus, and the percussion textures so that I have lots of sections that I can play around with and can be interchanged
I just bought an RC 600 and I've never used equipment like this before. What am I supposed to use to hear the output? I have a microphone for input....do I need an amp, or something else to hear the playback? If so, what kind of amp?
Hey! Yes you’ll need a speaker or amp or something. If you play a gig, you’d plug the out put to a Di or a mixer. For now, you could use the headphones jack to practice and hear yourself. Just have to have headphones or adapter for a 1/4” jack. You’ll need some sort of speaker and quarter inch cables to connect.
anyone have issues with auto-record staying enabled between use? reset back to system from memory for storage and I have to set it every time I turn it on
@@EmilyMcVicker it's the setting where the recording starts with the first note you play, not when you hit the pedal. one of the best features of the other pedals. works fine on bass, lousy on guitar signal.
Hi Emily…I just bought this unit with the hope of learning more about looping and eventually getting into more advanced concepts but I am freakin lost!! Maybe I came into this a bit too over confident 😬. Any ideas where the best place to learn basic looping as a start using this unit? And stupid question…if I want to use effects on my guitar, do I have to use pedals before they go into the looper or can this work with amp modellers, sorry seems a simple, silly question 😟 thanks, please keep posting vids about this, great work !
Hey Gary! This pedal is kind of a lot to get started on but I think you can do it. It has a lot of built in digital FX but you might prefer apologue separate pedals - totally personal preference. If you wanna use an amp, that might be a good use of the 2nd XLR input bc You’d have to mic the amp (or some amps have quarter inch outputs as well. I have some tutorials that go over basic song building on the Rc-300 pedal. They’d be very applicable to using this one also. Let me know if you have a specific song request!

Thanks Emily. Just got my rc600 and been playing with it for 2 straight days lol. Uploaded my very first YT vid as well. How can I improve my looping? Suggestions?
Hey Eric! No not anymore :) my main mic goes direct to my interface, but the 600 has enough channels I can plug everything in direct. I might start routing my sm7b into interface and out again into the looper so I don’t compromise it’s quality, but still condense to one mic. Another days project :)
Are you talking about attaching more control pedals? You can plug two extra control pedals. Not sure what you mean by attaching rigs with loop tracks. Are you able to specify?
@@EmilyMcVicker to further clarify, my first question is, can I make guitar fx patches in it like what we do in boss gt1 fx modeller? I want to make 6 loops for 6 different parts of a song and store them in six tracks. Similarly I want to make 6 different guitar fx patches to play over the six different parts of the song. I want the respective guitar fx patches to activate when i kick in different loops. Is it possible to do that?
Hey Emily, thanks for the video. Is it me …. Or is the documentation on the RC 600 the worst ? I’m not a stranger to looping…. But this thing is a beast. I will be joining the discord to try to learn along with you. Thanks!
YES! It’s the worst. I’m learning the most from playing with it A LOT. And I am also wondering how after all these updates that some features aren’t working like they should… 🤔 I need to call and clarify with a Roland rep. It’s kind of a pain in the booty. I even tho I really like the pedal when it works properly.
Hi Emily, great video as usual! Thank you. I'm really curious about how to connect this looper to a complex system. Electric guitar, preamp, audio interface, DAW, MIDI controllers. I feel like I would fail in attempting that :)
Ah! I might have to tackle those things one at a time. I have my guitar plugged into a few pedals before they get to my looper. And to make these videos, I am using a scarlet interface and DAW. A few videos ago, I made a rig rundown that might interest u. It was right before I got the 600, but the concept is pretty much the same. Might have to make an update with the new pedal, but if you have any specific questions from that video, I could answer!
Do you think it's worth upgrading from the 300? I love my 300, particularly the footswitches, and I'm not sure I'd ever need 6 separate tracks. Though the effects and routing options do make it tempting.
The best thing it has on the 300 is that it’s smaller and sounds better. But it is quite a transition. I’m glad I switched, but my brain was very wired for the 300. So I’ve been rerouting my brain and as well as the way I use the looper. But if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
For each pedal mode, the switches have different function. Which can be versatile and confusing at the same time! Changing the pedal mode is like switching to the next page and on that page, the buttons can do different stuff. On mine, my first pedal mode is tracks 123, and next pedal mode has tracks 456, then on the 3rd pedal mode the switches are the FX that I’ve chosen for those switches. Does that make a little more sense?
@@EmilyMcVicker yes totally. I spend hrs on that pedal daily keeping it fun picking up bits and pieces as I practice. I am a slow learner. Thank you very much..I follow John Paul also and have to put his advice in slow mo
Thanks for the question! I have a gear list and links to everything in the description. Some of my gear isn't manufactured anymore, so i listed the next closest thing :)
Great video as always. I’ve been more of a “record-play-dub” looper but I can see some advantages with some arrangements to use “record-dub-play”. Do you think it’s feasible in a live performance situation to switch between the two? or do you have to commit to one technique for the entire set/show?
Ya! Actually for this looper, you can vary it up on different tracks. So maybe for different songs you go to the next track that is suited for different needs.
Hey! Thanks for the question. Are you trying to use it for your audio interface? You can do that, you just need to select the rc-600 as the audio source for whatever DAW you’re working in. I have a separate interface that I use for my computer and I do my tracking and recording with logic 👍
Yes!!!! Hit *LOOP > and you can edit *NAME on the far right. I have now labeled some different settings for different types of gigs. Video on those coming soon!
If i wanted to spend all my time fiddling around with editing screens and knobs before i can even record a loop i would just stick with my DAW. I thought a looper was supposed to be almost a plug and play thing where you could quickly lay down your idea before it skips your mind.
I agree with you. They soup up these machines to have all the tricks and effects, but in a real gig, you need it to behave pretty basically and reliably. I have basically set mine up to work the same for every song. I am interested in how other people have designed and routed their Looper. Are you using a computer and a DAW at the moment?
I use Logic as my DAW and i have the RC-505 MK2 as my looper. It looks easier and more user friendly than the RC-600 even though i'd love to have the extra track from the 600..@@EmilyMcVicker
Stumbled upon your channel by accident while looking into the various loopers from BOSS. you mentioned a "click track" how to and been looking at all your videos to find it - maybe you could let me know where or which videos you made with "click track" - by the way cleva trick - made me "look"
Hey! I don’t use a click track normally in my performances. But Some people might prefer it, so I might do a video on how to work with a click. Would that interest you?
@@EmilyMcVicker - more to learn timing and be able to play really as a beginner -ie have a drum/click playing in my ear which may or may not be audible on the main "AMP / SPEAKERS" - suppose the looper is kinda "clicking" thank you for replying!
Let me know how it goes! The last update screwed me up a bit. I went back to original. I have a video about it coming out soon. But let me know how it is for you!
I was using that for a while, but it would replay a little of my last loop as I held it down. I’ve now put the ‘all clear’ on switch 8 on pedal mode 3 and I’ve been liking it there personally
Hi Emily. Thank you for the video. I had a lot of the same thoughts. It would have been nice if each pedal had a customizable read out label instead of the fixed labels now that require gaffer taping over. I am 6 days into my journey on the RC-600. This is a video I made on Day 3: ua-cam.com/video/-KEM5r9uStM/v-deo.html
Been watching a lot of these rc600 vids. Yours are hands down the best. Quick and informative. Others have too much extra commentary. Thank you!
I love hearing that! Hell, yeah! Thank you. :-)
Just picked up mine 30mins ago. I have been using a RC-50 since 2005-2006ish. The RC-300 never resolved my issues that I had with the RC-50. My main issue was the routing. This unit fixes that. Great video. It will help me quite a bit.
Oh good! I’m sure my approach will continue to change. Sounds like you are gonna have a lot of new tricks to play with! Congrats :)
I just got my 600, and being an analog pedalboard user have been baffled with getting around on this amazing piece of gear. Thanks for sharing your approach in a straight forward and easy to understand way. I look forward to more of your videos....

@@EmilyMcVicker same bar length I just want the 2 track to start overdub instantly after the circle ended without pressing record again
@@EmilyMcVicker Thank you! ... got it. Fade out: Funny, my RC 500 also could do it. Maybe I'll find it somewhere in the deepness of the menus ...😵💫

Magnets are a great idea!
Oh that’s brilliant!!! I might have to take that advice!!!
Pro Tip - from the main menu, just tap enter and you'll quickly get to the mixer SUPER quick. Hope that helps.

Question: Can you sync loop recording and playback to Ableton Live? Like, can I play a click track from Ableton and then loop to the click?
That’s a great question! I’m not an ableton user, but I’ll be interested to hear how that goes for you!

HI emily , How do you send the metronome click to number 6 on the foot pedal. this would save a lot of bending down

Good morning thank you so much for your tutorials. Can I ask a question? Is it possible to set the rc600 programming the starting of the rec activity? I wold like to order to one track to start recording only at the first (for example ) loop end . Is that possible? In case can you explain the way to achive this setting? Thank you very much and excuse my bad english ( I'm italian :) )
Hi Paolo! If I understand what you’re trying to do, you just have to hit the next track record button and it will stop one loop and start the next 👍
Holy smokes that sounds super frustrating… I have a guitar pedal guy I might ask about this. Thanks for the comment! Lemme see what I can fund out 👍

I have more than 60 prefabricated memory presets (pre-recorded things, pre-settings like track 1 immadiate stop but track to stops at the end of the period... track 1 - 2 beats but track 2 double etc. sometimes I'm using single track mode when the song includes different parts) it's like years of work in my rc 300:)
However I've read the whole manual of boss rc 600 and honestly it's not to deep (just basic info).
Well if I can record with the right effects I barely use extra effect on tracks maybe filtering but rather on all of the tracks together)
I know that's a lot and maybe I will have more questions but I'm really into loopers and good solutions and you like a person who thinks the same way:)
Thank you in advance
SouthernBell!! You are so sweet my friend. I always love seeing your name pop up 🥰
How does one copy effects banks? Example; copy input effects bank or even just one input effect from bank A to bank C. (The purpose of the copy is so that you do not have to set up the effect again in the same memory or another memory). Cheers!
I’m not sure how to do that. if I find a way, I’ll report back and Let ya know
Thanks Emily! HELP !! does anyone know how to get that RC-300 ? The default one where the first loop you record will NEVER be prolongated by any other loop/track. Meaning if you record 2 bars on track 1 ( and let overdub) then record another loop on track 2, then track 2 is synced on the same 2 bars, and overdubs forever like that ( not elongating the bars). I m pulling my hairs !!! HELP
Hey journeyman, I think I can help with this! But I’m a little confused at the question. Can u clarify?
Hi, How do I turn off the inbuilt noise suppressor?
Hmm I don’t know. You can hear a noise suppressor in it?
hi can you costumize the rec-dub on one track only?
I don’t think so…. But you can customize that option for different memories. When u go to a new memory space, it will default to rec>play.
@@EmilyMcVicker Thanks for the reply.
I love you for this. Thank you loop sister from the west.
You’re so welcome friend 🥰🥰
Hello Em. so I was tinkering with my RC600 last night for the first time.
That’s a really good idea!
Love all your content, by the way what camera gear and lighting are you using?
Hey! I have links to my gear in the description including my camera. It’s a Sony :)
I like where you put the mode change button yes friends share..Ross Gallagher has been a game changer also..you I just connect with vocally
Makes a big difference! I appreciate the folks that help make life easier 🤘❤️
which one you like better for voice layers, the RC 600 or the RC 505?
Exactly the same. Just hands vs feet
@@EmilyMcVicker i see. thank you!
Ive been using a Line-6 JM4 for years I think its time for an upgrade!
Line 6 is legendary! But for looping I do love this new one 👍
Cool video Emi 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😎 greets from Germany 🇩🇪
Thanks friend! Hellooooo!!
@@EmilyMcVicker thank you!
anyone have issues with auto-record staying enabled between use? reset back to system from memory for storage and I have to set it every time I turn it on
I’m a little confused what you mean by ‘auto-record’ please explainn
@@EmilyMcVicker thanks Emily! I’m considering getting some multi effect unit now. BTW I love Colby Caillat and Jason Mraz 😊
Also u got a new subscriber!!!
Rock on!!! Thanks Sam 😄😄😄😄
@@EmilyMcVicker thanks and also please can u do a video showing if you have any extra pedals on your loop pedal and what they do and finally how you build up a loop, because I need to find out where to place the loops and which ones to play first and last on my rc600.
Thanks,SamW.
Hello Emily, enjoy the videos. Any idea if you can bounce a track as a dub onto another track?
Hey! Interesting question. You want to copy one track on to another? Lemme see what I can find out. Or are you trying to export and send to a computer or somethingv
@@EmilyMcVicker I want to bounce something that's already recorded on Track2 over on top Track1. Does that make sense? BTW, everytime I go to write something into settings, a little voice singing inside my head goes 🎵 Don't forget to save 🎵. Thanks alot 😊
Wow that was so helpful!!! Thank you so much!!
I’m glad! Did you get a new looper?
@@EmilyMcVicker Yes I just upgraded to the rc-600! You answered literally most of the questions I've had in one video. You're amazing, thank you again! So excited to listen to your music :)
Thanks Emily. Just got my rc600 and been playing with it for 2 straight days lol. Uploaded my very first YT vid as well. How can I improve my looping? Suggestions?
Oh nice congrats! I’ll go check it out!
I think I might make a ‘looping tips’ video coming up as well!
You sound great!
Thanks Emily. I'll keep on eye on your looping tips vid yay!
Do you still run your mics through a mixer before going into the looper?
Hey Eric! No not anymore :) my main mic goes direct to my interface, but the 600 has enough channels I can plug everything in direct. I might start routing my sm7b into interface and out again into the looper so I don’t compromise it’s quality, but still condense to one mic. Another days project :)
can i make 6 rigs/patches, attach them with 6 loop tracks, and turn them on with the respective 6 loop tracks when I am looping?
Can you clarify what you are envisioning? I’m not sure I understand. What are rigs/patches?
@@EmilyMcVicker Cheers Emily, will check it out too.
quick tip #1 if you press "enter" from the home page it'll take you directly to the Mixer (instead of menu, mixer)
Oh Rob! Great tip thank you!
@@EmilyMcVicker Thank you :)
Can you explain to us more about the pedal modes..I haven't a good understanding yet.
Thank you very much..I follow John Paul also and have to put his advice in slow mo
can i ask what camera you use to record your video and audio, Great channel aswell top work !!!
🤘🏼 If you’re connecting the loop station to a laptop what software do you use to edit and record ?
Hey! Thanks for the question. Are you trying to use it for your audio interface? You can do that, you just need to select the rc-600 as the audio source for whatever DAW you’re working in. I have a separate interface that I use for my computer and I do my tracking and recording with logic 👍
@@EmilyMcVicker thank you so much. You’re awesome 😎 🤘🏼

Thx, lots of learning, i see.
Glad to hear it!
How'd you get your name on there?
Yes!!!! Hit *LOOP > and you can edit *NAME on the far right. I have now labeled some different settings for different types of gigs. Video on those coming soon!
You can get custom skins for other looper/multi, so RC-600 ones will come available
Oh! Nice. I’m gonna keep a look out for that
@@EmilyMcVicker I just got RC-600 yesterday and once I have a more established configuration I'm going to give Avery Static Cling Labels a try.
It looks easier and more user friendly than the RC-600 even though i'd love to have the extra track from the 600..@@EmilyMcVicker
is the pedal mode the 1/9 10/18 19/27 ?
Yes exactly!
@@EmilyMcVicker do have a video on how to set up your main mic with its own seperate effects.... or is it per channel ?
