Brei Betzold just adding - many of the song were at least partly written. Pat smear kept playing guitar. The summer and bass player were from sunny day real estate. Second album they changed drummers.
I believe he was already writing those early songs while he was in Nirvana. He never even tried to get them to record any of them because he didn't want to disturb what was working, and knew how bands fight over who's songs get on the album. When Kurt died he already had a lot of material. Just shows how smart he was. He was proud to be a part of Nirvana but wasn't just Nirvana ' s drummer. He definitely had something to say.

I recommend "I'll Stick Around" and for a performance you want to see check out there set on VH1 Rock Honors The Who. Just Wow. Thanks for another fine review of a great song/band. Now let me get to your "Best of You" review!
Were you working at the Staple Center in 1995? Anway, lead singer and guitarist Dave Grohl formed the Foo Fighters shortly after the death of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain died. Dave was the drummer of Nirvana. 'The Pretender' is probably their most well known hit. I think you should check out these three tracks. 'I'll Stick Around,' 'My Hero,' and 'Rope.'
By the way I know that you know how we enjoy vicariously rediscovering this music through you. I just wanted to say I think you are very intelligent in breaking the s*** down even though you've never even listened to this style of music. You have good taste my friend
This song was so healing to me after I lost my husband of 34 years to cancer. I was so outraged, and infuriated that my puny voice couldn't do justice to the anguish I wanted to let out. I imagined tearing my chest and throat open to let out the howls. Then I discovered this song, and played it loud, Louder, LOUDEST, over and over, and even felt like the lyrics were written just for me, how this life event was not like the others and I would have to really grow the eff up now and adult alone. I can't express how much this song helped me honor my grief. I love The Foos for that. RIP, Taylor.
I'd start listing Foo Fighter's songs to listen to but I don't feel like typing a novel. The guy, lead singer, that you saw at the Laker's games is Dave Grohl. Drummer for Nirvana and guest drummer for bunches of bands. If I had to recommend one Foo song, My Hero is the one.

He was recommended to Dave by Alanis Morriset who he was working for as her touring drummer at the time Dave decided to make FF a thing (the first album wasn’t intended to be released as it was therapy recordings for him grieving for Kurt)
Mark Shaffer Yep, I went to the same high school as Taylor in LB. in elementary we used to walk passed his house and he’d be jamming on the drums in his garage. Years later when he was in FF he came back into town to a house party that my high school metal band was playing at. He hopped on drums and we played Slayer songs
Another good band to react to would be The Warning. Three sisters who were inspired by bands such as Foo Fighters, Metallica, Muse, Pink Floyd, and more. They have 2 full original albums with a 3rd on the way, and are playing a tour in the US and Canada this Spring (they are from Monterrey, Mexico). Did I mention that none of them are over 21 yet? It would mean a lot if you could check them out! Choose any of their original songs or covers from their official UA-cam. They don’t have a bad song!

Perfect example of why I subscribe! Foo Fighters/Dave Grohl are living legends. I had the pleasure of seeing them play at Fenway Park , last July, in a torrential downpour. Best concert evah!!! Your openness to/respect for different genres is much appreciated!
This song is from "Echoes, Silence, Patience, and Grace" pretty much middle of their career. Their stuff before this album is quite a bit better than what follows this album, IMO. In Your Honor was the height of their creativity IMO
Psyched to see you start reacting to my favorite band on my birthday! They have so many great songs you should listen to. A few of their best would be Monkey Wrench, My Hero, Everlong, Let it Die, All my Life, Times Like These, Something from Nothing, Rope, Bridge Burning, Run, Make it Right .... I could go on and on. Enjoy the Foos!
They have quite a few great songs and very funny videos. I would recommend Learn to Fly, Everlong, Long Road to Ruin and Big Me for the songs and the videos and This is a Call for the song (do not think there is a video on this one). Then there is Times Like These for the message and music. Finally, not sure this would be a good reaction one but Something From Nothing is a deep, fairly mellow* song. * Maybe I am not hearing this correctly, but this has not occurred on any other music today. When the song moves from its slower softer vibe to a jamming one, there is a feel to the sound that is hard to describe. Kind of like some of the music is artificially and intermittently being held back, but there is no obvious mechanism (maybe like putting the speakers behind a thin [porous] wall muting/softening without distortion).
Yeah, Dave Grohl is a legend. Also, I highly recommend checking out one of the bands he's collaborated with in the past, Queens of the Stone Age. They're really really good. If you're looking for something catchy, any of No One Knows (Dave's drumming in this one), Little Sister, and 3's & 7's might be your jam. If you want something really good musically, but sadder, check out I Appear Missing

So not NIN's best song. People always react to it and say they'll never listen to another. "Something I can Never Have" or "Head Like a Hole" much better first listens.

You need to do Learn to Fly and Everlong too. 🤟🏻
"One of these things is not like the others" You went full Sesame Street. Never go full Sesame Street!
Chris Shelton that’s funny
I’ve seen this video a thousand times and still get chills when that wall explodes.
If you want something really good musically, but sadder, check out I Appear Missing
ive been hoping he would get to qotsa for a while now. i hope he does burn the witch with billy gibbons, since he's already done some zz top videos.
You are going to love their catalog of music. Really fun and interesting videos too.
Did you know that the singer Dave Grohl was the drummer of Nirvana?
OMG....he was?
Looks like him, but I dunno.....
@@thasandman1122 lolz
Tony Sousa a lot of people make the confusion between both indeed. But they are actually two different people!
@@Neorigg huh? It's Dave Groul dude. Same person.
It's about time my favorite reactor reacted to my fave Foo tune! NEXT you HAVE to do ALL MY LIFE by FOO. And Bridges Burning. KILLER TUNES! Just as an aside, my old roommate is their front-of-house sound man and has been for a loooooooong time. Dave Grohl is brilliant live and it a total rock star who owns the building when they play.
You should do nine inch nails "closer"
LMAO ...... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO JAMEL WILL FREAK OUT LOL
So not NIN's best song. People always react to it and say they'll never listen to another. "Something I can Never Have" or "Head Like a Hole" much better first listens.
I really like Best of You, from their In Your Honour CD, they closed the set at Sunderland 2015 with it and we were still singing the wooo---oooh-wooo's long after we'd left the venue, it's just a superb song
Bro, can u react to "Tomahawk - God Hates a Coward"? Mike Patton (from Faith no More) is the frontman of this band too. Such a genius lyrics and performance. Live version > studio version.
@Viva La Vivas I like that so much. Patton is a big genius. One of the best ever, certainly.
@IAmTheLiquor Lahey I'm sure jamal will like this a lot because of patton's insanity
oh no baby boy. .. this isn't their classic most popular. glad you found em😎👊 get it. love your channel and Pink Floyd brought me here. wait till you see the rest of Foo
There are so many gems by the Foo... too many to name. But here are a few:
Everlong, Rope, Walk, Learn to Fly ft. Tenacious D, All My Life, Times like These, Zero-Hour, The Sky is a Neighbourhood, and really anything off their album "Wasting Light"
Also, can you react to some Judas Priest? In particuar Live US festival '83?
My daughter saw them in concert about a year or so ago and said it was a great, high energy concert all the way through.
Bro! You are a gem with great taste in music! Check out Queens of the Stone Age - Smooth Sailing....you won’t be disappointed!! Much love!
Blaise Castelli you’ve got a killer scene there, man
Not Smooth Sailing....pls
Brian Jones even better!!! He can listen to any of the tracks off of Lullabies and be blown away!
Blaise Castelli yeah. Lullabies was def a great album
These boys have been going hard since the mid-nineties bro. Dave Grohl is his name, and he was the drummer for Nirvana until Kurt Cocaine left us. I’d say he was of the greatest musicians to ever live and Foo Fighters are one of the greatest rock bands to ever exist. Love what you do. Keep it up.
Foo Fighters! Can you please react to their music video for "Run"?
Awesome!
Gotta do Big Me by The Foo! Got to see them live 2 years back. One of the most amazing shows I've ever been to.
You should also checkout queens of the Stone Age “songs for the dead”

One song is titled "A Song for the Dead" and another is called "A Song for the Deaf". Another, hidden track 0, song is called "The Real Song for the Deaf". These are all on the album called "Songs for the Deaf".
YES!!! Can't stop listening to that song. I think the Glastonbury set 2002 was the best.

One of their best songs on my list 🤟🏽☮️
If you’re getting into foo fighters you need to listen to “white limo” “break out” and “everlong”
WHITE LIMO!!!!
The Foo Fighters, IMHO, have saved "rock n roll". Dave, Taylor, Nate, Chris, Pat and Remi thank you very much for all that you do!
And they influenced others. ua-cam.com/video/yjDkAnaTVVY/v-deo.html
The warning " Please " the warning "
Ho yes, The Warning!!!
They have an amazing cover of this song with more than 2 million views!
But check their original ones.
The first song to react to is Dust to Dust (live at Lunario).
I'm sure you'll like it!
Enjoy!

What a great channel! Hey if you even read this stuff and you want to be mind blown besides being the drummer of Nirvana and his super group Foo Fighters Dave Grohl also played some killer drums for Queens of the Stone age. One tune to check out is No One Knows
Check out the video for DOA. You’ll really enjoy it, and the song kicks ass!
