thanks for comparing both versions, the most important for me is to know if vegas 19 will crash as much as vegas 18 did, if not, i could upgrade it, otherwise, no real new important features for me to spend money from vegas pro 18 suite
Really good comparison mate well done! If only I could wrap my head around colour grading... I'll watch your vid when it drops (make it really basic) 😁👍
Hey Josh, thanks again for a great review. Been watching you for years and appreciate your content. I did want to warn potential Vegas 19 users that as of 2/21/22 Magix appears to be misleading us by "softly" marketing Sound Forge 16 in their Vegas 19 website but only delivering 15. I just upgraded, saw 15 and reached out to their sales team. They confirmed that it was only 15 and 16 would drop with 20 Not a huge deal and if we are honest no one buys Vegas for Sound Forge. And yes, technically speaking they did not call out a specific version in their materials. However, as a long-term customer of Vegas, it does feel a bit slimy when appears you've been misled (intentionally or not). Thanks again for your efforts.
Very informative and well presented, something I'd expect from a live event presentation also well spoken. Thanks for the information definitely convinced me to go for 19, I believe the changes are worthwhile
Excellent comparison video. Think it's time I gave Vegas another try. By the way, Grass Valley Edius X can also edit ProRes, ProRes RAW and BRAW. Still, not many editors on the market that can edit all three, so thumbs up to MAGIX for taking these Professional Codecs seriously.
@11:47 Letting you choose which payment model is something we hope all softcos would grasp. That said $300 for an update for JUST a year is ridiculous. Might wanna rethink that part of the structure...lol
Thank you for this - good for Vegas they introduce various things to improve, but if crashing is still Vegas' best "feature", I still need to stay away from it. And judging by the trial I just install today, it seems it is!
@@rsmith02 I really do wish they will make Vegas work. The issue is with various functions that are great ”on paper” but they do not work at all, or not reliably... And this version still does crash, just as 18 and 17 before it. The last reliable Vegas for me was 16...
Hi Josh. You're an EXCELLENT teacher because you impart meaningful info in a genuine, direct and conversational manner. Most tut vids are rambling or boring. Your tips have helped speed me along learning Vegas Pro and Vegas effects and I thank you immensely! In one of the vids I see where you're using my RTX 4000 GPU. I had asked on the forum if something like the new rocket Invidia 3090 with lots of gigs etc. would assist in smoother playbacks when lots of effects etc. were on the timeline. The answers kinda suggested NO and that there was a law of diminishing returns with GPUs and Vegas. Would you concur with that? ALSO...think Vegas Post, that I have now with Veg Pro18, to 19 is stable enough yet to upgrade or should I wait a few clicks? Thanks, Bob
Hey Bob. I appreciate the kind words. I personally don't see a noticeable enough difference in playback and rendering using my RTX Quadro 4000 vs my RTX 3080. They're both quite fast, nonetheless so If you were thinking about spending a lot of extra cash on the professional card, I'd save your money and get a decent NVIDIA gaming card. I think after the most recent build of V19, I think the upgrade is now worth it. Especially if you upgrade to Pro. Right now they're throwing in Boris Transitions for free and if you get Pro you also get Primatte Studio. Those two addition of plugins is an insane deal. Be sure to use my affiliate link in the description! :D
Nvidea gtx 1650 super graphic card doesn't support Vegas Pro any version .. can you give me a solution that I can use this graphic card for GPU acceleration
Thanks for answering a lot of questions with this video. But it created new questions for me. Mainly the pricing structure. You mentioned that this will be the last year of a perpetual license? Upgrade support for 1 year is included with it. This makes in a year, Vegas can only be upgraded via subscription.... wow.... for me, not good if this is true.
Sorry for the confusion. They will still sell perpetual licenses at any time forever. But you only get a year of free upgrades with that license. If your free upgrade year runs out, you have to renew it by purchasing an "upgrade". You are not obligate to purchase upgrades if your "free updates" period expires but if they add a bad as feature and you're past your "free upgrade" year of support, you'll have to buy an upgrade.
Essentially, yes. They're going to stop naming them and just announce when they come out with new features forever now. If you still have your year of upgrades, you can install it no prob. If your year expired, then you have to pay for another year of updates if you have the perpetual license.
I would still much rather have a stand alone program that I can take with me.... Look at what Adobe did, is it working? I really do not know and that's why I ask! Everything online is a limit if the program is crippled due to the lack of connectivity. And only 1080p stock video included? This world runs at 4k and then some+++. 10 80 is not just lack luster, it's obsolete! Cheers man 🍻.
Rendering speeds had no change. VEGAS has been able to utilize newer GPUs since 15 or 16 i believe so it's rendering as fast as GPU drivers can come out.
All past versions of Vegas I have had to turn off GPU Accel because my fullscreen preview stays black and then locks up the program until it crashes. But I've tried a few times now with Vegas 19 and even with GPU Accel off it's still black screening and crashing.
It's actually strange. I found out its not even the GPU Accel its the Legacy AVC and HEVC decoding. I can actually leave the Accel on and it works in Vegas 18. As long as the legacy settings are checked. If they aren't it makes no difference and will crash. But if I turn legacy on in 19, with or without Accel, it still crashes.
If you're graphics card drivers are not 100% up to date, update them. Also whenever I upgrade to a newer version of VEGAS, I always hold control+shift while double clicking the desktop icon and then deleting application data while resetting the program. Usually fixes all glitches.
I get this message when I add Upscale FX - To upscale yourt media, place this effect before the Pan/Crop effect in FX chain, after I move it before Pan/Crop it's greyed out... any idea why ?
Yeah, I think Magix changes the icon every few months and calls it an upgrade. Sony didn't do the best job of updating Vegas during its final few years of ownership, and I'm completely not impressed with what Magix has done with this product. I've been using Vegas since version 8 and I also used Movie Studio back in the day. This program should be so much farther along in the features department, and in the GUI department as well. Also, what a stupid icon logo. A "V". Wow. Memorable.
Wow 😲 Valeria you let the video get bigger, than narrating at the speed you did 😲 A torrent of information! I'm going to review the video another 3 or 4 times to make the most of this torrent of very valuable information.

I am a question, I am on Vegas 14 Pro edit, but when I render using MainConcept AVC OR the Sony one, my videos that are recorded in 1920x1080/60FPS, still come out pixelated(mainconcept) or blury(sony) with no resample. Is it worth upgrading the program?
You mention that Vegas can cope with ProRes RAW - does that include stuff like changing the white balance etc - or is it limited like the functionality in Premiere? Thanks - great video btw.
Currently it has limited customizability but they have plans to keep improving it forever. White balance and everything. It's goal it to be as good as Resolve in how Resolve reads BRAW
Hi Josh, I still use Vegas Pro 17 and had a look for how much they charge for an upgrade to Vegas Pro 19. The thing is, I am probaply buying an Apple mac mini M1 or Macbook Pro next year. As far as I know, it is still possible to use Vegas Pro on an apple pc with a programm called "paralells". On the other side, there is editing software like Final Cut Pro or Davinci Resolve. I am asking myself now, if it would make sense or not to spent some money for the Vegas Pro 19 upgrade, or better spent the money on Final Cut Pro. Thank you. I appreciate your advisory.
Can you do video about full mobile screen.....? i mean while we do rendered after video will show half it mean side black bar will showing... So can you explain about how to do full screen (fit screen) render setting

Question: what happens if you cancel or allow your subscription to expire? Does the program stop working, or do the added features just go away?
