Not many can work 5/4 time this well. Masters of their craft.
So why isn't this 5/8? lol I honestly don't get it, not trying to be combative
@@zibberebbiz pretty sure /4 when the beats are felt in quarter notes and /8 is felt in eighth notes.
It’s 5/4.
I think it'd be fair to say Brubeck can 🌚

This bassline gives me the cold sweats..genius
Turu turu turu tuh ---- tuh tururu tuh
The best live concert from the best album from the greatest band of the world.
🎯
Hard to overstate the brilliance of the pairing of the band with Nigel Godrich, whose "basement" this is and who has been the steady producer throughout all the years of Radiohead albums. One thing I really appreciate about Radiohead/Godrich albums is just how good they sound, how effortlessly they seem to make all the instruments stand out and highlight the work of these incredibly talented musicians.
Is it really their best album though? Let’s be honest.
@@johnbrion4565 OK Computer, Kid A, and In Rainbows are the Holy Trinity of Radiohead albums.
@@MicahBuzanANIMATION I’ve listened to them my whole life and don’t think in rainbows comes close to kid A ok computer amnesiac or even hail to the thief.
The sight of Ed just standing at the side of the room at 0:32 never fails to crack me up

He really said "🧍♂️"
Kudos for the cut to Colin on that sick bass riff
How can the word like etcetera be so damn meaningful in a song, Just Genius.
"You used to be alright, what happened?" 🎶 🕺🏻💃🏻🕺🏻💃🏻🕺🏻
Etc, etc.
Fast forward whatever
*bass line*
15 steps... then a sheer drop.
Lyrics from Genius:
How come I end up where I started?
How come I end up where I went wrong?
Won't take my eyes off the ball again
You reel me out, then you cut the string
How come I end up where I started?
How come I end up where I went wrong?
Won't take my eyes off the ball again
First you reel me out and then you cut the string
You used to be alright
What happened?
Did the cat get your tongue?
Did your string come undone?
One by one
One by one
It comes to us all
It's as soft as your pillow
You used to be alright
What happened?
Et cetera, et cetera
Fads for whatever
Fifteen steps, then a sheer drop
How come I end up where I started?
How come I end up where I went wrong?
Won't take my eyes off the ball again
You reel me out, then you cut the string
Crazy this song is almost 20 years old.
2:45 Thom Yorke dances like he's in a car on a bumpy road
jajaj
LMAO
Annnddd???
Everyone in the band is offering the best... and the best is what we got....
When the Thom Yorke says the last "cut the strings" part in song Jonny Greenwods plays deep and f*ck depressed riff. And there is why ı loves so much this live. Damn...
It's inconceivable to me that this has so few views over the past 2 years.
Thom Yorke is like a god. He began a career in music in the 90's (80's even, maybe?), and while many of his peers have become sort of antiquated, his talent and understanding of his craft has only grown and grown and grown, and his music feels more relevant with each passing year. It's been beautiful to experience. He is truly an Artist with a capital A.
We seem to only get a handful of them every generation...if we're lucky.
These Basement sessions are incredible. I'd expect a 7 digit view count.
Thom is a god
@@jonathanlgill yesss Radioheads basement sessions are godly shows there incredible musicality and vocals so sonically sound
how about pixies
Ever since I've heard jonny greenwood's arrangements for movies ( Phantom Thread, You Were Never Really Here) I'd say he shares this top Artist spot with Thom.
The studio version and the live version is literally THE SAME! THE SAME! Magical!
The ending is absolutely inspired. Thank you for posting this in high quality!
-and while I agree that the ending is inspired, once again I am just… utterly enthralled by the beginning, where you can SEE the musicians winding themselves into the weft of the developing song.. fascinating or, in the old sense of the word, awesome
One of the best Bass players out there!
This has to be the most unique album I have heard in a bit. I love this track vocal, guitar, drum, and mostly everything wise. Such a nice track. ❤
Thank Twilight for bringing me to this beautiful masterpiece.
This has got to be the best album I have ever heard in my life. I listen to every genre imaginable but this is still groundbreaking in 2024 to me. It has such a unique, chaotic sound that it reels me in every time without fail and makes me feel like I'm in a fever dream I never want to wake up from.
I always preferred this performance than the studio version. Both are good though! I just love the sound of this, combined with Thom's funny dance moves
Shazammed this thru twilight..amazing!
Same 😊
Me too
Incredible performance.
I REALLY miss Radiohead...the way that it used to be...guess nothing is forever.....this was great.
Awhile ago they said that they would release at least one more album. They're not working on it right now (everyone is busy with solo projects) but we should have it hopefully sometime within the next few years.
@@floppavevo5920 They said that Moon Shaped Pool would be the last album of that type of music. So when they come back theyre gonna be something completely a new. Back again to save the universe you know.

What asymetric music.....................and Talent Musicians ....................................................................to the Stars..........................
That guitar act as peacemaker or a time travel machine.
Awesome! I think I might like this performance more than the album track?
Well I'm glad to see Johnny also finds the guitar part so incredibly difficult - to the point that he isn't trying to play it properly.
This song got me into Radiohead and Ive never left. I can't get out. I hit the bottom and escape. I fell asleep to UA-cam auto play, lo n behold, this song woke me up, at the first seconds, I came to and was like, "WHO is THISS??"
I love these guys with all due respect.
And I received complete n sweet validation for my allegiance as their songs are included in Peaky Blinders episodes.
The chorus of this song..... I have always felt that they should repeat it at some point of the song!!!!! it is so freaking good 1:15
etc etc... a great recording!
Damn the drums sounds absolutely insane
Wonderful song. My favorite from this band ever.
masterpiece.
Masterful performance. ❤ This whole Radiohead from the basement concert is epic. One of the best live concerts on youtube that i know of. This band was so ground breaking words really can’t explain, one had to be there.
How the actual fuck is it so perfect😭

The guitar riff is very 70s italian acoustic style inspired. There is a particular song by some franco altissimi called 5 win that reminds me of this riff.
The band says Youre MORE than welcome.

Radiohead and suede are by far Britain’s best 2 bands.
They're not moving like that just cause they are feeling the music - keeping 5/4 time is hard!
I love music but I have things to confess. I was convinced for a bit that Colin Firth was the drummer of Radiohead!!
said it before, ill say it again: 1:48-2:00...you either have that, or you dont...thats flat out god given...smh
wachito rico!!!!!!!!

Isn't that abby road studios?
Well, I loved the song, the music, the singing, and the words. I just don't understand the singer's strange movements. Does he make these gestures with his hand and head because he is engrossed with the song? . Or maybe I didn't understand because I'm Egyptian and not used to seeing an American singer
