      Teo P a solid front axle never rides as smooth as and independent front suspension. Solid is stronger than cvt axles though. The Ram has way more ground clearance too which makes it less smooth. The Ram would out craw the Ford.

    I traded my Raptor for my Power Wagon, I thought I would miss the Raptor but I absolutely have no regrets. I was rarely able to take my Raptor to a location to do Baja stuff and it had a hard time fitting down roads in the mountains where I live. The Power Wagon fits and climbs better, plus it seats 6 like I needed and does fine in the dunes when we go, if I lived by the dunes then the Raptor would have made sense but for me, Power Wagon is better.

    If Ram invested more money in the Rebel it could easily compete with the Raptor. Interior wise it’s already there, and engine options, well nothing beats a Hemi. But you can’t compare a $45K msrp to a $75K msrp.
    One thing I’ve always wanted to see out of the Rebel is a wider body like the Raptors. If the Rebel has that wider stance and better suspension I don’t see how the Raptor would be better other than by name honestly.

    I really enjoy watching the comparison videos but feel this was lop sided a bit in favor of the raptor. Both trucks are excellent, well engineered, and high quality. Both do the specific/specialty job they were designed for and set the bar HIGH for the rest of the competition. I mean they've done a lot of innovative things, r and d, and simply have millions of miles of proven accomplishments to back both trucks. Ford and Ram are the top two factory off road contenders hands down. But... I am waiting for my brand new custom ordered red 2019 power wagon to arrive in the next few weeks. More traditional off roading suites my needs more so than high speed baja racing. Although the Raptors are pretty dang cool.

    Couple quick qeustions: did the raptor have the torsen front option? Did you air down on either? It's nice for the raptor, but it's a must for the power wagon because their stock pressures are waaay too high for off roading on account of it being a 3/4 ton and meant for loading. One more comment - can you talk about that claimed 14.2 inches of ground clearance on the ram? It's got 33 inch tires and an 11.5 inch rear ring gear in a solid axle housing. the math doesn't add up. 33/2 = 16.5 inches. 11.5/2 = 5.75 inches. 16.5 - 5.75 =/= 10.75 inches from ground to the bottom of the rear ring...to say nothing of the housing. What are you trying to pull ram?

    • @WilliamStewart1
      @WilliamStewart1 5 років тому

      The Raptor has a bit more clearance under the ring gear yes, I don't take it these guys actually know anything about these sorts of things though, most likely just read the brochure and then go filming. The PW has more bumper/body clearance though which may have them mixed up.

    Unless its changed for 2019, my 2016 PW can use the lockers in low range only. and I know this is just a grab and go review comparison, but for things like washboarding and anything on the trail, I air my tires down to 30 PSI when on dirt, the PW has special rims to resist bead disengagement(not bead locks) this helps TREMENDOUSLY with the whoops and washboards, since the factory tires are an HD light truck tire they use a pressure thats typically good for roads but not for off road.

    Without taking a single thing away from the Ram, you guys weren't quite honest about the Raptor you tested having a front Torsen mechanical limited slip that works VERY well.... And the Torsen can be ordered as a stand alone option for only about $450 in the lower option groups.I agree with others in hoping to see more trail crawling...The Ram would finally outdo the Raptor as the rock crawling got more intense, but with the front LSD diff you and maybe some viewers would be surprised how well the Raptor would do...that is if you can get the oversized F150 to fit down some slimmer trails!...Full disclosure: I own a 18' Raptor but think the Ram is in a class of its own in the conventional 4wd full size truck market..and of course a class leading interior...Thank for the video guys! :)

What you showed was a walk in the park for either truck, barely scratching the surface of their respective capabilities. It still managed to be a fun video to watch however.

      On two occasions I have actually seen the Raptor be better than the Powerwagon crawling up steep grades in test drives. It had the testers a bit confused. The Raptor diff can be locked up front as well by depressing the brakes which is a feature of the torsen diff. The raptors suspension gives it more bite when climbing and having no diff hanging down up front allows it to get through mud better as well. It also has very good articulation but not as good as Power wagon. So the Power wagon is really only better at 1 aspect off road and even then not by much. 9 out 10 scenarios have the Raptor being superior. Unless you count the winch. And then there is the work ability which is far and away superior in the Wagon. If just off roading get a Raptor, if you want more than a toy get a Wagon

      Falcon 4917 I’ve heard the ride is a lot better in the Raptor on the road than the Power Wagon as well which makes a big difference , besides the fact that the Raptor retains its value better.
